Supposedly Fort Collins Sparkers has 1530 members. If all the members get 1000 fitness minutes in March, the group will hit 1,530,000! With this one last day of February remaining, the team has only 25,000 fitness minutes. One half of those 25,000 minutes have been produced by 10 people. Come on, we live in Fort Collins. Look out the window on this wonderful Sunday. It is a wonderful day. Get out an walk. Go to the gym. Go up to Lory and hike. Just get your body moving.
Start off by setting your goals for this week. Write them down. Set some realistic goals for March. Try for 1,000 fitness minutes minimum. That's just over 30 min. avg per day. Sure you are busy, but a 15 min walk in the morning and 15 min walk in the evening will do it.
Annekathleen sets her goals every Sunday. If you look at her blogs, you see that she has her struggles, but she is making long-term progress! BonnieCO, a new member, says this: "Last Stand. This is like my last hope." Wow, that just kills me. It is such a cry for help. Sparkpeople is supposed to be about helping each other. This team needs to wake up!
There is no excuse for not being active in Fort Collins. The culture of this city is ACTIVE! I lived in central Florida for a couple of years. I was an active cyclist while I lived there. Let me tell you, the culture of central Florida is NOT pro-cyclist! I had soft drinks dumped on me from passing cars. Once I had a pit bull chase me down the road as his owners encouraged him to "git that boy!" from their porch. You hardly ever see anyone on a bike. You hardly see people outdoors.
Wherever you live in Fort Collins you are not that far from the bike path. Get out today and walk the bike path. Do not sit around watching the Olympics. Do not sit around watching sports on tv. Think about it, you are sitting there watching other people exercise! Get outside and claim your life.
