Interesting topic :) I was also going to say that I reuse cards for gift tags--especially Christmas cards. I just cut the front off, usually I just cut out the picture and then write on the back, punch a hole and presto-no more buying gift tags and cards are reused.

I like that idea about postcards--I hadn't thought of that :)

Cut the back off and make greeting post cards. Saves on postage, too!

How cool! I love those and the wrapping paper too. I would feel so much better about using this paper and these cards.

Also with the cards you could do all kinds of things. I saw a really cool recycled Christmas card basket...with free instructions on how to online.

I use christmas cards as gift tags the following year- just tie them onto our cloth gift bags.

I've heard of those -- but not been able to find them anywhere.

They make greeting cards that are on paper containing seeds... so once the card is read, you can soak it, plant it, and grow something beautiful.

My niece has made me some beautiful cards where she frames pieces of music in lace or string and then uses tasteful amounts of glitter or stripes with it. It always means so much to me to get one of her cards. They are on recycled paper and she just adds a lovely personal note.

That's cool -- I've done that before. I made my mom a card for Mother's Day one year. I used lyrics from a song, and wrote personal statements under each line. Who says you have to be 5 to make a hand-made gift for your parents! LOL

That's a great idea, I will be sure to do that.

My mom makes her own cards to send to family and friends. She uses recycled paper, and for the image, she chooses a photograph or cuts a picture out of an old magazine, and then writes her own message inside, of course. I've found that these are some of my favorite cards that I have ever gotten-- not *just* because they're from my mom, but because they're so personal!

Now I'm one who LOVES to send people cards -- birthday, christmas, thinking of you, etc. But what do you DO with them after the holiday, birthday, etc., is over?

Well, a friend of mine clued me in to a little trick. An example: I personally collect ornaments, plates, blankets, etc., with wolves on them. Someone gave me a birthday card with a beautiful grey wolf on it. Of course, I wasn't going to get rid of it -- but what to do? Got an extra picture frame laying around? Frame that card! These also make great gifts -- cut the back off (where they've signed their name, and where the little poem is) and get a nice frame at the local Dollar Store.

They are making cards out of recycled paper, so you can always watch for that, too.
