Welcome back AGAIN. We all do this I think.
Commuting is a pain I have the same commute time as you morning and evening.
What do I do?
Batch cook.
Prepare at the weekend for the week or even a couple of weeks and freeze.
Take one meal each morning to defrost and bingo Microwaveable in minutes.
Down side is it is not fresh cooked today.
Plus side I know what the portion size is and EXACTLY what is in it.

Takes some organising at first then comes as second nature after a while.

Nan from Fife in Scotland.

Cherala had the same thought I have. Prepare meals on the weekend and freeze them. Then just take one out of the freezer and put in the refrigerator each night before going to bed to be reheated when returning from work the next day. If you have a timer on your oven you could even put the meal directly in the oven and set the timer to turn the oven on at a low temperature about 30 minutes before you get home and you will have a healthy hot meal waiting.

Welcome to the 50+ SparkTeam, MARYBDONNOLLY!

Sounds like you're ready to becoming the healthiest you can be. Two things that helped me kickstart my journey were making sure I logged all the food I had for the day in the Nutrition Tracker and making sure I was drinking enough water.

As for fixing healthy meals - when I was considering how I was going to fuel my body I began changing the foods I was buying so that now there are only healthy-ish foods in the house that I should be able to pull together a nutritious meal from.

It is difficult when you're faced with a long commute to know you have more work ahead of you. What about prepping items on a day when you're not at work and setting them aside to use in the upcoming week?

Don't wait until you've reached your goal to be proud of yourself. Be proud of every step you take toward reaching that goal.

A few "bad" days can't ruin your plan... only giving up can do that. Just keep going and you will get there.

Well, it has been four years since I joined Spark, and I left and came back and left and came back, and now I am 11 pounds heavier than when I first started. I am 63 years old (soon) and I can't take it anymore. My heart and lungs are reacting to the weight and I really need to put myself before everyone and everything else. I work an hour and half from home and by the time I get home am to tired to fix healthy meals. Usually eat on the run. Stressful marriage, which will not change, so need to find other ways to cope. Anyone willing to give advice or help I am willing to listen and learn. Blessings to all emoticon
