Although I just moved here, I have been going out to Mt. Lemmon 3 times a week; no less than twice. I get an awesome workout and the views are amazing. Depending on what you're into, there are plenty of trails differing in difficulty and tons of stuff to see if you go off trail.

Personally, I like to climb and explore. Scrabbling up boulders and reaching the top of the mountain is awesome strength training and the rush is amazing! There is plenty of wildlife to see (deer, mountain lions, bugs galore).

I highly recommend Bug Spring Trail. Its about 4.3 miles long. Desert-like atmosphere with differing elevation. There is no shade so be sure to bring plenty of snacks, water, and sunscreen.

Another place I frequent is the picnic area just after mile 11. It is cooler temperature-wise and is more of a forest climate. There are tons of areas to explore and even has fairly clean bathroom if you aren't as keen on watering the trees.

Hope this helps :)

I started walking Tumamoc with friends at work. We are trying to go 4 days a week (two evenings and weekend mornings). It is a great feeling when you reach the top. The city view is amazing. I am hoping that this helps with my weightloss.

TAKE THE INITIATIVEl

Don't sit around waiting for enought energy to get going. Get yourself moving and you'll create the energy necessary to keep you in motion. Do yu just not feel like doing anything? That's the time when you can make the biggest positive differnece for yourself by going ahead and taking action anyway. In ways small and largem your world right now is filled with opportunities to make a difference. Take the initiative. The only thing you need to take the first step is

I definitely recommend doing Tumamoc! I did it 3 days a week for a month and it was a great kick start to refocusing my training plan. I have not walked it in a couple of months, but every so often, the hill calls my name and I am there. It is a great distance and you can feel the strength training as well! (Abs, back, legs, etc.) I love stretching at the top of the hill early morning or early evening and saying hello to the city. It is very powerful - it was really hard for me about a 1 year and a half ago and now I can jog parts. I love Tumamoc and I live in Marana- it is definitely worth the drive.

You're inspiring me to get down there and walk it just to see if I can!! I know I would struggle. Please let me know if you post pictures of the hill. I would love to see them!

Shortly after the jogger passed me, he turned around and passed me again. He was SUPER NICE and very gracious about the whole episode. And not bad to look at, either, I might add. A shirtless, muscular guy in red jogging shorts can pass me anytime on my bike hehe.

Great job on walking that hill!
I don't personally walk it but I have a couple friends I know who enjoy walking it as well. They are not sparkers though. :)

Welcome to SP! I keep hearing how great that hill is, but I don't live close enough to justify the drive across town, especially during rush hour. So how's it going for you?

I have a funny story to share. Last weekend I was cycling the 8 mile loop in Saguaro East, which is very hilly. I was really struggling on my bike...huffing and puffing, barely going fast enough to stay upright on my bike. I knew I was going slowly, but I had no idea how bad it was until I was passed up by a jogger. LOL! emoticon Moral of the story: Don't ever let 'em get you down, because no matter what your speed is, you're still doing laps around the couch potatoes.

You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
You can steer yourself
any direction you choose.
You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go....
