No snow here a lot of sun but the temperature is only in the low 40's. We need a bit more warmth. Doing good in keeping my weight down, every now and then I'll put on a pound or two but then it is right back to working hard to take it off. I don't get as upset with myself as I did, because I know that this is part of the journey and also at my age it happens. I just keep a watch to what I eat but do not deny myself anything.

good morning....

I've got to get my car tuned up this morning. It runs pretty good for being 10 years old, but it starts a little sluggish, and it's never been tuned up so it's time.

Vicki, belated anniversary wishes. Glad you had a good day together.

I'm still at home because of freezing weather. Planning to leave Thursday am and get blood drawn on the way to the interstate highway. Trying to get it drawn locally just didn't work.

It was our 18th wedding anniversary. Thank you for the well wishes. It was a very nice day for us.

Didn't eat the best tonight but I had planned for it since it was a celebration. We ordered Pizza Hut Meat Lover's Pizza with half black olives ( for me ). We rarely order pizza so we both enjoyed it and I'll be super careful tomorrow what I eat. There is also cake tonight as well as a wine cooler for me ( I only drink one on my birthday, our anniversary, and New Year's Eve ). Neither of us drink other wise. But it's a way for me to celebrate a little more. Bob can't drink due to his heart condition but he'll usually take one swallow of my drink to celebrate with me.

Good morning! My name is Anne. I have been on Spark for a few years...the first year I did great, but unfortunately my life changed...I became an Empty Nester, my dh lost his job and has not been actively looking, I took on a 2nd part-time job to try to keep life afloat...so needless to say, I lost interest...though I did continue to post with one of the groups that I joined. I am now trying to regain my Spark. I joined a gym at the end of October...I think I've gone 6 times...I've allowed life, fatigue, and laziness get in the way. Yesterday, I restarted the Spark program information after going shopping on Saturday and seeing a beached whale in the mirror, lol! I received a number of nice Welcome to Spark from this group (which I joined quite a while ago, but was not really active on). Thank you! Thus, that is why I am here today. I hope to be able to at least pop on once a day to say "Hello!" and get to know some of you. I have not revamped my Spark page, but am sure that there is some information about me there.

I have limited computer access today so I thought I'd pop in to say 'Hi' and see how everyone's doing. I am trying to get things done around the house in preparation for my Mom possibly visiting. Keep working your programs and don't let small setbacks derail you. This was a tough week for me. Tracking my calories is absolutely critical for me. I'm about to go into a situation where dinner will probably mean eating out each day. I am really going to have to make wise choices and track whenever I can - restaurant portions are so large and high calorie so I must really watch it. I'm taking some of my standby items to help me stay on my program. I hope it goes okay.

Still taking awhile to get back in the swing - forgot to weigh myself this morning! So, tomorrow.

The good news is - I'm in line to get a new computer! So, hopefully, no more crashes!

I actually had a good walk yesterday on a hiking trail. It has been gorgeous!!

I have to laugh at myself; I was so hungry for a slice of "real" bread (I'm gluten-free), I bought a little loaf in the store. I popped a slice in the toaster which is next to the refrigerator, but I got impatient & tried to jiggle it up. Up it popped and right down behind the frig! So much for that! emoticon

We've had several days of absolutely marvelous weather except for the wind! I've still been able to get a lot done in the yard, but as always there's still lots more to be done. We had a brief period of hail a while ago but evidently parts of Wichita had golfball sized hail-- glad we managed to sidestep that one.

My heart goes out to those that were involved in the bus accident with the FedEx truck in California. Such a senseless accident.

According to Kelley's last doctor's visit my grandson has already figured out a way to put his foot in his mouth--the kicks to his mom and his heartbeat seem to be in the same area. By this time Wednesday I will be a happy grandma again. Kelley's mother is still not being very supportive but I guess there's not much we can do about that.

It's a beautiful day here in Northern Ohio. I lost 7# this week. Not sure what I did differently, except a little more exercise. I bought a "shake weight" last weekend and have used it several times. It really does a job on your upper body muscles. It only takes 6 minutes to do the complete workout.

I finally finished cleaning the inside of my jeep yesterday, then I took ran it through the car wash....it looks and smells like a new car!!!

I went on another 2 little walks yesterday so far so good, no problems with my tendonitis.

Hi everyone, just checking in. I went on an almost all vegetarian diet for 6 weeks and lost 30 pounds with no exercise at all. It was summer here (AZ) and to hot to walk. Just stayed inside and still lost it.

Try cutting all processed foods out of your diet for 2 weeks. I did it at 243 pounds and was down 10 pounds in 2 weeks. Then I went back to regular calorie control. I will do that for a month and then cut the processed foods again. It gives your body a jump start. When you go to the store, stay on the outside aisle all the way around, you will miss most of the processed foods that way!

It's not having what you want, it's wanting what you have!

Well, for the second time I have not lost a pound. Cardio 3 times a week and strenght training 3 times a week is not working.1200-1400 calories. I have not lost any inches either! I am going to try the plan in a book called The New Rules of Lifting for Women. It has me eatting more calories and lifting heavier weights. :-) Maybe that will work!

emoticon everyone! SW PA is finally entering spring. Can't wait to get the garden started. I am also guilty of weighing everyday, sometimes several times a day and have learned a lot about my body. At the top of my list is that my lowest weight is not first thing in the morning. I tend to retain water overnight, so now I weigh in before lunch. I'm also in the anti exercise group. My activity comes from things that need done around the house and yard. Right now that is walking the yard collecting the twigs from winter, later it will be the push mower and garden. My weight is staying the same but I'm so close to my goal and have come so far I know it will eventually happen. emoticon

Good morning to all. emoticon . Sounds like everyone is enjoying the spring like weather, I know I am. Worked outside yesterday putting on chair cushions and mowing my yard. Today I got on the scale and have reached a 10 lb. loss so far. Also purchased the activity tracker but do not have it hooked up to computer yet. Hang in there everyone and we will get to our goals one day at a time, one step at time and one pound at a time. emoticon Have a great week everyone.

good morning..

it was a beautiful day yesterday, a little windy, but still 82 degrees. I got my jeep out to clean the inside...I worked on it for over 2 hours, but my little car vacuum wasn't working very well. i'll finish it today, weather willing.

I agree. Even when the scale doesn't move, I feel changes in my body. That is a double edged sword. As I tone up, I carry the fat differently and sometimes it looks worse. I just have to be patient and remember I am overhauling my whole life, not dieting as I have in the past. I am truly amazed at all the different resources offered by Spark. I can address any aspect of my life, not just counting calories and planning meals. Friends and family, who don't know what's going on, are noticing all kinds of changes in me. That is my reward.

For me...I learned alot about my body by weighing each morning and recording the number. This was recommended to me by a young personal trainer, just out of school. (I say that because I too was taught to weigh once a week.) Here's what I can share from that experience...There were weeks with little change in the number on the scale, yet I would feel the change in my clothes. I put a bag next to the closet door, and if the item didn't fit properly it went in the bag. I didn't get caught up in the number because I can feel my body changing shape. For decades I was obessed with that "number", it defined who I was. Today it's just a tool to see how my body reacts to my life. Keep the faith!

It's all about the journey, NOT the destination.

Hi Allan:

I understand what you are talking about. After a broken ankle and a weight gain, I wasn't ready to start exercising right away. I could have begun in November at least a bit. Honestly, I did not want to miss out on Christmas so I told myself I will get back on the wagon in January. I thought about it all January. Finally, in Feb. this year, I was ready. You have to be ready. Ask yourself am I ready? If you are, then here are a couple of thoughts....

First, If you used to go zero times to the gym and now you go x2 a week, it will make a difference in time. Honestly. 28 days makes a habit.

Walking - you need to make it a game or something to look forward to. One way to do walking is to combine it with something you like to do. You can walk or march in place while watching tv. You can mall walk and reward yourself with a special coffee or tea. You can start walking for only ten minutes and gradually build it up. Do you talk on the phone, text or email a buddy daily - maybe he would go with you! Or is there something you can reward yourself with when you do what you know you should do. Make it fun and then maybe things will start to happen.

Allan, I think, we all hear you. Losing weight requires a lot from us. First, we have to get out of our the COMFORT ZONE where, we have lived for so long.

By incorporating changes one by one, weight loss will happen.

I have lost 80 lbs. thus far and as long as I stayed consistent, I lost consistently. There's just no other way to do it. Calories in calories out.

As far as exercise goes, I don't exercise.

It's something, I know.... full well that needs to change especially since, we are not getting any younger but I too am.......UNMOTIVATEABLE. when it comes to expending energy.........but I will try AGAIN to PUSH myself to get out there and walk frequently.

By the way Allan, you mentioned in another post that you lost 6lbs. recently.......a good sign of things to come.

UNMOTIVATEABLE. It's a new word I invented. How do u get motivated when "you don't want to be" so to speak.
I know I need to lose weight for my health, to enjoy life, family, grandkids and so on. BUT, I tell myself, I am happy the way I am. Oxymoron, isn't it? I joined a gym and only go maybe twice a week right now. I hate exercise. I know I should walk (easiest exercise there is) but I don't do it often.
I am in a pickle and can't get out of it. I could go on and on. I try to eat healthy but sooner or later as pounds come off I am going to have to do more.
I have not said a lot yet but I feel like I am rambling. I know I should do things but I don't.

Yes Debbie, the weather has been great so far this week. I even got out for a little 10 minute walk yesterday. Hopefully, I'll be able to get out this afternoon and do it again.

Allen, I'm guilty of weighing everyday too..It can be frustrating, especially if you know you've been sticking to your plan....but, I just don't pay too much attention to it except for on my weigh in day...One of my problems with it is that I weigh myself 3 times within a minute or so, and I get 3 different weights!!!...lol

Today was my weigh in day, and i stayed the same.....I'll take that.....

I know I shouldn't weigh myself everyday but I do first thing in the morning. If I gain, I look back at the day before and figure out if and how I can improve. I look at the past weeks gain or lose for the overall weight of the week. Since I have started SP, which is I think about a month and a half, I have lost 7 full pounds. This is a work in progress as you all know and am still "perfecting" things. I did buy a scale a couple weeks ago so I have the same scale to weigh in on all the time.

Rhonda, glad you got outside and are having some better weather. I've been rained on for almost a whole day, but I see sunshine and clearing to the west.

I'm going on a trip so I am prepared for some weight gain, but I want it to be minimal. We work so hard to get each one off, it's really tough mentally to gain.

I'm ashamed to admit that I GAINED one pound this week! I have been sick and am now getting back into the gym which is, in addition to better eating, helps me lose weight and inches. My motivation to getting in my daily steps is i'm walking my way from my door to my friends home (281 miles). My Fitbit does give me the mileage so it's an incentive to keep it going!

Been MIA for 2 weeks. No excuses. I have stuck with my plan, but the scale isn't showing it--turned down cookies, cake. I haven't pigged out and have been watching my portions. Need to do a bit more measuring. I am trying to get down to my lowest point and am determined. Went to a 4 day Symposium and gained 2lbs. Now 1 1/2 lbs down. I just need patience.

Busy week ahead. At least not boring.

I lost weight in the weigh in this week 3.4 lbs. however, it really is for two weeks since I was in dentist chair and away from work where I get weighed in. That's great! I lost another 3# this past week. It seems like just when I think what's the use I loose another pound or two. Today our relay for life team had a potluck and OMG! the desserts were fabulous. But I reminded myself that they all tasted like K-Lyte and didn't have any.
