Cat, sorry about the deer using your vehicle to commit suicide!! They can be so fast, even when you know it's a possibility that they're around. It's your insurer quick too get things taken care of?

A truck nearly hit me this morning while out for my walk. I was in the crosswalk and, had I not been watchful, that next step would have gotten me hit. He looked a bit surprised-- duh, I was practically face to face with him. I'm infinitely grateful for the step I didn't take!!

We're could have some severe weather tonight. It comes with rain, which we can use, but I'm not a fan of the severe stuff.

Cat sorry to hear about your car, but it is great that you are okay. It is hard this time of year with deer coming out. We don't see that a lot but when I use to work I would see a deer crossing the road every now and then. It is hard. Things here are good, getting a lot done and having a wonderful time. It is a bit chilly today but should be a bit warmer tomorrow. Tomorrow is laundry and doing some other chores. I need to call and get someone to come upstairs to pick up some things we want to donate. I'm finally making it through this house. I hope I can find someone to come upstairs. Any one has ideas let me know.

Cat-so sorry about your "new" car. Thank God no one was injured.

We are having a nice sunny day with just enough breeze to keep the air moving. I have the doors and windows opened. So nice to air our the house.

You can get NU-SALT at Publix, Winn-Dixie, and Walmart. It's too strong of a taste for me, but Bob likes it. It does taste like salt but leaves a very strong after taste that took hours to go away ( for me). I much prefer MRS. DASH or just a little pepper and garlic powder.

You know our new used car my husband just got? A deer decided to commit suicide with it. Fortunately, it looks like only the driver's door needs to be replaced. We will see.

Not a good year for cars for us!

DH is not using salt either--just Mrs. Dash. I miss the salt on some things. I will have to get him to get nu-salt--never heard of it. He lost 17lbs. sadly, I haven't lost any.

Golfinmomma - It seems you and I have the same starting weight and the same goal. Don't be discouraged. It looks like you are doing great!!!! There are going to be times when the weight loss will slow down or stop. That's ok, it is not going up much and even if it does go up a little, you are still way ahead of where you were when you started.

That's awesome Healthier-Vicki! And as far as fluid is concerned, using very little or no salt will make a big difference. Especially in blood pressure as well.

Bob is coming around. As of this morning he's down 20 lbs, and he's getting used to eating the smaller sized meals. Getting the NU-SALT helped a lot. He really likes it ( I can't stomach it, I use Mrs. Dash on what I season for me ). And he's moving around a little more. He can't get over the fact that he's lost so much excess fluid in his feet, it's no longer a struggle to get his shoes on ( I have to put them on for him as he can't do it himself at this time).
And with me following the same plan, I'm down a full 10 lbs myself since the 13th.

Kay, I love to bake, and that's not changed through the years. People near and dear to me end up the recipients of my splurges. There have been times when I've spent time on the phone with a friend while I actually managed to get the batter into the oven. Fighting through the tough times helps make me stronger next time. When I have family/guests over and make dessert, know for sure the leftovers leave my house though!!

Thanks StBernard. I had no idea about salt and sea salt. But that is very interesting. This is one of the reasons why I ask a blessing over my food. Because I wonder at this point if sea salt will contain: lead, mercury, and arsenic in it because the fish and shell fish all have those minerals in them too.

I have had a sodium intolerance since I was 18 and I am now 72 so it isn't difficult for me...I don't cook with any salt...if baking I only use half the salt the recipe calls for...I use dry beans for bean soup or chili...also I buy frozen vegetables instead of canned ones because the frozen ones son't have salt in them...I don't use any packaged or pre made seasonings...I use cream soups very sparingly....also I have sea salt instead of regular sale since sea salt is potassium instead of sodium...I'm not meaning to criticize just offering suggestions and telling what has worked for me...Elsie

Slow and steady does it. Down another pound! It takes time and effort but so worth it. I've lost 29 pounds since April 15, 2014. This is with eating healthy, and walking daily to get in 10K steps.

So true regarding the sodium. It seems like what I like is always high in sodium, except for fresh veggies. I find I'm eating a lot of them for snacks.

He's doing better since the blow up. He just feels since he's in his 70's, his weight shouldn't matter. But if he wants to see his 80's then it matters a lot.

It is really hard to keep the sodium in check. I am over almost every day. Can't help it. Like you said you have to use what you have. All I can say is do the best you can, and leave it at that. Don't beat yourself up. Unless you buy all low sodium foods, it is next to impossible, especially if you have a low calorie intake. I am challenged daily.

It’s been a struggle the last few days to get the menu’s made up daily for the foods Bob can eat and not go over in calories and sodium, but tomorrow will be the only day in 8 where he’ll be going over a good bit in sodium. His calories will still be good though. I’m having to work with what I have on hand until the first of the month. It would be easier if he didn’t feel he had to have 3-4 snacks a day. He doesn’t understand that takes away from his main meal . But he’s done a lot better than I expected him to, even though he had a melt-down last night to the point where I felt like throwing my hands up in the air and telling him to figure it out himself. He doesn’t realize the stress this puts me under. But I talked it thru with him and he apoligized for being an ass.

I don't know how it works for anyone else, but for me, the only way to get "unstuck" when that pound starts talking back is to eat only whole foods ("clean" foods) for at least 3 days - no sugar, sauce etc.
I helps a little to walk more too.
Ain't easy is it??

I'm celebrating this morning. Down another 1-1/2 pounds, so a total of 6-1/2 in my "reboot" of about two weeks. It's encouraging to see that it DOES work. Yeah! Happy weekend, everyone!

Lost another 2, so I'm down a total of 5 pounds since my reboot. emoticon

I've been using the nutrition tracker daily, and have walked several times in the past week. I may have overdid the walking a bit, and my knees hurt some. I should have started off a bit slower! But at least the scale moved, so I'm happy! Good luck to all on the team!

Yeah! My scale has finally started moving down again. Have been trying to eat more "clean" and be more consistent on the exercise.

I'm learning that 1 lb at a time happens when I remember 1 step at a time! Began my walking program too hot and heavy instead of talking to my chiropractor first! It did kick start my weight loss though. But after two weeks of not being allowed to walk, I can finally walk again & this time I will remember to take the fitness slower so it can continue to move ahead! One step at a time + one pound at a time will = lasting weight loss for me this time. emoticon

Chilly today. Got together with others at church today and we made noodles for our up coming festival. I'm wearing a pair of jeans that I haven't worn in 2 years because I couldn't zip them up. emoticon

We have our first frost warning tonight! Yikes, I am not ready for this. I have discovered that after dropping 108 lbs. I am cold a lot easier! Need to find a winter coat soon!..

good morning.....

I'll bet you're glad to be home, Elsie.......I like to go, but coming home is better........4 isn't bad at all, especially if you're not able to keep track like you can at home......good for you.

Our temp was down to 35 degrees overnight....it's supposed to be a long cold winter.....I don't mind the cold, I just hope we don't get a lot of snow.
