Hi everyone. Della I am feeling you about the eating thing. I just seem like I cannot get myself together with the things I eat. I am supposed to be doing the Daniel Fast (fruits, veggies, nuts, and no diary). I am doing my best. I pray tomorrow will be better. I would love to eat only veggies and fruits. I just love meat and fish. I only want my fish fried. I am making an effort to bake it though.

Tomorrow is another day. I will not beat myself up about today.

No excuses!!!! I just out and out ate to much this week. I need to get out of this pit and back to eating for my health and let the day to day stuff slide off my back and not let it take over my emotions and my actions. I hit my all time high yesterday and it scared me so I buckled down yesterday and I did lose a pound this morning so I know I can do it!

Today has been a so-so day. I hit a little above my goal but not to bad for it bring birthday treat day at work. They treated us with yumm bowls. mmm mmm good.

We can all do this one day at a time,one pound at a time. Don't worry about what we did wrong yesterday or what can I do tomorrow ,we just need to focus on today,on each meal and to do the best that we can. Yes, we will mess up from time to time but if we just let it go and take care of today we can correct those mess up's. Here's to a great Wednesday for one and all. emoticon

Well you 2 are way ahead of me....I'm at about 245 (haven't weighed in 2 weeks). We were unable to have a TOPS meeting last week due to our meeting place being taken away from us. We have to find a new place to meet so I am guessing at my weight. We will meet this Thursday at the co-leader's house to discuss our options.

In 2004 I weighed 300 so I have kept 60 pounds off all this time now it's time to get with the program and get more off.

My goal will be 1.5 pounds a week. That will put me into onderland at the end of the challenge. Oh I so want this to happen!
I now see what happens when you let stress eating take over. It is hard to get back on track and to get rid of the extra pounds you put on. I went up to 224,7 this past week and did get it back down up still up from last week. A month into this challenge and I have lost .4 put at least it is down some and I hope to be in better mind set this next week and that I will start to see the pounds go down. THIS IS THE FIRST DAY OF THE REST OF MY LIFE! Time to take that big step of being in control and not letting stress be in control!

Friday got me started on a fun filled weekend! My daughter and I went to BINGO night where I work last night and my daughter won a prize beach basket which was filled with fun stuff and then she won the last BINGO of the night which she ended up giving to her sister and friend. Two bracelet passes to a Country concerts. The daughter that won it does not like that kind of thing but she knows how much her sister loves it sooo all in all a good night.
Now today it's grocery shopping day, then we are shampooing our living room carpet. So moving furniture away and back and then I have an art project for work to get finished so it sounds like a busy/fun day.
It has not been a good week as far as losing weight. I got into a rut of stress eating and the stress won out. But it is not winning the whole battle! I am coming back strong !

Thanks for the rose and for the thumbs up. It was fun to hear and when ever I think about cheating I think back at how I felt when I heard her call me that! emoticon
I still am having a hard time not feeding my stress but that remark is helping me some. I hope that things will calm down before long but we don't know how long so I am working on my sayings...Take it one day at a time......one step at a time......this to shall pass....and This is the first day of the rest of my life and I will enjoy it to the fullest.

I just got caught up on all the post. Have been in a funk the last few days because of work. But I am working on not coming here and complaining. I want to be positive and I want to get to going back down again. Have been stuck here for to long! lol
I did have something happen Monday that has never happen to me my whole life! I went to an after work meeting and when I walked in a saw a lady I had not seen in over a year, She took one look at me and said called me a name I have never been called!! She called me a "Skinny mini"!!!!!! I about fell over and said thanks I am working on it and she goes you are really looking great and YOU are becoming skinny! This is from a woman that weighs maybe 100. lol I have never been called skinny much less skinny mini. I am far from being skinny but I must really be showing it as she has not seen me since I started this path. The meeting was a hard one but she made my day!
Hope each of you have a good week and I hope to get over this bump and start enjoying life once again. I've been playing those words over and over in my mind-skinny mini---skinny mini---

I FINALLY GOT TWO OF MY RE-GAINED POUNDS BACK OFF. BUT CONSIDERING HOW MUCH MANUAL LABOR I AM DOING, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TRIPLE THAT. MY ISSUE IS THAT I DON'T SLEEP AND THAT REALLY EFFECTS YOUR WEIGHT.

My husband made ribs Saturday for a work picnic, which was fine, except he left a few racks of them at home in the refrigerator. I had to smell them every time he or one of the kids took them out to eat some. I never realized how good BBQ ribs could smell, lol. Thankfully, they managed to finish them off yesterday without me touching a single one of them, yay! I love when I'm able to resist the temptation. I really needed to be strong because I had an awful week last week, with guests over from out of town and trips to Disneyland and out to eat. I gained two pounds, but thankfully, I was able to take them back off. I'm starting off fresh this week, no more looking back, I can do this!

God has blessed me, and I am forever thankful.

No weight loss this past week – in fact I gained 2 lbs. Not sure what’s going on. I certainly didn’t eat enough to add 2 # of fat (that would be 7,000 extra calories!). I have started some strength training with dumbbells 2x per week, maybe that has something to do with it.

On the up-side, I took my son to lunch at his favorite Mexican restaurant to celebrate his awesome report card. Waiting for our food, I checked-out other people, looking for someone about my size, to get an idea what people see when they look at me.

I noticed some people with their ample bottoms spilling over the sides of their chairs. Then I spotted a woman who was not quite so overweight and her bottom actually fit on the chair with no overflow. I thought that should be my next goal. So I reached down discretely to check how much of me had to go away before I could fit within the edges of the chair. I was surprised to discover I already fit! I guess all those squats and lunges are paying off.

Well, I did not see a final loss on the challenge but as I went through the week I went up to 223.5 so in a way I did have a loss as I got back down to 220. I am going to do my best this week not to let stress bring me down and bring my weight up. I want to break the 20's this week! I want to be in the teens and stay there and be able to work my way to the one's and then on to onederland!!! emoticon I just need to focus on me and what I am eating and why I am eating. I also find if I have a nap in the late afternoon/early evening, that this tends to quell any "munchies" that I would otherwise get.
We usually make it a rule not to buy any trigger foods and keep them at home.
That way we can eat sensibly most of the time.
It is usually far better value to buy a desired ingredient, eg a steak and have that rather than takeaway.
That way, you dont end up feeling deprived and because it requires special effort to buy and prepare, becomes an indulgent but occasional luxury item. Which is well appreciated at the time.

Although it's not always possible, I find the best thing to do when faced with temptation like that is to leave the area where the temptation is as quickly as possible, and stay away from it. Focus on something else so you're not thinking about it.

I made it to Friday afternoon!!! I was starting to think this work week would never end! Last weekend I hit my all time low weight and because I let stress get to me and I just ate myself through the week I have gone back up. Today we were given a table of sweets in support of what has been going on at my work and of course I ate. I did count it all and I kept in calorie range but not sodium! I really need to find a way to make myself say thank you but walk away with out my hands full. ANY IDEAS WELCOME!
Well, here's to a relaxing get things done weekend and maybe I will be able to get back down to my lowest once again and then on down.

i started my weight loss journey last week on my own at 236 and if my scale is right i am down 3 pounds. it is a battle of will. my goal is 5 lbs per month. i know it is a small goal but if it works

Really fighting not to just eat everything in sight. My mom passed away on this day 4 years ago and I have been sorting pictures so I can get my childhood and on pictures scrapbooked..so many memories have been flowing through my mind. I did eat a donut at craft day at the church but did not eat out. Came home and had my soup instead. So not a total loss in fact still in my range and I think I will end the day still in range!
Enjoy your day and remember this is the first day of the rest of your life! Make the most of it.

My Dr sent me to see the Cardio Dr. as she was not sure what she saw in the echo gram. He said everything looked great!! I do not need to go back for 2 years so that is a BIG plus. He said the value they replaced 11 years ago is doing great and no change, He said for me to keep doing what I have been doing ( losing weight and walking) and to keep having them do B/P and other blood test and that before long I might be able to cut down or stop some of my meds!!! Praise God for answered prayers!

OLDBEERMAN--I weigh every day just to keep myself on track and I know that the up and down is normal but I only post it once a week..every Sunday. That is the weight I base how my week went.
Your walking around the block is a great way to start. That is what I did when I started out and it really made a difference. When it got cold I stopped doing that and started walkling inside and keeping track of my steps and have slowly been increasing my daily goal. Now that the weather is getting nicer I will soon start walking out side once again. I am also looking into a deep water exercise class for the summer.

Oldbeerman - I only weigh myself once a week (same day, same time). You are right that weighing more often can be discouraging due to daily weight fluctuations, etc.

The thing that makes me accountable is tracking my food (and exercise). I never go over my allotted calories for the day (usually I'm under) If I account for every bit of food that goes in my mouth.

Thanks to all, I think I will start with walking. 1 time around my neighborhood is 1/4 of a mile.

I am curious as how many times a week most people weigh themselves.

I wonder if everyday makes you more accountable, or if the daily fluctuations will hurt motivation.

OLDBEERMAN--good luck with losing 2 pounds a week. Just don't get discouraged if you don't make it. I find when the weight loss slows down or stops my body seems to do some changing and I can see that I am getting smaller which to me is a big loss also.
My exercise is walking and doing a cardio walking /upper body video at least 3 times a week at this time.Iam looking into a deep water exercise class at the local pool once school is out.
We were in the 70's today and they say 80 tomorrow but we have a breeze that does not make it feel that warm. My favorite weather is between 70=75 I don't like the real hot weather.
Hope everyone is staying on plan and will enjoy Thursday.

i found that aiming for 1 kilogram per week led to inconsistent eating patterns and greater weight fluctuations.
now that i have settled on, up to 1 pound per week, it seems to be smoother going.

OLDBEERMAN- Welcome. You may be able to lose two pounds a week but don't be discouraged if it is less than that sometimes. Every pound you lose is going in the right direction. Good luck.

My favorite type of exercise is walking on a treadmill. I walk 5 days a week for one hour.

I have begun my weight-loss journey this week, and found encouragement here. I would like to loose more than 2 lbs a week, but I read that is average.

I would also like it to also be spring, as I have mentally checked out of winter!

I get more exercise when it's warm.

I agree. It is cold 22 degrees here! Too cold for springtime. At least the sun is out today and wind has stopped. Last night we lost power for three hours around dinner time so just had a salad with lots of grape tomatoes for dinner.

So tired of the cold. The predicted high temp for today is 45 degrees and its windy on top of it. I walk my dogs in the a.m., which will be before the temp reaches the predicted balmy 45 degrees. Not looking forward to it at all, but it must be done.

Rain and wind this morning but this afternoon the sun is shinning along with a cool wind.
Had my soup for lunch and will have it for dinner and I love it! I tried to figure out how much of each and how much broth. I had two cups for lunch and will have 2 for dinner along with saltless top crackers and I am still way low in sodium and calories. I also had my oatmeal for breakfast and fruit for my snacks. I hope this really kicks my weight loss in the butt!
I am also doing great on my miles today so we will see how my body reacts to this weeks plan.

60Survivor wanted to check in and tell you that your loss is perfectly normal. Don't get too stuck on those slow moving weeks. I should practice what I preach. I had an entire week of wobbling up and down 0.2 pounds. I got so discouraged. And then in the last 2 days, 1.8 pounds have slipped off the scale.

If we're doing the right things (and we are) and we keep doing the right things (let's do it together!) the scale WILL go down.

I'm totally here for you! We got this!

Page - Your soup does sound delicious. The only way I can figure that you can determine calories is by getting the calorie count for each component, like 2 Rutabagas, etc., and then dividing the total by the estimated number of servings. That should get you a ballpark number. Coming up with the nutrient breakdown would be a lot harder. Suffice to say that you have plenty of fiber and some protein from the beans.

I went grocery shopping today and came home and made a veggie soup. There is enough for lunch and dinner for a whole week maybe more. lol I can't seem to make a small batch of soup. I am not sure how to track it on here.I added one container of no salt added broth but there is about 3 time more water. I just wanted the taste. Navy beans,cabbage,2 rutabaga's baby carrots, cauliflower onion,just a little broc. peas, green beans,1 sweet potato and one can of no salt tomatoes corn. The veggies were all fresh except for the corn and it was frozen. Any idea what I would post for 1 1/2 c.? I am trying this as I will have my rainbow of veggies and it is low sodium as I used Mrs Dash for the seasoning. I thought this might help me break this rut I have been in. I get to eat it starting tomorrow was to late making it for today...Can't wait as it smells great!

Good afternoon, I've been real busy the past few weeks and haven't been writing. Survivor your going through a normal weight loss. Keep it up. I was off to such a fantastic start, losing 5 lbs the first week and 7.8 lbs the second week. This week, I've only lost 2 lbs and I'm trying not to be discouraged. I know that losing 2 lbs a week is par for the course, but I guess I expected more because of how things started off for me.

Just need to keep with the plan, be grateful that I lost 2 lbs. and not give up because of it.

My day started out good but went down hill from noon on. I got a call from one of my brothers at work so when I had my break I called him back to find out that my last living uncle had passed away in his sleep last night. That was very upsetting, but made it through my last group of kids and after school duties. Got home to pass the news on to my girls which was hard for me. Of course I grabbed a bagel with cream cheese and ate it right down instead of doing my exercise video. I will now do it, but to late for me to make up for that snack. I am at the top of my calories for today and went over on my 1,000mg of sodium by 500. Oh well I will push through the video and meet my step goal and do better tomorrow.

I am a slow learner. Pasta and pizza are trigger foods and I have the weight gain to prove it. Sigh

I was so happy as I got down into the 220's all week but then I made the wrong choices and had to much sodium at a birthday celebration and at a celebration of life. Will have lunch out today but will be more careful and I pray back down in the 220's or lower this week.
I hope that all of you are looking forward to a new week and a new life.
