I am a huge fan of the fit bit too. I like to use it to get an accurate reading of my workout and calories burned then I enter that on sparkpeople manually

I am committed to me..really committed to me for the first time, in like EVER!

I've done some research into various fitness gadgets and it's clear that devices can work very differently on different people or in different places. Some, like the Omron, are accurate no matter what but others can easily be thrown off by such simple things as the difference between being in a pocket vs on the waistband vs clipped to a bra - I have been very happy with my Omron but being a 'gadget junkie,' I've been attracted to the FitBit as well - I've tried a number of other devices, though, and always come back to my Omron pedometer and my Heart Rate monitor as the best way to measure things for me.....so far, that is. I'm always open to new ideas!

Never could get accurate step counts when the thing was attached to the bra. I wore the FItBit and my Omron together and tried the bra, a pocket (when I wore pants with a pocket,) and a few other places. The Omron on my waistband has been my "gold standard" and the FitBit was very close (within 100 or so steps on a 20,000 day) on the waistband but was 5000 or more off when worn elsewhere.

It doesn't matter especially where you wear the pedometer, but you do need to be consistent and do the same thing from day to day. Otherwise you will get skewed numbers.

The fitbit has been an INCREDIBLE tool for me. Personally, I find the biggest benefit to be that I can put it on my bra where it isn't going to get banged up, lost, or damaged. It does make hugs a little lumpy, but honestly, I have been through over 5 pedometers in the last two years and when I finally purchased and expensive one--the fitbit--I have had absolutely ZERO problems.

Also, I got my fitbit off of Amazon for something like $13 cheaper. It's not a huge difference, but money is money. Why spend more for something when you don't have to, you know? My fitbit has really helped me keep active and become more active in the time that I've had it along with maintaining a discrete presence. People don't know I'm wearing it. I also have a better idea of how I'm sleeping which is invaluable information for me. I never knew why I was tired and then POOF! I had a revelation all thanks to my fitbit data.

I would say go for it if you're interested. I love my fitbit.

I love my Fitbit and wear it everyday. Its presence on my waist keeps me motivated and accountable. Unfortunately the Fitbit web site is no comparison to Sparkpeople.

I loved my fitbit but it fell off my waistband. I can't keep it in my pocket. There is no leash and it did crack and break. I thought I'd get some reparation from the company, but they have not responded to my complaint.

It did have some great features and the new ones also track your stairs you climb. It also tracks your movement at night so it can tell if you had a restful or restless night. It rates it as the quality of your sleep.

I do wish there was a way to leash it and have decided if I invest in a replacement, I'll use a waist pack for it. It is easy to recharge and it does download the info onto the site when you connect. It also sends a report of your activity each week.

I was lucky I kept my Omron on even though I was using the FitBit so when it died in December (only 5 months after I bought it) so I had my steps and it wasn't a total loss.

Just my thoughts on the FitBit. I learned about it through someone on Spark who owned one and thought about it for a few months. I don't regret it but have been disappointed that it didn't stay on the waistband as well as I had hoped. It is small and easy to wear as well as comfortable.

Just wish they had a leash.

Hello Laskie - hope you like the recipe. I just had a taco for lunch & it only came to 175 calories & 8 grams of fat. Found these great La Tortilla Factory mini wraps (7" not really a mini) - only 50 calories & rather tasty!

It is $99 and I've had mine since August. I love it - mostly for the steps, but it keeps track of my general activity. I have to manually add my runs, circuit training and yoga - but it really tells you that you may or may not be as active as you think! Well worth the investment.

I have told my "working" daughters that I want a Fitbit for Mother's Day!!! Or at least some money towards it... )

It's at the top of my list!!! And I think it's about $100.

Hi Ckaythomas,
Happy belated Birthday emoticon . After reading UR thread about the Fitbit pedometer did you pay $100.00 for it on line? It looks & sounds like a good tool to have as a companion while attemping to get those daily miles. Do you like it....
does it simplify your steps now?

Melissa.....I'm going to make the Taco, Beef & Beans recipe this weekend. Thanks!
