Kathy, OMG I will definitely say a prayer for her and her family! I cannot imagine going thru something like that. Our young people grown up way too fast nowadays and emotionally can't handle a lot of things they go thru. And you are right, in our day we did it face to face. Now it is bullying and harassing on the internet. Who knows what he said to people too to cause her to do this. I do hope they find her okay and can help her get thru this. Keep in touch.

There is a song on a show that my Grand Kids watch and I think it applies : "Keep trying, keep trying, don't give up, never give up" I intend to keep trying and I will never give up till I reach my goal!

I had a pretty good day today - finally made it out to my favourite garden center for the first time this spring - hopefully it will be nice enough tomorrow that I can get all my purchases into their appropriate pots..... Then DH, youngest offspring and I headed over to the oldest's house to babysit baby Emily while Mommy went shopping for some new clothing to wear when she takes the baby out to Vancouver Island in a couple of weeks to introduce her to 'Great Grandma' (DH's Mum). We all had a nice dinner there and had a couple of hours to enjoy the little one.

Got home to a phone message from a spark friend to check on our team thread for a post by one of our new members - it's a local team, so we've all gotten pretty close. Our new lady had posted that her 17 year old GD has gone missing, and left a suicidal note. The police are involved, of course, and it was just on the local 11 pm news that they are asking for the community to help in finding this young girl.

I can't imagine just how terrified the family must be. What an horrible thing to have to experience! Apparently this is a straight A student, a kid who has never been in, or caused any kind of trouble - BUT.... is struggling with the break-up of her first 'romance', that from the sound of it, was not handled well by the boyfriend.....

I will definitely be keeping Mai (sparker) and her family, especially young Holly in my thoughts and prayers. Somehow the pressures our young people face today seem so much worse than when I was a teenager. At least back then, people mostly 'broke up' in person, not on facebook, twitter, or by texting.....

Hello Ladies!!
Just wanted to drop in, you all sound wonderful! Hope your Holliday was great! Monday was beautiful and busy, I am getting back up to my pre-pneumonia state, still tire easily but have started to see some weight loss again although I am definately not up to my "goal", went for a walk with my daughter and our dogs they loved getting back into the groove, although my back side is pretty sore now, but I guess thats good as well, definately an area for an improvement!
Sorry to hear about relationship issues! I've been divorced for 18 years now, unfortunately that was the best thing I ever did although getting there was the hardest thing I ever done. It can be sooo emotionally taxing, mentally exhausting.. my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Best of luck for all of you. Have a great day!

Hiya team, just saying hello and hoping you are all well and happy. The weather here in Northern Ireland has been gorgeous, so sunny and bright. Its a bit cooler today but still lovely. Managing to stick more or less to my eating plan and going to go for a walk this evening whilst my daughter is at cadets. Hope the weather is good wherever you all are too, blessings - Dee. XX

Kathy, Seems as tho you are sharing in this lovely weather! We were in Pennsylvania over the weekend and Saturday we had severe thunderstorms with hail from 1pm till 7pm. One storm after another came thru! The humidity was horrible, and today was 90 degrees! I am so glad we have air conditioning in the trailer! Hopefully we will both get a break from this soon, I don't mind the warm but hate the humidity!
ChoosingLife, I hope you are feeling better about things. Relationship problems are the worst. I am glad that all of our posts were here when you needed the encouragement. We are always here if you need to talk.

Everyone else I hope you all had a great long weekend!

Choosinglife - I hope today was better for you! It's hard sometimes to accept that certain people are not the best ones for us to have in our lives, especially if it is someone for whom we love.

It's very hot and humid here right now, so hard to get out to do any much needed yard work, but I did get a little done earlier this evening. It looks as though Wednesday is going to be our first break in this weather. The local health unit issued both a heat and a smog alert this morning.....

Good evening everyone,

I've been having a tough weekend. Had a reality check about some relationships that I've been in denial about. Spent most of my non-work time being quiet and listening for guidance (when I wasn't sleeping that is).

Grateful I logged into our team page tonight. Seeing your movement has inspired me to go get on the treadmill and get my workout on today.

Have a great evening and a wonderful day tomorrow.

My Grandson graduated yesterday evening and by the time I got back home I was too tired to post on very much. I did get my workout in. My grandson called me tonight and asked how to get information on the college where I work. I told him how to get the information off of our website. I hope he follows through.

We had a holiday weekend last week, and used to have several of our good American friends join us for a "Collie Activity Weekend" every year for a long time. They always said that it was so nice to end up having not one, but two long weekends back to back. LOL Those were fun times!

To all of my American friends here, I wish you a truly wonderful, safe, healthy choices holiday weekend!

Everyone in the US, enjoy a wonderful long Memorial weekend. And remember, if you leave the heavy sauces and cheese off the grilled food, it is still fantastic fare from the grill! Enjoy all that fresh cooked fun outdoors that you can!

Thank you to all of our Service people, past and present!

Everyone else, have a great weekend anyway! Make your food and exercise fun!

P.S. Grillmaster at our house is DH - I just show up to eat, or maybe do a little prep work in the kitchen before it goes on the grill. Now, if the clean-up was just that easy . . .

Gery - you really were lucky!!! Hope you are feeling all the better by now!

Beulah - How very exciting for your family! Is he going to go on to post secondary education at all, or straight into the work force?

Our oldest GD starts high school in September, while our youngest GS is at the other end of the spectrum, starting junior kindergarten this fall. They grow so darn quickly, don't they!

This has been a more or less 'non- productive' week for me here. I've done a little outside work, a little lazing out on the deck, a bunch of reading - but not much else. I need to get myself back in the groove!

Thanks Kathy! A rickety old piece of my father-in-laws furniture gave way when I put my hand on it to steady myself bending down to pick up some stuff that had fallen behind it. Trying to get the room cleaned out. If I hadn't caught myself I would have landed on my side wedged between it and the wall. But I'm fine. Will live to renovate another day! LOL I am so sorry to hear poor Phoenix's plight. We had a dog who used to wedge herself behind the toilet and try to dig a hole in the tile floor! I used to sit in there with her on my lap and my hands over her poor ears! And I also sympathize with the 'tumbleweeds'. I had a Siberian Husky when I was in high school. Ugh. Their coats are so full and thick you could just pull handfuls out. But they are our babies! The weather here has been beautiful until today. Rain, rain, rain. Downpours. Glad all is well.

Poor Gery! Wow, you sound like you could have really been hurt badly! I'm so glad that nothing was broken or required stitching back together! Take the time to let yourself heal, before doing whatever crazy things you were doing when you fell!!!!!

It's Victoria Day weekend here, so fireworks have been going off all over the place since Friday, even though legally, you are only supposed to have them today. Since our Phoenix is terrified of them, and they can trigger a seizure if he gets too panicky, we've had all the windows closed up every evening, with the A/C running - helps to muffle the noise. The good thing is that this is the first time in almost 2 years that we haven't had to medicate him to get him through it! Next weekend, naturally all the American 'wannabees' in the neighbourhood will be setting off more fireworks.....

DD and I have been working at the gardens, but it's been pretty darn hot, and getting more humid too, so haven't accomplished as much as planned. She bathed all 3 dogs last weekend, which loosened up winter coats for the most part, so now I am living in my usual dust bowl with the added plus of "Ghost Collies' floating like tumbleweed everywhere. whoopee - just what I always wanted to have in the house! LOL

The weight is not going anywhere in a good direction around here - maybe if paid more attention to what I am doing, and got off my big old backside a little more often.........

Hope everyone is well, too!

Kathy

Hi everyone! Just checking in. Haven't heard from anybody in a while. Hope everyone is doing okay. We are still renovating. Working on the bathroom and what will be the playroom. Almost had a bad fall on Friday. But I managed to catch myself before I went all the way down and in doing so wrenched and twisted every inch of me! Spent the weekend moving very slowly but I am much better now except my right hand is still swollen. Weight is holding steady. Wish it would move downward! Anyway hope everyone is well! It's almost Memorial Weekend! Our first camping trip of the season! Yay!

Good morning everyone.... I hope that everyone is enjoying the merry month of May! I have found it interesting and wondered if I was doing anything wrong... If I go to my Sparkpoints page and click on reading a blog, etc. then I receive the points awarded, but even if I am just logged in and roaming through my teams reading blogs, or looking at pages and seeing how everyone is doing, then I don't seem to receive any points.

Thanks,
Lori

Happy Mothers Day everyone! Hope you received the love and appreciation you all desearved because you are all so Fabtabulous!! Congratulations on the weight I am hearing and seeing others loosing or have lost I love looking at the "tickers" to see how successful you all are so amazing!!
Feeling better after the pneumonia... still tired but actually think it will eventually get better, I have to relate with the inability to smell!! I had a brain tumor that was compressing my right optic nerve and had to be removed and all though I never suffered from the effects you did Lemon, I did have some visual loss and inability to smell with the occassional wondering what someones cooking as well Cricket. My daughter hit a skunk with my car one day ( couldnt smell it )and after about a week I thougth it was OK, my daughter climbed in and about gagged it was so strong... now I do know the smell lingers so I realize I went to work a little more aromatic than I planned.. never said anything to anyone but I did notice more of my office workers brought in scented sprays a little embarrassed about that but I had just laugh and laugh about it. other smells like cigarette smoke I can smell, I just never know what if anything I can smell, I take more showers because I never know... dont want to make that mistake!!! it hasnt affected my taste its doing great thus my weights as big as always, but i have been lucky to have nothing else affected, but I do understand the frustrations of the balance, and memory etc and my thoughts and prayers go to you Lemon and admire your courage as you face these difficulties! And welcome to Sparkpeople I havent been here very long but have had such support I love these people!!

congrates on all the work you ladies are doing have a fantastic Monday and week

Hi, all. What an inspiring chat, reading through all the recent posts. I have been on the road vacationing for most of the past month. Not good, in terms of my weight-loss goals. Not even good in terms of my general health, as I have had asthmatic bronchitis again, and am still coughing. This last leg of our trips was particularly difficult for me, and I got so homesick that we actually cam home a day early! But I've come back with a lot of ambition to get things accomplished around the house. Now to just plan my days so that they match my energy and stamina levels! My Mom says I tend to try to do too much at once. Sorry, rambling on....Have a great Monday, all!

Hugs,
Sheree

Kathy, Sounds like we both had a great day! Hubby & I spent the afternoon clearing out some furniture from what will be the new playroom. On top of renovating we are still clearing out all of his parent's belongings. I actually want to try to do 2 rooms at once this time. While I finish clearing out the playroom hubby has some plumbing work & spackling to do in the bathroom. Once that is done I can paint in there. Then the new floor & vanity can go in. While I am painting he can start spackling in the playroom, then we can paint in there. emoticon That is the plan anyway! LOL Have a great Monday!

My oldest DD ( and baby Emily too!) treated me and her younger sister to a lovely meal at a new restaurant here. My DIL was there as well with the 3 kidlets , but as usual my DS was working - he's in the restaurant business, so misses most of the holiday stuff and family get togethers. The younger son actually remembered to phone, and was cheerful and chatty, so we had a nice 'visit'. He lives in Minnesota, so usually only gets back to Canada around his birthday and Christmas. DH was sleeping as usual - he works nights.

What room are you guys working on now??

Kathy

Kathy your backyard sounds like mine with the birds! They are so much fun to watch! Hope you had a great Mother's Day! My grandchildren made my daughter & I breakfast with Grandpa! They were so proud! They even carried our plates to us at the table! Then I spent the day downstairs with hubby working on the renovation. Tired but got a lot accomplished! Have a great Monday!

Hello and Happy Mother's Day
My name is Robin and I just joined SparkPeople yesterday. I happened to be looking through the team page and I saw your achievements. And I was very encouraged by it. I use to think I was alone in my struggles with weight and would never e abe to do it. But today I feel different. I think I can make it. Than you. Robin

Meaganne (youngest offspring - still lives at home) and I got some work done out in the back yard today - weeding, raking etc.

Then she did some much needed grooming of the beasties, who are all in varying stages of shedding their winter coats... After she just tossed some brushfulls of doggie fur onto the grass, we both had a good chuckle at all the different birds who must have thought it was 'manna from heaven' because they came swooping down repeatedly to pick through the fur to get exactly the 'right' bit! We had Cardinals, Blue Jays, Morning Doves, and lots of different varieties of Sparrows too, come to check it all out. the best ones were the little Sparrows who mostly picked bunches to carry off that were as big as, or even bigger than themselves.

Tomorrow I am being treated to either lunch or an early dinner with my oldest DD and my DIL as well - they haven't decided which yet. It's my DD's first time as a Mommy herself, which makes it even more special! DH will be sleeping as usual - he works nights.....

Lemon, You are most welcome. Please don't ever feel you are isolated, as you are comfortable talking about it my ear is always open! I simply cannot imagine living thru what you went thru and are continuing to battle. The one thing I can relate to is the loss of smell. I have had so many severe sinus infections that my smeller is broken! I just came off 80,000 mg of antibiotic trying to get rid of this last one. It is weird I will be sitting in the living room and all of a sudden I swear I smell someone cooking chicken soup! But there is none! Then sometimes someone can burn the toast and I don't smell a thing! It has also slightly affected my taste. So you & I have one thing in common, we both have broken smellers! I hope this gave you a laugh. Keep in touch!

Lemon - 40 lbs gone! Well done, well done, WELL DONE indeed!!! That's a pretty big accomplishment! Thank you for sharing some of your story with us, it was very motivating to read! You must be a very strong person to have done so well after such devastating injury.

Berta - great to hear how you are doing, and especially that things are going so well for you now! You sound so happy, and proud of yourself! Way to go!!!

MissG - sometimes you just have to have a quiet day to regenerate enough to cope with the days ahead. Maybe your body was telling you to take it easy today, because you deserved to!

For all the Mothers out there, I hope you all have a truly wonderful day tomorrow! Enjoy yourselves!

Breakingout,
How very kind of you...thank you. However, it is I that is grateful that such a nice place as Spark exists, and there are such nice folks that populate these boards. Thank you for taking the time to send such a thoughtful note. It is a wonderful feeling to come home to such positive feedback!

Cricket,
Thank you so much for your very kind note. It was wonderful to find. I have shared very little about the TBI -- but as I continue to adapt to the changes, and find a relative peace with them, I think it is important to maybe talk a little bit more; people that may know or have suffered a brain injury themselves are often wrapped in feelings of isolation and stigma. Although I don't make the TBI the center of my life; since it has affected so many things, I am always conscious of it's presence. I find that family members often just don't know what to 'do" with a friend or relative that has suffered a brain injury.
Thank you for reaching out, for sending congrats and for encouraging me onward. It helps in so many ways !

Lemontwitter The biggest CONGRATULATIONS to you! I know what it is to reach those milestones but for you it is so much more special. Thank you for sharing such a personal part of your life. You are an inspiration for sure coming back from something so traumatic. I cannot imagine what it must have been and still is like to fight your way back from something so devastating. You should be soooo proud of yourself for what you have accomplished. Keep us up to date. We will continue to celebrate each milestone that you reach! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I just wanted to take a moment and share an important milestone that I have reached.
Today, I got on the scale and was happily suprised that I had reached my first big "chunk" of a weight loss goal -- 40 lbs gone! I am so pleased it isn't even funny.

Even more important to me is that I am now back at the weight I was when I suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury on July 2, 2009. The TBI has changed my life dramatically --I have no sense of smell, balance issues, much of my sense of taste has been changed or is gone completely. There have been huge challenges to overcome -- like....continuing to eat ice cream even though i cant taste it, because I was in denial over just how deeply the brain injury had affected me.

Today... I have cut out practically all sugar in my life (I found that for me, it is a direct link to depression), I exercise, I watch what I eat carefully, and I work daily on compensating for short term memory and long term memory loss. Today's milestone is more than just a scale victory for me; it is a declaration that such a devastating change in my life, did not get the best of me. (Believe me, there were times when I wondered if it was worth waking up each day.)

Never take for granted your small steps.....they all count. Do the best that you can every day, and learn from your mistakes.

On to the next 40 !!!!!!!

Live each day in the moment...be awake and attentive to the gift of life.

Thanks Kathys You guys are so AWESOME, nice to be able to talk to you!!! Obviously I'm a little empatient I just dont want to fall back into my "well I cant do it this year" mode.. I guess just kind of afraid its been my routine before, and I know I've tried to just "DO IT" and its knocked me flat.. there is no choice I have to slow down still push but not injuring myself, I dont want to get sicker, but as long as I'm doing something and thanks to Crickets suggestion and yours of chair excercises my mind realizes I am NOT giving up, I am DOING, so I just have to focus on that.

Cricket your a sweetie thanks for applauding my efforts I'd give you a hug if I could I really (if I wasnt so winded =) ) needed that, I think the guilt thing came into play because my daughter was excercising with me then when I got sick she stopped completely and is having a hard time doing it since I've stopped, I felt responsible for her health, we've started talking about that and I think we are having a little co-dependance on this because I've been successful and she's having her own challenges so I guess since life happens were needing to regroup and try again, one step at a time.

Dave, my brother (who's name actually is Dave) had a Gastric bypass as well, he did FANTASTIC, I was hoping for one myself but my insurance doesnt cover it, I have seen A LOT of people revert back but my brother has NOT, and he's post surgery like 6-7 years just make sure you follow their restrictions on the liquids he had those little tiny 60 cc cups would drink/ and eat religously from them, he also would make sure he wouldnt go anywhere without a "rescue" food like almonds and such just incase he was not home because your food is so limited his blood sugar really dropped, be very concious of the requirement, take care of yourself, walk as much as you can after the surgery to get some energy, drink water.. religiously eat when your told if its every two hours and the amount make sure someone is there to help you. Good luck, let us know so we can see how your doing. Best of luck always

Welcome both of you to this really great group of caring, sharing people!

David, when is your surgery scheduled? You will have to keep ups posted on how you are managing!

Karen - I have had pneumonia myself, more than once, and it can take a long time to recover fully, especially if you push yourself too hard, too quickly. Listen to your body, and give your lungs the time they need to heal properly or you are likely to find yourself ill all over again!!! What about trying some Chair Exercises?

DD and I went to see The Avengers this afternoon after dropping DH off at work. It was full of action / violence - typical 'super hero' stuff..... and lots of great one liners too. All in all, we really enjoyed it, so will probably head up to see it again in the next few days - this time will include DH...it's right up his alley! LOL

Hope you are all having a great week!

Kathy

I knew you'd all help me see straight, thanks
B-jumpin4joy thanks... I know its not starting over exactly its just very hard to be so winded doing hardly anything but your right, I'll get there faster and I can look at it I am starting almost 20 pounds less.

Cricket.. thanks, I dont have to run out the door, I brought some resistance bands up thanks to your suggestion and am starting to just do what I can, I walked around the block, although I had to fight from getting upset that that was all I could do, I know its progress and I'm worth letting my body heal, because thats what its about, taking care of me right? and listening to myself and doing it for the right reason, I just have to remember that

Miss G, thanks for your concern, I have to remember he almost put me in the hospital, but he felt I could take care of myself enough to avoid that (with strict instructions) I did it, I'm back at work...(Very hard) but I'm doing it, I need to give myself a break, give myself credit and listen to my body, I dont know if even 2 months ago I would have been healthy enough to be home, one victory at a time...

Thanks everyone, I guess the key is do the best I can but listen to my body, start working back up as I can, I just felt like this could lead me to quiting again... I cant quit, I just cant!!! Thanks for helping me! your all amazing

MEOHMY11 My brother had pneumonia 2 years ago. He was hours away from dying. Spent a week in the hospital on a potent "cocktail" of antibiotics. Then 3 weeks recovering at home. Your body has gone through an ordeal. Just give yourself and your lungs time to heal and regain your strength. I know it's hard cause you want to get back in the game. Maybe just try while watching tv to do little things like leg lifts or arm raises. Just small seated exercise that at least you wlll get your muscles moving. Take your time, pneumonia is not a small thing to get over. Feel better!

Hi everyone,
Your weather sounds like Utah's our Motto is "if you dont like the weather wait 5 minutes!" I've been doing real good than got side swiped, I've been exercising watching calories etc. and then went in to work an extra shift, real rough day felt terrible, started coughing, fever and ended up with pneumonia... off work for a week, just barely didnt have to go in to the hospital, I thought I was getting healthier...whats with that??? Oh well, now I'm just really having a hard time getting my energy back up to just normal now, let alone so I can start exercising, its been such a blow any suggestions ladies cause, this has hit the "got get um' in the butt!!, my go get em's gone, and I get winded just getting up, I know I cant just jump right back because I'm not completely cleared medically (only been 8 days,) but I worked so hard to get where I am, or was, what can I do without getting sicker, but not loose what I worked so hard for, do I just take care of me and realize I'm going to have to start over?? Oh that just seems almost like failure....HELLLLLLLPPPPPPPP, I'm back at work but just staying a full day is very difficult... ugh emoticon

Berta, the news about your blood sugars is more exciting to me than the news about your weight, and the weight news is pretty darned exciting! Congratulations!

Cricket, we remodeled last year, and I am still in love with my new kitchen! And my lovely hardwood floors that were rescued from beneath awful carpeting. And all the bright colors we painted the rooms! Even contracting most of it out, it was a lot of work. I can hardly imagine doing it ourselves!!

It was just mostly overcast, with periods of light drizzle right up to some really heavy rain, and not as warm as it has been lately. Which of course all contributes to my joints aching like crazy, so I spent a nice quiet day, just mostly lazing around with a good book.

Gery - you and your hubby are either very, very talented and energetic, or..... just plain insane! Renovating 8 rooms! WOW WOW WOW You need to put up some before and after photos!!! I for one would love to see what you are doing!

It's so nice to see all the 'returnees' and newbies too stopping by to say hello, and catch us up on what's been happening in their lives!

MissG Today was weather crazy here too. It was so chilly this morning, then got up to 65, then back to chilly by dinner time, then rain, cold yuck rain!

Kathy Barbecued chicken is my favorite! LOL The den is the first of 8 rooms we are doing. So I have 7 more to go! Ahhhh! Next is what will be the playroom & finishing up the bathroom.

May has started out to be a good month for me. I guess all the calories I'm burning doing the renovating is starting to pay off. Another pound this morning. That's 5 lbs in 5 days! I just pray it continues, would be soooo nice! emoticon

It is nice to see so many new and returning faces! Welcome to all ! hope everyone has a happy Tuesday!

Today was weather whiplash. Thunderstorm this morning, then 80 degrees when I walked into the grocery store and 62 when I walked back out! Now it's raining again.

Haven't been on for a while, things have been going very well for me. Been trying to get more exercise but my foot has been bothering me. Hopefully with the nice weather I can get into the pool were it seems easier to exercise.

Hello all! I'm back....back in touch, back from vacation, back with a gain, but willing to get back on track. I squeaked by with my last blood tests, and DH's blood sugar was high this a.m., in spite of being on meds. Gotta get back in the groove. We've been eating like there's no tomorrow. Well, that can ensure that there WILL BE no tomorrow, if we continue. God bless, and I look forward to reconnecting with everyone here. Hugs,

Sheree (Mrs. Flowers)

Dee - good to see you again! Are you getting anxious for the school year to finish up so you can 'relax' over the summer holidays? How's your Dad's party coming along?

MissG - that was quite the bike ride!! Glad to hear that your weekend was a really good one!

Gery - Yuppers ! BBQ will be the thing for sure! hehehe This was just a cheap, smaller one that we picked up, but it worked really well - dinner was awesome! Glad to hear that you've got another room all finished! How many more are you going to do before calling it a completed reno?

Hi, all. Back after a busy, fun weekend. I only got a short walk yesterday, but made up for it today with a 32-mile bike ride.

Sorry I haven't been posting. Work and home have been kept me busy. When I am not posting, I am not eating right either! I need to put in my Spark time or I get way of track! I'm glad to be here and hope everyone has a great day!

Beulah, I'm sorry that you are still not feeling so great, and hope the new meds will do the job quickly!!

We had to replace our old BBQ - it was getting really dangerous last year, so we haven't used it at all this spring - and just got a new one yesterday afternoon. I am sure looking forward to testing it out for dinner tonight! YUM!

Kathy Thanks I will be sure and read the blog. I am glad things are looking better for Arwen. Spent the day running back & forth to Home Depot for things for the renovation. Got a few more things done. It finally got a little warmer here! And the scale moved down 3 lbs this week. So far May is starting out to be pretty good, just hope it keeps up! Happy Sunday tomorrow!

MissG LOL! Yes toddlers can get quite squirmy! Especially when they are giggling so hard! Glad the scale is moving for you! You seem to go through the same thing I do that it gets stuck for a bit. I guess my grumping got it moving for me too! 3 lbs this week so far! Guess all the renovating work is starting to pay off! Hopefully it will keep moving downward for both of us! Have a good week!

Berta, so glad to hear that you have found something that works for you! Sounds like you are enjoying the program which really helps a lot, I think, because if you aren't enjoying what you are doing, then you tend to stop following it.

For me, what seems to work best, is the Weight Watchers program that I used when I first started this whole journey several years ago - or at least it would if I were better about using it on a regular basis..... I need to get back into the habit of doing so again!!!!!

Gery - you've been asking about Arwen. I have finally done a blog about the whole event if you are interested in all the details. Today things are looking so much better than the last couple of days that I'm optimistic about the final outcome again!

MissG - WOW I can't even imagine trying to use weights that heavy for exercising! Currently what I work with are only 3lbs each. Part of my problem stems from sore joints which make it difficult to hold things at times (like the steering wheel in the van), although I can carry a 30 lb bag of dog food when I have to - just not as easily as I used to when I was younger.

I so love this whole getting old with lots of different health issues thing --- aching body parts, creaking joints,, and the discovery that according to the offspring I am becoming blind, deaf, and senile too!

Cricket, unfortunately I'd need one of him for each hand, and two squirming toddlers seems a bit unwieldy for squats! LOL!

I've biked over 400 miles so far this year. Today is a rest day. The scale is finally moving again--I don't know how many times I have to relearn the lesson to feed myself often throughout the day! I just get sidetracked and forget to do it. Must make frequent small meals a priority.

Berta, I am so glad you found something that is working for you! Good job on bringing your own dinner. Who knows maybe at the next meeting they will remember what you brought and serve healthy food! You may have started something! Keep up the good work!

That is fantastic progress in such a short time, congratulations !!! I think it excellent that you brought your own food and remained in controll! Who knows...those good looking strawberries might encourage others to do the same, and adopt overall healthier eating habits.

You are a winner in my book! Continued success to you , keep us updated!!

Hi Again
Today I am happy to say I weigh 260.8. Hoping for 259 in the morning. It will be a new era. My first short term goal is 250.I have not been in the 50's in many, many years!

I started out on April 24th weighing 272.8 today I weighed 260.8.

I am proud of myself as we had a District Seniors meeting tonight to go to and they served supper. I didn't want to go off my plan so I took my own. I am so happy I did because they served hot rolls, chicken or pork covered in gravy, carrots and noodles emoticon
That is three carbs in one meal. Being diabetic that definetely wasn't good! Then they had either cake or pie. I had my fresh sliced strawberries.Everyone kept saying how good mine looked.I thought maybe I'd have to fight them for it!LOL

I am happy you are all doing good. Take care. I will check back in next week sometime!

Hi, everyone! I always forget the new month means a new chat!

Started May with a day of rest, but have worked out hard the last couple days. Tomorrow I must get in my bike ride in the morning because the heat has gotten intense--90 in the shade this afternoon!

For Mother's Day I have asked the kids to forgo flowers or candy and instead get me 30 and 35 pound dumbbells. The 25s are getting too light for some exercises!

It's a new month and I'm still moving in the right direction (generally), but at a snail's pace. I've been looking at my trackers and can see where I need to make corrections. I made a change in direction a while back and while that has become a good habit, other areas have been slipping. Now to re-align things, like sodium and fat numbers, and get the total intake IN range more often than it has been, then life will be even better.

Every step in the right direction is good, and when they all are in alignment, I will dance like a pro!

Have a joyful and productive May everyone! Your posts are always a bright spot in my day!

Good Morning all !

Got up and did three sets of Wii cardio exercise while the coffee was brewing....I'll try to get another routine in tonight after work.

Got Lunch all packed and ready to go ( fairly simple stuff, some sliced chicken..a couple of hard boiled eggs for my 'breakfast" at work), some non fat yogurt.

I love it when I can get some exercise in the morning..it seems to help me to feel in control all day!

How about the rest of you ? Happy May, everyone !

Glad to hear that you are finally feeling better Beulah!

Dee - have you had your Dad's big party yet? If so, how did everything go ?

Overcast, cold, rainy and miserable here today - 'bummer'! On the other hand, as a very big plus - the grass is really looking great!

Another big plus today, was that I found the absolutely perfect gift to give my oldest offspring for her very first Mother's Day ( it will be from the baby, naturally! LOL) - a lovely little hardcover book entitled "Why I Love My Mommy". I think she will be really thrilled with it.

Good Morning, team !!

Let's make this a really great month for encouraging each other ! We've got a "dress rehearsal" for May by saying goodbye to old habits and routines that don't serve us well today.

This morning, I brought my 2lb hand weights to the computer with me, and I did some arm curls while reading a couple of Spark articles -- a nice way to get in a little bit of strength trainng while sitting at the computer !! Anyone else out there use any sneaky ways to get in exercise ? Im tempted to take my hand weights with me to my office job, as I sit in front of a computer for far too long each day!

Hugs to all,

Lemon

Yay for May! The flowers are blooming and hopefully the weather will start staying warmer. Can't believe it's May already! emoticon

There is a song on a show that my Grand Kids watch and I think it applies : "Keep trying, keep trying, don't give up, never give up" I intend to keep trying and I will never give up till I reach my goal!

Nothing happens overnight. Remember one pound lost is one pound closer to your goal.

Get up every morning, take a deep breath & make it the best day that you possibly can.

With you all in spirit everyday.....Gery

Hard to believe that we're already at the start of another month, isn't it! How time flies when you are having fun! LOL
