Also, if others could please use that forum for events postings from now on (just start a new thread with the name and date of the event, or just the name if there is no specific date) that would help all our new members not get confused about which forums will have what information! Thanks so much!!

I'll have to see since I signed up already. I'll let everyone know if the even organizer can still let me make a team.

CO_VANESSA If you can start a team for SparkDenver members, that would be awesome. If you do, start a thread and share the info in the Events & Goals forum.

Has anyone ever done the Moonlight Classic bike ride in downtown Denver? I've done it and it's a GREAT time. www.moonlight-classic.com/
It's basically a leisurely bike ride throughout downtown at night (first wave is at 10:30pm). It's about 10 miles long and it's not a race. It's late at night so they shut down a lot of streets (I think Speer stays open but they set up cones for us on bikes).
I'm signed up and I'll be doing the 11pm wave. Come join me!

VERY cool! That's the weekend of my birthday and I don't have a run in April yet! I may just have to do it!!! Thanks for the heads up, Darlene!!! And ya know, that's plenty of time to train to do it yourself... even if you just walk it! :)

I got something on Living Social today about a Rave Run 5k Light Show. It is a night run on April 20. I don't do those things as of now, but that looks interesting with all the glow in the dark gear. I thought maybe some who do the 5k races would be interested. https://www.livingsocial.com/events/610676 -the-rave-run-5k-light-show-registration

Is there anyone on the team who would be interested in doing a relay? I've only ever done 5Ks to this point, and I just don't think I'm ready for anything much longer. Especially since I don't have much time to train.

It's April 15th. http://www.platteriverhalf.com/ It's a half marathon, or you can get a team together to run it as a relay. I've never done it, but it's always been on my "to do" list because I love the platte trail (although I'm usually biking it). I didn't know I was going to be doing a HM so early in the season, so I'm not expecting to set any PR's, but I know I'll have fun either way. (Unless there's a crazy spring blizzard, lol!)

I'm also signed up for the 10th Annual Platte River Half & Buckhorn Exchange Relay in April. I think it's pretty much the flattest course you're going to find in Denver, PLUS Buckhorn provides lunch so you know it will be yummy!

Don't forget the Cherry Creak Sneak is coming as well and they have added a 10 mile run this year. Not that I will be doing that as they still have the 5k and I think the 5 miler.

An Event coming up... Michael Pollan will be talking at The Paramount Theater on Feb 29 at 7:30. For those who don't know what Michael Pollan addresses in his writing here is a brief synopsis from his site:
For the past twenty-five years, Michael Pollan has been writing books and articles about the places where nature and culture intersect: on our plates, in our farms and gardens, and in the built environment. He is the author of four New York Times bestsellers

Hi Everyone!! :)
My husband is signing up for the Tough Mudder in June here in Colorado!! We are looking to get a group together to do it!
Looks crazy and intense. I'll cheer him on from the sidelines!! LOL :)
Wow, nice work you two! Sounds like fun in a torturous way between ice and cold. I saw some pics of my friends and it looked frigid. I hope to be able to catch one with the Denver Sparkers next year, I will make it a goal. Cheryl nice work on your first and improved time!

It was FRREEEEEZZZZZING!!! But we did it!!!! Our FIRST 5k with a 38.11 finishing time. LOL it wasn't great timing but I feel I accomplished my first one!!! I didn't train much at all and last weekend I did one in AZ as practice and time was 44 min. So I feel I made progress.
Anna thanks.... Sorry you missed out! It was a bit icy. It was actually easier to run on it than walk. LOL
Sure was cold out there! And icy. I'm surprised I didn't bust my butt on some of that course. I didn't meet up with anyone, unfortunately, so I hope there were some people out!

I got into doing this run because of SKISINCO - cause she rocks! I needed to start my own team this year to support an alumni thing, but she still started me on this path!
Cheryl, so glad to hear you and your husband are doing the 5k! Here's to the upcoming event bringing tons of motivation!
