Welcome to all new members. This is a great team. Well yesterday was a disaster. I started out well. Got to work and the place was filled with sweets. We had to weigh in as part of lowering our insurance rates. I ate one bar so that was okay - then my boss took a couple of us out to eat. Ugh.... Nice of her but it was at a place that didn't have a healthy thing on the menu. I didn't want to offend her so I just ate as well as I could. I then went into a tail spin and ate things that were delicious but not good for anyone. Anyway - am back on my plan today. Have a great day everyone.

Ok now let me try this again. Just lost my signal and lost the whole post before I could post it
and to all the new members. You are really going to like this group.
I am finally just about 100% now. Yesterday was my first day back at the gym. Yoga and today water aerobics. Been walking the dog too. She was really missing her walks.
I like to try different thing to change up a recipe too. Let me know of your new ones.
I wish that DH wasn't such a meat eater. He can't go even one day without red meat. I can do completely meatless several times a week besides the chicken and fish. Trouble is that he does most of the cooking.
I hope everyone has had a good day. Take care.
Many Ginny

I give myself sticker on my calendar for my exercise. It is such fun seeing it fill up. I am running low today and think I will go to the Dollar Store and get some more. That is a mile long walk, will be good for me.

This morning my hubby and I were enjoying a cup of coffee together before I started getting breakfast, and that was one of the subjects. He gets the same stuff over and over because I'm not much of a cook ... but he never complains! I'm so blessed!
I took crunchy chicken to the new mom and I added in broccoli since she requested veggies with every meal. So, everyone, if you find a recipe you love, give me a holler. I don't like to try new recipes unless someone tells me they are fantastic.
Walked my 5 miles this morning ... babying my foot with an ankle brace and new shoes with a lot more support.

, MaggieBGood. I like it.
I received my new shoes today. I'll be trying them out over the next few days to see if they'll work or not. I'm so hoping they work. I walked 5 miles today and stayed within my calorie limit. I'm going to give myself a star on my chart every day I stay in the calorie limit. It's kind of funny but walking 5 miles is no problem ... staying in the calories is.
I fixed a meal for a new mom in our church and took it over late this afternoon. Seven ladies gathered in my living room this evening to start the Beth Moore study on James. Had a great time, and we all agreed we are anxious to "get into it."

MAGGIEBGOOD WELCOME,
today I fixed up frozen veggies, all kinds, so in the morning I can put 2 cups into my smoothies. My smoothies are big but only 200 - 250 calories, then I'll add flat-bread and 1/2 t of peanut butter for another 150 calories and that's my morning including snacks
Just finished cooking. It has been a very long day and much has been accomplished. Prepared enough food for at least two weeks. Tomorrow I will portion out the dishes and freeze most of it. Sampled everything and is is fantastic!

I'm new here but this looks like fun! I've just started back on Sparkpeople and do love the smoothies too. I've been making them about every three days and hope they'll help me to lose the weight I need to lose....25 pounds hopefully. Anyway, it'll be helpful for me to be a part of this team cause I'm in my 60's and for sure need to lose those 25 pounds!

Wow the temp is zero today with a wind chill of - 10 degrees. Won't be walking outside today. We have had such mild winters in Wisconsin lately. Packed all my food for the day - don't need to buy anything else. Hope everyone is getting healthy - still seeing lots of flu patient's. They are so sick it is sad to see.
Have a great day!!!!

Did some different exercise today. My husband and I put metal bands on our boots and walked on ice on a nearby lake. I'm not sure if my heart was pounding from the terror of walking on the ice or just from walking. Stayed within my calorie limits. Need to get a little more water in. Hope everyone had a good day.

It's a lovely sunny Saturday here. I'm off exercise for a few days . I hate to not get my walking in but my foot is acting up. The doc says I NEED new shoes - he says I am pronating - not enough support in my shoes. Every three months, if I'm going to walk 5 miles a day, I will need new ones. Mine are one and two or three years old. Ordered a couple of new pair from Zappos yesterday. So, those of you who can and are exercising, do a little for me.
Happy weekend to all! Hope those of you who had birthdays had nice ones.
I agree ... love my little grandsons!! When one comes and puts his hand in mine and asks me to come with him or read a book, it melts my heart!

I feel the same way about tomorrow being Friday, yay! My grands come too, although tomorrow it will be just our 11 year-old granddaughter as her 14 year-old brother is going on his Boy Scout Klondike camping weekend. We also have a 2 1/2 year-old granddaughter. They're the best, don't you agree?

SandyC17, I guarantee you we all know the feeling. That darn wagon... The good news is that tomorrow brings a new slate!
I'm sooo glad tomorrow's Friday that I could SCREAM. And the highlight will be having my grands for a sleepover. My 14 yr. old granddaughter makes a mean waffle, so Saturday's breakfast will be special. I'll make up for it by running around the house after my 2 1/2 yr. old grandson!
Wishing everybody a relaxing evening.

Last night was my first real fall off the wagon but it was a little one at least. I logged in the cookies I ate last night and found I didn't cause too much damage in the calorie department. Oh no!!!! As I'm typing this I recall I also ate those stupid goldfish crackers (how crazy is that) -- those goldfish will be the death of me yet! UGH! Back to the nutrition tracker.
I will do better tonight!!

Leslie, I could have written this myself. I am finding the same. I do need to make lists and do a good grocery shopping. Something else that's helpful to me (I just joined on Mon.) is to get rid of all food in the house that would be on a NO list. So I've purged my pantry and my refrigerator of all of that, and keep on hand ONLY what is healthful. So when I grab something I don't have to worry that temptation can overcome me. Everything in the house is on my YES list.
Does anyone here eat Laughing Cow cheese? It's a perfect snack.

Went for a long walk today (3 hours not sure what the distance would be)....I like to walk until it burns and baby my glutes and legs are letting me know I walked. Going to give myself a little rest and then take a short walk because I love this weather and being outside.
This mild winter we are having is perfect walking weather.
Hope everyone is enjoying what ever exercise you choose to help you reach goal and stay there....

Hi everyone,
All the way from Spain ... very cool! My brother lived in Spain a few years ago ... Barcelona and then Rota (is that how you spell it?)
I walked this morning and have planned my food for most of the day. The sun is shining so if the wind isn't blowing too much I'd like to get outside for a 1 to 2-mile stroll this afternoon.

It's spicy and satisfying when I added 1/2 cup of brown rice to it. A complete meal. I'm going to have some for breakfast and freeze half the batch. Have a healthy day everyone. Sincerely, Julia PS . I went grocery shopping for ingredients to make a couple marinaded salads that I can have on hand. I love salads, so having something healthy- ready in the refrigerator helps me make a good choice.
So one is a marinaded mushroom, cucumber, green pepper - a Greek Salad and the other is a broccoli salad with raisens.
I got on the elpitical walker on Monday, and will be going again to do that again this am. Every little bit counts, and I hope you all have a good day --
Don't give up! Remember the slogan, every day walking I am leaving calories in my tracks-- or something like that.... Lol!

I've been away for a while and decided I need to get back here and receive encouragement so as to start over. Glad to see there's plenty going on here. I got 20 minutes of aerobics in and have been eating healthy. Just streching felt good!!! Tomorrow I'll stand on the scale and see what damage has been done over the past couple weeks. I´m all the way over here in Spain so time for me to head off to sleep. Stay well!!!

Using left over juice. Well my Mom & Brother have been here and left already. Quick passing by visit. It was nice. They wanted to take my family out for dinner, but as they arrived at our home around 7 last night after 11 hours of driving they were happy to see I had made a roast, cheesy potatoes, roasted carrots, rice and gravy. I also had made Navy beans but figured all (except me) would pass on the beans. So, I filled up on a portion of beans and brown rice with a couple oz of beef. I enjoyed the carrots as well as 1/4 cup portion of my homemade gravy. I was so happy to be at home and my guest were happy to have Supper already to sit down to. I had just under 5 oz of meat I was able to pick off bone and "de-fat" after I cooked the bones overnite. Now I have the juice in freezer so I can skim off any extra fat. I thought I would make some kind of soup from dried mushrooms I had in pantry, some great northern beans, the salvaged meat and broth. I'm thinking on adding some onion and I'm not sure if I need anything else. The sweet potatoes look like they could be eaten soon, by I might just keep them on the side. Well, I hope I made you all hungry I think this soup will be a nutritious and cost effective meal over the course the this week and next. I'll post what my opinion is. Oooo, I think I'll throw in a few hot chili peppers for some heat .... it's cold outside. Good health to you all. Sincerely, Julia
