Finally getting back to what I need to do. I have had a lot going on over the past few months. I have lost two friends, one to cancer and the other they can't find why she died suddenly (it was my sisters sister in law). Also I seem to be the councillor for my friends and two of my family members who are going through stressful situations at the moment. I don't mind as I would rather them talk than keep it bottled up. I just needed to take a break from hear while trying to get my head around things.

I have managed to gain too much weight again so now need to lose it again.

I don't have a specific goal for weight. Right now I'd like to get to a size 14-16 by September (currently an 18-20, but closer to 18). I've found that choosing a number on the scale only makes me frustrated, especially since my body tends to weigh more than one would expect at my size due to muscle mass. My biggest problem is snacking. I tend to eat healthy, but I live with people who love junk food and I have a hard time not diving in.

Haven't posted in a while. Lots of things happening.

2-12-13 - broke my foot, 2-19-13 had surgery to put a pin in the bone, no walking for 12 weeks! Was in a boot and used a knee cart to get around. Because of the knee cart my arthritic knee kicked in full mode pain! I couldn't do much of anything. It hurt so bad all the time and was REALLY bad when I tried to ride my recumb bike. :( Went to see the ortho dr and my knee was at a 20 degree angle - normal is 7.
10-23-13 - had total knee replacement, weighed in at 268 (low was 234). Had problems with my blood pressure being too low so they kept me in the hospital an extra day with an IV. Came home dizzy and not able to keep anything down. Lost 10 pounds in two weeks after the surgery.
1-8-14 - dr put me on HP meds. Been running high since surgery - 142/92 average. I feel bloated most of the time but I have maintained the 10 pound loss.
1-31-14 - started at FitZone with a 6-week gift certificate. Haven't been going consistently but have been walking at work and using recumb bike at home.
2-24-14 - started tracking food intake again on SP, blogging daily on SP page the results of the day....holding myself accountable.

When I went to my bariatric surgeon in 10-18-13 I had gained again. She told me that the Bariatric Association had released that people 3+ years out should reduce their calorie intake to 1000-1200. She wants me to stay more to below 1100. No surprise there! I have to go back April 14 for a 6-month check-up to see how the weight loss is going. They were sympathic with all the issues thru the year last year but she wants to check my progress since having my knee replacement done.

With this weather my season disorder has been in full gear this winter - all I want is to cuddle in deep and not do ANYTHING! Full hibernation mode. Doesn't make it easy to keep yourself motivated when you are so BLUE. When I get cold, I get chilled to the bone and it takes FOREVER to warm back up. This morning it was -9 on the way to work.

I truly want to get back on the band wagon and get the weight loss going again. Everyone says that RNY is the lazy man's way out but it's not. It takes will and determination. It takes a want to. If I am to succeed it is up to me! :)

God bless,
Theresa

It is not really possible to lose that much weight that quickly without doing something drastic or something that isnt healthy. You would have to restrict your calories too muvh. Most women only lose about 1 to 2 pounds per week

Hey Lisa - I was a single parent with all 5 of my children after my divorce and still worked nights - 3 twelve hour shifts one week and 4 the next. I was exhausted all the time. I did still manage to lose and find small amounts of time for exercise, so I know you can do it as well. Welcome back. Hey Boni: I made the long drive home, but got off work late - so I will not have time to grab a nap today. I will simply stay awake and tackle the multitude of chores. DH does a wonderful job of maintaining, but can not do what I do in the deep cleaning department. Since we have such a large family, we also have a large home. It is a lot of work to maintain it. When I have worked extra in the past - not because of financial need, but because of being short nursing staff at the hospital and I am one of the charge nurses, I had someone come in to help clean once per week. It was certainly a huge help and a nice luxury. Well, gotta run to tackle laundry and start cooking. I'm already gearing up for Thanksgiving. I did the grocery shopping Monday before driving down for work and did the menu for all of this week and next week.

Romantilly,
I will not complain as for sure you do have much more on your plate then one could imagine.

I think it is the strength the Lord gives us because in ourselves we can not do this.

My sleep apney doctor told me he had never seen anyone so sleep deprived..Well wait till I tell him and my family dr. about YOU! I know you are much younger then me but there was a day I lived in the city and worked 3 jobs and still struggled. I would not change this life I now have for anything.

My dr appt went as I expected today and my dr just as always tells me I need to this and that, but today he said you know I know there is going to be a special place for you in heaven, and I told him I don't need a special place just any place will do I just want to get there when I go...he laughed...but we did my fasting blood work, he has put me on a new med for the pain and numbness (neuropathy in my hands and feet), he is sending me to a foot doctor also and from there I am not sure. I will not receive my results before next week, but will begin my program Monday after I cook all day Sunday and get the menu prepared.
It is deer hunting season and that being my really good for me meat as well as chicken and fish, tuna and salmon, I am headed to the kitchen with full force.

You stay awake on that long drive and have a blessed weekend.
Boni

Hey MYLIFEINHIM - I work nights also - I am a RN in a busy ICU. I live in Southern Utah, but must drive 2 hours - 130 miles to the south to Las Vegas to work - there are no jobs in the small town I live in. My husband recently lost his job and I am now working extra (4 twelve hour shifts) weekly instead of 3. I have 6 children at home ranging from 9 to 19. I must do my weekly cooking Sundays after church and Mondays - because I leave Tuesday nights and work through. I feel the same as you - it is not an excuse, but finding time and will and strength to exercise when you have been awake 30 hours straight through is nearly impossible. I feel that this is my time to care for my family and I do what I can. I do have the benefit of walking a lot at work. It is not aerobic, but at least it is not a desk job. When I have a day off that I am not running like crazy to take care of errands, DH and I and the kids love to go hike up in the mountains.

ROMANTILLY THAT IS AN AMAZING STORY OF HOW YOU HANDLE YOUR DIET..

I too live on a farm and we have garden and I can fruits and veggies but unlike you I let the stress eating get to me. I am diabetic, and I have to cook for myself, and my husband who battled esophagus cancer which they removed it all, but has to eat certain foods cooked in a way that he can handle with gerd disease..Then we have his 89 year old mother living with us for last 7 years and she has her own special foods that she only wants to eat so I tend to put me last and sometimes just eat what I fix them. You have given me a great idea of just cooking away on Sundays on one of my days off. To add to my stress I also work midnights, and except two days a week when I have help I am up with my mother-in-law every hour of my sleep time till 6 pm then my niece comes and sits with her until I return home in the morning. I have an hour drive to work and am a police dispatcher. I am not making excuses for the weight, but have never before been so sleep deprived, or stressed with daily life. I am 64 and plan to retire next year and I have said from the beginning, "this is just a season the Lord has given me". I look forward to retirement but want to be healthier by the time that I do so that I can enjoy my senior years. Good luck to you it sounds like you truly have it all moving in a way that spells great success for you. Boni

The diet/eating plan was actually very easy to follow. I have a very large family and always do big batch cooking on my days off from the hospital. During the summer I used lots of veggies - especially salad veggies from the garden. During the winter, I don't like to eat salads as much as I tend to be cold all the time because of the hypothyroidism. I cook up a bunch of veggies for me the day before I leave to drive out of town to go to work - broccoli, brussel sprouts, spinach, cauliflower, asparagus, green beans, etc. I don't do the sweet peas because they have a high sugar content. Then I cook up my meat - chicken breasts, lean pork loin, white fish. I put everything into a few Tupperware type containers and take it with me. And because I always keep cooked veggies and meat in the fridge, if I get hungry during the day, I just grab something and throw it in the microwave and heat it up rather than grab something quick like bread. I also can my own meat and soups and so I always have these available to heat up quickly when I need something. It is the only way my body will cooperate with me and allow me to lose. If I consume carbs in the form of bread or anything with gluten, I pay for it in my stomach. My carbs come from fruit and veggies now. I still do potatoes, corn, rice, pasta for my family -- but I don't eat it.

I have hypothyroidism and have great difficulty losing weight. I also have low blood protein and iron, and gluten sensitivity. Because of this and my inability to lose weight, my doctor put me on a very structured diet. It was very simple - no bread, pasta, rice, etc. Not even whole grains for 60 days. 6 to 8 ounces of lean protein twice daily and a small amount at breakfast - such as a protein smoothie with fresh fruit, 2 egg whites with 1 whole egg, etc. 6 to 9 cups of vegetables daily - no sugary vegetables such as peas, no starches. 2 servings of fruit - no high sugar fruits like bananas, but small amounts of melon and grapes were acceptable - apples and oranges were preferred for the fiber. I finally begun losing weight again.

Oh yes, I've felt it and sometimes still do. I have found that the secret for me is to think of it in terms of ADDING rather than SUBTRACTING. I try not to focus on what I shouldn't eat and put my energy into adding more water , more fresh vegetables, more fruits, and more movement to my day.

Ok. I hope it is a right place for me. I let myself go recently and am fighting to regain control. I want to start loosing again. My goal is 20 lbs. really would like to lose at least 8 by dec 11. I have been exercising (other then last week) but need to really focus on eating right. I was wondering if any of u have links to some high protein and easy diet. I think that if i try something more structured it may help me. I am hoping that posting and reading will motivate me further. I am going to do it!!! I know its in my mind i need to stop stress eating and gain controll especially at work and in the evenings. At work when stress comes. And it happens often, i reach for food. I need to have regulatd food. Every 2 to 3 hours and hope it will do the trick

Janet,

You have so many things to be proud of, I'm sorry that you're feeling disappointed in yourself. Think of how far you've come in just 1 year. I'm sure your entire way of life improved in so many ways. I'm sure that those 6 lbs will be gone soon.

I'm just starting my time of getting myself back, and find your story very motivating!
Keep your chin up. emoticon

After several years of rarely using my SparkPeople account I started my current journey on Sept 18 2012 with the goal of losing 110 pounds. I was 310 pounds and being 200 or less seemed like an impossible dream. My end date of October 31, 2013 is fast approaching and I am still 6 pounds shy of that. I have worked hard and come a long long way, but I can't help feeling dissapointed. Everyone tells me I should look at what I HAVE accomplished, and I do. I'm proud, but .... *sigh.... I'm just SO CLOSE....

keep Moving Forward

Lisa, I loved your updated info on getting our heart rates up. I am pretty sure that is the key to my current lack of success. My friend and I, we walk our dogs together, are devising a "new" plan, one that will walk the dogs, then us, really pushing us... That's waht we need :)

Wondering what tomorrows weigh day will bring??????

Y'all have a good night,

A crazy buzy week!!! My kids have started club swim again. So, I have been re-enlisted to chauffer corp. So, I will be rearranging my daily schedule and Nwalking som)while they are in the pool. Will also do my "meal planning" (on paper) (no internet access), grocery lists, & couponing. I guess these might be new considered "new goals". I'm calling them, "back on track-phase

emoticon I had a good day. Not perfect with the food. Went out to lunch with a friend. Had no appetizers and stuck with my meal choice. NO dessert, but did have the big cinnamon bun that comes with the meal. I walked this morning with my dog for 45 mins and did some cleaning and cooking. Has been a good and productive weekend! emoticon
Will do even better with my eating tomorrow.

Hello All,
I know I don't comment often (I'm not even sure if this is the correct place to write this) but I am still here and I've found my break through was switching to only weighing in once a month. 1 bad day can ruin a week but it can't ruin a month so a slip doesn't snowball anymore. Good luck to everyone emoticon

Hey Peggs - you could always have a workout buddy that you report to in another state - for example: I did a 30 minute walk this morning. What did you get in today or is it a day of rest?

Good Morning everyone and hope all is well on this blessed Sunday. I have been bad about staying on track but no more I am back and I need all the encouragement I can get. I wish there was one of you that lived in the Tulsa area so we could work out together. Its always better with a buddy. Help keep me going and I will do the same. May god bless you all.

Hey everyone. I'm on the mend after my accident. :) Random question: Has anyone tried the GOBItes that the they keep advertising on this site? They looked really good and was wondering if anyone had tried them and whether they had a good or bad opinion. See you guys tomorrow! Thank you so much everyone for your support!

Hey Everyone, I'm back. I needed a fresh start and to focus on me awhile. I deleted my old page and started a new one. I was BESTMEICANBE51. I shortened it to just BESTME13. I'm happy to be back and I can't wait to join right in.

I have been doing really badly lately. I need a pick me up. I need motivation. I started a weight loss journal that I will write in every day and I will do my best to complete ALL SP challenges from all my groups as often as I can. My other new personal goal is to earn at least 50 Spark Points a day.

Hello, All! I have been off of SP for several months now and have slipped back into some really bad habits - eating whatever, whenever. I am an emotional eater, and things have been difficult lately, so I have eaten more than normal. Ugh. I haven't checked the scales lately, but when I did, I was 244. Scared that I am 250+ now. Anyway, I am glad to be back and feel better after just a few days of concentrating on what I am eating and trying to get in some exercise. I welcome all the support/help I can get!!!
