I grew up on a large farm in Illinois that had been in our family since 1832, when the Presbyterians came in a wagon train from South Carolina. They built a new church & settled farms around the area, so they were very stable people. In high school I wanted to marry another guy, but my mother was sure he'd never stay there once he finished college, so I married my husband who worked at a local factory. Then HE joined the Navy and we never did live back home again.

We came to Pensacola in 1980 and I stayed because I was sick of moving. He didn't retire until 1993, so he'd come home when he could from New Orleans, Jacksonville, or Orlando. I have lived Pensacola, so it was fine to stay here. Town is not to big like J'ville, etc. but big enough to have everything we want. Love the beach. Do wish we'd have bought a house in G. Breeze when we first came here as that would have been better for the schools.
