You have to understand that most men are not tuned into feelings, but feel they need to problem solve...so he was trying to help by solving your problem...I know it is frustrating, but that is just how they are.

I am having quite a bit of a struggle tonight. I had planned dinner for myself and my husband... to be a bit of a caloric splurge to be honest, but it totally failed. I am stressed and totallly lost it with my husband, slammed the door to my bedroom and began working out in the dark while crying. We have now ordered Pizza Hut, which let's be honest, isnt the best choice. I did order the healthest thing I could find on the menu (chicken pizza, thin crust=190 cals a slice). But, here is the point of all this... my husband totally doesnt get it. He brings home candy bars, chocolates, soda, etc totally clueless to the fact that I am the one who winds up eating it all. I have asked him over and over again to not do it and he keeps doing it. He doesnt see why ordering a pizza is a big deal to me. When I finally calmed down enough to explain it to him, he decided that the answer was to throw all the chocolate and candy in the trash in a huff and say if it is that much of a temptation, just get rid of it. So, all of the chocolate is in the trash, instead of him understanding that I need his support, not him parenting me one minute and sabatoging me the next. How do I get him to understand? Am I totally over reacting? HELP!

I personally think rebounding is pretty fun. I live in a tiny apartment, so finding space was a big issue for me too. I had measured for an exercise bike, a treadmill, and an elliptical machine. No space for any of them or the money to buy one. The rebounder that I found folds in 1/4 and the legs come off for easy storage. I usually just take the legs off and slip it under the sofa, not bothering to fold it up. Then I can just pull it out into the middle of the living room, take 2 minutes to screw on the legs, and go.
I also have done the "in home" walking videos. The segments are usually about 15 minutes in length and can be super challenging. If you can find a video with segments, then it might be easier than trying to find a big block of time to work out in. I know it is easier to find 10-15 minutes free than 30. Plus, I think it can be less stressful. I have a pilates video from "Crunch" and have used that for years. They have a lot of videos and they are called crunch because they are segments for under 10 minutes and so you can get a little bit of exercise in during those few minutes that you can manage to find during the day.
I should say, that I have done a lot of studying in nutrition and exercise... I used to be a phys ed teacher... but... I don't practice what I preach. I feel like such a hypocrite being so overweight but having all the knowledge not to be. I am hoping that SP will help me be less of a hypocrite.
Again, good luck.

Well, I don't get nap times anymore. My daughter is in 4 year old kindergarten, and I work when she's there and then I go to get her. I just came up with an idea, if I can make room for my mom's stationary bike, I might use it at night when my daughter and I are watching tv. I just have to make room for it, or it's not going to work. That's my plan now. I've been wanting to do the rebounder thing, but I don't have alot of room right now. Is it fun to do?

My other idea is to see if I can work a 30 minute walk or video in between getting off of work and picking up my daughter and her friends. I've been working from 6am to 2pm, and I get home about 2:15pm, so if I were to try I would have to start right away, because I have to leave to get the girls at 3pm. Wish me luck in my exercise adventure. I sure hope it works.

Nap time has been the time that I use to exercise. I am so tempted to take a nap too, but it seems to be the only time that my little one doesn't demand my attention. I recently bought an inexpensive rebounder (mini trampoline) and watch cheesy daytime tv and bounce the time away. I get to spend some "me" time, watch something other than the wonder pets and dora, while burning the extra calories. Rebounding, depending on weight, burns about 250 cals every half hour. SP only has trampoline bouncing on their exercise list and is lower cals burnt per half hour, so I just manually enter it in. I hope that this helps. I don't know when or if your little one is napping, but I recently read that about 3 pm is the best time for a cardio work out for fat burning. I don't know if it is true, but since my little one naps at 2:30, I am hopeful that it is true. Good luck to you and hang in there. I appreciate your struggle and wish you the absolute best.

I am totally getting very discouraged about my weight loss lately. For a couple of weeks I've been stuck, and can't seem to get past it. I do know that I need to exercise more. Does anyone have any suggestions for a busy mom with a 4 1/2 year old, and now the weather is getting colder, so the walking to the park is out of the question soon. I'm doing that as much as I can until it gets too cold. But, I'm so busy with watching my daughter and 2 friends, and then the after school activities. I'm just so exhausted that I can't seem to find any time to do my videos in the evening. And the mornings, I get up way too early to go to work, and don't have time. Any ideas on how to get exercise in on a busy schedule?

I know I'm new on here but I just felt led to reply to your post. Please don't get discouraged because no matter what stage your at with a diet eveyone can fall down or off the wagon or whatever the case may be. But the good news is that Each day is a new day and yesterday is gone. Get up wipe yourself off and start over. emoticon You can do it! Don't let this hinder your goal. We are all at risk of the same thing and you will be an encourager to all of us by not giving up.

God Bless, Kim

I feel truly awful about myself today. I over ate by a mile and blamed it on my upcoming period. I doubled my calories, fat, and sodium. I am tempted to cry. I have lost it over these past few weeks. I am supposed to be in phase 2 of this plan, but I have dropped back down to before I even started my goals. I am afraid to weigh myself on Wenesday. It's going to be bad!

Help! Please inspire me.

Mel, dropping 20 pounds since April is wonderful! It's hard when there is so much temptation out there. I know, I struggle with that too. Maybe you could keep your Friday night pizza night and make a deal with yourself to be careful on Saturday and just have a bit of a splurge on Sunday. Monday you will be back on track!

It is not immoral not to finish a meal, but it is of questionable morality to treat yourself like a waste-disposal system.

I have only been on this site for a few days, but am struggling since I have been working on "lifestyle change" since April. I have managed to drop 20 lbs since April, but seem to be stuck at the 215 stage. I woke up this morning and realized that I do major self sabatoge. I am the best dieter/eater/workout person in the world-- Monday thru Friday at 6pm. Then my husband comes home for dinner and we have our "friday night pizza". A tradition I love and am not willing to give up. I usually make our own pizza from Devon Alexander's Fast Food Fix cookbook (it is great and online at Discoverhealth.com). But, not always. And this week I bought a couple of small frozen pizzas and made those instead. After eating, I sat down and calculated how much I had eaten. I ate 1600 cals in one sitting. So I ate chocolate to make me feel better. Then yesterday we went to the Maryland Ren Fest and we took our lunch. But, it was hot and sweaty and got really hungry with temptation all around, I gave in and had fair food. I am not even going to try and figure out what my calorie count for yesterday was. And today, my in-laws will take us out to lunch after church... they always do... and it is so hard for me to make healthy choices when surrounded by so much bad.
This is a pretty typical weekend for us. I work out 45-60 minutes of cardio 5 days a week, lift weights 3-4 days a week, eat and cook healthy all week... just to blow it on the weekend. I don't know what to do. How do I stop myself doing this?

Thanks LGROUT, I really hurt my knee pretty bad, I ended up going to the ER when i reached for an apple on the tree the other day. I had to have an immobilizer on it for a few days, i went without it yestarday and my knee popped and it is back to square one. I can't have a knee replacement till I am 50, Medicare won't cover it. i am 46 right now. I have braces for my legs as i have bowed femurs on both legs, but the one wasn't adjusted properly and my orthosis person isn't going to see me till the 13th, so I have to wait. URGH! I will keep a smile on my face and if not at least i always have a side ways smile on the back side. HA!:)

Hi there peanuts. I hear what you are saying I can hardly find time to post these days either. I am doing about the same as you with keeping track of my food intake. No loss but not gaining either. Hope that your knee feels better soon, that is no fun.

Hey, you all! I am having a hard time just getting a chance to sit down at my co,mputer too. I guess it is the time of the year when everyone is busy. it was nice and cool so i did some canning. i put up some fresh peaches and peach butter today. i have pears coming next week. i am already tired. I look at my computer sometimes when i have a minute and just moan. it hurts my back to sit at it for very long and it takes a while to do everything i need to dop on it. I have ran out of ink and no more moo la to buy it, so i have to wait till i can get it to keep up with my food tracker. I have been out of it for about two weeks, but have been trying to watch my food intake and keep to my stradagies. i am still at the same weight, so i must be doing ok. i haven't lost any more, though and it makes me think i haven't done enough. I did something to my left knee a week ago and it is hard to excersize, but I am doing some things, as long as it doesn't hurt. So, we are all in the same boat, I guess. I sold all my puppes and paid all my bills, no money left, but will be in a lot better shape next month.

Thank you all for the words of understanding and encouragement. Things are about the same, no job. I am looking but nothing coming up, maybe God just wanted me to be at home right now....which I have to say isn't all bad. Only the finances stress me now and my husband has told me not to worry about it, so now he is taking care of all the bill paying. Which for me is not easy, but things are going well. I am having a hard time making myself eat what I should so that is discouraging but I am not eating bad just not enough.

Once again thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. Life goes on and things will all work out I am sure. I hope that all are doing well, Cricket I am sure the rest of your weight will come off once your stress level comes down to a more normal range.

Thanks for the encouragement/advice (and way to go on all your weightloss MMK_LONG!). I guess I really was stressing out because it was the first time in awhile that I had "slipped". Holidays are so hard because I'm not in charge of preparing my own food and tracking it before I eat it like I do at home. So maybe it'll just take more practice for eating at picnics:) Today went better. We ate at Pizza Hut, though :( and went out for icecreme :( But I managed to not do too bad today(1500 cals) and I ate fruit for dinner and drank 8c. of water, so for that I'm really proud. Tomorrow is a new day and I can eat all the healthy leftovers I took from the picnic yesterday!

Emily, don't feel bad, This weekend I haven't even posted my eats!!! I'm not sure I want to know but along with all the food I also did alot of activities that I don't normally do. (football and volleyball) so I'm hoping that things even out. Besides everyone needs a holiday!!! just think if we only ate bad things on holidays we might be less likely to gain weight. my sister who is skinny as a board and never seems to gain weight only eats bad things on holidays. maybe I should follow her lead.
Good Luck, But I hope you enjoy yourself!!!

I know it is harder for a team leader to vent, but I am frustrated already about losing weight. I even dedicated my page to a turtle. In the beginning the weight loss was so fast, I only have a few more pounds AT LEAST to be healthy...8 pounds to be exact. 144-136=8 not bad at all but extremely frustrating. I am sure age has something to do with it. I am turning 43 next month.. emoticon !! I wonder what is going on, I just feel like sleeping the entire long weekend. emoticon

i am a stay at home mom, and my husband owns his own business and works 7 days a week. i learned real fast that stress was one reason i could not drop the pounds. so i found that working on projects, dancing with my kids, and sometimes laying on my pillow and screaming helped me with my stress. having 4 kids with 3 still in diapers can get very stressful. we recently bought our first home and remodeling and redecorating has really helped me. this is funny. there was a cabinet in my kitchen i wanted to remove. i waited and waited for my husband to start doing it until one night i ran into it again in the middle of the night, so i went, got the sledge hammer and just went at it. thank goodness my kids can sleep through anything. my husband works nights and so when he got home in the morning, the cabinet was in pieces all over the dining room floor. he said he was afraid to come up to the bedroom because he thought i was so mad at him that i might do that to him. haha well that was a destresser for me. just beat something up. lol

i have had this happen about 8 months ago, i lost a job that i had for 16 years and I was scared to death about what we would do. I applied for my unemployement and stayed home with my baby for 6 months and then I got another job that pays alot better and has better benifits. So I'm a firm believer that things happen for a reason. I needed to be home with my son for that time( potty training time) and then when the time was right I got the offer for the other job. It wasn't easy, we were use to having money to go out and do things on the weekends and that had to stop while I was out of work and we had to cut back on alot of extras but we made it through. You can to!!! keep your chin up!!

Sorry to hear about the job, Lori. Been there, done that! I know how difficult it can be, but you will get through it and probably be grateful for the change. Just remember we are here. Exercise is a great stress reliever. Take care!

I understand your feeling... About 2 years ago I also lost my job as a controller... It at first was a tough blow after a 20 year successful career.

Today, I work as a consultant and as someone else said, sometimes bad things just turn out to be the best things. My life is so much less stressful, I have more time with my husband and I am happier.... I took somewhat of a paycut, but it is worth it. I know it stings at first but trust me, you will get past this. It is OK for a little bit just to feel bad about it, but then jump right back in.

Why feel reluctant to apply for unemployment? Your employer paid into this fund for this very reason, to help you financially while you get your bearings again. I applied right away... This is your benefit and you have every right to it, and nothing to be ashamed about. I just know things will work out for you.

While as a controller I drank way to much, now I dont.... Good for you for not drinking... Dont let this little set back steal away the good decision you made to stop drinking.....Sending hugs your way
Janet

Where to begin. I need lots of help....I lost my job unexpectedly on 8/17. I haven't been on line since about 8/14 (I think). Although I have been trying to eat right and contine to walk I have started smoking again to help with the stress because I stopped drinking in June. My husband is being very supportive and so is my family, but I am still letting the stress of finances get to me. I have reluctantly filed for unemployment and will also be meeting with Social Security for possible disablity benefits early next week. I still have to go into the bank where I worked to take care of some things and not sure how I will handle that. I have managed to maintain my weight loss but should be dropping and not just maintaining but I know that it is the stress.... emoticon

Thanks for your support! I did workout and tracked my food again. I will overcome this. Just one of those depressed days. I will overcome it with Jesus by my side.

I have those days as well, esp during my menstrual cycle, due to intense pain I do not work out at least 2 days. Then I eat more. So like yesterday was my "HAVE TO WORK OUT AGAIN DAY!!" I had to do it, no choice!! Determination and persistence is the key. It takes 12 weeks for us to develop new healthy habits. While it takes a day to slip out of the good habits. So it is up to us to make the decision. Take care!!

ok so this might be cheating but anytime i do something that isn't listed i list it as either heavy cleaning or callistnics (sp?).
makes me feel a little better though i do shave time off.
example hour of grocery/household shopping with 3 kids is 178 calories. but i don't want to put that much time on my weekly goal so i input 15 min.
laundry (which i do a ton of, most of us do) 120 cals per hour.
got these # off mypyramidtracker.com
plus you can look up calories burned from another place and put it in manually. i do that for my normal cardio. i use a rebounder w/weights so i had to look up how much i was burning cause its not on the list.

I was doing great the first half of the month. This past week I was getting my son ready to go back to college and we ate out alot. I did not make healthy choices. I did exercise. Then over the weekend we moved him back to Georgia and then drove to Birming
ham to visit the oldest boy. I did not eat well or exercise. I came back and I have gained 3.5lbs and I'm having trouble getting back to it. I just feel tired and don't want to do anything. I don't want to undo everything I have accomplished but I just can't seem to get motivated.
I know I just have to do it but I'm so tired and just want to sit and rest.
Any tips would be great.
Thanks

Hello enter it as heavy cleaning. Go to cardio then Browse, (a) house activities then heavy cleaning, (b) Other activities then playing with kids. Let me know if you found it. Take care

Hello Bobbie just each day one day at a time. Try to do something that is fun. Take walks, window shop at the mall, anything that will be considered "physical activity" and still fun. As far as food as concerned, you can still eat anything you wish with moderation. Moderation is always the key to our success. And remember it takes 12 weeks to change our habits, after 12 weeks everything will be second nature. Take care and please do not hesitate to write me either by Spark Mail or comment me on my page. Lost motivation and momentum the last few weeks! I am fighting headaches the last week. I am trying to get back on track but it has been hard. With my husband gone and summer coming to an end, I need a motivational boost. I haven't really gained any back but it has been over a month since I have lost any.
Thanks for letting me vent.

PeanutJoy do you eat 5 times a day? 3 full meals and 2 healthy snacks. For our metabolism to speed up to full blast we have to eat every 3 to 4 hours. The calorie limit we have will be split equally.

I am on another nutrition plan and I eat 5 times a day. Although I have not been successful lately I know it is a plateau, I still have full determination and persistence.

Take care!! Christine

I have been going up and down every day lately, I never know what my weight really is at times, but i know it is fluid, as i know i am not doing anything to cause the weight flux, plus I have been working hard at my excersizes, so i am gaining mucle tone. Don't give up and kick yourself into the restart mode and know that if you can get remotivated, you will feel better about yourself. It is a vicious cycle. You feel bad, you eat, you gain, then you feel bad, so you eat.

How long has it been that you have not seen a loss? I can go 3 weeks without much of a loss because of cycle issues. The first time that happened I thought I had platued but now I know its because I start retaining water 2 weeks before AF is due. Don't give up!

If you're anything like me it's the first day that's hard. Everything else just falls into place. I pick up habits really quickly. It's sometimes hard for me to stick with them, though. When I do fall by the wayside, getting back on track is a HUGE challenge. But if you think of it like you're just doing it for today... and then think that way any time you go a little haywire it'll be easier to get back on track.

I need help. I started SP at the end of May. I was doing great. I even got my husband to start working out and eating better. We already had plans to take the kids to Universal Orlando. I started going back to my old habits before we left. I would eat healthy and exercise for a few days and then I would eat what ever and not exercise for a few days. I kept repeating this pattern for about 3 weeks before we went on vacation. I luckily only gained a couple of pounds.
While in Florida the food avaiable at Amusment parks is less than healthy so needless to say I ate really bad. I did walk alot, 8-12 hours a day of walking and standing. Came back and after the fluid came off I had gained 2 more pounds. As of 8/1 I was at 153.5 lbs.
My problem is I can't get back on track. I keep telling myself today is the day. I know I'm a emotional eater and life has been a little stressful lately. But I just can't seem to find the same fire I had. I realized today that if don't get serious and get back on track I won't meet my goal by 12/31. I need help!!

Hi, Cricket, yes stressi s a big factor. They talk about the Cortisol factor, if we are stressed we cause ourself to retain belly fat easier. I really agree. I have had a lot of stressors in my life with the death of my husband and the bad health my new husband has had, it all factors in.

take a breath and relax

its normal to hit platues. last diet i was on i hit 1 with 5 pounds away from a 1 instead of a 2. then nothing. i got so mad and depressed i gave up and now i'm starting over 25 pound heavier.

the platues (sp?) are to give your body a chance to recover from the weight loss. let skin shrink up and tighten. stuff like that. sometimes changing your diet can help

hope it helps

The heat is on!! The weight is sticking like super glue. Sorry team but I have to vent. I have been a weight loss "runner", the weight was dropping fast during the first 6 weeks. I lost 10 pounds in 27 days. As of now my total weight loss is 17 pounds (5-01-2007 to today). emoticon

But now that I only have 21 pounds to go. The weight loss is dragging. It is sticking like SUPER GLUE..it won't leave me. emoticon emoticon

I am getting so frustrated. My fitness and nutrition goals are all in tact. There is only 3 times since 5/1/2007 that I messed up my diet and not even 100 calories over. I work out before 7 times a week..that is 100% of the time. That is why I will just do it 6 times a week and rest on Sundays.

But I don't know what to do now. I know stress at work is killing me too. Can that be the main reason?? SOS!! HELP ME!!!

Not sure why the cravings of someting you aren't normally hungry for. Maybe because of those darn commercials on tv about Dairy Cream, but you might want to use the low fat frozen yougurt and a banana.Tghe heat right now here in Ohio is extreme. Maybe the heat is getting to you. What is your weather like?

How about a little low fat frozen yogurt or light ice cream and plenty of fruit with it. If you are craving it have it..be accountable for it, do some extra exercise but don't deny yourself. This is a life stlye change not a diet.

Also would some sherbert satisfy your craving?

Hope this helps,
Jayne

What is BMI?

Body Mass Index (BMI) is a number calculated from a person’s weight and height. BMI is a reliable indicator of body fatness for people. BMI does not measure body fat directly, but research has shown that BMI correlates to direct measures of body fat, such as underwater weighing and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA).1, 2 BMI can be considered an alternative for direct measures of body fat. Additionally, BMI is an inexpensive and easy-to-perform method of screening for weight categories that may lead to health problems.

How is BMI used?

BMI is used as a screening tool to identify possible weight problems for adults. However, BMI is not a diagnostic tool. For example, a person may have a high BMI. However, to determine if excess weight is a health risk, a healthcare provider would need to perform further assessments. These assessments might include skinfold thickness measurements, evaluations of diet, physical activity, family history, and other appropriate health screenings.

Why does CDC use BMI to measure overweight and obesity?

Calculating BMI is one of the best methods for population assessment of overweight and obesity. Because calculation requires only height and weight, it is inexpensive and easy to use for clinicians and for the general public. The use of BMI allows people to compare their own weight status to that of the general population.

To see the formula based on either kilograms and meters or pounds and inches, visit How is BMI calculated and interpreted?

What are some of the other ways to measure obesity? Why doesn't CDC use those to determine overweight and obesity among the general public?

Other methods to measure body fatness include skinfold thickness measurements (with calipers), underwater weighing, bioelectrical impedance, dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA), and computerized tomography. However, these methods are not always readily available, and they are either expensive or need highly trained personnel.

How is BMI calculated and interpreted?

Calculation of BMI
BMI is calculated the same way for both adults and children. The calculation is based on the following formulas:
Measurement Units Formula and Calculation
Kilograms and meters (or centimeters) Formula: weight (kg) / [height (m)]2

With the metric system, the formula for BMI is weight in kilograms divided by height in meters squared. Since height is commonly measured in centimeters, divide height in centimeters by 100 to obtain height in meters.

Example: Weight = 68 kg, Height = 165 cm (1.65 m)
Calculation: 68 ÷ (1.65)2 = 24.98
Pounds and inches Formula: weight (lb) / [height (in)]2 x 703

Calculate BMI by dividing weight in pounds (lbs) by height in inches (in) squared and multiplying by a conversion factor of 703.

Example: Weight = 150 lbs, Height = 5’5” (65")
Calculation: [150 ÷ (65)2] x 703 = 24.96

Interpretation of BMI for adults
For adults 20 years old and older, BMI is interpreted using standard weight status categories that are the same for all ages and for both men and women. For children and teens, on the other hand, the interpretation of BMI is both age- and sex-specific. For more information about interpretation for children and teens, visit Child and Teen BMI Calculator.

The standard weight status categories associated with BMI ranges for adults are shown in the following table.
BMI Weight Status
Below 18.5 Underweight
18.5 – 24.9 Normal
25.0 – 29.9 Overweight
30.0 and Above Obese

For example, here are the weight ranges, the corresponding BMI ranges, and the weight status categories for a sample height.
Height Weight Range BMI Weight Status
5’ 9” 124 lbs or less Below 18.5 Underweight
125 lbs to 168 lbs 18.5 to 24.9 Normal
169 lbs to 202 lbs 25.0 to 29.9 Overweight
203 lbs or more 30 or higher Obese

How reliable is BMI as an indicator of body fatness?

The correlation between the BMI number and body fatness is fairly strong; however the correlation varies by sex, race, and age. These variations include the following examples: 3, 4

* At the same BMI, women tend to have more body fat than men.
* At the same BMI, older people, on average, tend to have more body fat than younger adults.
* Highly trained athletes may have a high BMI because of increased muscularity rather than increased body fatness.

It is also important to remember that BMI is only one factor related to risk for disease. For assessing someone’s likelihood of developing overweight- or obesity-related diseases, the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute guidelines recommend looking at two other predictors:

* The individual’s waist circumference (because abdominal fat is a predictor of risk for obesity-related diseases).
* Other risk factors the individual has for diseases and conditions associated with obesity (for example, high blood pressure or physical inactivity).

For more information about the assessment of health risk for developing overweight- and obesity-related diseases, visit the following Web pages from the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute:

* Assessing Your Risk
* Body Mass Index Table
* Clinical Guidelines on the Identification, Evaluation, and Treatment of Overweight and Obesity in Adults

If an athlete or other person with a lot of muscle has a BMI over 25, is that person still considered to be overweight?

According to the BMI weight status categories, anyone with a BMI over 25 would be classified as overweight and anyone with a BMI over 30 would be classified as obese.

It is important to remember, however, that BMI is not a direct measure of body fatness and that BMI is calculated from an individual’s weight which includes both muscle and fat. As a result, some individuals may have a high BMI but not have a high percentage of body fat. For example, highly trained athletes may have a high BMI because of increased muscularity rather than increased body fatness. Although some people with a BMI in the overweight range (from 25.0 to 29.9) may not have excess body fatness, most people with a BMI in the obese range (equal to or greater than 30) will have increased levels of body fatness.

It is also important to remember that weight is only one factor related to risk for disease. If you have questions or concerns about the appropriateness of your weight, you should discuss them with your healthcare provider.

What are the health consequences of overweight and obesity for adults?

The BMI ranges are based on the relationship between body weight and disease and death.5 Overweight and obese individuals are at increased risk for many diseases and health conditions, including the following: 6

* Hypertension
* Dyslipidemia (for example, high LDL cholesterol, low HDL cholesterol, or high levels of triglycerides)
* Type 2 diabetes
* Coronary heart disease
* Stroke
* Gallbladder disease
* Osteoarthritis
* Sleep apnea and respiratory problems
* Some cancers (endometrial, breast, and colon)

My motivation is my husband's joy of seeing me feeling better. I also remember all the lousy comments of people who, by lack of a better word are inconciderate, but honest. Friends would always say I looked fine, but lied. I had one friend who was honest and told me I looked like a pig and that I needed to start taking care of myself. He said he don't believe in telling people what they want to hear, cause they don't help you feel better about yourself, it makes you in a denial status, then. I am feeling better about the weight, but also make sure you are bulking up your veggies, that will fill you up. Make sure you don't put too much salt and butter. I use Parkey spray, no fat, no cholestrol. It is really tasty and it sprays over all your veggies, not just part of it. Add pepper to make it taste good, or Mrs. Dash. I steam my veggies, potatoes and meat in the same steamer at the same time. I place the veggies on bottom, pepper them good then add the meat, pepper it and add onions. When it is done it will taste like it is buttered.

Once you start actually losing a few pounds, I find that I am feeling better every day. For me it's not about how I look, but how I feel. I try to find something to distract me from thinking about food. I eat when watching TV, so now, I find other things to do. I rarely watch TV anymore. When you just can't resist the urge, eat something healthy. Like a piece of fruit or some raw veggies. I've found sometimes just changing WHAT I'm eating helps. It's never easy, but it's always worth it. I've also found that it helps to have someone local to you that you can call on. It's really a lifestyle change more than a diet for me. Hang in there!!! It really does get easier as you learn how to make those changes!

emoticon JLDANG, just had to tell you that. I am brand new to this team... this is my very first day in fact. I've not had a chance to do much of anything. Just surfing the web and came across SP... and voila! I'm here! I want to encourage you, JLDANG, since you have returned. GOOD FOR YOU! I doubt there's a single one of us who has not fallen. But what you have to remember is that you don't really FAIL until you GIVE UP! And, you girl, did NOT give up!!! Good for you! Losing weight is one of the toughest battles in life. So don't be so hard on yourself. You got "lost" for a while. Now you're back. BTW, LOVE the Scripture verses at the end of your messages! emoticon

I looked at it several times. I saw a web site that said eggs are very low in sodium. Funny how people's opinion is so different. I try to have eggs once at least a week, but I do use egg scramblers.Usually "Better Than Eggs" egg substitute

Hello PEANUTSJOY, my cholesterol and sodium are also a bit high. My doctor advised me to limit the eggs to maximum 2 medium eggs per week and I can't eat the white, just the yolk.

Help. I finished my nutrition tracker and fell off my chair. I put on my breakfast, 2 large eggs, scrambled. it stated that the sodium count was 342mg
of sodium. i thought eggs were very low in sodium. I have noticed a couple other things that are on the tracker that doesn't seem at all right. Is this a flub up? I have to keep my sodium low.

You go girl. You are doing great. I know that I wasn't going to walk because of the rain that we were having. But with the lightening and everything all of the youth sports around were even cancelled. Then the rain and wind stopped and I did get my walk in.

So the answer to your earlier question is....yes you really do want/need to be slim. But it isn't just slim it is healthy. I have found that making myself realize that I am doing it for me and not everyone else made a big difference. I can see how with the more I do the better I feel, the more I slim down and eat the right foods the more energy I have. So have you went for your walk today?????

Okay, so tell me...what is your main reason for wanting/needing to lose weight? Is it because you are just caught up in the view that the media is pushing on us that slim is the only way to be, or is it a health reason?

Please motivate me, I really need your BIG support now. I seem to be lazy today. Not wanting to move and anything. It has been my everyday routine to jog/walk early morning since 22nd June. Guess what? I was not able to do that. Because of that laziness, I was not even able to attend the daily mass which has also been my routine the same day mentioned. What's happening to me? My conscience is even attacking me. As if, not wanting to move. Slept again after waking up at 05:30 and took an hour nap in the afternoon.

Fine. I was able to kick my butt after my PM one hour nap. I did aerobics exercise and dancing (fast and disco) then took a shower. But, why do I feel like this? Like, am even asking myself, "Do I really have to be slim and healthy?" Please help me motivate myself again. Am I lost? This isn't good and have been trying to read all the mails and posts here to re-motivate myself. Although, it seems to be working but I don't want to slip forever....

Thank you so much....

Always here (hope so),
Jocelyn

Well Welcome Back - I know there are times we all have lost ourselves and it's hard to admit we've fallen but we are here for you.

You hang in there - you will be just fine and those 3 pounds will fall right off before you know it.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. - Jeremiah 19:11

Here I am, been lost for almost a week. I would say, inactive for almost 2 weeks now. And, I would like to extend my apologies to all members. I've been busy soul-searching and would rather not want to disturb myself and trying to figure out what have done wrong in my past.

I would like to stand up again, especially for having gained back the 3 lbs. I lost in my first 3 weeks here in SP. It was my fault, not anybody else's. But, I will need your HELP! Your big help and all out support. It's been a while since I was alive, motivated. My lifestyle has changed when I joined SP. But, I seem to get lost again with so many bumps in life.... Sigh...

And, I'm back with CRICKETDC always being here for support and I know that you're also with me for that same support. I'm back because WE CAN ALL MAKE IT!!!

Miss yah all....
