I don't have any evening classes so I don't think I'll be over there in the evening. I live in Milton so it's a lot of gas to head out there twice a day. But I wouldn't mind walking after PT before class if you don't mind going that early. I was thinking walk the campus since it's pretty scenery and there's decent hills throughout. If you want to do gym, I'll have to wait to see what schedule I end up working in the fall and I can try to do between class and work maybe. I'll let you know. Do you have your schedule for fall done yet?

hey!
i'm going to be a freshman at uwf,
walking is usually nice for me in the evening,
and i'm sure you don't want to go to the gym right after you had PT
but in case you do, i'd be glad to go to the gym with you that early.
just a suggestion :)
keep up the good work!

That's awesome. It's kind of what I'm hoping for. I've been back in the states for a while now after returning from Japan. My husband has been gone most of the time we've been back so I've been surrounded by civilians! It's so weird having been around military for the last 7 years! I'm hoping ROTC will be like a new home :)

I didn't even think about AF--I was thinking Army when I mentioned Ranger Challenge--it is only Army. I wouldn't worry about your running--it is something that you will build up over time and you will have plenty of chances with PT 3 days a week. ROTC was good for Marc--he is an Army brat (my hubby retired after 26 years). We were still at the Pentagon when he came down here to start school--ROTC was home for him. He joined the RC team as a freshman and was captain his senior year. It is a combination of events and very rigorous. But it got him involved from the beginning and he never felt homesick. Good luck to you this year!

Thanks Nancy, I'll have to look into it. Do you know what all it entails? I'm a pretty slow runner (like, really slow, "just beginning and have short legs" slow emoticon ) and I'm still working on endurance too, so if they are like a cross-country team, I don't know that it would be a good idea until I step up a few levels.

How did your son like ROTC? Did he do Army or Air Force? I'm going through Air Force, but I know there's Army here too. I'm a military wife, so military life doesn't really scare me, I'm more nervous about the actual PT accountability! But hey, that's a fat kid for ya! emoticon

My son just graduated from UWF in May thru ROTC. He is now a 2LT at BOLC II in Ft Sill, OK. I know that doesn't help you but I just thought I would share. I work on M & W or I would take you up on it.

BTW, my son was on the Ranger Challenge team all 4 years--talk about a great workout. They start training right after classes start in the fall and compete the end of October. You might want to try it.

I'll be in ROTC this fall and they have PT on MWF from 6:30-7:30am but my classes M and W don't start til 10. Anyone interested in meeting for post-PT walks with me around 7:30-7:45? They have a pretty, pedestrian-friendly campus with some nice hills. I'm just trying to think of a good way to spend that extra time in there. I live in Milton so it's just far enough away I don't want to have to commute all the way back just to have to turn around again for class. I'm thinking we could do 1-1.5hour walks so I still have time to shower before class emoticon Fall classes start Aug 24th, but I figure I'll wait at least until the second week to start so we can all get into the groove of classes first. Any takers??
