New Beginnings reminder = Today is the first day of the rest of my life

I get to decide if I am going to be "stuck in a rut" or if I am going to shake off the heaviness and press on and take hold of the PRIZE!

I stepped on the scale and saw a slight weight loss - after watching the scales go UP for the past year....

I decided that I have to do what it takes to overcome this depression and "Chronic Pain" and no more excuses...

Reminder: "Nothing TASTES as good as healthy FEELS!"

So, that in mind, I had a small bowl of Chia Pudding made with homemade Almond Milk, Chia Seeds, Banana, Vanilla, Xylitol and Stevia.

I am not going to have that second cup of coffee.... even though I want one...

I am going to drink half my body weight in ounces of water each day - adding Emergen-C drink packets or fresh lemon juice to each glass or jug, to get the nutrients my body needs.

Time to "Just Do It" (insert Nike Swoop) emoticon

I can't believe it is snowing in March. I still got out and did week 1 day 1 of the couch to 5k despite the flurries. It was cold though.

Snow, in Alabama?
Not unheard of, but not 'the norm"

My husband came home from work early yesterday and told me about all the vehicles he saw in the ditches along his path home. I hope no one was seriously hurt...

Having grown up in Northern NY, near the Canadian Border, when it snows most months of the year, I'm used to driving in the snow.

The thing is, I stay off the roads in bad weather, because not everyone is used to driving in such road conditions...

January 15 - Depression has gotten the best of me... emoticon

Time to pull myself up by my boot straps, as my Dad used to say...

I started on a "Gluten-Free" and "Sugar-Free" Diet on 31 October, 2011
14 1/2 months now that I've been on this "Journey" emoticon

I added eating "Grain Free" on New Year's Day
I had no idea how much grain was in my diet until I agreed to join a friend on a Grain-Free diet....

I did mess up and had a Spring Roll, which had a Rice Wrapper, at the Vietnamese Restaurant, It was so good, with all those raw veggies.... After I ate it, I thought, that had a rice wrapper. Rice is a grain. {sigh}

But, I've done well for 14 out of 15 days! emoticon

I'm doing well at eating more Veggies, but need to do better at "Eating a Rainbow" of colorful veggies each day.

I make a couple salads that help me with this "goal"
They are so good...

I have done pretty well with drinking the Juice of a Lemon first thing in the morning with 12 oz. of room temp water. I slept in a few days, and forgot to start the day with lemon water on those days, but MOST days I start my day this way.

I'm not doing well with kicking the coffee habit. emoticon
Honestly, I want to... but it's a "habit" - something I do without thinking about it.

It's like I'm on automatic pilot in the morning, and my mind forgets that I'm supposed to drink less coffee - untill after the caffeine has kicked in to HIGH GEAR!

Setting Goals is a good thing.
I need to keep those goals in front of me....

Freddie, how's college going?

I remember my college days... I gained 20 pounds in my Freshman Year, then another... by the time I graduated, I was up several sizes and had so much debt...

BUT, I had an education! emoticon

I'm not just talking about the "learnin" and the piece of paper that said I had earned my degree.
No, I'm talking about the knowledge of how I gained all that weight... emoticon

Ramen Noodles, Hot Dogs, Boxed Mac-n-cheese... all "cheap" JUNK food...

I feel like I've been gone forever, but I'm ready to get back into the swing of things. Here is what I am starting on:
*Eat more veggies and fruit
*Eat better proportions, including minimizing meat to make room for more of the fruits and veggies
*Cut back on carbonated drinks
*Get back in touch with Spark for support/challenges

I'd like to lose 5 lbs this month to get me back on track. I've lost 2 since Jan 1, so I believe I can do this!

Hello! I plan picking up the pace with my workouts and food this year. I want to shoot for 1.5 pounds per week all year. That will give me a total of 78 pounds lost this year (6.5 a month). That will get me down to 230 by 12/31/13. I have had a lot more stress recently and I am starting college tomorrow so it will definitely be a interesting year.

I did a 3 day juice fast to "Reboot" my body.
I don't feel "Rebooted" - I guess it's time to go see a doc...

My energy levels are low from the "Chronic Fatigue" and "Fibromyalgia"

I decided to start the New Year off with a 3 Day Juice Fast.
I Juiced a Lemon first thing, and drank a BIG GLASS of water with the Lemon Juice.

That got things moving...

I spent over 2 hours unpacking boxes, and putting things away.... not that they will STAY there...

My goals for the first 100 days in 2013 and hopefully for the rest of my life:

- Drink half my body weight in ounces of water each day
- Drink the juice of a lemon first thing each day with 12 oz of room temperature water
- Drink the juice of 4 more lemons each day with my water
- Drink less coffee
- Drink Smoothies for Breakfast (with Freggies and Kefir or Kombucha Tea Base)
- Eat more Freggies (Fruit and Veggies)
- Eat 5 small meals per day
- Eat Clean vs Junk Food
- Eat Gluten-Free / Sugar-Free/ Grain-Free (adding grain-free)
- Exercise on average 100 minutes per day (walk, swim, water aerobics...)
- Journal my thoughts
- Write my book, "Pieces in the Puzzle."

That will require a lot of discipline, and prayer!

When we look at specific "goals" rather than, eat healthy, and lose weight, we are more apt to accomplish our goals.
