Only when I have to -- I use a Brita filter at home and in the office, but sometimes there's no other choice!

Falon

Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning.

My home tap water is awesome. Soo good! It's the only tap I drink. Luckily at work we have a "hydration station"- chilled, filtered, & hygienic. Makes getting all my water incredibly easy!

Yes, I drink tap water. The only time I buy bottled water is if I forget my water bottle at home, which isn't very often, probably once every 4 months.

Just joined the group. I do drink tap water. Our city gets it from the Edwards Aquifer, an amazing underground limestone structure that collects rainwater and stores it naturally. Unfortunately more and more houses are going up over the recharge zone so that water may soon be ruined. We also use a Berkey water filter to get rid of the chlorine and fluoride.

Yes! I have a filter and thankfully my water supply comes from one of the best sources in The Western North Carolina Watershed. It is piped straight to my house so no fossil fuels are burned transporting bottled water to my home.

Yes, I will drink tap water. The tap water in our area tastes very good and I do check the water associations reports. I have also thought of purchasing a Brita system not sure on that.

I drink tap water, and sometimes bottled water.
I also use a Brita thing, but I do wonder how safe it is, and if the water is really filtered.

I do, but I also drink bottled water. I find that by keeping bottled water in my office I drink more of it and can more easily reach my goal of drinking 8 cups daily. I don't mind drinking tap water as long as it tastes okay. I am thinking about getting one of the water filter systems that comes with reusable bottles so I won't be adding so many plastic 500mL bottles to the recycling burden. Although they are recycled, I realize energy resources are used in the process.

NO!! I have a great stainless steal counter top water filter. Mulit Pure. Have had it for over 20 years, expensive, but the best I have found. Well worth it and its paid for itself at least a few hundred times! Then I find BPA free water bottles and re-use them.

Yes and no. I drink water out of my fridge...which is just filtered tap. And honestly, I probably won't change the filter. I'll just convince myself it's better than "just tap" forever (and it's colder)! :)

I will *not* buy bottled water unless absolutely necessary. And anyone that knows me, knows I carry around at least one, if not two 32 oz bottles with me everyday!

I drink from the tap at home all the time. We live in rural Ohio and have well water. I find it less appealing to drink the water at my daughter's house in the suburbs because it tastes different. I like my water straight from the tap- no ice.

I drank directly from the tap in the Canadian Midwest. It tasted delicious. In LA I find the water tastes a little funky. Here we put our water through a Brita filter. I have a steel water bottle I fill to take with me.

I drink water straight from the tap about 99.9% of the time. I've never had any issues with chlorine taste in the locations I've lived but if I ever do I just fill a glass pitcher with water and set it in the fridge. Given some time the chlorine de-gasses and leaves the water plenty fine tasting to me. Plus I can have nice cold water whenever I want. there are some places where I'm considering drinking filtered tap; like at my mom's since she has well water that is pretty hard and tastes horrible to me.

The only times I'll drink bottled water is if I forget to fill up my water bottle (stainless steel) before a long flight and since I avoid soda and I don't trust the tap water that's used to make the tea/coffee bottled water it is. Also I drink bottled water when I'm overseas; especially in developing countries. I think that's part of the reason I'm so grateful to have such plentiful, cheap access to clean drinking water and will always choose that option.

I use a filter and reusable steel water bottles. I do notice a difference in how my tea tastes if I use the water directly from the tap as opposed to the filtered water in the fridge. I live in a very old neighbourhood and do not entirely trust the water system.

I now prefer the taste of filtered water but don't notice the difference between tap and filtered anywhere else but in my own home.

Yes! I grew up on well water. I'm unsure of any filtering process with it, but everyone always talks about how good our water tastes. I put a filter on my boyfriend's kitchen sink for when I'm there. Also, I always keep a reusable water bottle with me.

FYI, http://www.bobble.com is VERY cool and very reasonably priced!

in a lot of places the water just tastes off to me. like where i am right now i got really nauseous so i drank some of the tap straight and for the next few hours when i burped i could distinctly taste it. it tastes like dirt. so i have to have it at least filtered, and really i prefer it to start out nice. im picky. emoticon

I'm in agreement on the chlorine...something in my area must be off right now because it's smells more heavily chlorinated than usual.

I too use a filter pitcher and reusable water bottles. Even my cats have gotten into the act. If they don't have cold water from the fridge, they won't drink their water anymore so I refill their bowls several times a day. But on the plus side, they aren't drinking out of the toilet anymore which is good since you can smell the chlorine just walking into the bathrooms and sometimes I forget to close the lid.

I used filtered tap water for years. The water in Peoria has a lot of calcium in it, so it needs to be filtered. I'm in the country now, with well water. I drink it most days, but some days it has a muddy sediment in it. We've had a lot of rain this year, which may account for the sediment. So we buy water refills from the grocery store. It is tap, but filtered and nice and clear.

Yes and no... we use tap water but send it flowing through some filters before ever drinking it. Chlorine is used to clean the water by the city here so we have to take that out before drinking it, yuck! Also some other sediments from the dirty city water pipes. (sorry, I grew up with country well water in Michigan which is clean and fresh)

We drink our tap water at home, and generally wherever we travel in industrialized nations (after checking it out first of course). I always wonder if the chemicals in filters, while purifying some of what is in the water, may also end up in my water, and what are the long term effects of that??

I drink tap most of the time from home. However, at work the tap water tastes very different and I do not like it. So I try to fill up my 2 bottles and drink those throughout the day at work so I can avoid the nasty work water :-)

No - because my husband is in favor of steam distilled water. We buy it in reusable 10gallon bottles for our dispenser so no bottling waste.

Yes, because my public water is pretty close to the cleanest in all of the Northeast.

Absolutely. I'm in the S. F. Bay Area. We have a filter in the dispenser in the fridge, but I often drink straight from the tap. I always specify tap water when at a restaurant. If they only have bottled, then I skip it.

I filter my tap water, and use a stainless steel bottle to carry it. According to this person's research:

r-water-pitchers-bpa.html

Brita and Pur filters do not contain BPA.

I drink straight from the tap (no filtering). I always have. I live in Colorado and I think the water here is great! It's even cold right out of the faucet, so I don't need ice. I have been to many places, though, where I've drunk the tap water and it tastes pretty funky, so I guess I'm blessed to have great water at home.

Yes, I do. Where I live (central CT), the MDC (Metropolitan District Company) does a reasonably good job with the water.

I am building a super-green house in CT. When it's done it should be green enough to make the news. I intend on collecting rain water for at least half my water needs. It won't be done for around 10-12 years, though, so don't hold your breath. See my SparkPage for a couple of pictures of the site.

I haven't always, although those few times were visits to friends' houses. At one house I filled a glass with water from the tap and, while doing so, my friend said, "You're not going to drink that, are you?" I turned to them and happened to look at the water; it was grey (ewww!) with sludge on the bottom and an oily sheen on top. I said, "Well, I was..." and dumped it back down the drain.
