Wow! I can't believe how low a price you guys are paying. Annual membership in Branson, MO is $351.00 in addition they want a one time sign up fee of $49.00! They do offer a 3month membership for $130. plus the $49. fee, so I think I will try that and see how I like it. They have an outdoor pool that if you want to use it you pay extra. Then there's the 23 mile one way drive that I will have, so three times a week is the most I will probably go.

I think, after the three month membership I will buy a couple of kettleballs and maybe some kind of stair-stepper and walk when I can. Hopefully I can get the lions share of weight that I need to lose during my 3 months gym membership. That's my goal and I'm sticken' to it! emoticon

Hi Everyone, I just renewed my Bally's membership in April 2012. Senior citizens pay $162 per year. My membership is good through out the United States and I have unlimited visits. I was paying $245 per year until I did some investigating. When you sign up for a membership, they won't tell you about the senior rates. You have to ask for them.
Here is to breaking a sweat! emoticon

I think I want to live where you all live. Our local community center is $30/month for use of the pool and fitness center. Plus a $50 membership fee. If you want to take classes or meet with a personal trainer, it's extra. There's a few fitness centers around and they are even more. The cost alone is a big reason why I exercise at home.

I pay $15 a month at my work for the gym. I mostly use the weights and machines. Walking on the treadmill is not as much fun as walking outside. I am thinking about looking for a gym closer to home.

Thanks for the heads up with medicare. Keep that gym info flowing. I pay $99. for the year, but I don't think I get my money's worth because I hate the gym an prefer to walk outside for my exercise. I will go to the gym like today when the temp is below zero with the windchill.

If you're a senior and on Medicare and have a supplemental plan, it's free at several gyms across the country, including the 3 gyms in my hometown. I can switch around if I get bored with just one place, or classes.

The first step in getting somewhere is by deciding not to stay where you're at.

When I was at Bally's it was $250 a year, but my job reinburses me $250 a year. But now that Bally's was bought out by LA Fitness I'm not sure what my membership will cost in July when I have to renew. In the meantime, I let my husband talk me into joining a gym around the corner, with free personal trainer once a month and RN who checks your weight, body fat, etc once a month for $40 a month. So I'm paying for convenience and extras. I'm excited about finally learning how to use all the machines!

Funny you should bring this up. I was just thinking about my gym, how often I go AND how crowded it is. It is a new Gold's gym. Membership is $255/yr. I go about 3 times a week. If I continue this pattern it is under two bucks per visit.

I almost feel guilty for saying this, but I can't wait for people to give up on going to the gym. It is ridiculous how packed it is. I wonder what the drop out rate is for people joining a gym? This gym has a double whammy for over population with it being new AND all the new year resolvers.

I have a family membership to the YMCA . It is 76.00 a month and I have had it for 3 years. I typically go 10 to 12 times a month and if they choose to go the membership covers my husband and 2 daughters.

The way I see it is we renew our gym memberships and then go sporadically throughout the year. With this discussion I'm going to track how much each visit to the gym is going to cost me. My annual membership for Planet Fitness is $100.00. I haven't been yet in 2012 but when I do the first visit will cost me $100 and then reduced every visit after that. I haven't been to the gym yet because it is filled with all the new years resolvers and they start to diminish 3 to 4 week in. When the weather turns and I'm unable to exercise outside I'll return to the gym.
