Happy Friday everyone! This morning I read the following post in one of my other teams and wanted to share it with you all.
Nastia Liukin is the daughter of an Olympic gold medalist (her father won for Russia years ago) in gymnastics. I have watched her and the other wonderful girls on team USA from the beginning.
On one of the first days of competition (if not the first), Nastia took to the uneven bars, and her routine was FLAWLESS! Then she fell off. Her score was not so great, deservedly so. But did she quit? No. She continued with routine after routine, until she ended up with a gold medal.
I learned so much from the incredible young lady. She fell off and got a bad score. She could have said, "Oh FORGET it! I can't do this!" But she didn't. She picked herself up, brushed herself off, and went for the gold!
We can do the same. Let's have that attitude of pressing forward and going for the goal.
Yesterday was payday, a GREAT day, I thought, to clean out my cupboards and fridge and start fresh. I added bottled water to my fridge so that when I want a snack, I grab a water. If I'm bored, or want to plop down in front of the couch, or race out the door to run errands, I grab a water.
You know that Capitol One commercial with the vikings? They are trying to attack people who aren't prepared with the right credit card? But they can't, because the family has Capitol One. Well....what's in YOUR wallet/fridge/car/purse/cupboard? Are you prepared for that hunger attack? I keep crunchy granola bars and nuts in my car. I keep fat free yogurt smoothies and fruit in my fridge. I am always prepared when that viking-sized hunger wants to attack.
So, make this day work for you. Make a plan and then work it! Remember Nastia's perseverance the next time you want to quit. The goal, and the gold, is withing your reach. Go for it!
