Moonchaser those were very interesting statistics you posted.
I think you are right about having interests in common. The team that posts everyday does have a lot in common.

In reference to CTOMEK1-123's comment from yesterday --

You got me curious, so I did a bit of research -- I went to the Team Members list showing all members sorted by newest member to longest member and this is what I found.

I looked at 40 pages which got me back about six months. On page 36, I finally got to a page that showed more than three member profiles that weren't off-line. Of the four on that page, three pages were open to viewing, the other one was only open to "friends". There are 24 members shown on each page, so that makes one in eight that actually welcome interaction. Given our team membership of a bit less than 24,000, that means that there are about 3000 who we are actually able to interact with. There is probably less than 10% who join and set up pages who are really interactive at any one time, which brings us to about 300 people who participate at any given time.

I just checked the team statistics for June and there were 306 Spark Montana members who earned Spark Points for the month. 189 members posted some exercise minutes for June.

Given that this team has a geographical area focus, not an interest group focus, I think that we will never really be one of the more active teams. Other than love for the Big Sky country and our eating challenges, we probably don't have all that much in common.

Just thought I'd put in my 2 cent's worth for food for thought.

I do have a theory of why there are so many off-line pages these days and it has to do with Spark's privacy changes, but that is another whole comment (or blog).

This team kinda waxes and wanes.

Hope everyone had a good 4th! We had natures fireworks as a nasty little thunderstorm came through around 6:30 yesterday evening, but clear up in time for every to get out and shoot them off. (I have a dog scared to death of thunderstorms and fireworks, he was completely exhausted last night!)

Hello everyone! I know i should check in here more often. The montana team just doesn't seem to be very active. I have a team that we have chatted almost daily for about 6 years now. They seem like they are truly my friends. I often wonder though how much you really can be over the internet. Especially after watching that Catfish show on MTV! lol

Oh huh I never noticed that haha, yea its a little windy but its hot, and my plants love it! Im so excited Im about to start getting zucchini and acorn squash!! I love my garden and it fits right in with healthy clean eating, and most of it Ive grown from seed! My first garden and Its a huge success... Just need to exercise more lol instead of sitting in my garden and relaxing.

Oh I volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and I get to use the left over scraps that just go in the dumpster to build garden containers!

BTW, I was just down in Missoula this weekend. Took DD#3 to her dorm, she's taking some classes this summer. It was really cool down there and a bit windy! Brrr, I was hoping for some sunshine a nice day to walk around downtown!

Actually A_Game, you can build your own workout! At least I do, I put my exercises in the the "grouplings" section, I have several circuits I do and just put them in their. Makes its easy to track!

Im great thankyou how are you? Im still in Missoula, very busy gardening on my patio haha! I love it!

You know what feature the "Track your fitness" section should have? It should have a "build your workout" feature, just sayin, but i think it would be handy for like circuit training

Right in the middle of yard work, with no warning whatsoever, it started pouring! Mad dash to put things away and close up. By the time we got to the house, DH and I were soaked. The sun will probably break through in 5 min.!

LOL melting in the rain! When we first moved here we had to pick up some stuff at the grocery store (including a broom). We had two carts and my DH said he would push the one with the broom because he didn't want me riding the broom around the store! (so I don't out running in the rain either!)

Decided today and yesterday I wasn't going to melt if I walked in the rain (yeah, like that is about to happen), so went ahead and got only slightly wet. I would appreciate some slightly better weather so I can do some outside painting and transplant my plant sale finds.

What do you guys think about the new team page format? I am totally bummed!! If I wanted to post things on "walls" I would do it on Facebook. I really don't think that Spark should be a Facebook wannabe. And I really miss having a link to blogs by team members. All in all I don't think that this is an improvement.

Yesterday on my way to work I saw several really fluffy robins. Then when I got out of the car, I was serenaded by a meadowlark. Spring MUST be here, the birds think so...

And Friday night when I left work, I saw lightning!

Montanafocus, that is really cool! I never thought of a baby monitor to hear the birds!
We have a woodpecker that pecks on the metal vent that comes out of the fireplace. At first I didn't know what that awful noise was, but now that I know it's not too bad! Silly birds! LOVE them!

I set up the coffee maker the night before. All my brain has to do in the morning is plug it in, and I can usually manage that.

This year, a male meadowlark has taken to singing from s spot on our roof and the song comes right down the stove vent! Love it. Talk about loud.

Some years, I set up a baby monitor so we can hear the birds sing without opening the door if it is really cold.

We finally have a coffeemaker that is simple enough to use I can do make coffee half asleep - which is my usual state when making coffee. Provided I empty the carafe before starting a new batch, it doesn't even overflow!

Lehia - love the jokes. They've made my day! emoticon

Some of the coffee makers today take either a professional IT person or an 8 yr old to get the programming done...

What ever happened to using and on/off switch or just plugging/unplugging the darned thing?

Or easier yet, the enamel pot on the back of the wood cookstove...

Sometimes the good old days don't look quite as good!! (But at least the wood chopping was good cardio!)

A little boy opened the big family bible. He was fascinated as he fingered through the old pages. Suddenly, something fell out of the Bible. He picked up the object and looked at it. What he saw was an old leaf that had been pressed in between the pages. "Mama, look what I found", the boy called out. "What have you got there, dear?" With astonishment in the young boy's voice, he answered, "I think it's Adam's underwear!"

Thank God the snow didn't stick. I've been a little m.I.a. but no worries still tracking and noticing a trend on my end. I will correct this problem and be a happy little clam.

One day while at her job as a bank loan officer, Patty emoticon Black, had a frog emoticon hop onto her desk and say, "I would like to apply for a lily-pad improvement loan emoticon ." Patty looked incredulously at the frog and said, "I'm sorry, we don't loan money to frogs." To which the frog replied, "I have collateral," as he handed her a small ceramic trinket emoticon . Not wanting to be impolite, Patty said, "I don't know. I'll have to talk to the bank manager."

She walked back to the manager's emoticon office and said, "There is a frog out here, asking for a lily-pad improvement loan, and this trinket is all he has for collateral." The bank manager picked up the trinket and looked at it carefully. Then smiling he turned to Patty and said, "Why it's a knick-knack, Patty Black. Give the frog a loan." emoticon

The nice part about these spring snowstorms is you know it won't be here tomorrow, so enjoy the beauty of it today and wish it farewell.

Just spent the better part of the last half hour changing passwords for banks, credit card and e-mails. What a hassle! However, I do feel somewhat safer now. One had not been changed in 9.5 years!!

We got into mid-70s yesterday, warm enough to almost ignore the wind.

I will stick to my Zone schedule for 100 days

Happy Thursday. Today was HIIT day and my abs hurt. It's late now, but I'm still feeling energized like the start trek enterprise. Lol. Actually really stuffed. Friends came over for dinner and we had a good time.

MF- did you get your pop counter to work?

Debb- it's okay. It was a great day! I went shopping and bought some smaller clothes. :) now as far as THDOS... I HATE IT WHEN THEY LEAVE YOU HANGING!!! However I want more so I will take it!

What did everyone for workouts this week?

I agree with Debby on Homestake Pass. Didn't go after all. I would rather drive 50 miles to Dillon than 30 to Butte. In fact, both trips use the same amount of gas. I will go west over I-90, but almost always come home Pipestone Pass. Nothing can ruin a day like trying to pass a 25 mph truck in an icy lane, or coming around a corner to find one lumbering in front of me.

Today, it's off the Dillon to get pick up new glasses and run some other errands. Snow a possibillity.

Drive over Norris Hill was ...charming. Drive back - clear and dry.
I agree with you about Homestake - I prefer driving the Pipestone route just to avoid all the trucks.

Dark, overcast, rainy...just yucky.
Then I took the dogs for a walk.
We made it 3/4 of the way, then got rain and graupel and dashed for the house.
Yeah, this is Spring all right, Spring in Montana.

Got home from town this p.m., hadn't worn a jacket, even.

No more than had my coat off, when the sleet and snow started up.

The hardest part of spring is figuring out the wardrobe. Get all bundled up for the trek to work, then feel a little foolish when I do the same at noon - and just about die of heat stroke! After all, there's still snow on the ground.

Its 50 degrees, but its kind of cloudy however i have accomplished a lot in just the few short hours of me being awake.

Deb- yeah graupel... I never knew that word until you said something. Tiny sized balls of snow that were in the process of turning into hail, but because of temperature changes in the atmosphere it never got to finish its process.

MF- I was thinking about ordering one for my birthday as a gift to myself. I just wonder if its a good investment or not. I think it would make my tracking program easier on me.

We had a snow ball storm, but as soon as they hit the ground they melted. It was odd, but pretty. Partially snowballs and sunshine at the same time. Thats something i never see to often in my neck of the woods.

Do any of you guys have the spark tracker?

It's just after midnight and we're having that very fine powdered sugar kind of snow...since about 10:30. It was sunny but not warm here today too! My back porch roof is leaking. I'm so ready to tear it off and build a bigger room with different access so this is "the last straw" and will get it done when the weather really does figure out what it's supposed to be doing!

Have to drive to Helena again on Thursday so hope there isn't much more snow.

How can it be sunny and this cold? No danger of frostbite, just chilling to the bone.
