I just got mine in the mail yesterday, super fast shipping! They are beautiful. I ordered 4 bracelets for my daughters and one for my friend. I wish I had ordered one for me now. Maybe after Christmas I will. If you are thinking of buying them do it.
This is from one of my other teams and I knew that this was worthy of posting here:
"Today I found out about a WONDERFUL organization that has not only beautiful gifts, but an even more beautiful cause. I bought gifts for all the women in my life that I love (ok - I spent a few on myself as well!!)
A girl from work brought in these beads from Bead for life ( www.beadforlife.org/ ). These beads are BEAUTIFUL and they are put into necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and having seen them in person, I can't begin to tell you how beautiful they are.
The beads are made from PAPER - recycled magazines by these women in Uganda whose husbands have died from AIDS or from the wars in Uganda and they make and sell these in order to bring their community out of poverty. An American Organization has brought the beads to America, so your shipping charges are relatively cheap. There are stories and pictures and I just really recommend you check them out. They are not expensive at all (the cheapest thing being bracelets at $5 and the most expensive being certain necklaces at $30).
My plan for my gifts:
If you go to the "Meet the Beaders" section it gives you the name of each woman as well as their picture. Click on the name and it will tell you their story. I am going to pick one woman for each gift I am giving, print out her picture and her story, and include it in the gift.
You can also "host a bead party" in which they will send you necklaces, bracelets, as well as information about the beads, how they are made, the people who make them, and where the finances go (You can also find out about the programs the money goes to under the "How to help" section of the website), and then after 1 week you send what you don't sell back (but hopefully - you won't have anything to send back!). This is what the lady at my work was doing. A women's group at her church had hosted a "Bead Party" at church and they were trying to sell the rest of what they had at work. She was selling over $200 a day at work!
Anyway, please understand I am in NO way affiliated with this organization, and I do not benefit personally in any way shape or form from this. But at a time of year when we will take time to reflect on all the blessings that we have, I think it is important to reflect on what other people DON'T have and how we can help."
ANYWAY, I THOUGHT IF ANYONE, THIS TEAM WOULD APPRECIATE THIS THE MOST...!!
