It's near Perdido...on the west side. It will be a long drive for you and Nancy. Hopefully a walk on the beach would be worth it.

OK...I will send a team email soon. I'm trying to decide if I can make it to the mall to walk this Saturday. I am way behind on stuff at home since I have been at my daughter's house in Crestview all week. I'm going back to work and home tomorrow. Need to do Christmas shopping and decorating.

My daughter will be visiting until the 17th. How about Dec 19 at Johnson beach? I work part time at the McDonalds on Sorrento. We can meet there and get our coffee half price and then go down to the beach in my van. I have a senior citizen pass. It can be our Christmas party.

I live close to Johnson Beach, also. I am thinking of going right now. I went for a little walk with my dog; too bad he can't go to the beach. I just had a turkey sandwich with mustard-yum. Maybe we can get together this month-December.

I am about 15 or 20 minutes from Johnson's Beach, but I like to head east, between Pensacola and Navarre. The water is usually clearer there during the summer months. I also love going out to Fort Pickens, and was thrilled when the road finally opened back up! Now I wonder how long it will be closed again. *growling*

I did make it to the art festival (by myself!) and it was just lovely. Perfect weather, great background music from the stage, view of sailboats out in the bay, and beautiful stuff to drool over!

Lucky you! I like to go there more than Pensacola Beach. I live on the Westside too, but not that close to Johnson's beach. It takes about 20 minutes to get there.

I missed the arts festival this weekend, but I did have a chance to spend some time at the beach. What a beautiful weekend leading up to this storm!

I did get a chance to see the symphony perform on Saturday night. They were wonderful! I highly recommend seeing them if you have a chance.

Have any of you got on Local Harvest and seen all of the local farmers and CSA's around here? I am considering getting a fall subscription to the CSA in Cantonment. Anyone ever tried their produce?

Hey Debbie,

What is going on with the farmer's market downtown? Did you find out anything? I always said that they should do something like that.

Where my son lives in LA, they block off the downtown street every Friday night from 6-9 and have all the fresh fruits and veggies to buy and booths set up with live music and of course all the restaurants are open with outdoor seating. It is really a fun thing to do. Let me know, I would love to go to something like this.

Hugs, Vicki

Cox and Fiesta Children’s Treasure Hunt

Bayview Park is located at N 20th Ave & E Blount St.

The 2009 Cox and Fiesta Children's Treasure Hunt will be Saturday May 16 at 1:30 p.m. This free event will begin promptly at 2 p.m. in Bayview Park. Children 10 and under hunt for toys and treasures. In addition to hunting treasure, children will enjoy face painting, clown art and musical entertainment. Join us for this annual tradition where we celebrate Pensacola’s greatest treasure….our children.

With record attendance last year, more than 1,500 attended the hunt and 620 children, ages 10 and under were registered.

The children were divided into age groups where they followed various clues and searched for valuable “silver coins,” which were traded for toys and treasures. Scores of families spent the afternoon "treasure hunting" while enjoying some of the other fun activities such as face painting, the clowns and plenty of entertainment!

The Cox and Fiesta Children’s Treasure Hunt is a time honored tradition and gives children the opportunity to learn about Pensacola’s rich history.

A bit of explaining here... I've lived here in Pensacola for almost 5 years. (Memorial Day Weekend)

And, it's amazing just how much I've not seen or experienced right here in our beautiful Pensacola area.

So, as part of my new me... I'm wanting to get out a bit more and get to know Pensacola a whole lot better.

And, looking for some fun events for my grandkids to participate in, too. Getting the family involved. Yah!

The 25th Annual Pensacola Crawfish Festival
May 1 - 3, 2009

Friday, May 1: Noon - 11 p.m.

The Pensacola Crawfish Festival celebrates the Cajun influence in our community, and the 2009 event will be held May 1 - 3 on the waterfront in Bartram Park in downtown Pensacola. This event is one of the largest crawfish boils in the state! Start the 60th Fiesta Season Cajun style and bring the whole family. There is something for everyone the entire weekend!

Don’t leave your appetite at home, because the Pensacola Crawfish Festival brings a little of the Louisiana bayou to Pensacola Bay. You'll find a wide range of Cajun fare such as crawfish poboys, crawfish pies, and of course, boiled crawfish, as well as traditional hot dogs, hamburgers, and other local favorites.

Throughout the three-day festival you’ll enjoy some great music straight from the bayous of Louisiana to the Stoli Entertainment Stage. Come enjoy Swamp Pop, Cajun, and Zydeco toe tappin' entertainment plus a little Pensacola flair with some great local bands.

Saturday and Sunday children will find plenty to do in the family area. Saturday our family area is open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Sunday the family area is open from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. Crafts and games are offered, and you won't want to miss the famous "NASCRAW” crawfish races. They're fun for the whole family!
