DH and I plan to gather up litter along a mile of river bank locally, and plant our peas.

Our town does a 20-minute cleanup on Friday, which I will participate in.

But for actual Earth Day, I didn't know what I was going to do until this morning, at the gym, when the idea occurred to me.

My gym does not collect water bottles for recycling, and I have tried several times to talk to the owner about it. I got him to agree to collecting the water bottles for that day... I'll make the signs to post by the garbage cans, I'll supply the bags, and I'll pick up the bottles and take them to the recycling depot.

My town does an annual litter pick-up day near or on earth day each year (this year on the 18th) so that is what I will be doing.

As for me I don't know what or if I am doing anything organized yet.

Earth Day is on Wednesday and I have yoga teacher training that night that I have to drive to (it is in a remote area at the mouth of a deep canyon).

I am hoping to have this Saturday free to stroll our local farmers market, help a friend buy a bike from our local Community Cycles non-prof annual bike sale, and go for a long hike with my husband on the outskirts of town. If I can do all that and only use my bicycle I will be happy.

I think this group is probably pretty good at celebrating Earth Day everyday... but 22 April is the official day.

So does anyone have any special plans for the 22nd or the weekends around the day?

Please add links if there is something the group could use.
