Good morning, Another hot day I took Mutt out while i hung laundry, he didn't do anything. I clicked his leash to the fence in the shade and when we came in he emptied his water bowl. I can't let Mutt off leash, he likes to run in the horse pasture. Some of the horses just look up and go back to what grazing, but there is always at least one that spooks. No he doesn't chase the horses, he just runs in the pasture weather the horses are out or not.

Yesterday I did the 80's cardio on Cardio Blast. There were a few times I had to modify for my ankle and I never did figure out the pony, but on the whole it was a good work out. Yes my DVD came with a request to tell everyone what I thought.

I have an I pad and my mother an acer. Both of us love our tablets. We can read books listen to music. I buy audiobooks and then sink them up on my car and listen to them.I have a sparkpeople app and can easily use it. All of these electronics can be confusing in the beginning but once you learn the basics they are awesome. I like that I can watch TV shows on the pad so in a few minutes I am going to put on a show and head to the treadmill.

I got the sp diet and food tracker - I think I paid $3.99 for it. I have Gmail on it. I have Facebook on it. I have myfitnesspal and MFP logs on it. I got sparkpeoples perfect produce that I think I paid a couple of bucks for that shows pictures of produce next to the names of the stuff and gives you tips on buying, storing, preparing, and nutrition if on them. I have Pinterest. I have in my "play books" folder several free books that I found and downloaded. I have spark quote - quote of the day that some times works. SparkRecipes is the one that didn't work for me. There is also Sparkpeople Inspirational quote that I was having problems with. In my library I have a bunch of free books, most from an author named Russ Durbin. I read his free book "An Irish Love Story" and liked it so looked and found a bunch more of his for free and got them to read. I will have to get me some styles. I just started part 3 of the 5 parts for SP and needed to figure out some rewards for myself any ways. I think that will be one of the small ones. I think for a big one I am going to buy myself a new pair of good running shoes instead of going to "Payless Shoe Source" like usual for a new pair.

I use a styles on the nook. It is a lot easier for me. Styles can be expensive and since I figured they would be like pens and grow legs, I got set of 6 for about $3. I haven't even tried to put my smashword books or PDF books on the nook as for SP I just have it on the web page. I gave up even looking for an app.

MaryAlice, I recently bought myself one of those Nooks and I am still trying to figure it all out. Some of my books are in one folder because the came from one company and some are in another place because they came from a different company, very confusing. I got MyFitnessPal load on for free really easy. But had some problems with some of the SparkPeople stuff. The sp app and something else from sp that I paid for worked okay, but two of the free sp apps didn't work. I tried to get them to help me with it and they had me remove them and add them back and it still didn't work. Tried that several times, and then they suggested that I basically tried to wipe every thing off my nook and start all over loading every thing to the Nook, which I refused to do. Didn't want to risk getting charge twice for stuff that I had on there, or losing any thing else that I already had on it. I really like it, but still trying to get use to it. And I have a hard time typing things in to it. Like my fingers are too big or what ever, and some times it's too touchy and other times not touchy enough. So I use it more for just reading right now instead of trying to log things in with it too. Thinking of getting a stylist pen and seeing if that helps with it.

Good morning, I'm a little late getting on because DH got me a Nook HD and I've spent all morning trying to get me Nook books. I could get my Kindle books just fine, but not my nook books. I ended up calling Nook to find out how to read Nook Books on a Nook tablet. Talk about feeling stupid. Turns out I was doing it right, I just couldn't tell because they put 2 pages of recommends before my books so I didn't know my books where there.

Yesterday I tried out the SP Cardio Blast DVD I won on a wheel spin. I did the walking exercise first since it was first on the DVD. It is 5 min of walking warm up, 10 min cardio walking and 5 min walking cool down. A good 20 min indoor walk.

I actually felt worse today, even though I have started on antibiotic. More bumps emerged and I ran a low grade fever for awhile. The doctor did say it could several days for meds to kick in so it's a wait and see time. I did weed in the garden for awhile this morning so I got some exercise points in before the fever hit. tomorrow is another day. emoticon

I love PB&J too, I used reduced fat peanut butter and sugar free jam, not so many calories.

Doing the swimming today and looking forward to doing the mule kicks that is a favorite exercise of mine. I also rode my exercise bike for 30 minutes and did 10 push ups.

I entertained 19 children this morning. We talked about where their food comes from. Then we toured the garden and everyone of them had a turn at digging a hill of potatoes. It was a good time.

Now I feel exhausted instead of energized. Maybe I should take a nap. emoticon

HI! I hope everyone is having a good day today.

I've walked. I'm trying to change up the pace and time since the route must stay the same. I still need to do a strength video. My plan had been for legs, but my left knee made a horrible sound a little while ago when I was coming down the front stairs. Maybe I should do abs or arms today.

I ate a PB&J for lunch. I didn't realize how many calories were in that harmless little staple! I won't go over my range, but oooooooo.

Remember today we are swimming. Tomorrow we are going to pretend to be mules. I don't think this exercise is on SP. Kneel on the floor. kick one leg straight out behind you, like a mule kicking. You can do 10 on one leg and then 10 on the next or you can alternate legs. I didn't get my exercise in yesterday I was to sick, I'll have to try to get both in today.

Good morning, I go in early today, noon. Yesterday I got the exercise I won on a wheel spin, so I'll look at that this morning. It is Coach Nicole so I'm sure there something I can do, she normally,

Yesterday My headache got so bad I almost called in. I took a nap and felt well enough to go in, then got worse as the night went on, It didn't help that I didn't get my first brake and my lunch was late. but then the closer came in at 6:30. He is a bundle of energy and turns everything into a joke. Hard to believe he is older then I am and retired army. Sometimes he can drive me nuts, but last night it must have been just what I needed because I started feeling better right away. He also was a there so I could take my brake and lunch and food helped.

Dilute. Condolences. I agree that you have to give yourself some room at this time. Our journeys are not going to be straight flat roads. There will be curves, bumps and even detours, but we must continue this journey. I did go to doc today and his thoughts are that the bite that started my "bumps" got infected and spread thru the lymph glands on the back od my head and neck so I am on antibiotic and should be better soon. emoticon

This morning was emoticon aerobics for an hour.

This afternoon I emoticon 3 miles on the trails by my house. It was really hot emoticon so I only wlaked for 50 min. instead of the hour I had planned. Have a great rest of the day everyone.

DLITE719 - I am so sorry for the loss of your Mom. I lost my Mom, too, this year. I know how difficult it is to eat properly during such times. As for the 4 lb. increase, don't sweat it. Our body can and does fluctuate up to 6 lbs. a day. It may very easily be gone again tomorrow.

Morning, I spoke to Mom yesterday and she wasn't doing much of anything because she couldn't stay out of the bathroom. DD called this morning and said she called the Dr about her 1 year old, he kept filling his dippers. I am so stopped up I have a headache.

Today we are doing the pendulum. Tomorrow we will be go swimming. lie on the floor on your tummy, lift the right arm and left legs, switch.

DLITE719, So sorry to hear about your mom passing. All my best to you and your's always. As far as the food and the weight gain, do be hard on yourself. You got a lot on your mind. I will get better. Just keep moving on. You also could be gaining weight from building muscles which are heavier than fat too.

This has been a tough couple of weeks. You see my mom passed away on 7/18. I have been having trouble eating a regular meal. No matter how hard I try to eat the right things I went over my calories for most days. My weight was down to 164 but this morning I was up 4 lbs. I have been exercising thank heavens cuz it probably would have been more then that.I got home from work tonight and hit the treadmill.
I need help getting back on track with my eating.

Good start of the week. No problem with diet, but exercise is limited. I have swollen glands in neck and back of head. While I don't feel sick otherwise the pain is making me be still. Movement makes them hurt more and I don't have a clue what is going on. if not better by tomorrow, I guess it may be a visit to doc-if only to be reassured it isn't anything to worry about. I did help my DH pull up our row of green peas as they are done and he needed the space to put up fence around sweet corn. Did several loads of laundry and a little housekeeping so it wasn't a totally lazy day. emoticon

It's Monday! weigh day! I was glad that I lost one pound. I ate and ate all week so I was surprised. I got on the scale again to check! Got to the gym pool and stayed 45 minutes. Shocked when I looked at the clock! Spent time exercising in the basement (bike, total gym, leg stuff, weights). (Took a nap!) Took a walk this evening. Getting farther every day. (I take my crutch with me just in case.) Goal this evening is to do a few more one legged jumping jacks. At 35 so far. Ate ok today. Still trying to up the protein without going over in calories. Tried this? Cottage cheese with a scoop of whipped topping and sprinkle a touch of jello powder on it, mix in and add any fruit. yummy. Light, sweet, filling, and cool.

I love doing push ups. today did 40 floor push ups and 40 wall push ups this morning. I also am doing the jumping jacks, like them too one arm and leg at a time, doing them in two groups of 50.

Good Morning. Another hot one. yesterday I decided to wait till today to do laundry since I was going into work early. I got up this morning and realized I don't have any stockings. Laundry is in the washer when it is done I'll hang it out.

I didn't see that anyone else post their 10 exercises. I hope everyone enjoyed their slow day and got their walk in. Today we are doing jumping jacks and tomorrow we will do the pendulum. lye on the floor with your legs together straight up. while keeping your back flat on the floor, roll your hips so your legs touch each side.

Happy Monday Everyone! Hope we all have a good beginning to the week. Had a nice weekend. Went out with some friends for supper. This place has 2 for one specials and the food is delicious. To keep on track I ate all the vegetables first then a couple bites of potato and 1/2 of the stuffed salmon. The rest I will eat for lunch today. Everyone else inhaled their food and kept pushing me to eat more. I am so happy I could resist the temptation.
Looking to get down 2 more pounds this week. emoticon

Afternoon, Hope everyone is having a pleasant day. I went for my walk this morning It takes about an hour, so I do it on my days off pretty early so it stays cool. Its interesting when I first started I had to talk myself into going now I find I look forward to it. Its my time. I think what I want or I don't think at all. Sometimes I just take in all the scenery, other times is just the quiet. I find it a stress reducer and a time just to feel calm and happy with no worries. emoticon
Then I get home have coffee with my husband and we plan what we have to do today. Its time to wash the RV, go to the store, clean up the dishes and sweep the floor. emoticon I still have to admit I am feeling good and things are going my way even if its just a small step at a time. emoticon

Been a good day in Nebraska; however, it sure is cool. We have had a week of 70 and 80 degree days and they are predicting another week of the same. It is beautiful 'people' weather but we make our living growing crops in this state and it is not good growing weather. It has everyone a little concerned.

I have had a good day food wise - I'm not real hungry today which helps. We have a carry-in dinner tonight at church as our new minister is being installed. I will be good as I want to lose weight this week.

Today is a slow day, just a nice walk.

Tomorrow is jumping jacks, if you are up to it do them the way we learned in school. Alternatives at move you arms and one leg at a time or my favorite, sit on the edge of a chair, lift your arms as high as is comfortable and spread your legs as for as comfortable.

My exercises for yesterday are

Good morning, I go in at 11A to day and it is a short day only 4 hours. Maybe me feet will get a little rest.

Karen. I would never suggest a person stop going to church. I was showing some things you need to look out for. One of the things I did was instead standing around with a cup of coffee and donut was to take the children outside to the playground and of course playing with the children.

Linda - So sorry to hear about your knee problems. It is so frustrating when you try so hard and someone else messes it all up.

MaryAlice - The reason people in my church are obese is because of the awesome potlucks.....They are deliciously sinful. I think I will keep going to church though and learn to handle the potlucks emoticon Then I will do a few exercises when I get home.

Had a farmers' market this morning, bought a few groceries and now I am home thinking about that exercise emoticon

My dietitian just gave me a Lesline Sansone DVD, I did one mile of it and it was a good work out. Today I went shopping at Wal Mart and had to walk over a mile to get to the train station.

If you run the online application, it's pretty interesting to do that, and the website has a lot of good information under "News and Publications" at the top.

I love research, but there's no substitute for good ol' sweating and exercise.

And, by the way, have you ever thought why most exercise videos have only thin people? Why not "real" ones? Well, Leslie Sansone who does the "walking" exercise videos has some with people of all shapes and sizes. Good for her!

Good morning No walk for Mutt and me this morning. It is raining. The weather person says we are so far in to the drought that it would have to rain everyday for a week or two to brake the drought, so I won't complain about a little rain.

Remember to do you own exercises today and tell the team what you did. This will give people ideas and let me know what level every one is working at. Many of you take Sunday off so we will too.

Just keep in mind, one survey showed that people that went to church regularly were more apt to be obese then the general public. They aren't sure if this is because you spend so much time sitting or because food is so often at church. Another survey was of 50 people that lost 50 pounds and kept it off 5 years. All said there is no such thing as an off day for exercise. What we call an off day is a slow day, just a 30 min walk at a moderate pace.

MaryAlice- (PS-my sister's name, too) I know about doing too much. I went into this replacement in a great position. I had PT for 10 weeks with the other knee in the winter--did exercises on both, hired a personal trainer in the spring to keep it going and to cover more whole body approach, lost another 20 pounds, had deep tissue massage often (and the day before surgery), and was ready for the challenge. Three weeks in I was walking without a cane with no limp and relatively no pain. Dr. was pleased and said I was a poster child! Was having home PT first three weeks. First time at the clinic I had a new PT and she miss-read my recovery healing level. She did all strength, high end exercises and I ended up back to square one. Ripped a muscle and was back to crutches and now three weeks later I am finally using a cane, doing only stretches, and non-weight baring stuff. I do get to the pool, do the recumbent bike, and do floor exercises on the bed (can't figure out how to get up from the floor w/o hubby). I have just started doing chair videos. Go figure!! So upsetting.

got a request from DH to help him shovel cob corn into combine to get shelled corn. After more than an hour of shoveling I had sore shoulders, sore back, sore wrists so thought that would do for "exercise" today. I will make up with the leg lifts tomorrow. Cooler weather and a few showers were a welcome releaf. good weekend everyone. emoticon

Hi everyone.... The weather was beautiful here in NJ today. What a relief after the past few weeks! I usually work a second job on the weekend and just found out (like Katree) there's not enough for me so I get the weekend off. hope the weather stays nice so I can work in my garden. emoticon I had an unexpected day off today. Not enough to do at work so I was asked if I wanted the day off. I quickly said that was great, I thought they might change their minds so I left quickly. emoticon It was nice I was able to take my walk for an hour. During that time I listened to my music watched the birds fly around and stopped by a blackberry bush and had a hand full of berries. oops forgot about them in my tracker. will need to put them down. I also managed to do some housework and swept the front porch. Now I just finished lunch which I did track I think I will go outside and enjoy my backyard for awhile.. Hope everyone is having a great day. emoticon emoticon

emoticon Linda. I try to post different ways to do the exercises, but what ever you do don't push your knee to hard to fast when in doubt ask the Dr. I know when I broke my ankle, or 2 weeks I was pretty much confined to a recliner, for 6 weeks i could do most floor exercises and chair exercises. When the Dr said that I wouldn't re brake my ankle unless it would brake someone else's ankle, so if I could stand the pain I could do it. So my list of exercises don't cause pain.

Have been absent for a while. Had a knee replacement in June and took a month off from Spark. Doing better now. Have been on Spark Coach and my seated exercise team but ready to do more. Went to the pool today. Ha, wasn't going to go because it was raining hard. Let's see, it's too wet to go get wet? Did my exercises as given. The 100 count ones sound fun. Most I can do. My eating has been in range. Did not loose much but with healing it was to be expected. Lost two pounds last week so it got me going again!!! See ya!

Good morning, Another hot one, I was off yesterday, tried to stay off my feet and woke this morning with m feet killing me, I'm off again today maybe I can do something with these feet.

Today we are doing lying abduction. Tomorrow is free day. I have been trying to pick exercises everyone can do. Now it your turn to show me what you can do and what you need. Do 10 reps of 10 exercises and tell us what you did. You can do them one here and one there or all at once like a circuit. You can get you exercises off SP, DVD's you like or exercises you do at the gym. Hint if you are going to do them like a circuit you will do better if you do all exercises in the same positions. Getting up and down off the floor can get. tiresome.

Good morning another hot one. we might not hit the tripled digits predated. Now the weather man says 99. Between the heat and my feet killing me, I don't expect to get much done. Some how the heat drains my even inside.

Today we are doing the cat cow. Tomorrow is lying abduction. Lie on your side, lift your outside leg, hold for 2 seconds and slowly lower your leg. This exercise can be done standing or using an exercise band. Yes you can do all 100 exercises at a time, but one of the reasons to do 10 at a time is getting up and doing something 10 times a day. Even this little bit will go along way at keeping your metabolism up. Many of the exercises we do can be done a work. I'm not suggesting you get on your hands and knees and do the cat cow at work, your co workers might think you are a few fries short of a happy meal.
