I'm a twin, so birthdays were always a big deal when I was young - up to 4 cakes spread over a week. I don't especially like cake, anymore, so we go out to dinner to a nice restaurant, someplace we wouldn't go just anytime, but no parties or cake.

May 31, sometimes falls on Memorial Day Monday and I get my birthday off work. emoticon

Who I am really keeps surprising me.

My family stopped throwing birthday parties when I was 10. Only 2 people came, my best friend and the girl who just moved in next to her. Can't remember when anyone even last remembered what day it was.

My family forgot my 13th birthday. It is Halloween so there are usually lots of things going on.

Most of the time my family forgets about my birthday.
When I was 16 I actually had a day when no one remembered.
I was away at school and my parents never sent a card and none of the teachers bothered to check. since then I mostly never tell people my birthday.
I buy myself presents and don't really fuss over others' birthdays except children.

Mine is next year too -- just barely. Jan. 2. It doesn't seem to be much of a problem for me because my family doesn't do much to celebrate it. Generally get taken out to eat, but generally no cake &/or ice cream. Guess I should count my blessings! LOL

I don't know about the rest of you but my birthday is a hard day to stay on track. Dinners, cake and ice cream, and sweet goodies. Post your birthday here for some extra motivation on your birthday.
