Pokermama - that's right. A healthy weight loss takes time. Be gentle with yourself. As you say, it took time to gain it, you have to give yourself as much time or more to lose it again as you learn new, healthy habits and your body adjusts.
Bridget - sorry to hear your kidneys are acting up. I hope you can get help with that!
Good luck to all of us as we make lifestyle changes that involve (or don't involve sometimes if it's our choice) our family members. We can do this!

My husband and I don't always work out together but I enjoy when we go for walks or bike rides. With both of our schedules we tend to do things together on the weekends.

CJ, Yeah my dh thinks I have lost too much. I don't though and would love to lose some more. However, right now my kidneys have been actig up really bad and I am swollen to the hilt from fluid retention which even with increases in meds I can't get rid of. Right now, it's a choice that I go on dialysis or not but next month it may no longer be a choice. Having one heck of a time losing even one pound.

DH & I just bought a treadmill, which will mostly be for him because I do my Wii Fit workouts. It doesn't bother me to work out in front of him, sometimes he'll laugh a little or smile, but most of the time, he ignores me. He likes to do most of his working out alone, but he doesn't mind my company as long as I don't stare at him. It'd be nice if we could work out together, but I don't really see how that could ever be possible.

CJ-- I have been trying to get to bed earlier so I can wake up at the break of dawn to exercise, with no hubby or kids. I weigh more than him and I am so embarrassed. He says he is proud of me though and he has no clue how much I weigh. I keep telling myself, it took over a year to gain the weight and it will take time to lose it as I change my unhealthy habits.

I prefer to workout by myself and usually I do it after my DD is off to school and hubby is off to work. But even if they happen to be home, like a weekend, I'll do it.

Part of working out is dance classes, so the answer is yes. After over 30 years - I am very comfortable around my husband. Now my son is another matter all together. So I can understand why people are uncomfortable about working out around family. Sam

I don't like working out in front of my husband as well... He tends to go outside in his garage when I want to take over the TV for a half an hour... I tend to fall down a lot when there is someone behind me, it makes me nervous! : )

POKERMAMA - that's a shame. Perhaps you'll lose the self-conscious feeling as you get used to working out in front of him?
Bridget - do you feel you've lost too much? That's what counts. But it must be nice to know your dh doesn't think you need to lose anymore. That's a compliment!

Today, I was doing my strength training and without a word, dh started to do some lying abduction and lying adduction with me on the carpet. He said after a third of the reps I do, "How many of these do you DO?" That made me feel good, that I am strong now.

My husband will not workout with me because he is better with working out by himself.

I don't hide from him when working out. Lately I have been trying to encourage him to do a workout with me, such as WATP. He has finally set a profile up on Wii Fit and uses it now and then. He has yet to try Wii Fitness Coach. When I am using Wii Fit or Fitness Coach he will sometimes get on the recumbent bike which gives him a perfect view for watching me. The first time he tried Wii Fit, he commented it looked easier then it is. Meaning all that time when watching me he was thinking I can do that. It took trying it out for him to realize it wasn't that easy. I don't mind him watching me because he is always commenting on how far I have come and being amazed at things I am doing.

I just got the Wii and WiiFit so that's my idea of working out. I do this in the family room and my DH loses weight from laughing as he watches me. I don't care because it's fun and I feel good after.
It is not immoral not to finish a meal, but it is of questionable morality to treat yourself like a waste-disposal system.

Not all the time because he gets mad at me. Thinks I am losing too much weight.

Do you work out in front of your significant other? It makes me very self conscience.
