Glad to hear it's not just me who's confused on the arms! First time through BIU, I think my left one got all the work, but now I watch to make sure both arms get equal time.

I've been doing BIU this past week, and lost three pounds this week! For a total of 10 lbs in Sept. I have been doing just the cardio portion so far as I keep having a half hour to workout but not a whole hour at once, but I plan to wake up at 5:30 am each morning and do the whole thing from now on (or another workout). I really enjoy it but will get bored soon, and then will switch to Chalean Extreme. or rotate the two.

BIU pet peeve.... I LOVE this workout but I get irritated with her cueing in several places. She doesn't keep count out loud and then will announce what the next move is while she is starting it so for the first couple you are figuring out what you are switching to. I am sure by next week I will have it all memorized and down but in the meantime I emd up missing 1 or 2 of the first reps for several of the moves. Rant over :)

Did BIU for the first time today! I really didn't have to stop except for a couple of times when I was confused as to what the move was. Also have to watch closely during resistance bands because she switches back and forth betweeen arms - I am certain I did 1 arm 2 times for a couple of exercises. I liked it - burned 670 calories but I really don't like workouts that are over an hour. 45 - 50 min is my ideal. Will get through these next 3 weeks and hope that Keep it Up is shorter :-p

It was a challenge, I had to take breaks and not do as many reps with certain exercises but after it was done I felt great. You should go for it, the more you push yourself the stronger you will get and you will build your endurence.

I am cheering for you :)

Let me know how it goes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ANGELICSTEPHY Thank you so much for encouraging me to do BIU. Well because of your post I decided to give it a try. Why not...worse case I don't do the whole thing, I push myself and do what I can.....

It was hard and I took very small breaks and some exercises I didn't do all the reps but I DID IT!!!!! My heart rate was going between 150 to 169 and I burned 455 calories. Now if I could manage my food as well, there I am failing miserably :(

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU that are capable of doing this daily. I don't know how you do it. Every other day is enough for me and in between I walk between 4 & 5 miles.

Have a great day everyone,
Melina

I thought the same thing when I watched it! I promise it is a lot easier than it looks. I didn't have any problems with my knees just a little sore in my inner thighs first. But I am really strong at doing squats..and lunges leave me a bit sore. I also think the ab work got a lot easier too!

The first day I did Burn It Up I was sick but only paused it four times...and It has gotten so much easier and I just have done it a week while sick :) Heartbeat is pretty up during the whole thing. But Giving it your best..even if you pause..is still the main goal! Even she says Breaks are fine!

Don't forget Lots and Lots of water. Good Luck!

emoticon I can do 20 push ups now and the lunges are not so intimidating. I still have to conquer the Pliers(?). However I see little improvement in upper arms and the inner thighs. Have to work on those trouble areas.
Keep pushing play.

Hi Everyone, Today I'm pleased to say I have completed SI6, It took 6 weeks and 5 days but I'm finished I feel sooo good knowing I actually complete the entire program yay!!! emoticon
At first I wasn't sure I would be able to stick at it as it felt a little boring during the last 4 weeks (BIU) so I played my own music and kept the workout on mute, Worked a charm!!
I followed my own healthy eating plan which still needs some tweaking but I getting there. emoticon

This is my schedule:
Start it up (1st week)
Ramp It Up (2nd week)
Burn It Up (4 remaining weeks)

Here are the measurements:
Weight: Before-171.8 After 166.2
Body fat: Before-35.0 After 32.4
Hydration: Before-47.8 After 49.7
Arms:Before-13.5" After 12.75"
Waist Before-35.5" After 34"
Thighs Before- 25.5" After 25"

It was tough to get through but it was definitely worth it I have much more energy during the day and now I sleep better at night no more insomnia!!! My arms are no longer look like legs that actually look lean and I can see some definition. emoticon
I'm starting Jillian Michaels 30 day shred next.

All the best to everyone you're doing great keep up the fantastic work. emoticon

the calorie burn will also depend on the effort one puts in. I for one I do not work at same effort as is shown in the work out so I believe I burn less but on the other hand if one is on the heavy side compared to Debbie one might burn more than 500 calories. The most important thing to do it.
Keep pushing play.

I read the same thing about the 500 calories for the BUI workout. I posted a breakdown for BIU on this thread. If it's 500 calories for the whole thing then the aerobics portion must be at least 250 burned. That's what i've been tracking for fitness. I figure I burned more than that then GREAT!!! I'd rather burn more than actually tracked than less :)

One question: Does anyone know how many calories we are burning in each one of the Slim in 6 series?: Start it up, Ramp it up... interesting...I just read about the calculations for Burn it up being 500 calories... I keep waffling between putting it under aerobics verses calisthenics... am I wrong? please help me, my weight is at a standstill and I think my calculations are off.. thanx.

I tried to make the switch from RIU to BIU too soon. I felt like I was gonna die doing it...lol. So I did another week of RIU while I was at a friends' house baby and petsitting and that really prepped me good for BIU. I've been doing BIU for the last three weeks and it does get better and you feel stronger with each day. I've done this program in the past but rushed it too much. I remember at that time I had to cut BIU in half but now I've been doing the entire wordout each day. I feel that's mostly because I was patient and gave myself the time to move to the next when I was ready. Now in week 5 I have NO DOUBT I'll make through week 6 and see some great results. The last couple of weeks since I started seriously tracking intake has been incredible. Keep it up and pace yourself. It's the secret to KIU (keep it up) :) emoticon

After doing BUI for a few days it was driving me crazy not to be able to log the entire program into Spark. So I created a strength training program all on its own so I would only have to press one button. And then then cardio after some research online, came up with a decent calorie burn for the first half hour. Here is what I have been logging.

Slim in 6: Burn it up

Aerobics portion:
30 minutes = 250 calories

Ab crunches (floor) 6 16
Ab double crunch (floor) 1 16
Ab oblique crunches (floor) 2 16
back rows with band 4 12
bicep curls with band 3 8
Hamstring Curls (floor) 2 16
Hamstring Press (floor) 2 16
Leg Extension (floor) 2 16
Leg Raises Straight Leg (Floor) 2 16
shoulder press with band 2 12
triceps press (band) 1 16

I went to a website that said the entire BIU portion expends about 500 calories so I'm thinking the 250 calories for the first half hour is less than generous. We might even be burning more. By the time I'm into the second round of standing ab work, I am sweating something silly :)

Feel free to use this if you like.

Do you think this would be good to put into a blog or just leave here where it's all about BIU?

Ok I've been doing BIU for about 2 weeks and went back to RIU today for a switch. I found that it is not as rushed as BIU and I was able to do each move better, steadier, and more consistent. I like the RIU abs routine better too. Any thoughts?

Burn it Up also makes me drip sweat still, but it's the same every day and so I decided to try the p90x. One of the main differences with the first DVD I tried (Core Synergistics) was that there was a whole lot I couldn't even do because of weak muscles. They say this will change over time. So, while I did sweat a lot AND get my heart rate up, I didn't like the feeling of walking away from it not being able to do so much. Whereas, with SI6, I can do the whole thing.

Let us know how the P90X goes. It would be interesting to see how it compares to SI6, which still leaves me wiped out by the end.

One more thing. My main problem with all the butt work is the hip that's supporting my body/holding it up (wrists and arms too, but I just change back and forth between being on my forearms and being on my hands). Anyway, that hip hurts more than the one that's working.

I finished my 9th day of "Burn it Up" today and added the extra abs workout to it. I noticed that I'm getting stronger and needed to adjust my bands today to give myself that extra kick. Feels good, but I still sweat in huge drops and get pretty out of breath. I've borrowed the p90x DVD's and have been considering substituting them for "Burn it Up." Is there anyone who went from Slim in 6 straight to p90x here? I'm wondering if I'm going to die doing p90x and I'm a little scared of trying. I may watch some bits and pieces of it to see what I think. I plan to do the p90x Lean.

Just finished my first workout of Burn it Up and I must say it was quite a workout! I took some breaks and I sweated buckets! I got through the whole thing yay! Towards the end of Ramp it up I switched from the lowest (dark pink) resistance band to the medium (orange-pink) resistance band. But the new resistance exercises on this video really kicked it up a notch and I had to go back to the dark pink bands. I hope tomorrow's workout will be better.

I've been neglecting my BIU for other activties and I can tell you I miss it. I honestly believe I get a better cardio doing this for 30 minutes than anything else I have tried (outside of KB)

First day of BIU. OUCH! I got through it but it was painful. Those plie plus on your toes are killer after all the squats. I know it gets better the more you do it, so I'll keep pressing play.

After 1.5 weeks of now doing it I'm ok with it. I still dislike the last part of the resistance bands. I can't seem to do the on behind my head completely. Other than that I do the entire thing, minus the yoga. I quite like it. Measurements yesterday proved it is working. 1.5" lost off my waist; 1.5" lost off my thighs; 1" lost off my hips. So 4" gone this month. I will keep going. Another week or so I'll be getting Kettleworx and starting it and taking a break from SIU.
6 weeks of Kettlworx if I like it and hopefully more inches gone. I need to get rid of 3 more in my waist; 4 more in my thighes and 2 more in my hips!

I did my first day of BURN IT UP! Wowza. I know it gets easier because I did this before, but MAN! It was so hard -- The first segment with the side kicks I just about quit, but in the end I pushed through so now I'm feeling good. Wahoo! I did have a little knee clicking too -- I don't really know how to make it less stressful on the knees. My goal is to push play every day this week!

Every journey begins with a single step.

UGHHHHH! I just finished day one of Burn it Up. Please tell me it gets easier. I remember feeling a bit discouraged when I started Ramp it Up, but this was even more overwhelming. I am happy to say I got through the whole video, but paused many times and sometimes had to walk or jog through.

Something new happened to me today - when I was doing the lunges, my right knee started clicking. It didn't hurt, but it was repetitively doing it every time my knee was bent. I've never had knee problems. Has this happened to anyone before?

That's a great idea - because I am always fried after the first 32 minutes. Will try the strength part first tonight.

I tried BIU for the first time Wed., and only got through 32 mins and gave up. The next day I set my target to do the 32 mins and feel happy about it.
Today I started where the cardio portion ended and resistance bands started so that I could see what was going on with the half I hadn't gotten to yet. So I did the entire 2nd half starting with the resistance bands and then went back to the beginning and did it up to the resistance bands. So I did the entire thing, just a bit mixed up. It's a killer workout.

I love the Burn it Up dvd but I will confess I only do the cardio portion; than switch over to the SP for strength videos or to the shred.

But by time the last set of side crunches etc comes around I am exhausted.

BIU 6pack and limber were all done today. Feeling wiped out and waiting on my herbal tea to steep. I keep saying to myself everyday is one day closer to finishing. Not that I don't like the program, just feels like doing the same workout for the next 4 weeks is going to get old really quick.

Skipped my last 2 days of Ramp last week and did Burn for the first time today. I was fun but man, LONG. And she snuck in fanny lifts at the end too. Hope to be able to keep up the Burn it up for the remainder of the calendar. My goal is to post everyday I do it....so expect the same message. :-)

Today was my last day of Ramp It Up. I'm finally going to do Burn It Up tomorrow. I'm excited and scared at the same time. Excited because for the many times I've started this program I never made it through to BIU so I feel great about finally making it this far after starting a cycle. Scared because I know this is going to be intense emoticon

hi ...i'm still here...i have two more days left and that i can officially say that i've graduated from slim in 6 lol..i will say that the last two weeks have been reallllllly hard for me because i'm super bored, even with adding my own music and such...but i keep pressing play and i can't wait to take my measurements and be done with it....

i did buy the next dvd, keep it up, or whatever it is called..so i'm anxious to try that out...ill just be glad to say i finished slim in 6 lol...

and i haven't seen her either...to be truthful though, i don't really post in here all that much only in the Burn it up thread because i can't say that i'm super hoooyahhhh about the program...

emoticon I hope everyone is still pushing play and getting the most out of it!! Me on the other hand, am not. I think it is time for me to move on. I love Slim in six and I love this team, however, I don't think I should've committed to another full six weeks. I'm beginning to miss workouts and losing motivation. I think 6 wks may be too long for one work out. I started the Start It Up in June and did RIU then BIU then started theSI6 challenge the second time. emoticon

Has anyone herd from HOPEFUL? I am concerned about her. I heard there was massive explosion in Cali on Sept 9th. I thought she said she lived in Cali, but not sure were. It's not like her to no be posting. Not that I really "know" her but.... just miss not seeing her around.

Good luck to everyone.

I finally did my 1st session of Burn it up! I have kind of been missing my workouts lately, been really tired and have been slacking on my workouts last week and this w/e. Today I was feeling much better and was thinking about the workout all day. So I pushed play....woohoo! what a doozy! I finished it, but I can't even remember how many times I had to stop and rewind and stop and catch my breath. I don't know if it's cuz I have bad balance but I always have to adjust myself throughout the leg moves, especially the lunges...I keep falling over! LOL! Oh well, tomorrow is another day. I'm totally counting this one too!

Ya know....I think it's safe to say the Start and Ramp are great at working the muscles and getting things going; but, Burn it Up is sooooo cardio intense! Even now (I've been doing this since...um March?) I still get winded at 30 minutes praying for that break to come so I can hit pause and go pee.

WOW! Yesterday was my first go with Burn it Up... and I was DRIPPING and huffing and puffing half way through! I loved it!! I felt amazing when it was done...I think because it was done! hahaha! I was really happy with how hard I felt I worked, and I think I will see results in the next couple of weeks. I am done with week 1 (yay!), no weight changes, but feeling good just the same. I have to admit, I would like to see the scale change by even one pound, but I am willing to do the work to get there... it will happen, and I will keep pressing play. I don't think I would be so motivated if it were not for this team and this forum to check in and share and hear about others journeys... thanks Sixers! Keep pressing play!

Hey! I just found the team! I've been doing the Burn It Up for a couple of weeks now. I just moved up to using 10 lb. weights during the strength training and still use 5 for triceps.

I'm pretty pleased with the results I'm seeing so far, even with me having to take some breaks here and there....um, for water you know ;)

Does anyone have achey knees? I just wonder if I might be doing something wrong, but I really focus on putting the weight on my heels when I do the squats. The squats, lunges, pliets, etc. are killing my knees! I don't want to stop because right now all I have is Slim in 6 and a handful of Leslie Sansone. Every time I do Leslie Sansone, I feel like I want something more intense.

So I have done Burn it Up for MORE than 4 days in a row (finally) and can say: last night was the easiest fastest hour ever. Thank Goodness!

Hoping when I push play today, it's the same way and I can look forward to the next DVD...Keep it Up. Gonna go order it now :o)

I haven't done Burn it Up in ages (been doing P90X) and man, did it ever burn me up today! emoticon What a great workout!

The Slim Series workouts are awesome, too. Much more variety than Slim in 6 since you get 6 dvds with that program. I am thinking of doing it again as I actually miss it lol!

Hope others are still PP!

I don't own any of the Slim Series dvds, other than the set I got (Start it up, Ramp it up, Burn it up, Slim & 6 pack, Slim and Limber). I am curious about them though. I'll probably start on something different after I make it to 6 weeks, but who knows... I need to change things up after a while to prevent boredom... But I kinda want to keep at the Burn it up workout until I can use the red bands, to give myself a challenge.

I did do a cardio workout from the Hip Hop Abs program this past weekend since I saw the infomercial and it made me want to do the workout. I used HHA before but it didn't give me the total body toning that Slim in 6 gives me. I might try that again later down the line... depending on my ab results from Slim in 6. So far my waist is shrinking like Debbie says in the dvd. Her workout really works for me.

That's where I'm hoping to get to. A level of 1) completing it without the "take a break if needed" (cuz I DO) and 2) going up in resistance bands.

Do you do the series as well? (keep it up, etc)

Anyone else? Or do you find Burn it Up daily is sufficient for toning up?

I'm Burning It Up! Still working out consistently everyday... I recently started using stronger bands. I was using the pink ones. Now I'm on PURPLE! It's no telling when I can use the red ones but I'm just happy I'm stronger and went up a level. It's challenging though, it's to be expected whenever you start at a new level. I can finally get through the Burn It Up workout without having to take a break. The floor work where you kick back, pointed kick, and kick up is the hard part but I can do that without having to stop now.

Yay!
