I grew up on a large farm in Illinois that had been in our family since 1832, when the Presbyterians came in a wagon train from South Carolina. They built a new church & settled farms around the area, so they were very stable people. In high school I wanted to marry another guy, but my mother was sure he'd never stay there once he finished college, so I married my husband who worked at a local factory. Then HE joined the Navy and we never did live back home again. We came to Pensacola in 1980 and I stayed because I was sick of moving. He didn't retire until 1993, so he'd come home when he could from New Orleans, Jacksonville, or Orlando. I have lived Pensacola, so it was fine to stay here. Town is not to big like J'ville, etc. but big enough to have everything we want. Love the beach. Do wish we'd have bought a house in G. Breeze when we first came here as that would have been better for the schools.
I was born and raised in San Diego, Calif. Met my hubby who was a sailor. We eventually moved to Virginia Beach, VA where he retired. When we drove across country we stopped in Pensacola for a few days since he had been stationed here and liked it. We decided then when he retired to move here. So here we are.
I'm from Delaware orignally. We came to Fort Walton Beach with the Air Force in 1978 and never considered moving away. This is our home! In spite of hurricanes and tropical storms! Love love it here! Carol
