Oh I'm so glad you had a great time in Yosemite! Did you do any hike that you'd recommend for when I go back next year? The boat on the river today sounds deliciously summery too. How fun!

well Yosemite was everything I had hoped for. Today as the weather is gorgeous, yet once again...we took the boat out on the Sacramento River. Hubby was elated as it's the first tmie this season we got to take it out. Was nice...went with my brother and his wife and stopped by Joe's Crab Shack for lunch

Lots of boat traffic on the river....

Without looking at a map, I'm not sure where Groveland is, but every area is beautiful in Yosemite. The Mist Trail is gorgeous, for sure. We usually take ponchos (from $Tree) or you can make your own by cutting slits in large plastic trash can liners. It can be a bit challenging, but the views from the top, and seeing Vernal Falls at the top makes it all worthwhile. From Vernal Falls you can hike on up to Nevada Falls as well. The trail divides farther up (I don't remember if it divides at Vernal or Nevada Falls) and you can choose to hike towards Half Dome or take the John Muir Trail. The Four Mile Trail is also a great hike, but it's very steep. There are less steep hikes, depending on the ages of your children. I'd suggest getting a good book on Yosemite hiking. You can probably pick one up locally, or the stores in Yosemite Valley will have a selection. Just being in Yosemite is magical. It's one of my favorite places on Earth. Enjoy your time!

Hubby was just recovering from his stroke and he still had some numbness in his arm.
So we took the bus tours. We got lots of great information and we had a great time.
He was slow but he was so excited about the beauty, he was motivated to keep going.
P.S. He is back to normal now. It was quite a while for us.

well, we've never been there so I just needed ideas all the way around. I didn't want to find myself sitting at camp cuz I was unprepared. LOL

We are camping near Groveland, I believe it is called? Tom suggest "Misty falls" might be good for the whole family...ever heard of it?

Hi Hopeful!

I just noticed your post about Yosemite. Yay for you! I know how excited you must be for your trip. I just got back from Yosemite last week. I'm not sure what your question for the other Sparkie is, but if you think I can help, shoot me a spark mail or respond to this post. My family and I go every June, and we plan different hikes each time. Last year we hiked to the top of Upper Yosemite Falls. It was challenging but gorgeous. This year we hiked up to Sub Dome, right before Half Dome. We also hiked the Four Mile Trail, which is actually 4.7 miles and it gains 3200 feet of elevation. Two years ago we hiked to Cloud's Rest, and that is 12 miles each way. If I can help in any way with info or encouragement, let me know! Have an awesome time!

Debbie
