I'm new to this website and I'm trying to find an activity partner. I live in the NW part of town. I'd like to find someone to walk with in the evening or weekends. Even walking at Tucson or Foothills Mall is good. Also bike rides...Please reply if you're interested. Thanks!!

Hi, long time SP member, first time posting to this team page :)
My name is Gina, and I was just wondering if anyone still has walking groups that meet regularly. If you do, could you use one more?
I'm generally on the East Side or the center of town. Maybe Udall or Reid parks?
Happy exercising! :D

Don't want to drive twenty miles to meet up for a walk. Please message me if interested so we could get "moving." Thanks You can email me at forgiven4@cox.net

Maybe you could send a private message to the other few who mentioned wanting to walk at Reid Park?

So because of the continuing interest in walking at Reid Park, I guess I'm going to get the ball rolling here!
Email me at ( Squerky@gmail.com ) For those of you interested and available this Saturday the 10th of September, we will start walking at 5:30pm. Even if there is only 1 other person willing to do it with me, I'll be there! Weight loss isn't going to start with me sitting on my darn couch! :D

I'm noticing a lot of these posts are kind of old. I work near Reid Park and would be interested in walking after work, maybe. I am going to Meet Me At Maynards for the first time tonight. Anyone else do this on Monday evenings? It could be another way to get a group together.

I live close to the Tucson Mall. I see a few people on this thread do also. Have you gotten a group yet? I'd be able to walk in the early evenings.
Has anyone thought of getting a group to walk Sabino Canyon once a week?

If you tell us when you're going, I'll see if I can come. I like walking reid park and don't really know where the pantano river park is, but I'm on the eastside so I wouldn't mind it if it were on a monday or tuesday night or saturday after 3

Hello, I just read your posting! The posting is fairly old from January of this year about finding a walking/jogging buddy. I live off of Campell and River, probably 5 mins away from Tucson Mall. I am back at trying to get going/moving and doing another 5k. The Rillito Path off off Cambell and River is right next door to me :)

Hi everyone! It looks like this board hasn't been used very much lately, but I'd be up for having a walking buddy. I like to do the Reid Park Loop 2-3 times walking and I'm trying to start integrating jogging into that, but I'm really new to jogging and can't do it for long. I do sometimes go with my best friend, but she doesn't always want to go every night that I want to and I would love to meet new people to go with on her off nights. If you want to work up to it with me, I'd love a buddy!

Hi Everyone, I would really like a walking buddy. I live in front of Reid Park and would like to walk either early mornings (5:30-6:30) or evenings (anytime between 6pm-10pm). I would also like to do a weekly challenge of Tumamoc Hill maybe on Saturdays? Really hoping someone can join me! Thanks, Nina

Hi, Looking for someone to walk/workout with as well. I live in the I-10/Ruthrauff area and work by the airport. So, I would prefer not to have to drive anywhere far to go walking everyday. If anyone lives close by and would like to walk with me let me know. Have a great night.

Hi everyone, I could really use a walking or workout partner. I live near Sabino Canyon, and also have a free workout room at my apartment complex that has 2 treadmills, 2 bikes, weights, stair machines, a tv, etc... but I've had trouble finding a regular workout partner in the past because of how far I seem to live from everyone else, and/or my work schedule.
The only times I have are either SUPER early in the morning, meaning 5am at the LATEST to start out Monday through Friday, or some weekdays at 9:30 to 10:30am. Other than that, it would have to be evenings after 6pm, or weekends.
If anyone is interested, and lives close to here, I'd love to hear from you :)

I know there hasn't been much in the way of postings here but I'm happy to try to put together a Friday or weekend walk around Reid Park - but because of the drive for me would need to be 2 or 3 times around to make it really worth while for me. Let me know if someone else is interested.

If anyone lives around the University, is a student (you get free access to the gym), alumni or whatever you can get a membership to the Rec Center gym there. I'm a student right now and am trying to get my bum in gear to work out at 6am there. So if anyone would like to join me, let me know. I'll probably start on Monday 12/7. It's finals week so I'm going to need some stress relief, but then we have Winter break. Anyway, it's a start.

Well, I'm new here sort of. I was on this site a year ago. I have done well until I had to have shoulder surgery and put some weight back on thru my recoup time. So I need to get rid of those few pounds I have gain back. Looking for a 15 lb. weight lost. Anyway now that I'm all better I thought what better way to get back in to shape and to challenge myself then to do a Triathlon. Well a mini one anyway. I'm in week one of my training and I was wondering if any of you would like to join me in this training? It really start off slow so you don't have to worry about it being over your exercise level. The training is for 24 weeks and builds up very gradual. And if by training ends and it doesn't kill ourselves(lol) we could sign up for the Tri-sprint in Mesa in the spring. Right now I do my workout at the LA fitness on the East side of town. But I can take it outside at least with the running and biking part. Swimming I have to do at the gym. So if any of you would like to join me or help me thru this training with at least biking or running that would be great. I really hate to exercise by my self and want a buddy. By the way I'm just walking right now no running yet that doesn't come time week 3. And biking is only a couple of miles right now and swimming is just a couple of laps. Like I said it starts off real slow. So please is there anyone one who needs a work out buddy please let me know.

Well...I live in Oro Valley and don't have transportation, but would love it if anyone in the area would like to join me for my morning walks. I do a 4 mile loop from my complex through and around the Oro Valley Country Club...I try to go about 8 am while it's still cool, but am willing to wait a little longer if I had someone to walk with. I would love the company...anyone interested....just let me know! Kris

Hey all!! (and fellow team leaders)
I decided to make this a "sticky" topic so it's easy to find and (hopefully) will keep it active so folks can buddy up as often as possible!

As of yet, I don't think there are any regularly schedule groups, but feel free to suggest times and locations.
(I have a sneaking suspicion most people are waiting for others to suggest times, so don't be shy. ;)

So sorry I missed the walk on Sunday. I need to get started walking, again -- been months. Do walking groups meet anywhere regularly?

Oh, wanted to add that I will be wearing black athletic shorts with white stripes down the sides, a black shirt, and I have blonde hair...I'm 24, but look 18 or 19. LOL.

Sounds good. Can't wait to meet you. Been there with the whole eating and emotions thing...not fun at all. Just try not to be too hard on yourself. One step forward and two back, but eventually you'll get where you want to be. :-)

I am so sad I missed this. I did get the shot in my mouth and I feel sooooo much better.
If anyone wants to join me I'm going to walk Reid Park tomorrow morning (Sunday) at 8am.

Cheryl,
Was great meeting you & having a walking buddy today. Was a great way for me to ease back into my workouts for next week.
Hope we can a group together again - maybe next weekend? Steph

I really, really, really hate to bail on the last second, but I'm not going to be able to make the walk. My top right wisdom tooth is hurting so much that I feel nauseous and have a migraine. If anyone wants to walk on Sunday I would be up for that...assuming this pain stops. I'm going to go to urgent care and see about getting a shot to tide me over until I can get to the dentist.

Well, I know I am capable of walking 10 miles...I used to walk to Target on Old Spanish Trail from where I used to live and back and that was a total of 10 miles. So, I should definitely be good to go for 3 miles. :-)
I was actually curious because my husband needs to pick me up from Reid Park between 9:30 and 9:45 because we're going to my mom's house tomorrow...he's helping her around the house...handy man type stuff.

The loop itself is about 3 miles. But I'm happy to pace it to what you're able to do... either taking the whole thing slow, or only going a short distance then turning around.

Ok Ladies, 2 of us are meeting tomorrow (saturday 9/12) morning at 8am in front of the Rec Center (East side of the park, off of Alvernon)
We may even go to Bruggers afterwards for a post-workout snack. ;)

I think once the weather gets cooler it would be great to have a walking group in the evenings or weekends. I'm over on the eastside, so Reid park would work for me. Plus, it would give us a chance to interact outside of the boards!!

Well, at one point there was a semi-regular Tues/Thurs evening walk around Reid Park group...
I can't recall who was the organiser of it, but now that the weather is getting nicer, it would be nice to have a regular group get together for folks... either on a week night or a saturday morning.
Thoughts?
I do think it's awesome to find a walking buddy, though, to keep you motivated during the week!

A while back I heard that there is a walking group at the park. I thought it was through parks and rec, but can't recall now...

Hey, I'll take what I can get. Once in a while is better than none. :-) I would totally come to your side of town, but I don't drive...long story short, I have a huge phobia of driving.

Well, that sounds like something different to do, and though I live up by Orange Grove and the Freeway, I drove all the way to the Saguaro National Park, EAST, yesterday to walk the Cactus Forest trail. I would not be able to walk with you regular, but once in awhile would be fun! Kathy

I'm new to spark people...about 2 weeks or so. I'm really loving it so far and have done well with altering my diet, but I really need to start adding in some exercise. I would love to find a walking buddy. I live off of 22nd street, between Columbus and Alvernon, so I am really close to Reid Park and if I recall, they have a pretty nice track to walk. I am pretty out of shape so running is totally out of the question for me, but I have very good endurance and can walk long distances at a decent pace. If anyone is interested let me know. :-)
