I use both plastic and stainless steel water bottles although I want to switch over to all stainless steel. I don't water my plants with the leftover water but I do empty it out in to my dog's water bowl. I've also started paying more attention to items that I buy at the store. I try to buy as many things that are recyclable as possible.

I also buy yogurt on big containers to reduce the waste with all the plastic cups. I pre pack my food at home also. So everything can be re-used. I am starting to replace my plastic bottles for metal ones....

I use a cup of water to brush my teeth instead of letting the water run. I take my own lunch which saves on packaging materials from food when I buy it and I carry a metal water bottle so I don't have to buy bottled water.

It's frustrating to not be able to recycle either container. I love yogurt so I make the sacrifice.

We don't buy pre-cupped fruits and yogurt any longer - we buy the large cans and large tubs of yogurt and make our own in 1/2 cup plastic cups... it makes me feel better, even though I still can't find a place to recycle the #5 yogurt cups...

I've been using vinegar for a hair rinse and hair conditioner for a skin moisturizer in the shower. It keeps my skin from being itchy between showers and saves my moisturizer for when the conditioner is used up. Conditioner makes my head itch.

Turbomel,

this week I also bought those products. I am working on replacing the chemicals I use to clean the house (as soon as they finish) with natural products that clean the same way... It is my little project for my "step by step' program.

I am trying to be more conscience of how I pack my lunches and store foods in the fridge. I'm trying to cut back on the amount of plastic I use. It's tough to break the habit sometimes.

Recently I bought a BIG bottle of vinegar, Borax, & Baking Soda for cleaning. Did you know you can use vinegar in place of fabric softner? It works really well!

I bought my son a book all about Earth Day and how we all can help be more green. He is enjoying learning about recycling and repurposing, saving energy etc. It's amazing how much 3 year olds really understand. And as Bob The Builder always says: Reduce, Re-use, Recycle!

I put a little bucket outside where neighbors smoke for their butts and they do use it.

I've started dumping my vacuum bag and hair into the compost.

Trying to remember to never leave the water running when brushing teeth. I don't usually but sometimes when I'm in a hurry, I let it go. Nothing's more important than air and water.

Lola, now I do that also. I was born in an abundance of water and it is not a habit in my old country to preserve it…

Stale bread and leftovers from resturants go to the ducks, squirrels and fish crows.

I grab everybody's uneaten stuff for the critters.

I too water my plants with the water left in my bedside drinking glass or in bottles from the car or gym. Also compost vegetable parings and eggshells and other kitchen garbage for my gardens.

I suppose my smallest thing is not to have a running faucet when I brush my teeth. I grew up with droughts in Los Angeles and this basic action of turning off the faucet has stuck with me the rest of my life.

I have always felt that “going green” is a journey, not a destination. I don’t see how it is possible to wake up one day and “be green”. And it is funny that although I have been in the path for a while, I still get myself doing things that can be improved and I hadn’t noticed yet. I do believe that every little step counts on curbing waste and living more planet-friendly. Ok, what I am talking about? LOL

I always have a bottle of water with me. But very often I do not drink all the water and the bottle is left in the car all day long. When I get home I have to refill the bottle. I was doing that when I dumped on the sink half bottle of water. And suddenly it hit me I was just wasting water and on a daily basis without ever noticing it.

Well, now when I have water left in the bottle I used to water my (so in need of it) plants. I was just surprise that I had never thought of it.

So, do you guys have little things on daily life that can be overseen by other you would like to share?
