Thanks for the feedback. I did take the plunge and joined. Wish I would have seen your reply sooner Amy, would have asked for Don if signing up new members would benefit him. If any of you fellow Life Timers ever care to meet up (accountability) that would be awesome. My plan is to take advantage of the Zumba classes offered Sunday morning & Monday & Tuesday @ 6:30. Tonight I am gonna try my hand (and legs) at Cardio Kickboxing.
Yes, the class selection make it worth while!
Oh and I just discovered they are hosting a Turkey Trot 5k to benefit the Alg/LITH food pantry!! I am excited about that. I was planning on doing the Long Grove Turkey Trot but this is closer to home (plus my dad is part of designing the new food pantry)

I am a member at Lifetime and love it! I used to go to the one in Warrenville until I moved up here. Yes it is a little pricey but they have so much to offer with classes and so much more equipment. I have been to Healthbridge as well but to me it felt more hospital like than fitness. My boyfriend works at Lifetime in Algonquin in membership if you want to talk to someone who has been a member at both as well as an employee at both- his name is Don. He lost over 140lbs using the trainers and classes at Lifetime and is a fitness buff now...here is his story if you want to see how he did it... http://www.experiencelife.com/issues/may-2 010/fit-body/from-desperate-to-determi ned.php Hope that helps!

I love having a gym membership! I was a member at Lifetime in Algonquin years ago when they first opened and I thought it was very nice! I did end up cancelling my membership because it was just a little too far to drive and I found I wasn't going very often. I have since joined HealthBridge and cannot say enough good things about it! And it's so much closer to where I live... I mostly go to the Crystal Lake club, but I do enjoy the Huntley location as well. I love the equipment, the variety of classes, and more recently, the pools.
I do know quite a few people who workout at Lifetime and I haven't heard anything negative. I hope it works out for you!
As the colder weather creeps upon us, I am seriously contemplating splurging on a gym membership even if just til the weather warms again.
I have looked into the $19/mo memberships vs the $59/mo membership. That is a large difference in price however at this point my thought is leaning towards the Mega Gym (Lifetime in Algonquin). My reasoning....ZUMBA!!! There are 3 classes that fit into my schedule in addition to the other group classes offered there. I suppose the additional cost is well worth it IF I use it to the full extent.
Anyone else here a member? What are your thoughts/reviews on the gym?
