Hi and to the team. SparkPeople is about making healthy changes in our lifestyle, changes that we can live with forever. It is not about deprivation but about being balanced. The trackers are a way for us to visually see just what we are doing and where changes are necessary to be happier and healthier. the principles we learn here on SP help us be more balanced in all areas of life. Enjoy the journey!
Hi and ! I think you will find what you are looking for here. We are all in the same boat in one way or another. I concur with what everyone has said, and I would also add that posting is important. Check in often.
For me, I find exercise imperative. I walk with Leslie Sansone's DVDs. You can work as hard or easy as you need to, and you can decide how far you want to go. No matter what the weather you can exercise. What's not to like?!!

Mary Alice is right. With the food tracker you will see where calories are coming from. you can set up a nutrition plan that will show you where you should be for calories in one day. Also set up a fitness plan.
Giving God the glory each day for the all the bounty in my life
The Dr told me not to count calories. He controls the calories by saying no fat and not concentrated sweets, get use to that, go for portion control then start deleting unneeded calories. translate low fat. I put my foods in the tracker to stay accountable and have noticed that I'm within the calorie range. I do recommend that you track your foods. Weather you are counting calories or not. It helps to see what you have eaten written down.

Still finding my way...I have always hated counting calories. Will this site work for me??? I am 58, and always been a little overweight. Lost 35 lbs for first time in my life 3 yrs ago and kept off until I was diagnosed with a rare disease that makes me take prednisone! I have gained back the 35 lb...and am more than depressed about it. Will I find hope and help here? The way (only way) I lost the 35 lbs was my hubby did it with me. We walked every day and starved ourselves on meat and veggies, some fruits...but very small portions. It worked, but was very hard.
