Wow, this is an old thread! I found where I had posted to it back in 2010 when I joined the site briefly. Hopefully, I will be able to be more consistent this time.

I still work primarily with Hecate and have since I was very young. I suppose she will be with me for the rest of my life as well. I am a witch and she called me. I have for a while felt the need to connect with god energy as well but none have come forth yet. I am interested in Cernunos and Thor to a point, but nothing really resonates. I suppose they will make themselves known when the time is right.

Have loved reading about peoples patrons- everyone i know is so private about this. My patron Lady is Freya. Her energy resonates closely with mine. She once let me know it was beautiful to be Freya-ish at a time i was frustrated with myself. Id like to work with Athena because Her energy does not come as easily to me but i admire Her greatly.

My Patron God is Set.

When I was Kemetic Orthodox I was divined as a son of Set and Wepwawet, beloved of Sekhmet, Horus, and Isis. I'm still relatively close to all of those.

I also feel close to Odin, Freya, Mars, and Cupid and I have a Holly King/Oak King thing going on.

My patron goddess is Brigid or Brighid. She found me when I needed to protect my daughter and I have been by her side since.

I feel close to Thor as well as Odin.

Of course this time of year the Oak King!

I don't be to be a forum necromancer, but just couldn't help popping into this thread. I'm glad it's not just me with the long list of patron deities. I am an eclectic hedge witch. And here goes my list.

Patron Goddesses: The Morrigan, Sulis, Epona, Danu, Hecate, Arianhod
Patron Gods: Lugh, Cernnunos/Herne, Taliesin, Math/Mathonwy

I am aware that traditionally Taliesin is not a god, but a mythological figure. But he called me none the less.

Hello all, I am a beginner on this path--though I have been drawn to it since I was a child... Most recently, I have been called by Cerridwen--perhaps because I am in the Crone years and undergoing a transformation... emoticon

I am also drawn to Bast due to her love of cats and her compassion. emoticon

It is a journey! Blessed Be, Pam

My patrons are the Morrigan and Freyja. My heritage is Celtic/Germanic and they seem to call to me most. Sometimes I wonder if they are the same goddess.

The Morrigan can have three aspects, and there is some evidence that Freyja (along with Frigga and Idunn) are another manifestation of the maiden, mother, crone.

I have a lot more learning to do. Looking forward to some deep work at Samhain this year.

I am not Wiccan, but am an Hellenistic Polytheistic Reconstructionist; that is, I practice a modern version of the ancient Greek rites, also known as Hellenismos. My patrons are Poseidon, Amphitrite, Iris, and Athena. I am part Irish, so I do recognize and honor the Celtic Deities as well, particularly Brighid and Cernunnos, but do not practice any particular brand of Celtic Paganism - it's more like Ancestor Honoring than outright worship.

While I do not worship the Gods, I do honor and work with them, calling upon their assistance according to their particular abilities.

Brigid watches over our home, helping to keep a comfortable, loving atmosphere. Baba Yaga has been watching over me since I was a child teaching me respect. Thor makes his presence known quite often and has also been around most of my life teaching tempered restraint, but explosive volatility at the appropriate moments.

I am of Ukrainian, Norwegian, & Irish descent and find it interesting how the Gods of my ancestors have been the ones who work with me the most.

The Dragons & Fae are also quite active around here as well. They have assisted the most with my rootwork.

Patron: Athena
Pantheon: Greek

I have always been drawn to the Greek pantheon, and especially to Athena. Recently one of my closest girlfriends gave me a locket but she didn't know what was on it. As soon as I saw it I could feel the blood drain from my face and I got chills all over; which then turned into bubbling excitement. On the front is Athena in profile with the helmet she was birthed from Zeus' head wearing; and on the back is her owl.
I knew it was Athena's way of letting me know that she is always there with me, and that my devotion has not been in vain.

Egyptian for me. My patrons are Horus, Ma'at, Bast, and Thoth. I am very much into the arts and Thoth has been a guide even when I wasn't really ready to hear him yet. Bast's call..was rather humorous.

I guess I'd never really thought that much about patrons before. I know I've always been drawn to Artemis. This is an area that I need to meditate and pray about.

It's an odd combination, but the three that are always, and have always, been with me and answer me the most are Manannán mac Lir, Thor, and Loki. (Yes, I'm of Norse and Celtic descent.) They're an especially odd grouping for a mostly peaceful female with strong Hedgewitch tendancies.

I also have a connection with Minerva and Diana. But they don't answer me nearly as often as the other three.

Needless to say, my Heathen friends make me leave Loki at the door any time I come over. emoticon

I'm far more witch than pagan. I work with the deities, as opposed to usually worshipping them.

My children are each following their own paths, too. My 13 year old daughter is mostly alligned with Bast & Sekhmet, but is developing an relationship with Athena and Artemis as wel. My 10 year old daughter is a Fey child. No deities, but she's constantly surrounded by the fey. My youngest (7 year old son) has recently developed quite and interest in Norse gods, especially Thor, however the Horned One has also been watching over him since before birth.

I was called by Hecate many years ago and have worked pretty much exclusively with her. Last Samhain, I was told I now need to work with Brighid and AA Michael to balance the energies of light/dark and male/female. I'm willing but old habits die hard. It's a process I suppose. I am learning to love them though, their brightness and energy is amazing and they are teaching me a lot.
Blessings,

I have an update! I selected/was selected by Bast. I'm now trying to figure out Her worship, because no rituals to her exist from ancient Egypt that I'm aware of.

I'm very eclectic. The deities I work with are constantly changing. I've tried to call out to see if any one or ones in particular would like to be a patron to me, and I haven't received a strong calling from any particular one.

Right now, I'm working with Bast from the Egyptian patheon.

I knew I needed to work with her because I have some cat magick to do. One of my spiritual group advised me to seek Bast's help, because Bast will help Her children, the cats.

You are so right, so many stories and attributes tend to reflect each other, even if the stories are separated by thousands of miles, and centuries...The Sumerian god Enki, is represented by water and some times represented as a fish. A funny little tid bit about the Goddess Ninmah, during the time of the great deluge or flood, they watched over the earth from a craft or ship of some sort, she wore a beautiful crystal like necklace that reflected the colors of the rainbow, she touched that necklace and vowed to never let such catastrophe hurt us again. talk about reflecting stories!
A great book to pick up on the Anunnaki, is Zacharia Sitchin's The Lost Book of Enki, its an amazing read, I read it from cover to cover in one day, I was completely over took by it!
After so many years of researching the different religions and my studies taking me to read about the Mayans, I really started believing in the idea of celestial kin, I mean our sun is just a star, that leaves the door way so open for so much more out there!
Ok I am am rambling, I cant help it when I start thinking about this topic, it take sover lol ;)
Peace!

I like the sound of the Sumerian's, I haven't learned anything about them - only seen references in other writings. I identify with water as an element and earth centered traditions, but have felt most patrons and pantheons I've come across seem to be reflections of one another - like there's a set of archetypes, the story/time varies, but the characters seem the same, so I guess I believe in them all!
I've felt in the presence of ancients at various points. I've wondered if ancients were aliens.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

I believe in the Sumerian 'Anunnaki'- 'Those who from Heaven to Earth came'
In the ancient Sumerian tablets that have been found (with dates- 1750-2000 BC) a story is told, I will sum it up for you here :)
They came to this planet from a planet called Nibiru (some call it Planet X) in a search for gold, which they were using to heal their own atmosphere...Extremely advanced in technology, they genetically created man and woman, three of these beings are responsible for man kind- Enki, his half sister Ninmah and Ningishzidda (also known as Thoth).
There were other Anunnaki who did not like the fact that these gods created man, Enki's brother Enlil for example.
This story of creation is amazingly detailed for being around 4000 years old and since I am a firm believer in life outside of our own planetary existence, it works for me....I would love to go go further into the stories left behind by the Sumerians, anyone who is interested feel free to ask!
I started my spiritual journey when I was 15, I stayed with the Celtic Pantheon for many, many years (Rhiannon and Mare were my Goddesses), I moved on from them when I learned about Lilith and kept her close to my heart up until the last couple of years when my studies took on a more celestial and universal exploration.
I still hold pieces of the Goddesses that I have carried on my journey. I dont know where exactly my explorations will take me, but with an open mind, an open heart and love, I know I will go where I was always meant to.
Peace Always!

Well, good to know Ra has a fan! If it makes you feel better I was taught by an Irish friend to pronounce Brighid as Bride. Guess each of us is different.
I like Ra but I like Lunar dieties a little better than solar. Just my bent. LOL. Blessings

There are about 10 different ways to spell and pronounce Bride. I spell it this way and pronounce it "Breed" because I've read that's how they do it in Scotland. I believe that each region has their own way of doing it.

In the end, it is what your heart says is right. This is our own interpretation, that's what makes us pagan and not christian: the freedom to define our own path.

I'm just getting back to myself in this area, a lot of things were swept into the closet for awhile due to social restraints/pressures in my "family unit",lol.

I remember directing a lot of energy towards Cerridwen, Hecate, and Brighid when I was younger.
I was all about the Triple Goddess aspect.
Aries appeals to me, as a masculine energy.
My real "boy" love is the Greenman though...hehehe.

Here's a quick question: I was taught "Brighid" was pronounced almost like "breeh-d", from my friend from Ireland, who has a fantastic command of Gaelic. Every U.S. pagan I know just says "Bridge-it"...should I just concede and retrain myself on pronunciation?

She is my patron, but I talk to others, including Sekhmet, Bastet, Brighid, Oghma, Thoth, and Anubis. Lately Khepra has taken a keen interest in my 7 month old son, and he in him.

Never regret, regrets mean you never learned the lesson you were supposed to. Instead of getting even, make them miserable by being happy despite their attempts to rain on your parade.

I feel close to Odin and Freya. I've developed a strong relationship to Bride. Recently, I've been drawn to Cerriwden.

I have several that seem to have taken an intrest in me. They are (in no particular order):

Brighid, the Morrígan, Thor (who also watches over my daughter), and Lleu Llaw Gyffes.

If you know me, you'll see the connection between them all.

Cat, have you read The Twelfth Planet by Zach Sitchin? I have a rather new outlook on ancient Sumer now; it certainly challenged my past ideologies.

Well I know I am very attracted to Greek Mythology. I named my dog Artemis who is the Goddess of the Hunt and Childbirth. The name really fit her...she was greeting at hunting down rodents and she was an awsome mother dog. I named my daughter Selena ... Goddess of the Moon. My daughter doesn't know what her name means but she claims that the moon belongs to her. I also often refer to her as my little Goddess.

I didn't know for a long time. I've been interested in Paganism for the past 9 years and have only been serious about it for 3 or 4 years.

About two years ago, Meilikki contacted me when I was journeying (shamanic journeying). But I don't hear from her often.

Siva is a more recent occurrence (and not). I bought a Shiva Lingam this year from a vendor at a Pagan Pride Day. I had been eyeing them for years, but they were always quite expensive for just one stone (I thought). It came with a little piece of paper that told about the rock and then it just came to me. I remembered several occurrences in my life where Siva had come up. I was meditating on a name for my new cat and came up with Siva. I ultimately chose to go with the name I had been calling her. Then I read more about him and it just seemed "right". He is a balance of the two sexes and it seems like I am as well. Well, I can't tell you how I knew about him, I just did. Then less than a week later, I found a small dancing Siva figurine AT THE SYRACUSE MALL! Clearly I am connected with him in some way, but I'm still exploring the possibilities.

I'm still fairly new to everything. Been trying to learn and grow. I would like to ask how do you know which god/goddess you are connected with?

I started out Wiccan and am more eclectic all around. My patron deities are Meilikki (Finnish forest Goddess) and Siva (Indian creator/destroyer God).

My pantheon is ever changing. I've always been drawn to Norse Paganism, but have never been able to really connect with any of the deities. I also practice a bit of Shamanism, so I'm VERY eclectic.

I was originally trained in a Greek Coven but finished my training in a Celtic tradition. I never really connected much to the Greek though. My Patron is Brighid. I am a writer and I feel her call in my life in this area. I am a member of the Daughter’s of the Flame.
I also have studied Hindi spirituality extensively and I consider myself a Shakti Wiccan. Shakti is the feminine power of the Goddess. I am very drawn to Lakshmi and Ganesha and I keep an altar to them in my house. I also keep a permanent altar to Brighid. My ancestry is Irish and I feel at home in the Celtic Tradition. When I teach it is this tradition that I work with. I never imagined myself going down a Hindu road. What started out as a little exploration ended me up with a Guru, several years in Yoga studies and using mantras. I find mantras just as powerful as spells. This practice is under my skin in a way I can’t shake. I don’t approach Hinduism in the typical way. I approach it very much through a witch’s eyes. It is not always easy to blend as there are specific rituals and ways to do things that differ greatly from a traditional Wiccan circle. However, their presence is in my life to stay.

Blessings,
Brighid

I originally had a single God and Goddess as my Patron and Matron from the main Greek Pantheon...and I still consider them my main Patron and Matron (as for how I came about them...they seemed to always be there. I used to study Greek Mythology a lot as a kid and I just always felt a connection to them)...but now I have my own personal pantheon comprised at the moment of four Greek deities and three Norse deities though I feel like there is another Norse deity out there that I'm missing but haven't found yet. I know I'm being very vague but for some reason I've always had trouble actually telling anyone the names of the Gods that I worship as if they should be held in my private confidence (I don't even mention them to my wife)...I don't know what that is about but has anyone else had that issue?

For want of a nail, the shoe was lost. For want of the shoe, the horse was lost. For want of the horse, the rider was lost. For want of the rider, the battle was lost. For want of the battle, the kingdom was lost. And all for the want of a horseshoe nail!

- Old English rhyme

I deal with mostly Celtic and Norse pantheons. Brighid and Thor I consider to be my patrons. They have been with me for more than half of my life. Thor I have known since I was a child, but Brighid came through meditation.

thank you! I hope you have a good one and I hope we can round up some new people. I would love to see this group grown into a small, group that discuss just about anything having to do with magick and worshipping the Ancients.

someday we will have to have the talk about how I figure man got things mixed up and switched around as they are known to do. For instance, on my aunt's bible that sits above the computer, on the spine has a triquetra. a symbol that is known to be Celtic and pagan in nature. I think that many of the deities just got pushed aside in the moral majority's hunt for superiority over anyone and anything. Witch hunts, the Inquisition, etc. stomped out and discouraged large numbers from worshipping anyone but their oppressors god.

Sorry, coming from a fundie, pentacostal family I get a little carried away by the whole religion thing!

Cat

I think that he and you would be the better judge of rather or not he is a god over some over zealous mythologist. To the scientist he is a legend a non-truth created by a society to fulfill some need. To you he is as he is because you see with more than your logical mind. We are blessed by our patrons and I only wish that the people who declared him a non-god, could feel the comfort that he brings to your life.

LOL...Never fear, I didn't think you were a "devil worshiper". I feel I have a strong connection w/Brigid out of the Celtic gods/goddesses. And although Imhotep is not labeled a god...I talk to him quit a bit...I've always felt close to him as well :)

Cool! I have patrons in mostly the Goetic and Celtic traditions and please don't get freaked, I am not a devil-worshipper, I just have always indentified with my patrons. As I said my chief is Lilith, but there is also Brighid, Morrigan, Rhiannon, Cerridwen, Diana, Marchosias, Aguares, Bathin, and a few others. The first time, I spoke with Aguares I was about five or six, I can't remember being without Lilith.

Gosh...I kind of "talk" to all different Gods & Goddess in all differnt Pantheons. As a child I was really drawn to the Egyptians...as I entered school though I was introduced to Greek & Roman which I liked then...I'm studying Celtic now as that is my ancestry...and recently stumbled upon some African I'd like to learn more about :D
