wow, where are we all? lol - no post since July 1st? my goodness... hope everyone is enjoying the July 4th holiday - gotta say, we finally have a very pretty, nice and hot, and blue sky today - looooove it! spent about 2 hours in the pool, came in to take a delivery of pets from friends going away for a week, I'm babysitting a bunny and a guinea pig. I've have a few guinea pigs in my life, but this will be a first for a rabbit. She's very cute - little brown thing called Hershey.. looks like a choc bar... lol Scooter is the gp - very cute. I'm happy. I lost my little gp back around Christmas time so its been awhile since I've had furry creatures... fish aren't so cuddly...

I've had a descent week - lost the 2 pounds I had gained last week - so I'm back to 60 off. Working out a lot in the pool and walking a lot as well. Scheduled for tomorrow and Sunday for my regular walks - 4 miles each - give or take a mile.

Hope everyone is doing good and just real busy - Mamasplash - excellent! 13.5 emoticon emoticon

Keep tracking, keep progressing - we got this!

Hello all,

Just a quick note before I go into full fibro fog. I did 80 minutes of walking today. Ended up walking 5 miles today while doing housecleaning at work. Plan to do circuit training tomorrow. I did take a day off on Sunday. I will catch up on posts tomorrow since everyone seems busy but in a good way.

I weighed this morning for my weekly weight check. I lost 13.5 pounds this week. I guess because I got sick. I didn't expect that. I ate all my calories and drank water. I did feel like I had a fever on Friday. Whatever, I always lose more than usual the first week, Nevertheless, I have never lost that much weight in one week.

I'm going to eat a more calories this week.

Hi everyone! Hope everyone had a great Sunday!

Letha....CONGRATS on the 9 lbs loss!!! Wow, you are doing great! Keep up the good work!

Berta...Hope you are having a great time! See ya when you get back!!

Sandy....Congrats on the 3 lb loss! You go girl!!

Linda....Welcome!! I noticed in your post you were talking about being accountable. When I started SP one of the things I did was tell anybody who would listen that I was doing this. Even the cashiers at the grocery store know! All my friends and family too! It really helped me to be more accountable and not backslide. By the way...I love coffee too! Besides my morning coffee my husband and I always have 2 cups of flavored coffee after dinner. I LOVE chocolate flavored coffees and hazlenut and vanilla and....well you get the picture!! LOL

Mamasplash....YES...WATER!!! So happy for you that that nightmare is over!!

Mylifeinhim.....Wow you certainly have a busy life! I know the feeling though. My in-laws lived with us for just about all of my married years until they both passed. My mother-in-law had multi-infarc dementia and needed constant care. You have a lot on you PLUS taking care of a farm! Plus working! Take it one day at a time and each day try to find some time for YOU.

Kim....Thank you for the continued prayers and the compliment. Jim is a very special friend who I have known since I was 12. Kinda like my male BFF! LOL My knees are still doing great! Where was this darn little pill all my life? I am happy you had a good visit with your sisters. I will pray for your older sister. Hopefully seeing yours and your sister's weight loss she will 'wake up' and realize she can do it too!

Tammy....Hope your vacation is going well! Yep, my knees are still good! See ya when you get back!

Judy....Welcome home!!! Okay....how's that toe and heel doing? I hope much better!

Ladywyndy....Welcome back!! Glad to have you back with us!

Hopefully I didn't forget anyone. Been busy between talking with Jim and trying to get everything done. Have to pack over the next two days. We are leaving Wednesday for a long weekend camping! YAY! Hopefully this weather will break and it won't be as humid. But we have a/c in the trailer in case it's still hot. Hope everyone has an amazing Monday!! Hugs!

There is a song on a show that my Grand Kids watch and I think it applies : "Keep trying, keep trying, don't give up, never give up" I intend to keep trying and I will never give up till I reach my goal!

Nothing happens overnight. Remember one pound lost is one pound closer to your goal.

Get up every morning, take a deep breath & make it the best day that you possibly can.

With you all in spirit everyday.....Gery

Good evening everyone,

Just got back from watching 'The Heat" with Sandra Bullock & Melissa McCarthy. It was hilarious! I was really good, no popcorn for me. I only drank water. emoticon

Darn..I wanted to reply to everyone but can't see the whole screen. Tomorrow I'll see if I can do a split screen.

The comment about the stomach bypass, yeah I wish I wouldn't have done it. I'm glad you didn't listen to your doctor. I have to watch my sugar intake the rest of my life. One of the side effects is that is you eat too much sugar at one time you'll get the "runs...ugh."

Comment about going to the beach. I sure wish I lived close to one. Chicago is about a hour drive from the house. We don't head up there as much as I'd like.

It's getting late. I need to get up early so I better get going. BTW..I found the 11 minute chair cardio workout. I'm going to start it tomorrow.

Have a great Monday!!!!!

Linda

Welcome to all the new people, its great to see new faces.
Berta, yes I was talking about the crescent rolls and hash browns, I was just pouting because I am having blood sugar issues now ,and I may have to really restrict my sugars and carbs. I am not sure if its my tea/lemonade mixes, they have aspertain in them, or the increase in my fruit consumption, or a combo of both. I am sorry if I offended you.
Great news on the knee pain Cricket.
Yes Linda I had a Dr. try to talk me into bypass surgery he even got pre-approval from the insurance co. but I knew it wouldn't work for me because my thoughts about food and exercise had not changed at all. so I am glad I did not do it. I hope you find what you need here on spark, and we are here to help each other.
My vacation is ok, hectic but that's life, my plans are changing rapidly, so not sure when I will be home maybe sooner than I thought, so that is good.
well have a good weekend everyone.

Lady Wyndy Ė Nice to meet you. I look forward to getting to know you in the coming months.

Linda Ė Thanks for the congrats. Itís great that your hubby is going to be your weight loss buddy. At least then you donít have to prepare two different meals at home.
Iím having a good morning. Got my food tracking and my 11 minute seated cardio video exercise done. I also got my vitamin D by having my morning coffee out on the deck in the sunshine watching the blue jays fussing over the peanuts lined up along the railing.

No big plans today. Iím making lentil soup and probably later going over to the beach to watch the people, dogs, horses, birds, and waves. Itís a good day.

Good afternoon everyone,

Letha (congrats on the 9 lb. loss) & MyLifeInHim thank you for the info on "Sparkpeople 11 minute seated cardio video exercise." I'll try to find it on here. I never even thought they had such a thing, glad to hear they do. I'm going to start tracking my nutrition and exercises on here starting Tuesday. Monday I go to the doctor. The last time I was there he wanted me to think about "my plan of action" meaning how I'm going to start to lose weight by July 1st when I go back to visit him. My hubby also needs to lose so we'll do it together.
I'm going to check out the recipes on here, looks there are plenty to choose from.

I'm so tired of the rain here in Illinois. It seems like this summer we've had rain almost every day. I love to read my Kindle on the deck in the back yard and look at all my beautiful flowers. It's raining as I write.

I'm going to check out the "Sparkpeople 11 minute seated cardio video exercise", and some recipes.

Have a great day everyone..see you tomorrow!

Linda

KIMH51 Ė Thanks for the congrats and encouragement. Glad to hear you are enjoying the visit with your sisters.

MYLIFEINHIM Ė Between your job, your farm, and all the work you do as a caregiver, Iím impressed that you find the time to take care of yourself. It must be a challenge. Wishing you success with all that you do.

MAMASPLASH Ė Water!!! It must be great to have it turned on again. So many things we take for granted until we lose them.

Linda Ė Welcome, Iím fairly new too. I joined Sparkpeople years ago to use the recipe builder software but itís just been the past few weeks that Iíve started consistently tracking my food & exercising. Iíve never had surgery but I have repeatedly lost and gained more then 100 pounds. Iím at one of my highest weights right now. Iím doing the Sparkpeople 11 minute seated cardio video exercise. I had to modify the movements quite a bit to take it down to my fitness level so that I can keep moving for the entire 11 minutes. You can track seated exercise on sparkpeople, make it part of your daily/weekly goals and it will tell you how many calories you burn. You can start where you are and build up as slowly as you need to. I look forward to hearing lots more from you.

Sandy Ė congrats on the 3 pound loss!!

BERTA48 Ė Iíve never played with an embroidery machine. Sounds like fun. Iíll add a link to my Black-Eyed Pea & Hominy soup to the bottom of this post.
---------------------

So, I'm pretty proud of myself for doing my Sparkpeople 11 minute seated cardio video exercise for 8 days in a row. And this morning I got it done before 7 am. This is day 9 for 100% food tracking. What's been working for me is to input what I plan to eat first thing in the morning and then adjust it if needed during the day.

Overall things are going along nicely. Life is good. Iíll be back tomorrow.

Hi everyone... great job Letha on the 9lbs... WOW! emoticon - you get the double emoticon !!!

Geri - prayers still ongoing for you and Jim.. what a great friend you are to him, with all your support. So happy you finally have relief from the pain in your knees!! How awesome is that!!!

Berta - you rock on with your soups girlfriend! I love soup too, but stick mostly to all veggie so no calories - or little calories and normally only in the fall/winter -

Hope everyone is surviving the weather - sooo hot out mid-west and so damp and raining, stormy flooding here in the north east... we've had nothing by t-storms all week - flooding all around us, but not right here. One guy I work with had over 4 ft of water in his basement on Thursday. ughhh

My sisters arrived around 4 am on Friday morning - we visited for 1/2 hour then all crashed... yesterday as soon as I got the pool vacumned out (lots of sawdust from the back porch reno!!), they both got in and within a second, booom booooom, thunder - out we got. Hoping for a bit longer time today in there! lol

We haven't seen each other since Jan and it was only a short visit, so we are really enjoying the visit. I'm the youngest of the three of us, the next one to me is also doing the weightloss thing, not on sp, but she has lost 90 pounds, I asked her where the other half of her was when they arrived! She looks awesome! The oldest one, however, still needs to figure it out. She weighs the most, she is diabetic and her eating habits are horrible. She had stomach bypass surgery well over 20 or 30 years ago, she was one of the first, and lost almost 80 lbs, then gained and gained and gained. I'm really worried about her, but she says "I'm being good now", I'm walking etc., yeah right - we keep encouraging her, which is all we can do...

Well we are off shortly to do some shopping and the clouds are rolling in.. ugh.

Have a great day everyone, sorry for the long post - rambling.

Keep tracking, keep progressing and we got this!!!

Hi Linda,
I have not had any of the surgerys but have like you battled this weight since my early teens. I lost 100 pounds when I was in Jr year of HS and then by age 26 was higher in weight then I had ever been. I lost 100 pounds again but since that time put it all back on and some and the most I have been able to drop at one time is about 40lbs. At 63, like you with many disadvantages with having had spine surgery, bad knee and 1/2 of thyroid removed and no hormones to speak of it changes all things for us, but you are right. The ladies have all suggested chair exercises and there is the spark mobile impared exercise that is great for us. So you are in the right place and we can cheer each other on daily. I am on vacation next week but will try and get on here at least one time a day. I have to say working at home is harder then my job. But I really plan to put all I have into this new wellness plan. God bless you and good luck to you...hope we chat a lot. Seems to help my. My husband says my jaw muscles are my strongest...lol I am a police dispatcher. I do have the gift for gab. Have a great day! emoticon

New here also and am glad to join such a great group of ladies. I am trying to stay within my goal of 1200-1300 cal's this week and eat so my sugar level does not drop again sending me out of this world. That was scary earlier in the week. I was trying to do the Spark Solution Challenge but the way my life is working midnights, trying to sleep during the day and my mother-in-law has been with us last 6 years and she has to be attended to each hour of the day until my niece comes to take care of her at night. My full sleep days are Tues and Thurs when my sister-in-law comes and takes over like an angel. House, laundrey cooking, she truly is my saving grace. Still working midnights and living on a farm keeps us all busy througout the week then weekends I am on my own. But God gave me this season however He did not relieve me of my duty to get my health back in control. My husband had esophagus cancer, so I cook to make sure he has what he likes, mama will only eat certain things so I cook for her by the time I get to me I just want to throw anything on my plate and not take time to really cook and fix for myself. I go on vacation when getting off work this morning for 9 days. Not really a vacation for me just away from work. lol I plan to prepare menus for myself, and cook a week worth of food for me like meat generic and fix it to suit me on the nights I eat it. Kind of learned that from my Spark Solution book. It has many helpful ideas for getting on track. So here I go I will weigh in see how I did my first week on Monday and head on to a better way of eating, and wellness for life. At 63 I think I had better. Hope all of you have a great weekend and a successful week.

I'm new too. I joined this week. I have had fun with joining in on the Spark People. I have decided to take a day one approach. I'm trying to do a Mindfulness practice which I learned at Cancer Wellness. It really helped me get though all of that.

People do chair fitness. It counts too and helps you feel better.

I think I can say that is my true goal. I just want to feel good about everything each day.

Eating right and exercising helps.

The plumbers were still here so my brother went on the brew tour with DH. That was OK because I don't drink that much. The two of them had a good time.

Hooray!!!!!!!!

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Linda, I'm 54 and have lots of weight to lose. I've been yo-yo'ing since my teen years. I lose weight and then gain it all back..ugh
I need the support of a group. If I log on every day it will keep my accountable.

A little about me.
I've been married to my wonderful hubby for 27 yrs. We were never fortunate to have children BUT we have three 10 month old kittens named Sage, Nutmeg, and Pepper that were abandoned by their mother. I've had my stomach stapled (lost 140 lbs and gained it back), a stomach bypass (lost 150 and gained it back). I guess I haven't been able to get it through my head that once you lose the weight you can't go back to eating the way you were if you want to keep it off. Easier said than done. I've had both total knee replacements 4 years ago and have gained since then which isn't good for my knees. My hips are bad know but I can't have surgery because I'm too heavy. Exercise is a real problem for me since I can't walk without a cane. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

OK I got that off my chest..I don't want to be a downer..lol

I have a doctor appointment Monday..oh boy..why is it they always want to weigh you? I wonder what he would say if I said "no, not this time buddy"?

As you can tell from my username I love coffee. I try to only drink 3-4 per day. I joined the water challenge 8 per day. I should be able to handle that.

I'll check in tomorrow, have a great evening everyone! emoticon

Linda

Hello GANG
WOW this board is really growing.LOVE IT! However ,really makes it harder to be sure to chat with everyone!!!

I won 50 SP points on the wheel today. I also recieved my free exercise cd for my points I won one time the other day.( I haven't watched it yet so don't know if I can do it or not?)BUT I just wish there were some actual prizes. But I suppose that would cost to much.

I got my embroidery machine back yesterday (over 300.00) to fix it.It was the motor. But it should last me another 7 years now. I certainly hope so.We thought it was the computer part but it was the motor. So I pray the computer part doesn't go out too!!

TODAY I am leaving at 3:00 to go see my DD &DGS I am so excited I feel like a little kid at Christmas!!!!!LOL I know my eating wil be bad but I am going to have fun and enjoy them no matter the results!!

Cricket glad you are back.Like your new pic.So happy Jim is better.

Tammy which breakfast are you speaking of? I try not to eat to many carbs. Are you talking about where I posted about the busted cresent rolls?I only ate1/4 of it.I usually have three carbs a day.Our dietician for our diabetes says 2 per meal?????
But I NEVER do that.My carbs are at supper .I try not to eat after 8:00 but sometimes I don't make it!

Letha
We like all sorts of soup.My favoirte is potatocorn chowd or clam chowder.BUT all that cream isn't really healthy and uit brings my calories waaay up.So I try to stick with mosltybroht type one.Lost of flavor.I'd like the one you are making today are posting?Give me alimk so I can see it please.

Mama Hope youget everything taken care of.That weoudl be a hardship tpo be without water for so long.UUUGGGH!

Kim we have been having some work done around here too. Digging outside and we had a new roof put on 3 years ago when we bought our house. We got the first time homebuyers tax refund 8000.00 that was really nice( don't have to pay it back either after we have lived here 3 years and it is 3 years this month!). So we had our screened in porch redone, a new roof and half bath in our laundry/sewing room !

Dee
Good to see you back.I remember you from the last time I tried SP. Yes, I am really, really praying and hoping the new Thyroid medication helpos me loose.I know there are not a magic pill. But maybe it won't be so hard for me to loose!

JUDY & SASSY Where are you???I hope I didn't miss anyone. If I did I am sorry. it was NOT intentional!!
As Always BIG HUGS TO EVERYONE.See you next week!!!!! emoticon

Momasplash Ė have fun on your beer tour Ė hope you get to enjoy some running water tonight.

Cricket251 Ė Great profile pic Ė Congrats on your doctor visit tests. Thanks for the encouraging note.

Motelmom Ė Hope your visit went well and that you enjoy your out of town trip.

Kimh51 Ė I also get stressed when we have any work done on the house. We also need a new roof and Iíve been considering metal. Hope you will be able to relax and enjoy the completed projects soon.

Deedaye Ė I went a long time with untreated sleep apnea and found my thinking cleared up a lot when I started using the CPAP. I am kind of holding out hope that should I ever achieve a ďnormalĒ weight that I might not need that contraption. Itís been 25 years since Iíve been below 300 pounds so no telling.

Berta48 Ė Iím making a different soup today. Black-eyed Pea & Hominy. What kinds of soups do you like at your house?
----------------

I had a great weigh-in today. I lost 9 lbs this week and 16.8 lbs since May 17th, 2013. Iíve been eating 1800 calories per day for the past week. Today was my 7th day in a row to complete the Sparkpeople 11-minute seated cardio exercise video. I feel like Iím off to a good start and things are rolling along nicely. Iíll be back tomorrow.

I just cruised through the posts. Still familiarizing myself with y'all.

We are in the home improvement blues mode. No water for 3 days has been interesting. I have been able to keep sparkin. I tracked my food. I have been going to exercise at Cancer wellness for two years now so that was not different.

Thank God the plumbers are here and water should be on by 2pm EST.

My DH bought a groupon for a brew tour. We let it go to almost expiration. We are going today. I don't really drink that much anyway. I'm just going to taste a little b/c I'm the DD.

I hope all have a good day.

Keep Sparkin!!!!

emoticon

I'm trying to keep a Day One attitude. If I can do that, I think I will be OK.

Hi everyone! Oh boy...did it again! I missed a couple of days and WOW! A lot of posts to read! I changed my profile picture to one where I'm smiling. I sent the same picture to Jim and told him he put the smile there! Tomorrow he gets his port-cath put in for the chemo treatments and also an MRI on his brain to rule out any cancer there. Then he will start daily radiation for the month of July and three very powerful chemo treatments during the month. I've been busy talking with him the last few days hence me being MIA!
MamaSplash....Welcome! Glad to have you join the group! Hope you get those plumbing problems cleared up!

Berta....I hope the meds works out well. That could definitely be some of the reason for the ups and downs in your weight. Enjoy your visit with your daughter!

Judy...Oh no! Not the OTHER foot! Yes you must be walking very funny. I really hope it heals quickly! Try to stay off it as much as you can. Feel better!

Letha...Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the good work. You have such a great attitude, you are going to do this!

Tammy....Have a good safe trip! See ya when you get back!

Kim....Wow...your house sounds busier than mine! But I bet even with all the stress it looks great! Not fun having to clean everything in those cabinets. Been there done that! Try to relax a bit when you get done!

Sandy...I love that...bicep curls with trash bags! Sounds like me bench pressing my Grandson! He likes to be an airplane but at 36 lbs he's getting a bit heavy! I also sit on the edge of the bed with my feet on the floor and sit one of the grand kids on my stomach and do crunches. They love doing crunches with Grandma! They get a ride and I get a workout! LOL

Dee.....I have a FitBit !!!! I love it !! Mine is the Zip. I got it about a month ago. It just sent my email on my progress. And I got an email from Walgreens. They have a walking program you can join. According to Walgreens site I have logged 50 miles since I started wearing my FItBIt. 50 !! I have it linked with SP and Walgreens so far. All the walking I do at stores and at home gets counted now! it's great!

I went to the doctor on Monday for my normal 6 month check-up for blood pressure. My blood pressure was 118/64 !! Pulse was 70 (used to be 100 before weight loss). He was very happy. Just have to wait for blood work to come back. While I was there I asked AGAIN if I could get something for my knees. He gave me a script for a strong anti-inflammatory. I can take up to 3 a day but he said 1 should do it. The very first pill I took within 2 hours my knees didn't hurt! I have actually woken up every morning pain free. The first time in I don't know how long the pain in my knees didn't wake me up! I looked at the little white pill in my hand this morning and said "where have you been all my life?" I honestly can't remember a pain free day with my knees since I was 13 years old! Just hope this keeps up, I actually feel normal!

Hope I didn't miss anyone. Tried to get 'caught up' on as much as I could. To anyone I missed Hi !! Have an amazing fabulous Friday everyone!!

I don't have 2 screens for awhile so I hope I don't miss anyone.
Kim, you will burn off those 2 lbs in no time, I hate when company comes, because I panic and run around like a chicken with my head cut off, cleaning and worrying. I love the company but not the panic it puts me in.
Judy, you can have the high temps, I hate the cold, I do better with the heat but not to much heat, I have been in the house with the AC all day though, except I walked over to get the mail, I took my dogs because they need exercise also but they had the leases tangled around my ankles while they were running off barking at another dog, the joys off walking my dogs emoticon
Thank-you for the soup recipe, I think it was sassy. That's great if you get 3 cups for that amount of calories.
Welcome mama, I hope your plumbing problems get fixed. That's a real pain.

letha, no I don't have a website with my work ,I am mostly armature still. I have a few pictures of my painting on my spark page, I have some more done I will put on there some day.

Berta good luck on the meds, your invention for breakfast sounds really good but that many carbs in one day would put me into a major craving issue. I ate one cookie and a piece of hard candy the other day, and I ended up with the shakes and my blood sugar was high. I have not had high blood sugar issues for a long time, so I don't know what happened. So I have been afraid to eat to many high sugar or carb foods since that.
sorry if I missed anyone.
I am going out of town for awhile so you all be safe and have fun, I will try to check in while I am gone.

Taking a break from cleaning house - for 5 or 10 mins... in the last two weeks we have had central a/c installed, LOVE IT, a new roof put on our house (metal - also love that), and our poor dilapidated screened in back porch torn off and rebuilt!! Its been chaos at the house - oh yeah, also we "used to" have a "box" light thing in our kitchen with 4 or 6 florescent lights torn down and a ceiling fan/light put up in its place - the hubster was to do that project, however, the roofers/back porch people who were supposed to help by repairing the ceiling ran out of time, so we hired a prof. painter at the last min.

I've been sooooo freaken stressed out all week - we are having company this weekend (my two sisters). I really wanted the back porch and kitchen "finished".. I specifically asked the contractor to not start IF he thought they wouldn't be finished by today, that we would hold off until next week etc. He promised me, then started, then disappeared for 2 days!!! well, I should say he was here, but working on the roof... deep breath, I've been counting to 10 slowly... lol - long story short - we hired a guy that works with my hubster who is "part Amish" - and his family - really nice guys, hard workers, but finally today, in the rain, they had to finish the back porch - I told my hubby to tie/tether them, lock the gate, not to let them leave until done!!!

The guy we found to do the kitchen at the last min didn't cover anything in the kitchen, so now I'm in the process of taking everything, and I mean everything out and wiping it all down - it all looks great, I'm glad its done, but now I'm a mean cleaning machine!! who needed to vent! thanks for listening!!! LOL

Guess I'm burning major calories again tonight!!! LOL My sisters live about 6 - 7 hours away, the hubster (who is exhausted) is at work tonight... so I'm home alone and cleaning cleaning cleaning.. whew!

Don't worry about the weight gain. That's happens a lot when people start exercising. Just keep trying. It could just be water retention. You will see your efforts from this week next week.

The plumber is here. They have to mark the utilities before they can start replacing the water line.

sigh

It could be tomorrow or Monday. We will be camping in the house. I think we can manage. If not, I love to stay in hotel.

I had food already cooked in the fridge. So, I have been able to stick to it. I have been tracking. I just need to get out and exercise. We have Tai Chi tonight. That is our fun night out.

emoticon Mamasplash I'm sorry to hear about your water problems. I have had the experience of my husband thinking he fixed the problem only to find out that he didn't. I hope the repair isn't too costly.

Kim, the weight gain could just be due to water retention. Sometimes I find that even though I am making healthy choices I am eating too much of a "good thing!" If you are eating right & exercising you will probably see a big loss next weigh-in. emoticon

Judy, you had quite a busy day. I hope all went well with your relative's cataract surgery. The Girls Night Out sounds like fun. It seems you managed to enjoy the night without going overboard. Good for you! emoticon

Berta, it sounds yummy! That was very creative of you! Getting your thyroid under control should definitely help your weight loss. emoticon

Tammy, Unfortunately, I'm still having stomach issues. We did eat out at Red Lobster the night before it started, so it is possible it's food related but I am the only one who is sick. Hopefully it will result in some weight loss. I'll take it any way can get it! emoticon Though it will probably just be water weight! I like that you get in exercise wherever & when ever possible! The doctor's office is the perfect place to practice healthy habit! Even though I wasn't feeling well I got my 10,000 steps in yesterday!

Sandy, turning household chores into a full workout is brilliant! emoticon

Letha, I use a C-Pap too. It has made a world of difference in my sleeping. I had untreated sleep apnea for years. I was exhausted all the time. I first I didn't realize what is was but even when I did I went a full year without being checked because I was worried about having to use a machine. So silly and irresponsible of me. I use to get 3-4 times a night to use he bathroom. I thought that was just what was normal for me. The first night with the C-Pap I slept straight through without having to get up to us the bathroom. I didn't realize it was the apnea causing me to have get & go. The fit bit monitors your movement to see if you are getting a"restful" sleep as well as how long you sleep. emoticon

Morning to Everyone
Today is good so far.Being busy with housework and laundry.Have to have clean clothes for my trip to DD tomorrow emoticon .I am so excited. It has been waaaay to long since I have seen them.I know it has been at least nine months! They only lice ave 150 miles South of us but she has her own life you know.Anf we only have one car so it is hard for me to get there since DH still works thorugh the week.He is batching it this week-end and will be grounded cause I'm taking the car LOL. emoticon

I know my eating won't be on plan but I am going to enjoy my visit and not worry about a diet for the time being!

WELCOME Mama. This is a great group of ladies. Very encouraging and we are all in the same boat.So keep posting.... it does help to be accountable to someone!

Letha
That soup looks emoticon Thank you! I filed it in my recipe collection. We eat lots of soup in the winter months. We really like soup. I couldn't believe 3 cups is a serving of that soup WOW that's quite alot! LOVE IT LOL emoticon

Kim
I wouldn't worry about the gain!(Well I would)LOL But It will come back off especially with all the exercising you do!.You are doing FANTASTIC! I will be so happy when I reach the loss that you have had!

Judy& Dee
I sure hope and pray the meds help me loose.I know I will stil have to try to eat healthy and get in more movement anyway but at least it might not be so dog gone hard to loose!!!!!

There was only girl at my class last night and she ate all the strawberries but the four I had LOL It was cute to watch her. SHe is very thin so it didn't hurt anything. The cram cheese was the culprit! But boy it was really good.I stirred it up and made it really soft and added sweetner and just a tad of cinnamon..... very little cinnamon as I didn't want it to over power the cream cheese.

Sassy
I get my recipe mostly from SP so they are on here. Then I add them to my recipe collection they have on here!

Tammy & Cricket
emoticon Hope all is well!

AS ALWAYS Great Big Hugs To EVERYONE!

MAMASPLASH Ė Welcome and may your plumbing problems soon be in the rear view mirror.

KIMH51 Ė Great attitude Ė not letting scale fluctuations throw you off balance.

Judy1315 Ė How sweet of you to spend all that time supporting your relative and spouse doing cataract surgery.

BERTA48 Ė That brownie did look yummy and I think it would go nicely with those fresh strawberries of yours.

MOTELMOM Ė I think Iíd be self-conscious exercising at a bus stop or waiting for an elevator but one day I think Iíd like to try some Tai Chi on the beach with a group of folks. Iíve not done any oil painting yet. Iím mostly playing with acrylic paints. Do you have a blog/website with your art on it?

SASSY220888 Ė I made a 143 calorie/serving Mexican Vegetable Soup yesterday Ė a variation of the many low calorie soups I make. I like to eat soups because itís a way for me to get my veggies without adding butter, oil, or high fat dressing or sauce. Iíll put a link to the recipe at the bottom of this post.
---------------

Iím doing well today. Got my exercise and food tracking done. I started the free trial of the spark coach yesterday. Iíll play around with this week but Iím thinking there is enough support, information, general content on the regular spark website that I donít need to pay for a premium service.

Life is good. Iíll check back tomorrow.

I have put my introduction on the introduce yourself thread. I'm glad I started using Spark People this week. I think that's just what it is so far. It's a spark to help me do something I need to do. i kind of realized this morning that I have everything I need to eat right and exercise each day. I just have to do it. Using Spark People will be a good motivation and help me keep focused.

We have had trouble here at our house this week because our main water line sprung a leak. My husband is trying to fix it himself. We have basically had no water for two days except when he turns it on and off to realize he didn't fix it and it's still leaking.

We are calling a plumber at this point.

I'm hanging in there.

Morning all... this is what I just posted on the weekly weigh-in...
I gained 2 this week, I really hit the exercise hard and obviously didn't counter it with the correct amount of food - I'm working on it tho... feeling good and I know the 2 pounds was NOT from eating "junk" etc. it happens everytime I increase or start exercising if a lag time happens.... at least thats my story and I'm sticking to it! lol

Good evening, or should I say good night, since it's after 11pm? I'm bushed, but wanted to get my SP responsibilities taken care of.

What a screwy food day for me! I started the day with my usual latte I make at home. Then on to the dentist. When I got out of there, I realized it was time for a relative's cataract surgery just down the street from where I was. I decided to go there just to see the patient and spouse for a bit. The "bit" turned out to be until 4:30! The doc was over 3 hours late due to unforeseen abnormal eye anatomies in her first couple of patients. After I left there, I went to the grocery store. I finally ate a ham & cheese sandwich at about 5:30. Went to a neighbor's house for Girls' Night Out where I ate only 3 tiny tidbits, plus 1/2 a sundae, and 2 glasses of wine. I think I am okay for the day even though most of the eating occurred after 5. Things should even out, right?

I'm pooped now and am ready for bed!

Tammy, you're talking about 100 this weekend, and our weather people here are talking about 80 and low humidity! I'm really hoping for our predicted scenario. I may get your 100s, though, next week! A hurricane in Idaho? Funny!

Thanks for the good wishes about the recovery of my toe and heel! I sure am looking forward to the day when I am no longer tender-footed. Patience is sometimes tough for me, Sandy, but I'm trying. I really want walking to be easy and pain-free again. Someday, right?

Berta, good luck with your doctor's appointment. It would be great to learn that your weight loss would improve if you do have to take meds for your thyroid. No one wants to, but there are always good and bad to everything. I haven't seen the recipe yet. Thanks for the heads-up.

Goodnight everyone!

Hello Spark Buds emoticon
Well today has been a busy one. DH came home an hour early and I went to fix him somethingto eat and when I opened the fridge there was a can of cresent rolls that had popped open.SO I took them and spread them all out in a pie pan added some 95% diced farmland cubed ham and some cheese, seasonings and some hasbrowns and then pressed the sides of the dough up and around the fillings so it was like a log and baked it.It turned out really good.

Don't know how I am going to count it, but so far today that is all I have eaten. And after church we are having bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwiches .I can count those. So I know know I won't be over my calorie limit.I use the sara lee delightful multigrain bread, 90 cal. for 2 slices.

Well Drs office called today and I have to go in next Mon July 8th for him to discuss some of my test results. The nurse did say I am to start takng thyroid pills and fish oil.So I am now understanding much better why I have been having so much problem loosing weight.I was on it and stopped because my last Dr put me on it per request.(I was thinking it would help me loose wt.) Well now my new Dr is even upping the dosage( So I guess I really do need it). Perhaps it'll help give me a boost with this weight loss? Hope so anyway.

Well it's late and have to get ready for my class tonight I always take the girls a snack and tonight I am taking fresh strawberries with cream cheese dip YUMMMY!

Did everyone see todays recipe? It's a single serving brownie MMMMM Only 94 calories. That is what I need so I don't eat the whole batch LOL

As always until next time BIG HUGS TO EVERYONE!

Sandy good idea getting your workout while working. Someone on another site said they did some public exercising ( exercising while waiting for a bus) so I decided to try that yesterday while waiting for my husband at the Dr., I did some leg lifts and some arm exercises, itís a great idea to incorporate exercise whenever we can.
Letha, I have already bought most of every kind of medium for painting, I used to use mostly oils, but lately I have been doing a lot of acrylics , I have some watercolors but they donít interest me as much. I really like some mixed medium pieces I have seen. Thank-you for the links I will check them out.
Dee, was it something you ate? Hope you get better.
Have a great day.

Hey all,

I got my workout in today by turning my cleaning job into a cardio workout. I walk about 6 and half miles while cleaning. It averages to about 570 to 650 calories. I do squats when bending, lunges when I vacuum and I do bicep curls when carrying trash. I also do extra stairs by taking items up individually.

Letha- I am taking classes online too. I am studying to get my Masters in Pastoral Counseling. I love online classes. I would love to get some of your recipes.

Kim- You are so inspiring with your exercise. You motivate me.

Judy- Hope your heel will be better too. Stay patient, your time will come.

Berta- I love the fact that you are so dedicated to tracking. Keep up the good work and share some of your recipes with us. Some of your meals sound so yummy

Hello to everyone and praying that you all have a great day

Sandy

Hi Deedaye Ė The Fit-Bit sleep thing is very interesting. I use a CPAP for my sleep apnea and I find my sleep quality effects my fibromyalgia and my peripheral neuropathy. It would be interesting to see if I could track and possible improve my sleep patterns. Iíll have to put that little toy on my wish list. How long is it until Christmas?

KIMH51 Ė Your exercise dedication is very inspiring!

JUDY1315 Ė Glad to hear the tornados missed you. Take care of that toe.

SASSY220888 Ė Great to hear the exercise is having a positive effect on your fibro. Something for me to work towards.

BERTA48 Ė I hear you on the casserole tracking. Iíve been inputting some recipes to the Sparkpeople recipe builder so I can put it on my tracker. The first challenge is portion sizes. For example, I made a Moroccan stew the other day and in order to get the calories right, I had to divide the soup into six bowls before I ate it so I knew I got one of six servings. The other thing thatís kind of a pain is sharing the recipe with my partner who is also doing spark people. The stew recipe is a McDougall program recipe so I wasnít going to share it publicly on sparkpeople for copyright reasons but I didnít want my partner to have to re-input the recipe in order to track it so I made it public temporarily & sent her a link on email. After she clicked it and made it a favorite I edited the recipe and unshared it. It would be nice if I could share a recipe with just one or two people. Surely other couples doing spark people together have encountered this. But considering this site is free I canít really complain.

MOTELMOM Ė No, the mixed media art courses arenít expensive. Right now Iím taking two. One is called Lifebook 2013. It cost $100., it has over 1900 students, and it lasts for a year with new video lessons nearly every week. Iíll share a link to the flicker site with images from studentís homework so you can see how silly it is as well as a link to the class website. The second class Iím taking is an art journal class thatís called 30 pages in 90 days. It started two weeks ago, lasts 90 days, has 82 students, and costs $65.00. Iíll share a link to that site also. The classes are not expensive but these mixed media gals spend lots of money on supplies and tools. Since I started hanging out in these classes Iíve turned a whole bedroom into an art room to hold all my new toys. Itís very self indulgent but fun.

Happy Wednesday team!

Letha, I'll keep you posted on my Fit Bit. I want to learn how to get the most out of it. I tried wearing to sleep last night because it will track your sleep pattern too. I just joined the Fit Bit team here on Spark. Still learning!

Berta, I love casseroles too but I know what you mean about tracking them. I find when I wait so late to eat I over eat in the evening. Good job measuring & tracking. can you choose the restaurant this weekend? Maybe you can look at their menu online so you can plan ahead. Then not pick up a menu when you get there, so you are not tempted to change your mind.

Sandy, enjoy your day off!

Judy, you are smart to stay in. i hope your foot is better for the weekend. Stay off of it!

Kim, sorry the weather ruined your pool plans!

Tammy,it sounds like a perfect place to star gaze. Be careful if you get those 100 degree temps!

As for me, I've been fighting a stomach bug since last night, so I am just trying to stay hydrated. emoticon
Have a great day ladies.

Abundant Blessings, Dee

It has been raining all day here today, my plant love it, it is supposed to be around 100 this weekend. Yes my one dog is afraid of most loud noise, but I was surprised at the other one. The place I saw the stars is outside of Soda springs Id, there is nothing around for miles so it is beautiful, its where my kids go hunting every year and I just tag along when possible.
That reminds me, my friend works in the library and they had a really windy day which isnít unusual in the Idaho Falls area, anyway a lady came in and said we call this a ( I think she said hurricane) but I canít remember, anyway my friend told her this is just Idaho. I always do that forget the punch line!!!

Good job Berta not weighing everyday. But do keep tracking, I can tell by my calories if I am going to lose or not most of the time. The bread sounds good Berta, I would probably eat the whole loaf. I found some eggnog I froze and I am going to make some eggnog ice cream, I better have my son and husband eat all of it except what I can have, which wonít be enough for my sweet tooth.

Letha are the online courses expensive? Silly is good for us, on occasion. Calm and peaceful sounds good, I am my own worst enemy if its to calm and quiet I start looking for something to do unless I am exhausted then I can veg out. I drive myself and my family crazy sometimes.
Have a good evening

Hi, all. I haven't been outside at all today. I've been working through my do-do list to try to catch up with everything that got left behind when the graduation was happening. I'm also trying to do what the doc recommended, and stay off the toe as much as I can. I'm going out of town for a bit this weekend, and there will be walking involved so I'd like to be in better shape. If it's hot and humid, like the weather "experts" said it would be, I don't need to be outside! A son just came home and told me that it is very hot and humid outside. Staying in is good!

Sandy, great job on the exercise, as usual. I think about the day when my heel and toe aren't roadblocks to walking and other upright exercises. I hope I'll be as able and diligent as you and Kim are.

Tammy, it's funny how animals don't like thunder, isn't it? I would have to say that most of the dogs and the cat I've had during my life weren't too affected by storms, but my big, baby of a rottweiler was completely afraid. She would lie next to me with her ears down, shaking and drooling. I wasn't too thrilled with the drool. Thank goodness that only happened when there was a thunderstorm! This was a 95 pound "tough" dog, too, which made it funnier. She was really the sweetest thing, and thought she was a miniature dachshund because that's what her 2 older "sisters" she was raised with were. There's nothing like lying down under a star-filled sky just watching it. I read a few years ago that one of the best places for stargazing in the US is Merritt Reservoir, about 25 miles south of Valentine, NE. Sometime I'd love to go there and check it out. We've got too much light where I live to do the sky justice.

Deeday, I love your school schedule. It sounds like the good, old day, when people could actually plan their vacations in August and start school after Labor Day. Now in this area, school is starting about the 10th of August, when it's super hot. I just don't understand the logic behind the current schedule. I have to admit that I didn't do any toe icing yesterday, and haven't done any today, yet, either. BAD! I have stayed off of my feet, though, and I can tell it isn't hurting as much as it was. Thanks!

Letha, apparently there were a number of sighted tornadoes around the area, but I didn't hear of any specific damage attributed to them. There was plenty of damage due to straight-line winds. Our local airport clocked 66 mph. Many trees broken. About 25,000 people were without power. Luckily I was not one of them. After my fridge being gone for a week, I wouldn't have been happy about not having one again, even though the cause was different!

On to the next task. I hope you all have a pleasant evening!

Hey all,

Today is an off day. did 50 minutes of circuit training today. I just combined what I do on walking workouts with strength training. I am feeling the fibro fog lifting after exercising.

Berta= Good for you for not relying on the scale.

Letha- I am glad that things are more peaceful for you.

Hope you all are doing well

Just marking my spot and checking in.Not much going on in my world today. Trying to decide what to eat.It is 2:02 and I have not eaten yet.So starting to get a bit hungry . emoticon

I am getting excited about going to my DD this week-end.It's finally here!!! Sorta concerned about my eating as I know we will eat out at least twice. But I hope to make wise choices.

Still keeping track and not weighing every day .... Yeah for me LOL

I am making banana bread to take Friday and it sure smells good. I use whole white wheat flour and honey with a bit of light brown sugar and walnuts.

Then I am fixing a rice dish for our supper this evening. I love casseroles but it is hard to figure up the calories so I just try to eat like a half of a cup or so! Pork chops will go on top or maybe chicken breasts haven't really decided yet.

Well gotta run.GREAT BIG HUGS to everyone. Until next time! emoticon

Berta Ė Thanks for the welcome.

Judy Ė Watching great white pelicans against a full moon on the river sounds divine! Keep safe from them tornados.

Sandy Ė Iím impressed with your exercise dedication. Very inspiring.

KIMH51 Ė Thanks for the encouragement. I plan to keep after it.

Tammy Ė Iím a beginning artist and Iíve been taking online mixed media art classes which in my mind is kind of like finger painting for middle aged ladies. Silly stuff but itís a pleasant pastime for me. I use the ďAdd A New RecipeĒ feature on the spark recipes page. Itís a little quirky, but itís free so Iím more then getting my moneyís worth.

Dee Ė The Fitbit sounds cool. Iíll be interested to hear how you like it over the next few months.

Iím having a good day. My world is calm and peaceful today. Have my food planned out and input to the tracker. Did my 11 minute chair exercise video. Hope you all have a great Tuesday.

Good Tuesday Morning to all!

Tammy, I'm in NJ. We always go until the middle to end of June but don't go back until after Labor Day (Sept. 3) . I can't imagine working during the summer!

Kim, good job with all the walking!!

Sandy, 18 hours ...WOW! You need to relaxed & enjoyed watching tennis. I hope you enjoy your day off.

Judy, I have suffered with foot pain too. I hope the icing helped.

Berta, I'm glad your DH got you back online. I'm sure the weight will stabilize. Probably just water weight.

emoticon Letha. It sounds like you are on the right track. Thank you for the words of encouragement!

Well my husband , Chuck is having knee replacement surgery next Monday, July 1. Today we are going to see the surgeon one last time before surgery. Chuck went on his own when I was working. He tends not to ask questions, so I have a bunch of questions for the doctor.

I splurged and bought myself a Fit Bit yesterday. The only thing I have done consistently in the last year is wear my pedometer & track my steps. I've averaged about 7000 steps a day. The Fit Bit does so much more than just track steps. I am excited to learn how to use it effectively. It will sync directly with the Sparkpeople fitness tracker.
Well time to get moving! I won't get 10000 steps in sitting at the computer!

Abundant Blessings, Dee

Judy the most beautiful sky I think I have ever seen was camping, there were no other lights in the area and it was amazing how many stars there were, it jus took my breath away. I donít take enough time to enjoy those things, I should more often.
I bet you do have an interesting gait. I know the feeling, I am falling apart a bit at a time it seems. We have had storms all day today, my dogs are hiding under our feet when the thunder roars.

Sandy it sounds like you need a day of rest.

Kim thatís good to remember, we canít just jump in the deep end of this exercise thing we have to take small steps.

Thatís great your hubby fixed your computer Berta, I have become very dependent on mine. You just look sternly at that scale and show it who is boss!

Letha welcome if I havenít already said that. How do you do that with the recipes to figure out calories? What kind of art do you do? I say I paint but I think about it more than I actually do it.
Tomorrow is hopefully my chore day, I need to sweep and mop my kitchen and vacuum.

Dee where do you live? Did your school year just end, I have been off work for 3 weeks already, and I am loving it. I used to have a job where I had summers off, and I had forgotten how nice it is. It will be nice to have some time to develop some good habits over the summer
.
Well I am making more typos than I can keep up with , so thatís enough for me. Take care and have a good evening

Hi again everyone.. nice day here - temps in the high 80's - I think I saw 88 on my car's thermostat on my way home... a bit too warm/humid for me, but I'll take it just because its different!!!

Letha - oh I don't work out like that everyday!!! I started doing chair exercises over a year ago, leg lifts, arms with weights, a lot of time spent strengthening my "core", then walked just a few times up my street and down - less than 1/2 mile for a couple of weeks, then eventually worked my way to 1 mile, then 2 etc. now, a year and half almost - I'm able to do the 4 and 5 miles. I also have really good shoes and socks - the shoes were fitted by a store that watches you walk and then puts you in the correct shoe. I suffer from bursities in both my heels, very very painful., but I keep at them, rolling them on a nubby ball each night, stand on a step and stretch up and drop down.. if I don't do that I'm hobbling and in pain. I also am very fortunate to have a pool in my backyard that is only waist deep (people who owned our house had a daughter with spinal biffada (sp), and they had it installed as a therapy pool. I actually told my hubby I wasn't going in tonight as I can't get in and NOT swim or workout! LOL... I don't know how to just be still in it. My arms and legs really just need to rest today for sure.

So, keep going slowly and build up very slowly - its such a big change to your system that if you don't go slowly it will come back to bite you in the end.

Keep progressing, keep tracking and "we got this"!!!!

Raining again here in IA. I don't believe it, either, but we actually need it. No container watering, which is good since I have a sore toe that my podiatrist says is a joint/tendon issue (not fractured, thankfully). I have to wear a surgical shoe (had one.....check) and do ice massages for a week to see how things shape up. It's always something, isn't it? Now it's my toe on my left foot and my heel on my right. I have a very interesting gait!

Welcome, Letha! Good job on losing those pounds! I have also done the chair cardio workout, and it is challenging, especially trying to hold up legs and feet that seem to weight 1000 pounds each! ;) Balance is also important, and something I have to work on. I think it's a good, get-moving routine. Sorry to ready about your moon plans going awry! That sounded so fun!

Kathy, I feel the same as you about camping! LOL I imagine Gery's camper would be better than being on the ground, but I really prefer my bed! Hope you had a fun doggy day on Sunday!

Gery, we're sky-gazers, here, too. My husband and I got a long, terrific view of it on Friday night while attending a baseball game along the river. The river and moon together were terrific. Added to them were a steady stream over about 2 hours of Great White Pelicans flying over the river to the west (Mississippi flows east and west here). They migrate through here every year, and they are such beautiful birds. They looked great against the darkening sky. Last night it was cloudy and hazy here, so the moon wasn't very visible. Apparently, it was actually closest yesterday morning, at 7am (CDT), or so. The sky is very cool, though, and I love to just lean or lie back and watch for awhile to see the stars, meteorites, satellites,......

Etlnow, hope you had a good time at the shower you were going to. Sunday was a beautiful day for us; hope it was for you, too.

Deedaye, good luck with your new goals! I have been drinking 8 cups of water every day since I first joined SP and started using the site in January. However, I have had to alter my drinking since then. I made sure I got 8 cups of water, but I was also getting coffee and other beverages during the day. I was afloat, and started getting up every night to use the bathroom. That is counter-productive. So, now I have 2c with breakfast and 2 with lunch. The other 4 I know I will get with all the water and other beverages I drink. I can't imagine it is good for a person to get those 8c of nothing but water and all the other liquids one ingests during the day, only to interrupt one's sleep every night to get rid of all the excess liquid!

Berta, glad your hubby fixed your computer. We're so dependent on them now, aren't we? Keep going on that weight loss. Hopefully it will rub off on me. Since the fridge debacle, my weight loss has stagnated. I'll get it going again, though, but would like it to be NOW!

Really storming here now, and a supposed tornado to the southwest of us. My son called from his car to say he could see it in the distance. Scary. I hope you all have a good day!

DEEDAYE Ė Great energy and enthusiasm. I know you will meet your goals.

KIMH51 Ė Iím super impressed by the amount of exercise you do in one day. You are my new role model. Thanks for the welcome.

Iím having a good day. Iím inputting my food to the tracker in the morning and then adjusting if necessary during the day. So, for example, I had planned to eat a nectarine with dinner last night but it turned out the ones we had werenít ripe, so I deleted that and gave myself an extra fat free fig newton as an evening snack.
emoticon
I did my 11 minute chair exercise video for the third day in a row which Iím proud of. Not much else going on today. Saw a downy woodpecker in a pine tree out back which was super cool. I input a rice salad recipe to spark people to calculate the calories. Looked reasonable so I plan to make it tomorrow. A few household chores and working in my art journal. Life is good.

Hi Team,
I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I'm ready to put my summer plan into action. My eating has been out of control. My weight has just been creeping up higher & higher. By the end of the school year my clothes were all too tight. I would love them to be all too big by the end of summer! My goal is to focus on healthy habits. I've have been averaging about 7000 steps per day. My new goal is to kick it up a notch and try to get 10,000 steps in per day! I need to get my 8 cups of water in and stick to my eating plan.
I love the freedom summer affords me! Here's to summer emoticon

Hi everyone... I think I have finally stopped moving for the weekend! LOL, walked this morning with my friend, we did 3.72 miles - it was great - we haven't hooked up for 3 weeks, so we had a lot of catching up to do...lol. I was just glad her dog remembered me! what a nice welcome! That was this morning (7:30 start time)...lol then went to Walmart (of course) with the hubster around noon, then spent about 3 hours total in the pool... burned most of my weekly calories in just one day! I think I have about 165 left to burn from now til next Sunday... emoticon

Welcome to Letha - and ETL (not sure if I welcomed you before)... but welcome welcome...

How is everyone doing? Glad to see everyone is checking in and staying on track for the most part - and everyone's scales are intact (hammers put away), and fridges are in working order... what a saga, you poor thing with the fridge...

Well, gotta go throw a load of laundry in - running out of bras'!!! lol - working out so much the laundry is endless!!!

Enjoy your evening everyone.

Keep progressing, we got this!!!

Sandy Ė Thanks for the encouraging words.

ETLNOW Ė Yes, the 'Eat to Live' diet is very similar to the McDougall plan I'm following. Iím sure youíll have great success with it. I also like to sing loudly and off key.

Kathy & Cricket Ė Thanks for the welcome.

Iím having a good day although my plans to get up before dawn and watch the super-moon setting on the Pacific Ocean were spoiled by rain here on the Washington Coast. Maybe next year. Otherwise Iím having a good day. Drinking a green smoothie. Planning to make a low fat vegan Moroccan Stew for dinner. Did my exercise. Going to go out later to find some decals to discourage a crazy bird who is obsessed with my living room window.

In general, life is good. Hope you all are having a good weekend.

Happy Sunday Everyone! I 'm headed to a wedding shower in a few hours. It's a two hour drive that I'll make more enjoyable by listening to all my old mid 70's tunes and singing along loudly with no one to wince at my off key singing and it should be enough time to repeat 1000 times " the cake and nonplant food are not for me the cake and nonplant food are not for me the cake and nonplant food are not for me " ... wish me luck!

Cricket...Oh shoot, I missed the Super Moon last night. I'm glad you took the time to see it. I feel the same about the moon and the magic of seeing the same thing as a friend who might be separated by so many miles away. It's something special.

Hi everyone! I just sat here having the best laugh that I have had in a month reading all your posts! Thank you girls! I just hope my hammer threats keep that scale in line! Seems whenever I walk in the bathroom I hear this rattling sound. Hmmm....must be the scale shaking! LOL

Letha....Welcome! You are doing great so far! Congrats on the weight loss! You will find tracking will help a lot! It was a real eye opener for me! I watched that workout video and have been wanting to try it but keep forgetting about it. You just reminded me again so thank you! Keep up the good work. We are all here for you!

Dee...WELCOME BACK!!! Yay for summer! Yay for freedom! Yay for getting to do for you!!!! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!

Sandy....You are right...listen to your body and take a break. One thing I think we all are learning is to listen to our bodies more. Hope you get in a good day of relaxing and the aches go away!

Judy....YAY!!! The new fridge arrived!! No more coolers! It's a shame they gouged it but at least it is fixable! Isn't it funny how our bodies lose weight? I seriously looked down at my skinny feet and thought to myself "Really? Skinny feet?" LOL Check out the leggings, they also sell them in capri length that come about to the knee. I wear them instead of shorts. I am 5' 9" . So I think you would be okay with the regular length. The talls are long even on me. If you need the hammer to knock some of the "juice" out of that scale let me know!

Berta....Enjoy your Sunday! I hope your air conditioning in your car holds out! We had to have ours fixed in our Durango a few years back and it was expensive. But what would we do without it? I will keep my fingers crossed for you! And I will say a prayer that Monday's weigh in goes well!! Sure you don't want that hammer?? LOL

Tammy....I have offered Berta the hammer...anytime Berta...my scale is still shaking!! LOL I do hope your sister listens and does what she needs to do. Just keep after her. Does she have a computer? Maybe get her to join us? I am still fairly heavy from my knees to my waist. It really is kind of funny. I have these bony skinny ankles and feet, bony shoulders and then there's the middle! Someday they will all match! LOL Sooooo.....what kind of relish are you making??

Hi ETLNow.....Hope you had a great Saturday! Welcome again!

I went outside before and saw the SuperMoon! If it's not cloudy out by you go have a look. It is gorgeous! I love the sky. I can just sit for hours and look at the clouds, especially the white puffy ones. No matter where we all are in this world we all get to see and share the same moon! Have a fantastic Sunday!!!

Evening everyone! I just looked and sheesh - it's been 5 days since I made it here. I don't know where the time goes.. I come here and read the osts, then get busy, or distracted before I actually write anything..... must be that whole old age, blind, deaf, senile thing kicking in again, right? emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Judy - Glad that you didn't need to go camp out in Gery's trailer - camping is about as much fun as not having a working fridge! LOL I'm so glad that new your new one is here at last!

Sandy - You are always sooooo busy, it's no wonder your body is saying take it easy for a change! I'm glad that are taking some time to relax - you deserve it my friend!

Kim - Like someone else said, you and Sandy are just like the Energizer Bunny - you two never seem to stop! I don't know how you do it! Just the thought of walking that distance scares me, if for no other reason than I know there would be no bathrooms out on the roads....

Dee - Wonderful to see you again! My oldest DD is counting the minutes left - she has to go until Thursday afternoon before the kids are finished school for the summer and then she has to be in her classroom all day Friday ( it's a P. D. day for the teachers)

Letha - Welcome to the group! It's nice to make your acquaintance ! This a great bunch of caring, sharing, fun people who don't pass judgement no matter how much you feel you 'slip up'. We all know far too well just how hard this journey to a better, healthier lifestyle can be.

Berta - I bet your meal tasted wonderful, even if there ws a tiny little "oopsies" involved in the making of it! emoticon emoticon emoticon It's so nice to know that I am not the only one here who does stuff like that!!

Gery - It sounds like things are really getting back to normal for you now! 8 lbs gone again, that's great! Glad that you were able to put the hammer away! Your scale is probably pretty darn relieved to know that the hammer is gone, too! emoticon emoticon

The weather here is in the upper 80s, plus humidex readings which are apparently putting us up into the high 90s - low 100s.. Our poor ancient central A/C unit is working it's little heart out , that's for sure!

Tomoorow (Sunday) afternoon we're heading across town to meet up with one of my DD Meaganne's online Collie breeder friends from Florida who is Canada for the week, and will be in our city for the day before heading to Toronto for the rest of their visit. We had originally planned to take our 3 beasties for the ride, but with all this heat and humidity I think they'll be happier to just stay at home...

I hope I haven't missed anyone - sure didn't mean to leave anybody out!

Hugs to everyone!!

Hello Letha and everyone. Welcome!, Congrats on your weight loss. It's a great team, everyone has been very helpful and friendly. Here, I'm only two weeks a older than you. My story is similar to yours ,healthfully lost over 100 a few years ago with still a lot to go , and less than healthfully I managed to eat back about 60 over a few years.
I think our plans have some similarity, I'm doing Dr Furhman's ETL Six Week Plan. So, I'm hoping to see you around and I'm wishing us both good luck on this journey.

Hi all,

I was able to get 30 minutes of walking in this morning while shopping with mom. That is it for me for the day exercising. I had a wonderful dinner out with co worker and consumers at my CLA. I am presently relaxing and plan to relax when I get home. I try so hard to just relax but since I am eating healthier, I have boundless energy. Plan to see how I feel tomorrow to see if I can make church.

Letha- I have done this workout too and it does give you a great workout. Good job on your weight loss. welcome to the team

Hi all,
Newbie checking in here. Iím following the McDougall low fat vegan diet. Iíve been following it for several weeks and Iím down 7.8 pounds. Iíve lost over 100 pounds following this plan in the past but Iíve been off plan for nearly two years now and regained the weight. I decided to add a little portion control to maximize my results. Iím striving to do 1800 calories per day. Today is my second day of tracking. So far so good.

Today is my first day to attempt some exercise in several years. I did a Spark-people workout video called 11-Minute Chair Cardio Workout. It was harder than I expected it to be but I plan to keep after it.

I know there are vegetarian, vegan teams on Spark-people but Iíd prefer to hang out with people have a similarly long road to travel. Iíve got years of hard work in front of me and I know you folks understand what that means.

So, Iím generally a Chatty Cathy and I plan to check in here regularly. I look forward to getting to know you all.

emoticon Gery and Tammy, your good wishes for my new fridge were successful! It arrived yesterday at about 10 to 5. It took the 2 delivery guys about 50 minutes to "deliver" it. They managed to put a gouge in the front of the water/ice dispenser tray (in the door), but that was the least of my worries. A replacement will be ordered. We immediately got the stuff in the cooler and dorm fridge into the new one, which meant drying everything that was in the cooler. I am so sick of dealing with water everywhere due to the failed fridge!! I think there is still water in the bottom of the dorm fridge from defrosting when it was unplugged yesterday. I just can't face it yet! I am so happy to be back to 21st century refrigeration!

Tammy, you're so right about not having power! My mom was also without power for three days several years ago in the winter, and it was horrible for her. We were starting to really worry about the water pipes in the house when the power came back on. She stayed with us the last night, and had brought refrigerated items to our house. She was so happy when the power was back on and she could go home and get back to normal! BTW, how about shipping some of the relish out to all of us, hmm? emoticon emoticon

Gery, I laughed out loud when I read about losing weight in those critically important places of feet ankles and shoulders!! So funny! Not so much when you're wanting it gone so much from somewhere else. I will take a look at the leggings. Maybe I can live with them at home, and I know they're super comfortable.....at least, I think I can remember back that far! LOL How tall are you? I'm 5'6-1/2", so wonder whether I would need the tall or a regular length.

Deedaye, congrats on your first day of summer!

Sandy, yes, you should listen to your body and take care. I notice that when I do my free-weight exercises for 4 or 5 days in a row, or more, I just keep hurting and hurting. When I do them for 2-3 days in a row, and then take a day off, I feel so much better, and I know I am still getting great benefit from the exercises. I think I read somewhere, too, that doing the same exercises every day can be problematic. I hope you feel better.

Berta, I'm sorry, but I have to retract my invitation to come and use my scale, My middle son wondered if it might be the battery that was causing the scale not to work. I said, "highly unlikely since I just bought a new one and installed it, but by all means, bring another one home if you like." He did, and it worked. This morning I weighed myself, and it was up .5 pound since my last weigh-in. I'm wondering if the new battery, with all that "juice", you know, is making the thing give higher weight readings with all the new power! Maybe I need to borrow Gery's hammer!!

Now I'm going to get ready for a wonderful dinner out, courtesy of my mom, who is taking pity on us for having to live as we have the last week without a refrigerator! Now, with the new one here, it will be a pity and celebration dinner! I cannot wait! I am going to have a martini, too!

Have a terrific evening, everyone!

Hello Girls
Well yesterday was the first day of summer. Can hardly believe it! Now we will begin complaining about the heat LOL. it is in the 90's here. Suppose to be in the 3 digits by mid Summer emoticon I could not take it if it were not for air conditioning.

This next week end is my trip to see my DD and DG so I am excited.I jut pray our car air conditioner holds out.It has been acting a bit crazy latley.

I am making myself stay off the scales until Monday mornings from here on out.I did not weigh today emoticon .I do not want to take the hammer to them LOL.They weighed me in at the same as the Drs office, so I know they are right.I just ned to eat right and they will go down. No one or nothing to blame but me LOL

Tammy
I have all my weight around my middle. I have broad shoulders too. Alas ....I do think God has a sense of humor!!!

Geri
Congratulations on that loss that's awesome!!

Welcome back DEE emoticon

Sandy
YES it is good to listen to our bodies. We are the only one that understands it.

I hope everyone has a great week-end.I will be back on Monday with the results of my weigh in.Tommorrow is our eat out day so I think instead of having anything I want, I will try to eat better.I useally eat on Sundays as my Free day.(as I posted before not to pig out, but anything I want) SO I will try not to do that and eat healthy.I will try! No promises LOL

Until monday as usually.....
GREAT BIG HUGS to EVERYONE!

Sandy its good to slow down when your body is telling you to , I am always amazed at you and kim anyway, you to are like energizer bunnies. Take care of yourself.

How funny Cricket, you must have scared that scale, you better let Berta borrow the hammer, then she can show that scale who is boss. emoticon
I carry my weight all over and I have fat legs and ankles so I would look horrible in leggings, I wear pants with elastic waist anyway so for me its all good.
I know I keep hoping my sister will finally get the message.
I hope you all have a great day, I am going to go make some relish and can it.

Tammy....I am so sorry to hear that about your sister. The same thing happened to an Aunt of mine who was diabetic. Hopefully this will wake your sister up and she will do what she needs to do to get as healthy as she can and get on that list! I will keep her in my prayers. As well as you and sending you big big hugs.

Sandy.....I have no idea where you get all your energy from! Besides all the exercise and work you do and now a co-leader? Good job!

Kim.....Well 2 feet of jogging is better than I'd do!! My knees can't take the pounding. The "we'll work on that" would make me a little scared too! LOL Good luck!

Judy....Jim is definitely planning for the future! He has already promised me a dance at our reunion next June! YES! Gonna be tough for a while but things are looking up. You really should try leggings even if just when you are home. I carry pretty much all my weight in my tummy & thighs. When I lost the weight it first disappeared from my feet and ankles! Sure..right where nobody looks! UGH! Then my shoulders! So I have gotten 'skinny' (sort of) from my knees down and my waist up! Well except for the "girls". Hasn't hit them yet! LOL I order my leggings from Woman Within catalog. They are around $20. I have to get talls so I order from there. I wear my tops long and loose so my tummy is covered. Try it you may be pleasantly surprised! Okay....the question of the evening is.....DID YOU GET YOUR FRIDGE????? I hope so!!!!

Berta....Yes I too have done crazy things like that! You stand there thinking to yourself as the chicken broth goes in the sink...."Uh-oh....I wasn't supposed to do that!" LOL At least you had broth in the house to save the day! I think you have a scale like mine. It is playing mind games with us! The peanut butter cookies may have played a role in some water weight but I don't think 3 lbs worth! Just keep sticking to plan, it will disappear! And thank you..it is good to be back! Things are slowly getting back to normal!

So about 2 1/2 weeks ago I weighed myself only to find out that the 2 weeks of depressive stress "picking" had me up 10 lbs! This of course did not help my mood. With everything going on I just couldn't face getting on it till today. Now mind you I have a scale like Berta's. It is a mean bugger. So I have threatened it with a hammer!! i guess it worked because this morning I am DOWN 8 lbs !!!! So I was very happy to see that. And my scale is still intact! I put the hammer away...for now. emoticon emoticon
Everyone have a fantastic fabulous Saturday!!! Hugs to all !

Kim, good job on your walk, I know the feeling about running or anything like that, I tried pushups awhile ago and I think I sprained my forearms, they hurt like heck the next day and for about a week afterwards, I kind of jog a few seconds at a time while I dance but thatís as far as it goes for me. I was like that yesterday, I went crazy shopping.

It started out pretty nice this morning, I took my dogs for a walk, or should I say they took me for a walk, they wear me out. I f I took them more often they may not be as excited and hyper. But this afternoon the wind picked up and the clouds moved in, we have has some quite cool temps the last few days, its kind of nice. But next week its back to the 90ís.

Judy That is so hard when you lose something you take for granted, we lost power once for 3 days, I couldnít believe how many things were so much harder with no power. I hope your fridge makes it.

Berta take them to your neighbor or lock them up and have your husband take the key so you wonít keep getting on the scale if it causes you this much anxiety. I have to do that with sweets, I canít have them in sight or I eat them ALL. It depends on how many calories each cookie was but it was probably more like a 1 lb gain and like Judy said its probably water retention. Because you have to eat over 3000 calories to gain a lb. Ė what you burn off. I think thatís right. Just keep at it good or bad, at least you are seeing a pattern, eat cookies/ gain weight.
Have any of you ever done anything that makes you aggravated at yourself? Almost everyday.
That sounds good I have never boiled the noodles with the broth before.

Gery, your friend sounds like he has the right attitude. My triggers are the same especially stress.
My sisters kidneys have stopped working so now she is on dialysis for life of until she gets a transplant, but I donít think the Dr. will put her on a list until she starts taking care of her diabetes better.
I agree on both the lottery and being thinner.

Bjumping good job, doesnít it feel good to be able to do things that you havenít been able to do for awhile, just take it easy and donít overdo it.
have a good evening ladies, I am snacking my dinner, I did not feel like cooking so I am eating roasted kale and spinach and drinking a protein powder, fruit shake.

Hello all,

I have been busy with another team where they have made me a co leader. I will catch up on the post over the weekend. I am happy to say that I have lost 2 pounds this week. I also was able to wear a XL top for the first time in ages. It really made me proud. I was able to do 30 minutes of heavy cleaning today as well as walk for 20 minutes while out with clients.

things are busy but going well. I pray they are going well with all of you
