I have an Omron GoSmart. Love it. I put it in my pants pocket once I get dresssed and take it off the minute I get home. I have read the other entries and never thought to keep it on still I went to bed Something to think about. My goal is to reach 12, 000 - 15,000 steps a day. It's a slow process, but I have increased my steps.
you are cruising. Gives me something to shoot for.:-)

I use an I Pod Nano as my pedometer. My wife gave it to me when I retired. I can use it to listen to music or radio talk shows while gathering steps. I love it. :-)

I am also a fitbit user. At the gym during group step, people come up to me after class to see how many steps the class was.
New low reached 149.2 lbs on 5/6/11. Made my weight watcher goal on Tuesday, May 3, 2011. New walk record 9/9/11, 4 miles in 58 minutes.

I was able to get my MIO Stride Right Watch repaired and a new battery put in. Now I am happy again to be stepping. If only my back would get better.

I have a Omron and since I re-joined the team the end of last week and this month is just about gone . I will put mine on and count my step / miles starting July 1st , I can't wait to see how many I can step in a day's time again. So glad to be part of the team again !

I have an Omron that I also wear 24/7., taking it off only to shower or if I swim. I have had so many cheap ones and have been much less than happy with them, but have had my Omron for several years. It even registers pedaling when I am out for a bike ride.......I did a 30 mile trail ride on Wednesday and it gave me over 27,000 steps!

I use the Fitbit. I have for a year now. I wear it 24/7 because it follows sleep as well as daily movement. All of my info is downloaded automatically to the website, which shows me graphs and charts. Simple, clear, easy to understand, and very visual. I can look at a graph of my day and see exactly how I've done. Not just amount of steps, but intensity of steps as well.

I use an OMRON Go Smart. Put it on the minute I get up in the morning and the take if off when I go to bed. It measures steps, aerobic steps, calories, mileage, time of day. It has a clip so that you don't worry about dropping it. I am going to order another one, just in case this one every dies on me.

I've used probably 5 since March when I started reading more about consistent movement being helpful for a person's metabolism & just after that I joined this team. I really liked my previous pedometer but for some reason it would just blank out & reset it self, the ped before that would not read correctly/accurately in my pocket after the clip broke, & the one before that hit the ground & shattered. So I went on line & bought an Omron walking style pedometer. I just wish it had a daily movement time like my previous peds. The best thing about this new Omron is that it keeps track of aerobic time/steps which you have to remain moving for at least 10 minutes & at least 60 steps per minute for it to count aerobic. The clip is great because it may fall off my pocket but it never hits the floor because of the belt clip that has a locking grip. The computer connection has been great for tracking daily information & I am now working harder on the aerobic steps - a new incentive to move more & faster.
If I could really swing it, I would get a Body Bugg type thing but I just can't justify the expense right now. Maybe one day I'll pull it off my wish list & get it!

Right now I am using a cheap pedometer that I got for free. Don't like it cause it only counts steps and miles and nothing else but it will do for now.

When you think you have found the device you want, read reviews online. Amazon has some great ones and other reviews are available. I thought I wanted one of those or an accelerometer watch, but didn't get either after reading the reviews.
I did buy my Omron after reading reviews that raved about the device. Haven't changed my mind since.

I've stuck with the OMRON brand but after I drowned my old OMRON last summer (forgot it was attached to my bathingsuit-oops after walking along the beach then got in the pool-YIKES)
I now currently wear the OMRON Bi Walking Style HJ-720IT, this model keeps track of total steps, aerobic steps with time/duration,kcal, mileage and has it so you can back track in viewing over a 7 day period. BUT that is not all- it is computer interactive and came with its own usb cord and software so that you can upload your data up to 45 days storage to your computer and it creates various graphs for you to track you fitness level over time.
For me this has become very important since I find myself crunched for computer time a lot of the days and it has a handy blinking symbol telling me to upload my data then I just plug it in, upload from the pedometer and presto- I have ready made charts showing me when I am most active with steps,etc.... This part is going to come in handy during the summer break from school so I can really sit down and evaluate my levels to see where my routines could get mixed up to get my metabolism going again.
One thing- you cannot find this version in the stores- my husband ordered my online from WALMART since it had the best price deal.
Mine is no where that fancy. I have a Sportline Fitness Pedometer. It is not connected to a computer but it does tell me the total steps, exercise time, calories burned, time of day, current steps per minute, my walking pace and keeps the total steps in memory for 7 days. I don't even use some of those. It is new (my other one fell on concrete and shattered) and works with what I want to know.
I think the grams are grams of fat burned. Some use this as part of the goal for weight loss. I don't use it, but others do. My treadmill uses the same term. I guess it depends on what you are monitoring. My three children, a SIL and I all use our Omrons religiously. Two other children don't so much. They use them occasionally but don't use their steps to reach their health goals.
The Fitbit sounds fun but it really is just a fancier version of the Omron at about 3 times the price. I look at as a step up from the Omron and a step down from the BodyBugg.

The FitBit sounds pretty cool...I would probably do that if I didn't already have the unit I have -- bought and began using Nov 12th last year and haven't missed a day of 10k steps since then - Woo Hoo! Other than a battery change about a month ago it's been perfect - and I can't blame it for needing a battery.
Anyway, it's an Omron Walking Style HJ-720IT and it does connect to my computer (via provided USB cable) and tracks the data with graphs and provides smiley faces on each day that goal is met - in my case (and I suppose all of ours - 10k steps). It also keeps aerobic steps, kcals, miles, minutes and under kcals grams (of what I'm not sure). It also comes with a holster (which I don't use as I prefer the clip on 'leash' that I clip to my bra).
It is a very small unit and I keep it tucked in my bra so I can wear it at all times...won't be without it!!
Highly recommended! Bought mine on Amazon.

I use a FitBit. It tracks steps, activity time, distance, calories, and activity level. I especially like it because it communicates wirelessly with a monitoring station connected to my home computer and transfers all of this data to a website for further analysis. It is rather pricey (approximately $100) but, I think, well worth the investment.

Here is some information on the Omron: If you have an OMRON pedometer, the company has lots of video tutortials and lots of explanations bout their products. Visit: www.omronhealthcare.com/products/manuals/ . Choose pedometers from product and input your model.
I am using one i got from the dollar tree right now. It only counts steps. It is okay for that. But I am planning one getting a new one that dose cals miles and all. It is a Omron, I heard about it from some of the other walkers. I looked it up and it sounds like something that would work really well for me at work.

There are so many different brands, styles, models and prices of pedometers out there. Which one do you use? Do you like it and why/why not? Any other information about pedometers is welcome here as well!
