Hi there, week two and I've managed 96.722 steps, giving me a total of 191.191 so far. still thousands to go, not sure when I hope to reach the goal never having set anything like this before. Will try to work something out. Going on holiday next week for two weeks but my trusty pedometer is going with me, of course!!

Hi there, sounds like exciting (or maybe scary) times ahead for you, good luck in your new venture. What is it you are going to be doing? you said the other day it was something with your mum. We have visitors with us at the minute and I've "made" two of the three walk into town with me today, well over an hour with a few hills along the way. Good for us all, or so I told then. Sorry Lynda, I meant to say welcome when I saw you on here the other day. At least we have different spellings, it would have been very confusing if not.
My running total to date this month is -- 96.722 -- hope I'm still on track.
Day on the beach tomorrow so not sure how the steps will go, working on Monday but then hours in the car on Tuesday with at least an hours walking to be added.
Hope the sun keeps shining and the sun protection is used, sure it will be after the other day.
Happy stepping.

Didn't mean to disappear! My apologies. I recently quit my job and went into business for myself and things just got crazy! And I just have to chuckle and point this out: we have a Lynda and a Linda now. emoticon

@Lynda - WELCOME! We're all in this together and at our own paces. I can't wait to see your progress.

@Linda - The sunburn is 100% gone now and we have had continuously perfect weather so the treadmill is currently being put to the wayside. Today I am actually going hiking with my BF, so that will be fun, but I will not be a knucklehead and forget the sunscreen. I need to make up for lost steps and overeating this week so it's "To the trails!" for me.

Hope everyone is doing well. Anyone who wants to join us, please join us on this incredible journey!

(4/4, 4/5, 4/6)
6,109 + 4,701 + 8,543 + 138,269 = 157,622 steps*

So yeah, I'm behind for the week. I try to get in 77,000, but that's okay because things happen. I can make up for it on days like last Monday where I was way over my goal. Keep steppin' everyone! emoticon

I'm joining in on this a little late and when I first read it, I thought 'my feet would never hold up' but then I did some quick calculations and realized I'm probably right on track to get that. The number 1,000,000 just sounds big.

So I'll join you - I need to download my pedometer so will come back to post when I get the data to share.

By the way, another fun way to keep track of your steps is to join the Virtual Walk/Run/Cycle thru US @ exercise.lbl.gov SparkTeam - www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/groups_i
nd
ividual.asp?gid=19805
and track your [virtual] progress across the United States. Either way, I'm looking forward to keeping track of our walking together!

Well done you on your achievement of the day, lovely to spend time with your mum hey and out in the fresh air. Sounds like it was a hot one at your end, how is the sunburn today? better I hope. We had rain last night, quite a good storm which was what we needed but my freesia were so beautiful and they now look battered. Not to worry, worse things happen.
Bet you got no where near the tread mill yesterday after all that natural exercise, much nicer if you can be outside for it I think. No, still don't see myself reading and walking - it would end in too much pain. Have a fun day. emoticon

Today (4/3) was amazing. I've been on Spring Break from school, so my mom and I have been spending quite a bit of time together this week which is nice because we're in the process of starting our own business up right now. Today we went and helped a friend out at her horses (LOTS OF WALKING!) and then went out for a business meeting before we came home for a "wind down walk." I ended up getting almost 13,000 steps in for the day, but man am I sunburned. emoticon I don't know how I forgot my sun screen, but I won't be making that mistake again.

As to how I can walk and read on the treadmill: it took considerable practice. I probably looked intoxicated when I first started doing it, but over time I've gotten better and better. When I was sparking in 2009, I got really good. I'd walk for 60+ minutes a day at 5% incline no problem. A book is a lot like music in that it distracts you from the hard parts of your work out. emoticon

(4/3) 12,857 + 125,412 = 138,269 steps

So how as the day gone then? have you met your goal? hope so. 20,000 now that is pushing!! Question - How do you manage to walk on a tread mill while reading a book and not fall off!!! I know where I would end up, on the floor. Been shopping and walking around town and home today so notched up just over 12.000 steps, got friends arriving tomorrow for a week so hoping to drag them out for loads of walks. If it stops raining that is. Steps so far this month total = 38.130 - will be interesting to see how many steps for the month. Although I've worn a pedimeter for years I've never totted up by the month.

Had a so-so day walking-wise yesterday, but today I plan to kick it up a notch, go for a walk on the treadmill with a great book and try to get to 20,000 today.

Hi there, so come on then - how do I bookmark this? oh dear what have I got in to I hear you say. I know how to bookmark in general - do I do the same thing for this? on the PC or is it something on this site? I have already added you as a spark friend and have looked on my page to see you are there, do you have to accept from your end? not sure how these things work either. I had a lovely 40 minute walk yesterday, the only thing is I've got a cough at the minute so I'm sure I was walking much slower than usual as my breathing was not as it should be. Hope you had a good day and met your daily goal? I managed to. So come on let get emoticon Do you walk similar routes every day? Generally I do, but then we do go off for walks up the mountains at times or stroll along the beach, sure that counts as well.

Hi, thanks for your reply, I had assumed that you were walking tons very day. I have a walk from home to town which takes me around an hour which I do a couple of times a week. Also a walk of about 40 mins to a Pilates class which I also do a couple of times a week. I live in a very hilly area so that adds to my load. All good fun. Just hope I can fine your tread to keep in touch, that is my main concern.
Happy stepping xx

@ Jillian - Thank you for the support!

@ Linda - OF COURSE YOU ARE WELCOME! I'd love to have another (virtual) walking buddy. And just so you know, you are way ahead of me. I usually average somewhere around 10,000 (currently trying to stretch for 11,000 daily.) How do you manage to get 18,000 steps a day? I am very intrigued--and motivated. emoticon

Hi, I would love to join you, if you can cope with an older one on board!! What is your daily average to obtain your goal. I generally do between 10.000 - 18.000 steps daily, not sure that would be enough to keep up with you/ emoticon
