Over the weekend, I had some questions about the bonus spark points that you find on the left hand side of your Spark start page and wanted to know what benefit they are to our teams that we are on and if our leaders knew when the team received points.

I think I've got it figured out now and will certainly be clicking on them everyday as I got a total of 100 points today after doing bonus points and the other things I normally do. These can add up fast for getting ahead and for giving out Spark goodies.

For those who don't know, this is what Spark Coach Denise had to say about the points.

"Your teams that you are on do get points that you have helped add to the team, but the team bonus points are just that - bonuses. You can earn bonus spins for teams so you can choose which team you want to give bonus points to, which can increase their spot on the leaderboards. Just another fun thing you can do with/for your teams."

So I guess, this helps our team to get ahead on the leaderboards (not sure where to find them yet) and possibly push our team to a higher position in the category they would come under. Our team leaders do not know individually when we click on our teams and our teams do not get "points" to use for goodies or anything extra. It's just a way for us to earn more points and a way to move our team up on the "leader boards". This explanation helped me and I hope it helps you all too.

I also started in 2008 and gained ALL my weight back so I am back at it trying to get my "mo-jo" back to! Thinking, this go around I will need to stay connected to SP even when I start feeling great about myself. I believe that is what happened to me and by the time I "woke up" I was like WTH? and just kept spiraling out of control.

Great job Alecia! Keep it going. Joined spark last November. So far so good. Have finally found the right combo of diet and exercise to loose weight each week. But huge improvement in my blood glucose control. Last A1C was 6.2, lowest ever.

We can do this!

Hello Everyone, Lexington,SC here been hear 15 months now. not thinking to much of this cold weather lol. warm is why i moved here and no snow. started sparks again on jan 2nd weigh in was today week one 9.5 pounds lost. im a happy camper.trying this time to drink all my water every day and gave up my diet soda ( not as bad as i thought).today i had what i call a free day were i try not to over do it but injoy a meal and i had a diet coke...OMG it allmost killed me. i guess all that soda was whats been messing up my gut. so now i wont crave it had it, had heartburn all day.i know from here on out ill lose 1 or 2 pounds a week but i sure loved the all but 10 for the first week. hows everyone week going? emoticon

Good luck with your weight loss journey! We just moved here almost a year ago and there were so many places to try out that we didn't have before, so last year was the same for me. The food around here is soooo good lol.
I'm the same as Deni though, none of the shakes or pills ever worked for me. I had some success with weight watchers a long time ago, but tracking calories & fat, portion control, whole grains, lots of fruit and veg, & lots of working out is the quickest fix for me. In 11 weeks I have lost 43 pounds. I plateaued during Christmas/New Years, but just started losing again the other day. I mostly use my stationary bike, but I also do crunches & free weights.

Hope the SlimFast works for you. Tried it at the first of my weight loss journey, but it did not work for me - left me hungry and unsatisfied. I had better luck with whole grains, fresh fruit and vegetables, and lean meat and carefully watching portion size.

Have you tried the IHOP 'fit' meals? They are pretty good and lower in fat and calories. Plus, if you sign up for their emails, you get a free one on your birthday!

Hello Everyone!!! I am so glad I have found you all. Greetings from beautiful Charleston SC. I do not know how it happen....but I gained 30 lbs last year...could it have been the weekly outings to IHOP or all that peanut butter fudge? lol. I really need to lose weight for my health. So like so many others I started on the 1st. I joined weight watchers, bought some slimfast and diet pills and vowed to walk 1 mile on the treadmill. I think I am looking for a quick fix. I would really appreciate some support.

Hi team,

I trust that each of you will plan ahead for the 4th. Sunscreen, stay hydrated, and don't stay in the sun too much.

Also, it is very important to plan activity into the celebration. Get outdoors and do some fun stuff. Go for a walk with friends, ride a bike, swim, go to a ball park, or play backyard games. Healthy fun activities for your friends who will be coming over.

SCOPE:
This policy will provide guidance to Resident Fire Marshals (RFMs) on regulating sky lanterns, also known as Kongming Lanterns or “wish lanterns.” These devices are also referred to as Chinese lanterns, sky candles or fire balloons.
PURPOSE:
The Office of State Fire Marshal has had numerous requests regarding the applicability of the Fire Code and sky lanterns. Based on the lack of specific clarification currently provided by the Fire Code, the Office of State Fire Marshal’s (OSFM) is rendering their interpretation based on both the 2006 IFC and 2012 IFC.
BACKGROUND:
Sky lanterns are airborne paper lanterns that are a tradition found in some Asian cultures. They are constructed from oiled rice paper on a bamboo frame, and contain a small candle or fuel cell composed of a waxy flammable material. When lit, the flame heats the air inside the lantern, thus lowering its density causing the lantern to rise into the air. They are known to travel significant distance from the point of release.
The increased marketing and use of sky lanterns throughout South Carolina has generated a request for clarification on the legality of these devices.
STATEMENT:
The OSFM has indicated these devices meet the definition of Recreational Fires, as defined in Section 302.1 of the Fire Code. These devices require constant attendance as required in Section 307.5 of the Fire Code which states, “open burning, bonfires, recreational fires and use of portable outdoor fireplaces shall be constantly attended until the fire is extinguished…”
There is a serious fire and safety hazard associated with sky lanterns, which includes the potential to start an unintended fire on or off the property from which they are released. The OSFM official interpretation bans the use of these devices in South Carolina, unless anchored or tethered.

I don't live in the Greenville area, and haven't seen it in person, but have seen videos and I sure do like the looks of it. It kinda reminds me of some parts of Northern VA. Personally I use the tools spark people gives you. I try to always keep everything I eat logged and stay within the limits provided. Working out weather its going to the gym or simply walking around my neighborhood I try to do it at least 4 or 5 days a week. Good luck to you Kbell.

Hello Fellow South Carolina losers! It's been a long minute since I've checked in. I'm super excited and have lost 15 1lbs since beginning the journey. I am truly enjoying learning more and more about nutrition and fitness. While on the journey, I also picked up my personal trainer certification! I've always been interested in and passionate about natural healing and this was a nice addition to help me continue to grow and learn.

I went over on my calories on Easter but not too bad. I am back on track today and getting ready to run to the store to buy puppy supplies. As if my life isn't hectic enough, but who don't love puppies right? LOL
I am feeling motivated and ready to conquer our taxes. (Well, Im really dreading it, but if I pretend to be siked about it...maybe it will go better.) Hope you guys have a great Aprils Fools day. My kids live for this day.

Don't get discouraged,we often fall off the wagon the trick is to get back on and don't look back!!!So you're back on track now and we can all benefit from each others mistakes and accomplishments.I believe we all found Spark for a reason and if we just keep trying we will prevail.Good luck and Happy Easter!!!

My name is Allie,just found Spark this week!! I love this website,it's incredible!!! Love that it shows all the nutritional values that I had no idea I've been not eating enough of or had to many of..The charts are amazing and sooo helpful.I live in Hopkins,just this side of Columbia..Have multiple health issues,57 years old and want to lose 150 lbs.I take at least twelve medications right now and want to get off of all of them,turn my type 2 diabetes around,get healthy and feel better about myself.I have 2 daughters,4 grandkids and just joined a health club with 1 daughter and 1 granddaughter on thursday.Because of health problems can do no impact exercise so will be doing Aquafit in the pool 4-6x's a week!!! Very excited to start this program,wasn't so excited when I took my measurements!!ugh!!! But am sure I will be pleased as they change for the better!!Good luck ladies and have a Happy Easter!!

I live about 60miles from Columbia! Feel free to add me. I am married and have 3 awesome kids. I am trying to lose about 60pounds. I am so frustrate because I was so close to goal before I fell off the wagon. Oh well. Time to start over.

Thanks, Tamm! Yesterday I made it to 8500. I have actually gained some while I was sick, but haven't changed my weight recorded here. So, I have a ways to get to my first goal. But, I press on.

Only walked 6,000 steps yesterday, but I did my grocery shopping, attended a luncheon and went to Bible study at church last night. So, it was a pretty busy day and I started back logging in all my food. I'd gotten lazy about that while I was feeling bad. Today's a new day and I'm planning to have a good one. Hope you all do, also!!
