I was thinking John 12:15
12On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, 13Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. 14And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written, 15 "Fear not, daughter of Zion: behold, thy King cometh, sitting on an assís colt."

[Luk 19:41-44 KJV] 41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, 42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things [which belong] unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. 43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, 44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

In what year did this come to pass?

Yep. It's your turn. also interesting to see both the complete honestly in God's word and the message of grace conveyed by Jesus being descended from such a motley bunch. As you read down the list there are several you wouldnt be especially proud to call ancestors.

In Matthews genealogy there are several "scandalous" persons. Name 2 of them.

I realize I may not have been clear. I didn't mean in the lineage of Matthew, rather the lineage of Jesus provided by Matthew.

since you asked about "the churches" and not "the church" I am inclined to think you are talking about Rev. 1:20 the candlesticks are the 7 churches. But I'm thrown by the part "who represents the churches".. might need a hint

When Jesus returns, what is it he is coming to do? ( at least a couple possible answers, so just pick one and support it with scripture)

The question was "who" was the perfect man.
Answer:
Job 1
1There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.

Job 2: 3And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

Historical perspective.

This game started in Sept 2010 when I posted a challenge which I will insert at the end of this post. Several people participated early on but it eventually narrowed down to an ongoing challenge between me and Lindensgirl. It morphed into a challenge of song titles with numbers in the name and stayed there for probably a couple of years. Only recently did it become Bible trivia because we grew tired of the song titles challenge.

Here is the original word challenge that started this thread/discussion...

this test does not measure intelligence, your fluency with words and certainly not your math ability.

Each question contains the initials of words that will make it correct. They are common every day phrases that should be recognized by anyone.

Example: 16=O in a P
is answered by 16 Ounces in a Pound

1. 26=L of the A
2. 7=W of the A W
3. 1001= A N
4. 12= S of the Z
5. 54= C in a D (with the J)
6. 9=P in the S S
7. 88= P K
8. 13= S on the A F
9. 32= D at which W F
10. 18= H on a G C
11. 90= D in a R A
12. 200= D for P G in M
13. 8= S on a S S
14. 4= Q in a G
15. 3= B M (S H T R) (trust me, it's not crude)
16. 24= H in a D
17. 1= W on a U
18. 5= D in a Z C
19. 57= H V
20. 11= P on a F T
21. 1000= W that a P is W
22. 29= D in F in a L Y
23. 64= S on a C
24. 40= D and N of the G F

First to answer the question about pfp....
pfp means posting for points... when I (or lindensgirl) found ourselves having made the last post, having nothing new to add to the game, but needing the daily points for posting something, we would just Post For Points and wait until the other showed up to rejoin the game.

The last question I see posted, looking back, was the question I posed asking what was Elisha's first miracle?

I didn't see where you asked about perfect man... but
Eph 4 13 describes perfect man this way
Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

and James 3:2 this way
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

This is a "Word" challenge -- guessing stuff from the Bible.

PFP in real life stands for "picture for proof" --- like someone saying "I'm at Disneyland" and you don't believe them you say pfp.

I honestly don't know why they put that here --- that has been my silent question????

A little background on why I posed this question...

Abraham was a "friend of God", and at the oaks of Mamre God said, is not Abraham my friend, shall I not tell him what I am about to do" (destroy Sodom) Daniel was beloved and God gave Daniel the apocalyptic vision.

Jesus calls his disciples friends and tells them what he is about to do (go to the cross). John was the beloved disciple and to John was given the apocalyptic vision.

Matthias (the replacement for Judas)? Or do you mean from the original 12? I read one comment that James the son of Alphaeus was never heard from again

Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the grandson of Saul. When Saul died, Mephibosheth's nurse picked him up and ran -- but dropped him and broke his feet -- crippling him forever.
David brought him to his table and honored him.

There was no harm is asking the question. I hope I didn't come across as contentious. It's a very legitimate question and there are sincere Christians that hold different views.
