Dawn. you are doing great. Keep up the good work. I seem to be at a up/down pattern right now. Not sure what my body is doing but I hope soon it will just go down and stay down for a while. I really want to lose 26 pounds by the middle of May but what I wish and what my body does may be two different things lol

Della, I am glad you are feeling a little better. When I am sick I have diet ginger ale and...just like you...still that canned soup! I need to rethink as well it seems! Sometimes the sugar free Jello will stay down and that helps too.

I'm still on track and the pounds are slipping off my frame. A good week.

Made it back to work today. I took it a little slower and let the kids in my groups know that I was still not up to par and they seemed to understand. It was a beautiful afternoon and evening. Had the door open for fresh air so that was really nice and a beautiful sunset was enjoyed also. So since today was the first day of the rest of my life I would say it was a good one!

Went to work but came back home after about an hour. A real bad headache and up set stomach. I went to the store and got 7-up and chicken noodle soup had that for lunch then put the numbers in and I went way over on my sodium!! I have not had can soup since I started this path and did not even stop to think about the sodium. It has just always been something I would have when sick. Need to rethink that next time. Also the 7-up really helped but empty calories so either no more getting sick or make a better plan for comfort food.
What do the rest of you have when sick?
I am feeling a little better as all I have done is go to the bathroom and sleep lol I hope I can make it tomorrow.

Hi everyone. I hope you all are having or had a great Spark day. Today was not a too bad day for me. I did get two hours of exercising done (water aerobics and line dancing). My food choices were alright. I did not post because I did not measure and weight. I did have a salad and some fruit. I am trying.

NYMEA59, do not give up. Just get back up and try another hour or day. I used to feel the same way, but I have made up in my mind that I will get this healthy thing right and forever, but I am doing it one minute at a time. When I am good, I am good and when I go in another direction I try to get a handle on it. Keep coming here to SP because there is always someone to encourage you and keep you pushing on. We can do this and we can do this together.

Ok not the best week when it comes to my weight. I gained for my birthday and I did get part of it off but not all and I did not make my "one pound a week" off. But this is a new day, and a new week and I plan on getting the rest of birthday week gain off and my pound a week off. So easy does it today while watching the game. I will do this I never want to gain again! It is much harder to take it off then put it on! Thank you all for your encouragement!

Question if I may...in the nutrition tracker I am to have between 2 units measured in the 1000's. However, the results for "Potassium K" consumption get recorded at times in excess of 1 million units/day. Any ideas on what is up with that?

NYMEA59.. Don't give up! I have had weeks where I have not loss a pound, a few with only ounces loss, and like this week a slight gain But my body is showing that things are changing and I can see the changes in my clothes. Then the changes slow down and I will start dropping pounds again. You need to just hang in there post on here and read how other people are struggling right along with you and know that we are all in the same boat!
I pray that each of us just zone in on your bodies and know that every little change is one step closer to a big change.
To gather we can do it!

It's been a hard 24 hours. I have been very close to chucking it all in and saying to hell with dieting, I can't do it. Fortunately there is one little part of my mind that keeps whispering hang on, keep going and things will look better in a day or two. So I am hanging on to that for now and praying the change happens soon.

Della - Belated emoticon - I haven't read this thread (obviously) for a few days! I think on your birthday you should allow yourself to indulge a little. Getting back on track the next day is the key of course! Good luck. My problem is usually that there is cake still hanging around and I'll be helping to eat it until it is gone! My 94 year old mother always says that "age is just a number" so embrace your new "number". I'm only a couple of years behind you (later this year) and I can't say that I feel old although my body sometimes likes to argue with me about that! emoticon

Bluiz - I too don't have the money for a gym membership and when I did have one in the past, I didn't always make use of it past the first year. I also live where is is cold and snowy - although not so much this winter. I am fortunate to have a treadmill and stationary bike. The treadmill has been getting a workout for the past month since I got myself back on track and one of these days I'll maybe try out the bike again. However exercise can be as simple as putting on some music and just dancing around or trying some aerobic moves. There are also many exercise videos on this site (varying lengths) so check them out. I did a power walking video this morning which required no equipment and not too much space.
Good luck on your journey to a new you.

Dawn emoticon on your weight loss. Eventually it does slow down and sometimes even stop (temporarily) which can be really frustrating. We just have to keep plugging away and look for other benefits that we're getting from our healthier lifestyle like (looser clothing/more energy. BTW weighing yourself more than once a day really isn't necessary as your weight will fluctuate during the day and you might feel you are not staying on track if your weight is higher later in the day. I was always told that your true weight is first thing in the morning so I weigh myself before I get dressed or consume anything including my big glass of warm lemon water.

My scales were down just under a lb (.8) today for the first time in a week but that's OK. My January loss was 8 lb so I was happy with that.

Carrie 310....I glad that you made it back. Just take it one day at a time and don't over do. Prayers for you to get back on your path.
Today is my birthday. I am now what I use to think was an "OLD LADY" lol lol But for some reason I don't feel old lol I have had a great day but, oh I am so far off track!! I will be back on tomorrow and I pray I will lose anything gained plus my one pound by Sunday. I went and got my free coffee from Dutch Bros for breakfast then a co-worker got me a breakfast burrito for lunch then I got home and my girls had a cake ( no frosting ) but a lot of candles lol just a bite of that then opened up my gifts and then they took me to Outback for a steak dinner! I had one mixed drink, some blooming onions and then a sweet potato,some rice and a steak. Which I still have, rice,onions,and steak left over for tomorrow. Oh yes then the resturant brought me oreo ice cream.. we all three had some and still left half uneaten! Oh I feel like I will bust!
But as I said tomorrow will be back on track!

Hi everyone. I am glad to be back. I had a serious illness that left me not feeling like doing anything. However, I knew I had to do something after almost 3 months of doing nothing, so here I am back at SP. I may go away, but I never stay away. So, my motto is the same, "I will not give up."

Too bad one pound at a time wasn't everyday. Wow, in just 55 days I'd be at goal. But it isn't that easy so I like focusing on one pound at a time than 55 lbs to go. Its not as overwhelming.

Haven't been on for awhile. Had a scare last Thursday. I was at church cooking for our community meal, when I got real lightheaded. It didn't go away and they called EMS. I ended up in the ER. Thankfully it was a bladder infection, I didn't even know I had. So I'm back chugging along. Oh! I lost those 2# I put on.

This week's pound has gone and I feel good. One of the best things about doing it slow and steady is my blood sugars are more even which makes it easierr for me to stay on track.

My name is Audrey. I am the caretaker of my 89 year old mother. This is why I am trying to get healthy . I lost my husband a year and a half ago. Things just fell apart. I am trying really hard to pull my self back to reality. I also have a son that is a quad that is bed ridden. I am also his caretaker. It's really stressful and a lot of emotions. But I am strong. I will do this. I weighted in at 174 on Jan 26.

Yes Della......I get them bad after several days of cloudy dreary times........thankfully today was a beautiful sunny day that got into the 70's...I was outside several different times.....took some totes out to the shed, took Daisy for a walk, and filled the bird feeders...storm coming in next week......UGH!!!

I hope that everyone is having a great Friday! I think this gray weather is starting to pull me down. I need encouragement and I want to encourage each of you to keep up your hard work each and every day. Hold your head high, get out for a little fresh air, find something fun you love to do and find time to do it! Tomorrow I need to groc shop and the rest of the day will be spent in my craft room working on cards or I might print a few pictures off and scrap them. I hope this will give me a little pick up and back on track.
How about you? Any one else feeling the winter blues and having a hard time keeping on track?
Maybe it's that in 5 days I will turn 65 and I am just realizing I am old! lol

I weigh myself every morning..just a thing I enjoy doing as it helps me stay on track. This has been one of those up and then down and up then down weeks. I just keep plugging along and pray that by Sunday will be a down day by 1 or 1.5 pounds off. My next goal is 26 pounds so I really need to get this up-down-down-up pattern under control.
I've had a real hard week at work but I now have a 3 day weekend so I hope I can relax and not let food take over.

NYMea: I agree with your thought. The most difficult part is the battle in our heads.

Sue: Thank you! Today is day 4. Made it through another day on track and the scale dropped 1.4 pounds. I need to remember I'm reaching that point where my body will not drop a pound overnight, though. Bodies are like that. And that's the day I will need to press on with the faith that I'm doing the right thing and it WILL make a difference.

I do not own a scale. I go to my Dr office on Mondays and weigh. It is free for me to do this and I don't drive myself crazy weighing myself 20 times a day!!

@Nymea - Thanks. I do try to look at the overall picture and so far I have lost 7 lbs since i came back on January 4th - so close to 2 lb a week which i know is good progress. I have been weighing myself daily for some time so it is part o mt morning routine. I'm not sure I'd be patient enough for just a weekly weigh-in although I know that is recommended. Staying the course as you are doing, is what will work in the long run. emoticon

Waiting until next week's weigh in is hard when I want to see results every day from my efforts. So each day in-between I am just keeping my head down and doing what I need to and focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel.

Some days are easier than others and there are some days I don't want to go near the scales because I am afraid that if they don't show a shift I will get frustrated and give up.

I think the hardest part about all of this is the battle that goes on inside my head.

I have a mark on my scales so I make sure my feet are there and then I always stand the same way ..looking down at the weight area that way I feel it will measure me the same way each morning.I also weigh the same time. I get up go to the bathroom,go in take off my night gown then get weighed, then on to devotions and then checking in here and then walking time, and off to work. Not sure that would work for others but it seems to work for me .

Does anyone have difficulty weighing themselves?
I find leaning forward on the scales increases my weight up to 5kg.
I usually just take the top weight I can achieve any day.

Remember that when you begin to tighten up that your weight may go up for a week or 2 because muscle weighs more that fat. This will begin to drop off quickly as your body tones down....Elsie

Today is a day of keeping on keeping on. I know I need to wait a week to weigh myself again but it is tempting to peek at how I am doing. The trouble is I know that if I don't see a change in the right direction it will be disheartening.

@ Retiredsue ...

It is disheartening when you don't lose weight or go backwards in a week. Especially when you know you have done exactly the same things as the weeks before. I usually try and focus on the overall loss when this happens and for you the overall is 2 pounds a week :) so you are still ahead. Well done for keeping going :)

I was happy to see that 1.8 pounds had disappeared on Saturday but NOT impressed when one pound reappeared the next day (yesterday). It didn't disappear today either. That leaves last week's loss at .8 pounds but I am down 5-6 pounds since I returned to the site 3 weeks ago.

Oh well I'll just have to emoticon SIGH!

One pound at a time sounds like a place I want to be. It is too hard to focus on losing 80+ pounds. It becomes overwhelming but focusing on losing just one pound is much easier. now I need to get into the mindset of focusing on the next pound when I have lost one.
