Wow 7 pounds! I'm so proud of you! I was lucky this long weekend as the 28th was hubbies birthday and he wanted to go camping. There were many hikes and we hiked each day. Ate well. I decided since this is the first to weigh in. I lost 2 pounds. I'd been working on it really hard for a few weeks and could not get that scale to budge but when I let loose a little and moved a lot, I lost it! Yeah, onward, ever onward!

HI VOLLMELD / Diane
Thank you for the 'CONGRATS'...
So you are up late too. I can't believe the amount of time I spend on SP. I think that keeps me out of the kitchen.

Hi MACGIRL730 / Suzanne
I think your Mother-In-Law will understand if she knows that you are trying to be 'good'.
AND if not, claim to be to full for dessert and ask to take a piece home...just don't eat it. :o)
Hang in there and have a wonderful weekend!

Congratulations on your 7 pound weight loss, that is truly an accomplishment!

I think I am finally getting into a good "healthy lifestyle" routine! I really hope this weekend doesn't knock me off of my "mountain" so to speak. We have an 80th Birthday Party for my Father-in-law on Sunday, My Mother-in-law is throwing a big dinner party and she is an Excellent baker!! Now this is going to be a challenge! She is also one of those "save room for dessert" kind of people! lol

I will try hard to have just a little, so as to please her and not totally wreck what I have going!

Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it! emoticon

Have a Great Weekend Everyone!

Hi all - Saturday morning, hoping to go for a bike ride. The rain just poured, but I'm hoping there will be a break long enough for me to take a ride.
Thought I would share last night's dinner with you. emoticon
Went to an Italian restaurant that has been in the area for ages. Great Food. At first I was looking at the Low Fat Spinach Lasagne...and then my friend's husband pointed out the Broccoli Rabe with Sausage and Rigatoni on the menu. So guess what my choice was? :o)
I did very good... sampled only a couple of the Rigatoni. Had just a serving of the Sausage. The Sausage was about the size of Quarters and 1/4 inch or less thick. The Broccoli Rabe was great, especially the way it was prepared. YUMMY! (I just love my greens)
The one thing I won't do again is have a glass wine. Boy that does do a number on me.
AND the best part is that I came home with a doggy bag. Believe me I could have easily eaten that monstrous pile of delicious food, but I didn't. :o)
Guess I better get moving if I want to take advantage of the early hour.
Have great SP day!

Also, be aware that most restaurants will make changes to your food if you wish.

For example, last night we went to Chilis. Ordered a Cajun Grilled Chicken Sandwich, no onion strings, sauce on the side, and steamed vegs rather than fries. They had no problem doing it. So you can request reduced oil in prep, dry woking in Chinese Restaurants, and if they offer a food as part of another, you can usually modify what you order.

Good luck!

These are great tips that have helped me as well. I usually eat half of my meal when eating out, but I had not thought of asking the waiter to package half before it even comes to the table. I will definitely add that to my bag of tricks.

That's an old WW trick that I still use. I also do the carry-out box at the start of the meal. If I am eating with friends, I often have a piece of fruit or some clear soup before I leave the house. I'm not so ravenous then and can make good choices about food and portions. I try to never go out to eat hungry, which sounds odd but it works.

Another tip I have used is to stick my fork into the salad dressing on the side. I get the taste but end up using much less dressing than just pouring it on.

One trick I have used in the past is to have the waiter split my portion and put it in a box before serving me so I am not tempted. I tend to pick if it is in front of me and can end up eating a lot more than I planned that way. I don't miss it if I don't see it.

Parties and events like these pop up when ever I'm trying to make a change and boy do they test my will power.
I recently survived a Birthday party that oodles of foods that I like but are bad for me. There was also a tasty looking chocolate cake with mousse filling and some yummy bavarian cream puffs. Not even a taste. (Believe me it was hard NOT to sample a little)
I've been out to lunch twice this week and have managed to make good selections (I think anyway) from the menu.
This Friday night I have a dinner date with some close friends. I think we are doing Italian...so I will be avoiding the pasta. Lord give me strength and watch my portions. I have no problem about cleaning my plate. It will be nice to be able to go home with doggy bag for a change.

Anyway, I weighed in this morning. Since I started with SP (7/28)I have lost 7 pounds. I'm not going to let any meal jeopardise that loss if I can help it.

Hope that the weekend is not to 'food challenging' for you and you are able to enjoy it and one another.
Have a safe and fun weekend!
