We need to go pick up supplies in Scottsbluff today (90 miles away) so we can get our next two field houses ready for tomatoes. However, I wanted to check-in and say "I'm still here! and Thanks to all my SP for their friendship and encouragement." You are just what I need most days.

Callie - A walk through cactus flowers sounds delightful. Have a great day!

ooooh spring flowers....so pretty. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon we have a lot that come up year after year...like our african daises.

I also could not swim in cold water...but then my choices are different here in phoenix.

I am going hiking emoticon emoticon today..me and DH and 2 friends. Not really a hard hike but it may be about 3 miles. Suppose to have alot of beautiful cactus flowers and wild flowers out.

When I go over my caloreis...I sometimes "blow it" really bad for the rest of the day. Sometimes really hard to stop. emoticon that "all or nothing" attitude keeps away my goals. I really need to work on that.

DH has a docs appt. before hiking..so I will close for now. Thankfully it is at 7:00 a/m...1st one on the books.

I forgot to mention....someone at church last night noticed I had lost weight. What an "uplifting" feeling. I have lost 4# with SP but all total 12# since last Sept. Still have 10# more I want to lose by August for a vacation where there will be plenty of walking opportunities. Less weight means I can move better. emoticon

I'm so glad the pool is heated at the gym. I don't know if I could handle cold if it were outside especially when it is only 30 outside! emoticon

I think I went over calories today. I will find out when I put dinner in.

We bought flowers yesterday and planted all of them. They look so pretty and really smell good. So fo 2 hours I got my exercise in.

Not much going on in Prescott today. Have a great day everyone.

Hi all, checking in this evening ... my ladies come for Bible study in a few minutes - it's our last lesson in James. But, my day isn't complete without talking to all of you, which is emoticon ! I appreciate each and every one of your posts!

The temporary cap on my back molar started peeling off on the side of my tongue and was so sharp. My tongue was/is raw! So, hubby and I headed to the dentist, which is 60 miles away, to get me some help. He had my permanent cap there, so he put it on. It is 1,000 times better!! Thank you, Dr. Nick, and thank you, God!

I decided it was time to invest in some new jeans, so I told hubs since we were there, we were going shopping. I found 2 pairs!! emoticon It's hard to find jeans long enough. Anyway, I'm pleased. emoticon

The emoticon has come out, and it looks to be a lovely evening ... hope you have one too.

P.S. I walked 3 miles this morning all weighted up.

I went to the pool to day for my water aerobics class and the water was so cold that I wanted to get out. I stayed, the water did not get warm until 15 minutes before I got out of the pool, I really enjoyed my hot shower afterwards. emoticon

I carry water everywhere I go. I tend to sip on it all day. Exercise can be in 10 min segments. Walking is the easiest. Other things I have done is if I'm somewhere there are children that need entertained, gotten together a game of ball, dancing, races, or even coming up with exercises. Good old fashion games like Hoke Poke will keep you moving. Tell your friends about your need for exercise, maybe some of them would like to met at a park to walk, have an exercise party or all go to an exercise class together.

Good Monday Morning!

Yesterday's eating went over by some because of the day but it was a good day the same. Church council served breakfast, lunch at Arby's with friends and then a Seder Meal. All of it was good nutritious food but I wasn't in charge of my own destiny with my safe foods. No damage done and I am back to my plan. No weight loss or gain this week. Last week I was on the committee to serve dinner at church on Thursday evening - spent the day in town all day preparing the meal and then the meal. Friday I spent the day at the Hospital setting up the vegetable program. Saturday was spent in Chadron watching basketball games. And then I described Sunday. OKAY, SO HERE IS MY QUESTION? How do I live the new healthy lifestyle when I am never here to control it. I didn't overeat but the water consumption was down and the exercise didn't happen as regular. These are some things I need to figure out. I guess, I am attempting to made this a life change for me not a diet, but life gets in the way of my change.

That is enough groaning for one day - Have a great day!

Karen

emoticon It's all about the choices!. The fruit is a great idea. There are usually baked goods available for Sunday morning adult bible study. The next time I go I think I bring a variety of fruit to offer.

Well here I am at week 7 and I am still motivated thanks to all of you. Your encouragement has helped to keep me going. In the past I would have given up way before this. Onward and downward (lol) team!!

emoticon MaryAlice...great choice.

Karen...didn`t know that I will check for that next time. emoticon

CICO counting did not work as well for me but those 10# marks (200, 190, 180etc) are hard to budge so maybe it will be different this week. I will not be disappointed as 3.4# for the month are gone for good. By the CICO calculations I should have lost 1.2# but instead it only shows .2 # Oh, well..........plugging on.

Have ladies bible study this a/m and then to the grocery store.

Have a beautiful day, everyone. emoticon

Good morning. Yesterday they put out donuts in the lunchroom. When they put out donuts they put out something else, userly cookies or brownies. Well this time it was bananas. That made it a lot easier. Before I have to try and think of something else when I walk past the donuts this time I could and did stop and got a banana.

Hi all. Just finished lunch; it's 4 p.m. Are you wondering if we were eating for 3 hours? emoticon Nope, just visiting. Our pastor's wife is gone so he came to enjoy lunch with us, and then hubby's mom comes most every Sunday. Lots of visiting! When you get 3 or more around the table it seems like there are always lots of memories that pop up to visit about.

Lovely Sunday here. I played for the service this morning then home for lunch. In a couple of hours, we'll be back for evening service. It is once again quite cool today (20s), but that will help with the fact that we are still in a drought. No plants are needing any moisture just yet.

Hope everyone has a "restful" Sunday.

Mary Alice - Good story, I agree, we need to hear these things to encourage us forward.

I visited with a young woman at the hospital the other day and she was telling me her health issues - high blood pressure, border line diabetic, acid reflux to the point it has damaged her esophagus, and there was one more. She told me that they all have come about since her last pregnancy but the truth of the matter was she was in the obese category. I felt bad for her as I knew the struggle she was going to have to get her health back. I invited her to SparkPeople but the truth is she is not ready to make the changes yet. Someday!! When you get my age you realize the damage you have done and that someday never really gets here. It is simply a decision!!! TRUE HEALTH REFORM STARTS IN THE KITCHEN.

Church today, we came home for a couple of hours and then we are back at church for a Seder Feast - lamb & bitter herbs. Not too much to worry about there diet wise. We have our first communion kiddos which hubby and myself help with. We have a Passover feast (Seder Meal) tonight and then they take their first communion on Maunday Thursday. It is a very special event and glad to be part of it.

Everyone have a great Sunday!

Good a/m

MaryAlice...that is a very inspirational story. I hope you would have posted her story anyway, even if she had said "no". You did not mention any names and it would have inspired us.

There are many other success stories on SP that are very similar. I have run into them by reading others` blogs. I will find a few and post their links later today.

I admire that lady...she doesn`t know what she weighs..therefore does not let the scale dictate her mood. I am not that way...wish I were. I have felt "wonderful " about myself...stepped on that stupid scale and my mood plummeted...wayyyyyyyyy down.

I won`t even weigh on anyone`s scale but my own. Of course at the doctors` but I say their scale is "off" anyway...LOL

To each his own scale....is my motto.

Thanks for posting that MaryAlice.

I weigh on Monday a/ms and have been logging for CICO..we`ll see if it rings true. According to my figures...I should lose at least 1#. ...we`ll see.

Have a beautiful LORD`S day! emoticon

Faith keeps many doubts in her pay. If I could not doubt, I should not believe.
Henry David Thoreau

Good morning. Last night a lady was returning some cloths. I asked why. She gave me the biggest smile and looked glad I asked. She said I thought I was down to am 18, but I'm all the way down to 16. I asked her if I could tell my weight loss friends on line. She got real excited and said yes, but I had to tell you that she didn't weigh herself. She knew she was over weight. Her DR diagnosed her with lupus and arthritis in her knees. She went to a wheel chair thinking that would save her knees and she wouldn't need her knees operated on. She says the last time her DR told her how much she weighed, she was over 300. The lady put her wheel chair away a few hours a day and watched what she eat. Now she is in a 16, never uses her wheel chair, does her own shopping and walks the grandchildren.

Thanks! I sure HOPE this tooth settles down. I put some peppermint essential oil on the jaw, and it has stopped hurting. I'm using clove oil for the tooth now. I don't understand how a dead tooth can hurt so much! I can't chew on it at all.

Calieann, you can count pulling weeds as exercise. It is under gardening.

I am not doing the CICO. I will just stick to my calorie allowance on my trackers and exercise.

It is very windy here today and only 40! Yesterday it was almost 70. You sure can't count on the weather up here.

Karen, My husband (deceased) lived in Niobrara, NE. So I have been in NE many times. Sorry about your Mom's hip Karen. If she is that fiesty I bet she will heal in no time at all.

Pam, I hope you are feeling better. I hope you won't have to have anymore work done on your teeth.

Have a great day everyone.

I'm back again ... walked 3 miles with 17 extra pounds strapped to my body. I was sweating! The jaw is not aching as much so maybe it is healing? Hope so.

Karen, I enjoy David Jeremiah too. Loved the James study the most of all we've done with Beth.

Ummm, CICO - I'm not sure I understand why it needs explaining? Seems kind of self-explanatory to me unless I'm not getting all of it?? So, here's what I understand: everyone has a set amount of calories they can eat for their body and how much exercise they do. The calories you don't eat and your exercise calories worked off are the calories you count. There are 3,000 calories in a pound. So, when you work off calories and don't eat calories that add up to 3,000, you should lose a pound. Is this what you want?

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -Apostle Paul

I have been trying to explian the formula for CICO. All I have been doing is confusing myself even though I understand it.

Can anyone explain it better than I can? Is there a link that would be usefull? Mostly I am coming up with teams.

Good morning.
MaryAlice - Your mom should now be happy because no ticks - right?

It is so cold and icy here this morning that I know we have no ticks. My 86 year old aunt fell on the ice yesterday going for her mail and broke her hip. She is so angry that they are keeping her in the hospital for as long as they are. She wants to get back to her home. I guess she will be fine with a spirit like that.

We are going to Chadron, NE today to watch my grandson play basketball. He is on a travelling team - 8th grade basketball.

I love Beth Moore's studies - I hope you enjoyed it. We recently finished one on the Patriarchs of the Bible. We are now studying the book of Ecclesiastes through a book called 31 Days to Happiness by David Jeremiah. It is also 300 pages of small print but very interesting.

I have done my exercise, sparked a bit andI am going to water plants before we leave and have a great relaxing day - Hope all of you do the same

Karen

Good morning, I got already for my morning walk and discovered my phone as dead. DH has fits if I walk without my phone, so I guess my walk is postponed till my phone charges. It is over cast so I don't think the heat will be too much of a problem.

I got the book I ordered, American Grace. It is a book about religion in America. It is 530 pages and small print and lots of grafts, but I'm so excited to dig into it.

The other day Mom was worried about the ticks this spring because they had had less then an inch of snow this year. Last night the had 7 inches.

I had a root canal done on Wednesday, and it has hurt ever since. I was hoping that the root canal would take care of the pain from a cracked molar, but the jaw where the shots went in is still painful, and I'm not able to chew on the tooth yet, so soft foods for me. I decided to try walking 2 miles yesterday because I was feeling pretty emoticon , so I put on all my weights and walked with Leslie. It felt great! I'm going to up it today to 3 miles. I don't jump around or jog, just walk. This too will pass!

It snowed Thursday night. I walked to the mailbox in the snow on Friday morning, and I could smell spring in the air! It was up to mid 40s yesterday and so lovely out. It snowed again in the night and we got up to gray clouds this morning and temps in the teens.

I liked the dog story too. It warms the emoticon !

Today I will finish up the last day's study for the Beth Moore James study we are doing. It has been so good. I've learned so much!

I'm listening to the song as I type ... I love the music - good exercise music! emoticon

Coffee is on ... come on over for a cup ... just expect to find me in my jammies! emoticon

Have my 2 grsons here for a few days and planned on flying kites but I don`t think the weather is going to cooperate.

Will be going to Costco later ....buying a rotiserie chicken (for sure)

Karen - Love the song, You can't help but move when that one plays. My body doesn't move quite as good as it did 40+ years ago when that was at our school dances, unfortunately emoticon

Ginny - The way I look at it is if you are taking it off 1 pound at a time - It is more of a lifestyle rather than a quick weight loss diet and maybe it will stay off. Seems like I am on a 1 pound a week schedule but at least it is going down.

I am on here very late today as I had meetings all day. Our vegetable business is setting up a vegetable box program for the hospital wellness group. Employees from the hospital sign up for the vegetable boxes now and then I deliver a box every other week to them through the summer for 9 weeks. It is a win-win for all of us.

I haven't done anything physical all day and I feel exhausted. It is 5:00 here but I think I will go walk on the treadmill and try to get a little energy. Everyone have a great weekend.

Hooray for kites on a breezy day! I used to fly them on the beach along the Atlantic. I flew some large ones--I used to fly them from a fishing rod. Looked funny, but a great trick for not getting bad cuts from the string!

Your work on the reservations sounds fascinating.

Enjoy that awesome walk in the park!

emoticon Hi...I am back again. I was on the phone talking to my daughter who lives in Missouri.

I am not usually an animal lover but the heart warming stories about dogs makes me wonder why not?. I think it may have to do with how I was brought up...I have my moms` attitude which I am sure has been ingrained in me. emoticon

Today is Friday...anyone have anything exciting that thye are doing?

We are on a minstry team that does an event on the Indain reservation. We have a team of 7 that goes out and does bible lessons, crafts & songs for the kids when the adults are holding a revival.
We have done this for about 5 years now ...2 or more times a year. It is such a blessing to have gotten to know some of our native American friends.

We have 2 grandsons that will be here today through Monday a/m. Husband has 2 huge kites that he bought at Costco ...an eagle with a wing span of 72" and the other is a pirate ship which is 32" across. Weatherman says the weekend will be breezy with highs in the 70`s. Hope it is s good wind to fly the kites.

For me...I will take the opportunity to walk around the park. emoticon emoticon

Hope you all have great things to do this weekend and be mindful of your goals.

emoticon Watch out for the "food munchies" as they will sneak up on you and you will indulge without even knowing it.

Great thoughts reduced to practice become great acts.
William Hazlitt

Good morning We live out in the country where people think you can dump dogs. A pit bull mix suddenly appeared in our neighborhood. We didn't do anything at first since it might be someones new dog that had gotten loose. The dog was friendly enough, the only problem I had with him is he wanted Mutt to play. It has been two months, the dog is still running loose, no one claims him, but his coat is clean and shiny and he hasn't loss weight. Someone is taking care him. Well some people are ready to call pitt bull rescue. The children were up in arms, NO.

We live on a dead end road and the bus can't turn around so the children walk up to 1/2 mile to the bus stop. I walked down to the bus stop to walk Beka home. The pit bull mix walked beside the group of girls. Two loose boxers ran out towards the girls, the pitt mix started a low growl, never braking stride, just a low growl. he could hardly be heard over the girls chatter. One of the boxers barked at the girls and the growl became louder. The boxers backed off, the girls laughed and the dog walked each girl home. It has been decided we have a neighborhood dog.

Today is overcast and cool....30 when I left for therapy. Now it is time to head out for our diabetic check-up and I have no idea how long we will be there so dinner is in the crockpot. We will have roast beef, potatoes, and carrots and I will make cauliflower as an additional veggie.

Enjoy your day, everyone.

Mid-80s--wow! I'm hoping it gets up to the mid-30s here. I postponed my walk because it was too icy this morning. It was a sunny 18 degrees!

I got a chuckle this morning as I see people complaining or remarking about the weather being everything from too wet and cold to too hot and dry. I guess the moral of the story is "This is a day the Lord has given us, Let us be glad and rejoice in it". By the way, It is so dry and cold here - I am looking forward to Spring emoticon

My son went to High School in Estes Park, Colorado. They always referred to their seasons as only two - Winter and July.

I am helping serve a meal at the church in town today so I must go peel potatoes and carrots this morning and set everything up in the cookers. Then we will go in early 5:30 to help set tables and serve the meal. We are having corned beef and cabbage which sounds pretty good to me - although - I must behave myself today so I can enjoy it.

Have a great day - emoticon

I'm really lucky. DH does anything that requires chemicals when I'm not home and won't be back for several hours. All the green products have helped, but a lot of them aren't as green as they would have you believe.
