I don't think there are too many people here who don't know about reversals. I know I have had them many times.
I heard a preacher preach once about Paul running the race. He used Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
He made many good points but the one that struck a cord with me was this. In the hurdles if an athlete hits the top of the hurdle and falls over with it, he does not get up and go back to the beginning. He gets back on his feet and keeps on going from the point where he fell.
Just because we fell and did some damage to ourselves we do not have to go to the beginning. All we have done in the past is still valid in teaching us how to get back on our feet and keep pushing for the prize.
Once I heard that I looked at how many times I would become defeated thinking I have to start over. How dumb for me to go back there. I just need to keep running towards the goal, even if I fall again. The beginning line is history. All we have left is the finish line.
I hope this encourages you as it has encouraged me.
We can do it.
