You're welcome, Carren! How did the move go? I can't believe it's been two months already. Time is flying. Saturday is my townwide yard sale, so it's my turn to dig through my closets and clean out stuff I no longer need.

Thanks Aquariann! I was pretty productive on Saturday before I went to work - got my closet pretty well cleaned out and took 4 bags of clothes to the local thrift store. Of course, things look really out of control now because I'm at the stage where everything's out but nothing's packed! Oh well - a little bit at a time.
Thanks again for the encouragement everyone!

You will definitely get it all done, Carren, don't worry! Moving takes a lot of work. It'll be worth it to go through all of that stuff, though - I need to do that! Hell, I already have boxes of stuff in the garage marked yard sale ... I just need to sell it or donate it!!

Kennesis,
Thanks for the positive feedback! It's so easy to feel isolated when you're stressed - it's good to be reminded that others go through the same thing. Though I have to admit, when I realized that I do not have an entire day off between now and the day I pick my mom and brother up from the airport three days before the big move, I panicked! Not sure how it will all get done at this point, but I always manage.
Take care - have a good weekend!

Hi Carrenk,
Sounds like you're going through a stressful time. I can't even imagine. I think that you shouldn't be too hard on yourself. It's a times like that that sometimes a good ol' fashion pizza makes a lot of sense. Be kind to yourself and get through this knowing that when all is calm you can refocus. This doesn't mean your quest is collapsing. Your post is really helping me to remember that when I fall off the wagon, which happens to everyone, it's just one more bump in the road closer to success. Success can't be a smooth road or else we'd never learn anything. I think that just by recognizing that this is just a bump and not giving up is a success - way to go! All the best, take a deep breath, don't stress out. Positive vibes coming your way!

Hi everyone! I hope you're all doing well.

I'm having a really tough time with everything right now, it seems. It's very scary to realize I have three weeks to sort through 8 years of accumulated stuff and decide what stays, what goes, what's donated, what I try to sell, etc. So, modifying eating and exercise habits has not been exactly at the top of my agenda. I think that once the move is behind me, I'll be in a much better frame of mind, and really ready to make the positive changes. Until then, I'm just trying to not get too out of control.

Hi Carren! Sorry it took me so long to check and reply to your post. Putting weight back on is the worst!! I have so many cute pants I don't fit into anymore, bleh. Food is a huge obstacle for me. I love dancing so I get plenty of exercise, but I just consume too many calories. I'm trying to cut back, though. We can do it!! :D

Oh my gosh - Carrenk - I actually inspired somebody! That made my day. Unfortunately I haven't inspired my scale. It's going out the window I swear. I havn't been to the gym this week but am doing about 15 mins at home almost every night. I know that's not enough got to keep trying. I'm joining a team this week too that meets a couple of times a week to work out. Egads. I hope they don't take one look at me and say, "nope too fat, she's out." Going to give it my best shot. Good luck to everyone and on the move Carrenk.

Kaminlena, Welcome!

Kennesis, how's it going? Sorry I haven't checked in for a few days - I'm in the process of arranging to move, so I'm a bit distracted.

I went to a meeting yesterday about promoting wellness among the staff at work. Unfortunately, when you work at a small school, there are lots of roadblocks - time, money, etc. I'm hoping we'll get some people together to walk at lunch hours. I need the exercise, and I need to get away from my desk!

Let me know how you all are doing.

Of course it is! Keep up the good work! I have not been as good as you, but you are inspiring me. If the sun actually comes out, I may actually conquer inertia and get out there too!

Checking in after my workout. I did it. This accountability thing really works. I feel great and the best thing is I don't have to workout tonight.

Kennesis,
Welcome! So, how was the gym yesterday? emoticon
My immediate goal is to eat better - I actually cooked a relatively healthy meal last night, and divided it up into 6 portions to grab for lunch or dinner on nights I don't feel like cooking. I need to start a walking program, too, but I can't get myself out of bed in the mornings! emoticon Hopefully that will become easier as the days get longer.
Good luck!

Hi everyone. New to this team. I'm also a graphic designer looking for motivation to lose and get healthy. This is me typing in 'accountability'. I figure if I say here that I'm going to the gym I have to go right? Ask me if I went. Ya'll can beat me up if I didn't go. K, I'm going. Now. Now, here I go. ug.

Kenlinu, Welcome!

Aquariann, I just read your profile - I'm right with you with the frustration of actually losing weight, and then having it creep back on. I lost 30 lbs. two years ago, but I've gained it all back. I really have trouble making the healthy choices become a permanent way of life. That one treat, or one day away from the gym just multiplies! But, I'm determined to get back on track!

Hi all. I've been a member at Spark for a few years now, but 'fell off the wagon'. Trying to get back on.
I work in the administration of a performing arts school. Not exactly an artist myself (I have a degree in music, but I'm not actively performing), but most of my colleagues are, and I help make it possible for musicians to perform.

Hallo! I just joined SP today, through a recommendation from a fellow etsyian. If you haven't visited etsy.com yet, you should - there are lots of very talented crafters and artists that sell their work on there. I'm a fantasy artist that uses ink colored pencil. My weight goal is to lose 15 pounds for the Biggest Loser Etsy Style challenge - it's 10 weeks long, each week offers prizes from etsyians, and the grand prize at the end is almost $250 pooled from the participants. Wish me luck! :D

So exciting to see new faces! I think it's so inspiring to see people actually making the commitment to making a living through performance - I myself was too chicken to give it a shot (though in a job like acting, where "you're too fat" IS actually grounds for not hiring you, I think I made the right decision)

To succeed in the arts takes so much sheer perseverance and dedication - it's only a matter of applying those traits we've already got to our health.

Welcome aboard!

Hi all! I'm another new member to the team, and am excited to see other artists in the same boat! I'm a fledgling opera singer- just finished graduate school, struggling now with the transition into real-life: being brave enough to audition, finding opportunities to sing, and finding ways to get paid. :) So far, I teach voice lessons where I can, and work part-time in the local opera company's box office, sitting on my derrière for most of the day.

I joined SparkPeople several months ago, but never joined a team, and fizzled out pretty quickly. So this time around, I am looking for a small team where I can feel motivated to stay involved. I'm looking forward to joining this one, and to getting to know you all!

Welcome to the team! I've always admired visual artists - I have never had a talent for drawing/painting/etc. I absolutely understand the whole sedentary job problem, too. Most days, I work in an office (or at least from a desk).

I sell my watercolors, oils, pastels on ebay and have started a web presence/page www.e-z-arts.com to direct people to ebay. Painting burns few calories. Paint-outs burn more, so will try to get out more often. It's too easy to sit in the studio and putts. I belong to a couple artist's groups. I'm retired. Getting the leftover Halloween candy out of the house is my priority for today.

It's great that the team is accumulating new members! We're still small, but it's nice to know there are others in the arts who deal with the same issues (Being in theatre, myself, I'm always surrounded by hot actors/actresses, and sometimes forget that I'm not alone).

Since we're so small still, I think it's a great opportunity to get to know one another better. What is everyone's situation? Where are you from, what area of the arts do you work in, what are you passionate about, what do you want everyone to know about you?

Looking forward to getting to know more of you!
