back to the team. I am also a smoker and plan to quit. When I joined SP, I set my weight loss goal for 10-15 lbs less than I needed in order to accommodate for the expected weight gain when I do quit.

There are two options regarding committment - your either IN or your OUT. There is no such thing as life in-between.
A person who wants something will find a way..
A person who doesn't will find an excuse...
Here is luck to you. Smoking is a nasty habit with such health problems.
You can do this.
Welcome to the team.....I gave it up 9 years ago...best thing I ever did. Well worth persevering.
Here in the UK its banned in all public places.I have to say it's a bit sad to see people standing outside in all weathers so that they can have a fag.
Of course it's great in the pubs now.
Don't start those awful things again.
Thanks for your support !!!

I WISH I could quit smoking. Have tried so many times and ways..........cold turkey, Nicorette, Chandix, the patch, hypnosis (twice). I smoke between 1-1/2 and 2 pks. a day. Gaining MORE weight is my greatest fear cuz I can barely fit in the clothes I have now.

Welcome to the team! I'm glad you're here.
I never smoked, but I watched my sister go through it, and she gained weight too. That was 3 years ago, and she is back to her best weight. She hikes in the mountains and works out in the gym.

Welcome back. I quit a 3 pack a day habit 10 yrs ago and gained about 30 lbs. Mainly because I have always been skinny and developed some lousy eating habits. I haven't touched a cigarette since and am so glad. How do people afford them these days? I am slowly losing the weight and with the help of all y'all I know I'll reach my goal. So hang in there. You can do it.

Welcome back. I have been an ex-smoker over 5 years and it feels wonderful not to have to worry about that habit anymore. Best of luck!

I joined SparkPeople last year and kind of quit after a week. Well, I quit smoking a month ago and added 15 more pounds so I decided to come back to SparkPeople. Wish me luck.
