It seems that everyone is posting on the January chat instead of February.

I posted my prayer request (see below post) on February chat this morning. Now I copied it and put it here. Update on this morning.

My son does not have double pneumonia after all. The Drs. have told him that he has a virus that has attacked his heart. It turns out that he has probably had this for quite a while. His heart is enlarged from it and is not pumping the fluids from his body. His heart rate is only 25% of normal. He is going to have to wear a vest that will shock his heart to beat regularly. If it doesn't help he will then have to have a pacemaker. On top of all that they diagnosed him with diabetes too. He just moved to CO 3 months ago. Please keep him in your prayers. His name is Michael.

Good morning Spark friends.

I have a prayer request. My son Michael who just moved from CA to CO is in the hospital with double pneumonia. They have also found out that his heart is only pumping at 25%. His lower chambers aren't pumping like they should. They also have found out that he is now diabetic. Since they have just moved to CO he has no insurance at his new job for another month. Now he is farther away from me than before. Prayers for his recovery and be able to get back to work soon.

Hi Gals,

As usual, I am hanging in. I've been at this for quite sometime and I feel so much better on so many levels because I have learned to be consistent on a daily bases. Talk about a life style.

Come summer, it will be fun to buy a new wardrobe because nothing fits. Mind you, the belly fat is pretty stubborn about moving on but the muffin top is pretty much gone and just to put things is perspective, I have lost over one foot (12+ inches) around the hips......... it still takes me back.

It is nice here 50degrees yesterday, mom was in a coat, me in long sleeve shirt.

The Robins are back; don’t think they go far during the winter but they arrived for seed and looked healthy and happy.

Dakota- emoticon on the inches lost. I have a belt I put on every other month to see how I am doing inches wise. I have had to go in one hole this month woohoo

Super bowl Sunday......I have made the onion dip for this afternoon and had a bit of it. It is good I made it this year with fat free sour cream. I have the hot wings in the freezer ready to pop in the oven this afternoon, I got the ready made kind. I am going to the supermarket ( a mile long walk) to get some fat free blue cheese dressing to dip the wings in. I am not going to stay in my calorie allotment today but I am not going to binge.

Morning, I think it is, I worked till 11 last night and go in at 11 this morning. It was a mad house yesterday and I expect worse today. Yesterday all the people that were trying to get every thing for the Super Bowl, today all the people that forgot something for a Super Bowl Party, and the blue laws say we can't sell beer till after noon. many cashiers figure we will see many of the ones that bought beer yesterday again this afternoon because the beer didn't make it to today.

They just came on TV to say the vets are seeing ,more and more dogs that have eaten something they shouldn't. Remember people meds aren't good for dogs, Tylenol is poison to dogs, but the pills look like treats to dogs. Many dog meds are made to taste good. Many cleaning products are poisonous to dogs. Read your label, they will say that pets and small children should not come in contact with them keep them locked up, but dogs will lick the counters before the counter dries. Think of your dog as a curious 2 year old. They will find it and they will put it in their mouth.

I got my 5 miles in with Leslie this morning - used my 8# wt. vest and also my hand weights for two of the miles. Leslie boosts the walks on other DVDs so I decided to boost the walk this morning and jogged 4 minutes each on two of the miles. I'm feeling great and ready to go!

It is beautiful here today ... sunny, windy and I am hanging laundry out on the line. It should get dry pretty fast. Loving it!

Thank you DAKOTA50 for reminding me that the silly scale is NOT the only thing to focus on! Inches are more important in how we look and feel in our clothes. That's real progress so congratulations! My heart is with you today, Mary Alice.

I stepped on the scale this morning, and I had gained again. I'm just about back up to the 215 mark. I was about in tears. Why? Why? Why? I work so hard on the exercise and watching the calories.

THEN, my hubby helped me measure my body, and I've lost 3 inches this past month. The tears went away, and I was smiles again. I'm ready to hit February and get more inches off.

I'll be walking my 5 miles again today but without the weight vest or belt. I'm going out for lunch with a friend, and I'm going to be very careful! The place we're going gives huge portions. I'll be bringing home a doggie bag for my hubby!

I am so glad I went to the doctor finallly yesterday. Today I am better and thinking about what kind of exercise would not make me cough more. The kind I want to do is dancing and I know what my lungs would think of that---maybe stretching and crunches would be better. Thanks to all who are sharing their struggles. Somehow that is encouraging me to keep going instead of giving up because I am not losing any weight even after a month. At least I am eating better than I have for a long time and today I am making myself lazy day chicken soup--one package of chicken still frozen, 1 bag of carrots, 1 onion, 1 cup of barley and salt and pepper. I throw it all in the pot and cook for several hours. I call it lazy day soup because it is so easy to make and then I eat it for days after.

It sounds like everyone is having challenges of some kind or other. emoticon wishes to all!

I will not be exercising today. I had a root canal done yesterday, and today the mouth is pretty sore and I have a headache ... maybe from the deadening stuff they gave me yesterday?. But in spite of all that, I'm very grateful that we have dentist to take care of these problems. My heart goes out to people who don't!

I'm making broccoli cheese soup for lunch ... something soft but yummy. It's the coldest day of the year so far, - 4 degrees. A good day to stay inside close to the fire, but I have a coffee date with a friend in town and neither snow or cold will keep me home from that. emoticon

I've been taking the time to do the math CICO (calories in - calories out)

DIFFERENTIAL: -62.75 fat gone (by the hair of my chin)

Yesterday was cut close, I wanted another brownie but knew it would put me over so I controlled myself; it was HARD the voice in my head was loader then the TV. We are eating out again today and for some reason, throughout the day, that makes me hungrier. I know it just not hidden sugar and sodium but a free-for-all button that gets turned on I will need to train. Welcome to SP emoticon

Good morning, I'm off today and looking forward to taking Mutt and walking the kinks out of this old body.

Beka came home yesterday and said her teacher suggested she read Tom Sawyer and Hunk Finn. Since they have rewritten these 2 classics to make them politically correct. Some that have read the "new" additions say they ruined the classics and the writing isn't Mark Twain's. I found Hunk Finn for Kindle on Amazon, but was having trouble find Tom Sawyer, when Beka came running in "look what I found" she had the copy of Tom Sawyer her father had won in '87 for winning a reading contest.

Hubby is getting adjusted to his med and is not so grouchy today, thank goodness, I don't need all this stress. Although it is good for me diet wise as when I am stressed my tummy is in such a knot I don't eat.

Hope everyone is having a good day. I am so proud of a friend of mine. We usually begin eating healthy and 2 or 3 days into it she has all kinds of excuses and quits. This time she has stayed with her plan for a month and has lost 6 pounds this month. Good incentive for me.
They had girl scout cookies in the office yesterday and I ate them like it was my last meal. UGH - they didn't even taste that good.
I am back on my feet again. I know I can do this.

Good morning. I go in at 9 this morning, but it is only a 4 hour day. My weight is going the wrong way. I really think it is these crazy hours. My body doesn't know when to eat, so I eat all the time and I'm too tired to resist. Daddy's birthday is Friday and Sat is a year since his passing. That isn't helping much.

Beka is reminding me how it was raising her father. Beka put put down your book and eat breakfast. Beka time to put down the book and get ready for school. Beka it's bed time, no you can't read another chapter before bed. Beka put down your book, turn out the ligh and go to sleep.

Made homemade bread today for lunch - enjoyed with homemade thick strawberry jam - YUM!!
I weigh my bread slice and go by ounces. Worth every calorie!

Walked 5 miles with Leslie again this morning, and today I added back in my weight vest. My pulled muscle seems to be just fine now. Loving my new exercise shoes. I'm still wearing the ankle brace for support. The foot doesn't hurt as long as I wear it, so I'm pushing on with the miles.

I tried their menus but found I had to substitute so much that it was easier to just make up my owen menus.

I looked at Spark menus and decided that I could do better on my own. I take the time to figure out breakfast and lunch and sometimes supper (yep, I live in the country so it is supper - gives my city daughter the fits emoticon ) to make sure I have everything right. On the SPoints page you can find the view nutrition to see how you are doing for the day. It's also 2 points to view it so I try and do that every day.

I find if I do the above, it works very well. I'll tweak throughout the day if necessary but at least I have my goals pretty well set for the day.

I figure if I don't learn how to control my portions and eat "real" food that I'll be eating the rest of my life, I'll just gain everything back when I get to maintenance because I won't have been eating the foods that I'll go back to on maintenance. Does that make sense?

I have to play around with my daily SP nutrition for the carbs to be lowered and fat and protein to be higher. I don't fallow their menu and did not even know that existed. (does it average out the week???)

So tonight to get more fat higher, I will have 1 cup of milk and 1tb.peanutbutter sandwich.

I still recheck how I'm eating, so today is the first time in 6+ months and I got it % real close.

Hope your % add up when your deciding what to eat.

Good afternoon ladies.

I ned some help or advice.

For the past 2 days I have been following the SP menus. At the end of the day when I run the report it always says I have more carbs (on the diagram) than I should and not enough fat or protein. I thought their menus were supposed to be balanced to even out all of it. Looking at the menus it seems to me that there are always too many carbs. I have really been trying to cut the carbs.

Any help with this delema will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I got some reduced fat peanut butter for Hubby's P&J sandwiches and he likes it.
I have yet to try vegetables in smoothies, some day, I don't say never. In the summer I make hubby and I coffee smoothies.
I am trying to get more vegetables in my diet so I went to the store and got stuffed peppers and noodles with asparagus to have as my snacks. My breakfast and lunch are so light so I can have more calories in my 10:00 o'clock and 2 snacks.

Good morning, I'm stiff and sore, Beka is slower then molasses in January, have 3 loads of laundry and they are predicting hail, sounds like Monday morning.

As for PB in smoothies. Have you tried PB2? It is powdered peanut butter. They took all the fat out of it and you rehydrate it with water. I don't like it to eat peanut butter, but it works good in cooking. I use to get it on line, but saw it in a health food section of a grocery store this week.

That all sounds YUMMY, watch the PB for calories, but I usually eat 1/2 TB in flat bread for 150 calories (sticks to the ribs for a long time;-)) Soy seems to bother me but I'd try it. Yesterday I put Coconut Milk in my smoothie for 60 calories and that seemed to keep the hunger away.

My boss got me some Soy Protein, and told me to add a little peanut butter and non fat yougurt to it with skim milk.

She uses it just before she exercises and swears by it. Any thoughts if this is good to lose weight with?

Smoothies full of veggies have helped control my mindless eating. I fill up on smoothies right before dinner; last night, for 150 calories, it was 3 cups of water, celery, tomato, green pepper, apple then added flavor with dry Kool-Aid.

just read on SP to try 1tb. of dry sugar-free pudding for flavoring

I know I can't pronounce all the ingredients in the Kool-Aid or pudding so I will need to find other ways to flavor but for now this is helping.

Was a rough night, that’s ROUGH night with my mom, she was sick all night, think that’s over and she is on the mend. So I slept in and feel better than I expected. Mom is up and did a few arm raises and leg kicks so we are onto the rest of our day.

It's day 2, I've been counting veggies/fruit with my goal at 10 daily servings.
3-4 months ago this is what got me losing again so we are repeating the veggie smoothies.

It was trail mix with M&M's for me ... but still in calories okay. Today I'm enjoying reading on my Kindle, something I don't do terribly often.

It was close to 50 today, so I walked 3 miles outside this afternoon. I was at the hair bender this morning getting coloring and a cut. Looks so much better!

My most favorite thing that happened today was fitting back into my size 14 jeans!! emoticon I haven't lost a pound in four weeks but the inches are coming off. Okay, I'll be totally honest, the jeans are just a bit snug ... but oh so wearable. I called my daughter with the big news ... had to share it!! emoticon

Read up on what to do about arthritis flare up and did it so now Hubby is feeling better. Who would have thought a little ibuprofen and a heating pad could make him better. Seeing him getting better takes the stress out of my life now if I could just win the lottery.

Today was tax prep day for us, so we were gone most of the day. I still got my walking in before we left. My hubby is great about helping me get the time I need to get it done. I knew we were going to eat out at a steakhouse tonight, so I sat down and planned my day before a lick went into my mouth this morning. I stayed on track and enjoyed my steak w/onions and mushrooms, side salad with blue cheese, and a piece of Texas toast. YUM!! I still have a few calories left. It can be done!! emoticon emoticon

Kathryn so sorry for your stress and worry. I get "bed ridden" a lot due to my arthritis and I know it is so tough on my family.
I avoid ER's and hospitals as best I can. Since my arthritis is a chronic condition (OA), the treatment at a hospital can't provide a "fix me" that last.
I'm so sorry you are stressed. I hope and pray your DH flare-up is soon to be improved.

I have been under a lot of stress for the last or so. My Hubby who is only 68 has been bedridden with arthritis. I have been trying to get him to go to the hospital but he keeps saying tomorrow. I hope he will soon I worry so about him.
