I am doing a fund raiser event for the Wayne county humane society on September 12th. Hope it is successful and I can donate a lot of money. Ordered lots of cat and dog charms and making earrings with them.
This is a great suggestion - I have also done this. It's a fantastic way of doing things that make you feel good and I like the idea of not wasting time and money on things people don't need and accumulating more stuff
Two other suggestions- I buy most of my Christmas gifts from charity websites. Some of the stuff is related (like cookbooks from the American Diabetes Foundation) but some isn't (like a pashmina from the Hunger Site). I get all my shopping done online and I feel like I did something good rather than just buying people 'stuff' that they don't need. The other suggestion is if you're having a wedding or another kind of big party, ask your guests to donate to a charity of choice instead of giving gifts. I plan on 'registering' my wedding at a normal store and at a charity website, so that guests have the option to give a physical gift or a donation to one of the 3-4 charities I'll pick out. Most of us don't need more stuff!
I have been doing this for a long time. I get the email each day to remind me and I do it faithfully every day. There are also tabs at the top of the page where you can "click" to help other organizations such as "Feed the Children," and "Free Mammograms." Thanks for sharing this information with the team.

There's a big purple button on this page that says "Click Here to Give It's Free"
Once you click there, you'll be taken to another page where you look near the top right for another clickable link that says "Vote Now" in red letters. This one allows you to vote for a shelter of your choice. You can do a search for the shelter you want, then follow the screen prompts to place your vote. (There will be an identifier link that helps eliminate auto voting, where you have to name the animal in a picture they will show you.) The winners (those with the highest number of votes) will be eligible for $100,000 in grant money at the end of July. Of course, I always vote for the greyhound rescue where I got my Kimnie, but I think the possibilities are pretty much endless.
You can vote once per day, and you can even sign up for email reminders that will take you right to the voting page.
