Thanks Antekay for the advice about the dessert. However, I did buy some sugar cookies. Saw them and wanted them. They are in miniature size from the originals. I ate a few and then but them in the frig out of the way. I had fruit before I went to bed.

Roslyn, That's the way to success. One day at a time. And don't eat Cracker Barrel's Apple Dumpling dessert. I ordered one last week and thankfully ate only about a fourth of it. When I gat home I looked it up and just about had a heart attack. 3'229 calories per serving. I promptly threw the rest in the garbage. From now on no desserts except maybe fresh fruit unless I make it. Have a good night everyone. God Bless emoticon

Someone told me that she can be satisfied with three bites if she really, really tastes them. She let a jelly bean melt in her mouth while she was driving. It lasted 17 miles. She was satisfied with ONE jelly bean. I am afraid to try that. I am working on really, really enjoying the salad and half a cheese sandwich I have for lunch.

I finished the Today Show 10-day sugar detox yesterday. It was very difficult to go 10 days without
foods with added sugar or artificial sweetener but I did it! Foods tasted much sweeter naturally on the detox but it didn't stop me from feeling hungry. I hope I can now get back on track with the weight loss.

Hi Vicki,
Good morning! Thanks for all your encouraging messages in this forum. Like Carrie, sometimes I feel terrible about my choices. Then other days, like today!, I feel good about what's happening. It goes up & down.....pretty typical I guess.
One thing that helps me with nighttime eating (a real issue for me) is milk. If I have a glass of milk (1% Lactaid) in the evening I feel like I'm having a real treat. It's not many calories and is quite satisfying.
I'm losing weight much more slowly than I would like, but at least (finally) I'm doing something about it, and feeling better ... emoticon

Maybe you need to do what I've started doing and deciding what's more important/ losing the weight and feeling good about myself or a 5 minute pleasure that the food may or may not bring. I find if I give in to that weak moment then my whole day feels gone to pot. But if I resist then I feel on top of the world for doing what's right for me.

Hi everybody. I am not feeling my best. It has nothing to do with my health. It has to do with my attitude about me. I am so disgusted with myself. It seems like I just start and stop. The mornings may start out making good choices and by lunch time or dinner, the choices have gone to the gutter. I just want to do healthy and keep doing healthy. If I think about a food, I am going to get that food, no matter what. Then there goes the effort to be good. My exercising is not even happening this week. I start to feel like this and then I just want to quit. I know that a part of this is because I do not plan.

School is out and time to focus on me! I plan to track my food and get more exercise this summer to lose 1 pound at a time! I am hoping it will improve my health and make me feel better. Found out today the sale won't go on tomorrow but they will have it again Friday and Saturday.
So another weekend will be ruined thanks to them. We can't go anywhere because
people seem to think anything they want they can buy and if we aren't here and something of ours
is taken, that would really put Bob in the hospital. His heart just isn't strong enough for all
the stress we're dealing with right now.

We've had so much rain that everything is soggy and now comes the heat. Temp is 88 with a heat index at 96....very humid..

Getting ready for a family dinner so there will be from 15 to 18 people here this evening.

One of the hottest days we've had yet and the central air decides to quit, on a weekend even. I bought a window unit to use until I can get someone to look at it.

Vicki-----just check in when you can even if it's only to vent. We are here to listen.

I had such great plans to get out and weed my garden this morning. It wasn't supposed to rain till about 5 this evening. Woke up to dark cloudy skies and RAIN! My poor garden really needs my attention!, and I really need the exercise too. Maybe tomorrow I can get out there. I work an odd shift and don't get home till 7 pm during the week. Then I have to fix supper for my disabled mother and husband. Bu the time I am done with that it I too late to get out in the garden.

Sorry I've been MIA for awhile for the most part. A lot of stuff
has been going on here at home and it's had me really stressed out.
Since our landlord died we haven't known if we were going to still
have a place to live or not. His wife is selling everything she can to get
rid of everything. We've been told we would still have our house, but you
just never know what might happen. They're having a humongous yard sale
here all weekend to get rid of all the junk he had in the back garage. He had garages
full of stuff on all his properties as well as 2-3 storage units ( he was a hoarder),
so we've been woken each morning by 6am and the sale goes on til 5pm. There's
been very little consideration made towards us while this is going on. We've had to put
out signs to not block our driveway and even a sign on our new deck cause people were
trying to buy our smoker and grill right off our new porch deck. It's just been a huge issue.
And it's been so very hot here and tempers flare. Our mailbox got torn down accidently
by the city because the ones doing the yard sale had moved our trash can we had at the
road for pickup, and had put it next to our mailbox. The trash truck came and took
out the mailbox. The guy apoligized but the damage was done. I called the city
and they replaced the mailbox this morning. Much, much nicer than the one we had.
On top of it all, my eating has been out of whack because it's too hot to cook and I
just want to do finger foods, which isn't good. Bob just wants to eat junk so his stomach
keeps bothering him. He'll take something for it then reach for more junk food.
So it's not a good time right now.
I almost decided to leave spark people but I'm trying to hang in there. But if I'm
not posting regularly for a little while, you know the reason, so bear with me.

I am on day 4 of the 10-day sugar detox challenge from the Today show and feeling a lot better. I had put on about 20 pounds since my Dad was so sick and I hope this is going to get me back on track.

it's gonna be a hot one here today, I got out early and walked about a half mile, i'll do it again this evening.

Since my leg has been in a cast I haven't been able to weigh myself but finally since the doc put me in a boot yesterday I was able to weigh today. After 7 weeks I have lost 18 pounds. I was so happy. I've been careful about my eating because I couldn't really exercise as much as I was. I knew I wasn't really burning calories. I was losing inches and my arms and legs were looking much thinner but it's nothing like hopping on the scale and see it for sure.

I did the same thing but after a year and a half and regaining 15 pounds, I'm back and ready to get her done!

Hi El, the detox does allow any amount of fruit so if you can get the plain yogurt you can add fresh fruit to it and that may help.

Thinking about that too, Chris (the 10-day no sugar detox). But I think it will be very hard for me. Not that I'm downing candy bars or anything like that; but my low fat Greek yogurt (80 cal) has sugar I'm sure, or perhaps a sugar substitute.

Guess I need to find out how fanatical the detox is and if sugar substitutes are also eliminated.

I have put on a lot of weight since my dad got sick. This morning I saw an article online about a 10-day sugar detox that the Today show is having. I am hoping I can have the self-discipline to try that. I read about it on the xfinity.com website.

Finally! After a very long time of seeing the scale go in the wrong direction, I've finally seen it turn around. I've lost 3 pounds in the past week. The change is that I've found an exercise I really enjoy, dancing to YouTube videos. I'm having so much fun it doesn't seem like exercise. The song that got me hooked was Walk the Moon, Shut Up and Dance. It's addictive!
