I don't post here much but am doing the 1 lb. a week challenge. Except I don't weigh every week because I am doing the Whole30 program, and on it you only weigh once a month.

I post on Sparking Low Carb team page, because I am doing low carbs, in addition to Whole30.

I get to weigh this weekend and see how I'm doing.

One thing is for sure, my blood sugar has really come down this month. My FBS was running about 135, and now it is running about 103.

It's a miracle.

I did something today I wouldn't normally do. I bought a bag of mini pretzels. I'm trying to watch the sodium but every once in awhile I want a crunchy snack that isn't a veggie. So I got the lesser of two evils ( pretzels vs doritos).

good evening......

I'm sure glad I won't be waking up on the east coast tomorrow.....yikes!!!!!

i'll be heading to Belle Fourche, South Dakota on Wednesday, for a cousin's funeral. I've checked the weather, it's supposed to be pretty nice until Saturday...then it turns cold...I should be coming home by then.

Today was a rather cold gloomy day with a sprinkle of rain......looooooong day at church with a pot luck after morning service then the monthly business meeting...back again later for Bible study...

I finally broke through a plateau and lost a pound this week. Yay! I was stuck at 182 +/- 3 pounds for about 3 months. Hope this is the start of downward progress again.

Perrybabe, Congats on your weight loss. emoticon I too came to Sparks after my brother had lost almost 100# using Sparks. I first tried about 2 years ago but didn't really give it a chance. Well, I'm living proof of that! I've tried every diet and scheme out there. Two friends of mine (a married couple) introduced me to this website a few years ago. I had already lost 9 pounds when I came. I did it for awhile, but it didn't seem like it was working for me, and it was difficult at times when I didn't have access to a computer at work. That has changed as technology has improved. I came back 1 1/2 years ago when a visit to my practitioner was a wake-up call. I had already started exercising and implemented some of her suggestions. However, I felt like I needed the accountability. My friends have lost a lot of weight, and they often credit this website for their success, and they still track what they eat. They have helped me with motivation, recipes, and advice (solicited). In addition, they've shown me how to maneuver this website as well. As of today's weigh-in, I only have 1.8 pounds to go and I will have lost 100 pounds in 3 1/2 - 4 years. 83 of those 100 pounds have been lost in the past 1 1/2 years since coming back to SP. When people ask me how I've done it, I refer them here. Some have checked it out and even joined. If I can be an inspiration to others as my friends and husband have inspired me, then I'm thrilled. emoticon

tonight I am eating frosted mini wheats and here I am reading about all of you eating cereal as a snack.....lol.....I don't often eat cereal at night but for some reason it just sounded good tonight.

I was the best loser at TOPS again this week with a 2.4 pound loss...that makes 6 pounds since Christmas...the med change in December has sure made a difference..

Vicki switch to Cheerios or Rice Chex. Frosted Flakes have a lot of sugar. I have low fat yogurt with 2 Tablespoons of Granola as a bedtime snack several days a week. The other nights I have hummus and veggies. emoticon

Bob eats the cheerios too. I've been eating frosted flakes. My dad used to eat a bowl of cereal every night to help keep him "regular", and he never had a weight problem. But I gain weight at the drop of a hat so I need to have my cereal in the mornings and have something like a yogurt for my evening snack.

good mortning....

weigh in day today....as i suspected i gained.....only 2 tenths of s pound, but just as a loss is a loss, a gain is a gain.

i've been havivg a bowl of cereal as a snack at night too, Vicki.....i had borderline high chlorestrol when i went in for my physical a couple weeks ago...my dr. is letting me try to bring it down through diet, rather than meds....so i've been eating a lot of cherrios....lol....
i'm going to eat an apple from now on..

I've been eating a bowl of cereal at night as a snack thinking at least I was getting daily fiber but it's making the numbers on the scale go in the wrong direction. So no more cereal at night. Bob mentioned this morning I could still have my cereal, only have it for breakfast instead and have something small, like a yogurt for my evening snack. So I'll give that a try and see if it works better for me. I'm staying within my calorie limits with the cereal. I just think because I was eating it in the evenings, I wasn't burning it off fast enough so my morning weigh in reflects it.

We also were a bit cooler today but beautiful sunshine and very little wind. Sure brings up your spirits to see the sunshine. I sat out on deck Monday in a tank top and loved the sun shinning on my face, hands and shoulders. Can't wait for spring with that little teaser!!!!

Hi Everyone. Just got my new glasses. Going to take getting used to. Before I had progressive lenses. This time it's with the bifocal and trifocal lines. And I'm used to a large frame but this pair is very small as I'm no longer able to wear the larger size due to brittle bone disease. I need as lightweight a pair as possible. I'm not really thrilled with how I look in these glasses but over time I guess I'll get used to it. Right now they just kind of make me sad feeling.

Because of the limits on our eye insurance, any changes to my glasses, we'd have to pay for. For long distance seeing, the glasses are great. I can see better than I have in years. But the section for the computer reading is less than 1/2 inch wide and really difficult. Same for book reading. I'll get used to it but next time around I'm getting the larger frames no matter what so at least then the bifocal and trifocal sections will be bigger. I just don't look good at all with tiny frames like this. I'm going to have to buy some makeup and start wearing it again just to make myself look decent. Right now I feel I look more like a 90 year old instead of just 58.

I'm back on track since 1/3/15. Doing good with just a couple of slip ups. Two more lbs. & I will be into 230ville. I started at 254 lbs. & as of today am down to 241 lbs. I tend to lose a lot of weight the 1st three weeks then it's a struggle to lose. I think the 1st weeks loss is water retention. My goal is to see Onederland by the end of this year. It would be nice if it's sooner than that.

Having a nice day today. The weather is sunny and in the 40's today, I went for a nice walk today. The sun really helps but me in a good mood.

good morning......

it's been unseasonably warm here. yesterday was windy, but temps in the 40's made it hard to complain about. it's supposed to be in the 40's and 50's through tuesday and then back to the 30's.

another nice sunny day so got outside..took Daisy to a park and walked her a bit then let her run since there wasn't anyone else there at the time.....after getting home we walked to the back of the property so she could run some more...so nice to get outside again...

WOW.......bright, warm, low 50's, sunshine today. What a lift it gives. Went to dentist and then out to lunch to celebrate my son's girlfriends birthday and then a run to SAM's club and then home. Am bushed, but sure was active today..............at least as active as my ole' knees will allow me to be. Hope you all have a great nights sleep and a fantastic weekend. emoticon

I started the META 30-day challenge yesterday. For today it was 10 minutes of exercise so I went to youtube and danced to All About That Base, Shake It Out and Aerosmith's Don't Want to Miss a Thing. I hope I can do the whole 30 days.

Today was laundry day in the Bishop household. But it's all done for another week. Just finished an early supper of New England clam chowder. A local restaurant only makes it on Fridays and we love it so once a month we get two take out bowls of it. Yum ! emoticon

Haven't been doing much exercising. I'm having neck pain and it limits what I can do. I had this same pain 3 years ago and saw 5 different doctors and they couldn't find a cause. After 9 months it went away all by itself. I see my doctor next Thursday so I'll see what develops until then.

I've been bouncing - up down up down up down - for the past few weeks. It's time to move on and get away from those numbers and on to some newer, lower numbers!!! emoticon

The sun came out here yesterday afternoon. I actually got out to walk the dog... but it was very icy so it wasn't much of a cardio walk. Back to gray skies today. Grateful for that short burst of sunshine!

Chris..my SADS got really bad during December when we had just 6 days of sun. All the rest were cloudy, grey, and rainy. I was put on a low dose antidepressant for it. Also had a change in the fluid pill so weight went down 3.6 pounds this week---well it's been 3 weeks since I weighed in at TOPS...I was the best loser of the week..

Finally nice enough to get outside so got all the Christmas totes out to the shed and filled the suet cages. Filled the bird feeders yesterday.

good morning...

weigh in day today, i lost 1.6 lbs, but i still have a few to go to get back to my 'pre holiday' weight.

it's supposed to get up towards 50 today and tomorrow......the little snow we have on the ground has started to melt...if the wind doesn't blow, i'll try to get out for a bit.....the dog has been staying out and exploring for longer periods of time. and wanting to go out more often...i should be taking a lesson from her.....

I am sick of the cold too and my pipes actually froze one day despite the heat being on. I have problems with SAD and I find that if I turn on all the lights in the morning and turn up the heat for a little while it helps a lot.

I also have had it with this arctic blast that has come our way. Just receiving those flower catalogs gives me hope that spring will come. It may be March before I can get out and work in the flower beds................but, hurry please!! Weigh in tomorrow. emoticon

i know it's only mid-january, but i'm ready for it to warm up any time. we haven't had much snow yet this year, but the cold temps are making up for it. i'm having a little seasonal depression, but i'm sure it will go away when i can get out a little more....

My pipes unfroze Friday so I hopped in the shower right away and did a load of wash. I headed up to see my Dad yesterday and did good with the food. He likes to be taken out to a nice restaurant when I visit him and I usually get the roast beef platter with fries and dessert but this time I got a BLT, light on the mayo, and no dessert. Tomorrow is my weigh in day and I hope to see some more weight lost.

I live in Hawaii...yesterday was the warmest day of our winter, so I went to the beach. I still had to wear a sweater over my bathing suit...can you imagine? Brrrrr. nah jk , The warm weather is why I live here.
