I was half listening to what was on the TV when a commercial for Jenny Craig came on. The spokesperson said, "You don't have to think about it or use your mind. Jenny does it all for you. I just ate chicken and mashed potatoes."
Jenny is just one of several "diets" that sell you packaged foods so you can lose weight, and most people do lose weight on this type of program. Unfortunately, most people don't maintain that weight loss over the long run - because they didn't have to think! You send them money, they send you little packages of food - no thinking involved. So, I guess if you are going to be buying little packages of food for every meal for the rest of your life, this kind of thing is fine for you. However, if you are going to reach a point where you have to start making your own meals, and "thinking" about how those meals fit into your new lifestyle of slim and healthy eating, then maybe Spark is the way to go.
This is a process of re-education and developing a new relationship with food. I can eat chicken and mashed potatoes tool. I just "think" about how to prepare it in a healthy way and eat the correct portion, and that's not hard because I have all the help I need right here with my Nutrition Tracker, Spark Recipes, and other Spark Tools.
