Oh, believe me Carol. I am not giving up. I have come too far in this journey. I would have had only about 20-25 more lbs. to go before my sabotage. I am going to do that cleanse later this week, as I am working tomorrow and don't like to do that sort of thing with this very physical job. The day after I do my 2 day cleanse I will buckle down to my tracker again. I also have a fitbit that helps steer me right. Thank you so much for your kind words and advice of encouragement. I will let you know how I did. I will add you as a friend if you don't mind.
Laura

Kelsey, Are you planning your day on your Nutrition Tracker first thing in the morning emoticon When I came back to Spark in May, I took a hard look at some of the things that may have been sabotaging my efforts in the past - one of those was not using my Nutrition Tracker to its full potential. That little tool is my lifeline and the only reason I am now in a size 8, heading for a 6 emoticon I never thought I'd see an 8 again but, by golly, my friend the tracker helped me get there emoticon

Here a suggestion - which, of course, you can take or leave emoticon If you aren't already doing this, try to plan out your day on your nutrition tracker first thing in the morning. Make sure you include 2 snacks - you can add an extra meal on your tracker. I added a meal called "afternoon snack." Then build a day with 3 good meals and 2 satisfying snacks. I eat an afternoon snack most days and I always eat a snack at 9:30 p.m. When I do this I am never hungry. I also drink a lot of water and homemade iced tea throughout the day and evening. I make my iced tea with green tea, white tea, and black tea and I love fresh lemon in it. If I want it sweet, I use a teaspoon of Truvia - a sweetener made with Stevia. Mostly I drink it unsweetened though. Also, be sure you are getting enough filling foods in your meal planning. For me, carbs don't stick to the ribs - they just help fat stick to my butt emoticon I don't believe in eliminating any food from your diet because we need a balance of carbs, fats, and proteins to be healthy and lose weight and keep it off emoticon So, what I try to do is eat starchy carbs in smaller portions and not at every meal. I ate Cheerios with skim milk for breakfast today and so for lunch I ate a large apple with 2 Tbsps. of peanut butter. Surprisingly, this not only sticks with me but it is delicious too emoticon Well, I hope this has given you some ideas but everyone has different taste buds so you'll need to experiment a little. The snacks are important - I think because they keep you from feeling deprived. Good luck and don't give up emoticon

Thanks Carol. I have the evenings licked, as I have an iPad and play strategy and words games. It is through the day when I am home. I tend to nibble.

It is always hard to start, or to get back on track when we deviate emoticon , but the good news is that it can be done emoticon What works for one may not for another but what I've done when I've occasionally gone to the dark side emoticon is to start the morning with a good breakfast and get it into my Nutrition Tracker right away. Then I get away from food - go for a walk or go shopping - just go. Then I do the same thing for lunch - tracking everything I eat - ditto for dinner. The evenings can be difficult times. Find something to do with your hands in the evening - computers are good because they keep your hands busy. You could write a blog about your day on your Spark Page. It doesn't matter if you play the piano, crochet, knit, or give the dog a bath. Just keep your hands busy. I don't find reading helpful because I was one of those people who eat while they read emoticon This isn't any "magic" solution - it's just common sense - when you are busy doing other things you can't eat emoticon .

Once you get back on track - tracking your food, getting in your activity, and being Sparked, it will all come as naturally as breathing, and you won't want to ruin all the good you've done that day emoticon . Don't let the little setbacks get you down. You have to establish patterns - good patterns - just as we all established bad ones in the past! emoticon The weight won't come off overnight but it will come off - if we use our Spark tools, read the articles and learn, take the quizzes and see our knowledge increasing, talk to our teammates and vent, share, care and cheer each other on emoticon You have to learn to have FUN with this. This is not a punishment - this is something you CHOSE to do because you wanted to do something wonderful for yourself and the people who care about you. Jump on the Spark train today and no matter what you did or didn't do last week, today is a brand new day and you have been blessed with the opportunity to try again! emoticon

Try making just one or two changes in your life. Last week I gave up soft drinks from Monday - Friday and did 20+ minutes of exercise for 3 days. My reward - 1 pound lost. Not much, I know, but cutting back on Cokes has made me feel better, especially since I replaced them with water and diet green tea. Small steps!

I am with you kjeanc61. I am having a terrible time getting back on track since Aug. holidays. I have big intentions every day and blow it by lunch. I just got back from a Carribean holiday and thought it would give me incentive, but no. I am going to try a cleanse later this week when I will be home for a couple of days and nothing on the go and hope that will kick start me again.

Wondering if anyone else had trouble getting started on their weight loss. I am having a very difficult time sticking to my eating plan. Any suggestion would help.
