Where is the new link to the new chat page?

Thanks for the birthday messages. Nothing exciting happened, got a couple cards from residents and the card players sang Happy Birthday to me when I went down to get my junk mail out of my mailbox. I felt out of sorts all day long and was glad when the day was over. Elinor came to visit me last night for a while. She had a card for me but in the process of looking for her tape, she put the card down and now can't find it. I told her she will find it eventually. She is trying to unpack.

Dale,

I have the fitbit zip and it also has the rubber case put on your waistband cover but to sync it I just need to sit it close to the USB, not take it out of the case. Hmmm, maybe you have to uninstall the first one? Something is very wrong with this picture. I hope you get it solved soon.

Annette who is in charge of birthday's just brought me my card that most of the residents signed. Our monthly birthday party is the last Monday of the month. I have no plans for today so far. Neighbors Sam and Maria called me this morning to wish me happy day.

That's what it says, that the USB isn't plugged, in but I plugged in what they sent me. There's also a tiny piece that doesn't seem to go with anything else I have to ask about. My FitBit Ultra was much sturdier and better constructed than this replacement gadget (Fitbit One). The FitBit One is housed inside a rubber case that is also the attachment clip to go on your waste band, plus it must be removed all the time to get charge the thing. I know that you bought a different model from either of these.

As far as your family history, it certainly makes sense now that you explained it. But you DID change and that means EVERYTHING. You've got great genes from your grandparents and ought to have another 25 years.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY once again. Do SOMETHING special for yourself.

Dale,

Thanks for the birthday wish and balloons. My mom died at 37, my dad at 67 and my brother at 64. Mom and dad were both heavy smokers and alcoholics, my brother was a crazy iron worker, drank and smoked all the time and ended up with Emphysema on oxygen 24/7. That's why I thought I would never live to 71 but I changed my life and do the healthy thing now. Basically grandparents mostly lived to their 90's. So that's why I am still here.

Regarding your fitbit. Did you plug in your USB that came with the new one? That may be why it won't work. Just a thought.

BRENDA,
H A P P Y BIRTHDAY to YOU! emoticon
Why wouldn't you have thought you'd live til 71 for goodness sakes. It's not that old. Unless it has something to do with your ex... Anyway, once you knew better you did better taking care of yourself, which is always good enough.

BONNIE,
The Israeli sandals are fabulous. I've owned 5 pair of them along the way. I'm with BRENDA asking why you have such balance challenges. (Do you still use the cane? You haven't mentioned it lately.)

MACI,
Great job with your tennis. I know it gives you a tremendous amount of joy. Sorry to hear that your daughter got loaded. It's never a good thing.

The beautiful morning here has shifted to cloudy and windy but I'll walk anyway. My FITBIT replacement came but when I went to change it over on the computer from the first one it said something isn't plugged in and won't let me. So I have no record of what I've done from the new device. I'm wearing them both and you know the first one acts totally wonky... This is frustrating. I'll have to try and get someone on the phone to problem solve the changes.

Working on laundry for the second day in a row. Time to make up a new bed.

Maci,

Good job winning the regionals! What a great team you have. So what if you have to sweep your own courts and bring your own food to the courts. A towel boy? Ask one of your children to participate when they are not in school. Such fun.

Bonnie,

I had to look up pronate in my old dictionary and it isn't in there so I looked it up on line. I guess I have it too, having flat feet but I have never had any trouble walking or being on my feet for long periods of time. But I have never been overweight per se, and the article says it is more pronounced in overweight people. I do have bunions so can't wear tight shoes or heels but for the most part I am doing fine on my flat feet. I have some heels that are for weddings and funerals. I call them my 'sit down shoes'. LoL

Today is my birthday. 71 is the magic number. I never thought I would live this long or I would have taken better care of myself. LoL My oldest son called me last night and woke me from a sound sleep so I didn't answer it. I didn't sleep well the night before and I was exhausted. He can call me during the day when he is, hopefully, sober. I cannot deal with his drinking. Mostly he doesn't make much sense. At least he calls me when he remembers, I never hear from my other four. He will be 52 the 10th. I have not plans for the day other than washing my hair.

Have a great day!

Hi Ladies, wow am I behind in everything. It's been one of those months. Today I woke up w/a cold. Oh life feels exhausting sometimes. After reading all your posts I came to a conclusion, I have not been taking as much care of myself as I should. The old "putting myself at the bottom of the list" No worries, I know how to change it, all I need to do is be like you!!! Awsome.

Easter was nice, the night before though we had high fam drama w/my DD. Basically she got to drunk and went off on us all, it was lovely, than the next day we all had a bright sunny easter day at her house. That and the mom issue, plus life and I am ready to draw the shades. better yet, time to focus abit on being healthy and happy. Life is to good to isolote.

WE won! We won regionals yesterday, our whole tennis team carpooled to Ramona, 1.5 hrs away to play the inland division winners, We ended up sweeping it! (all teams won) woohoo. To get to division we had to win our area (north coastal) , than play the winners of the (south coastal) and win!, than play the winners of the inland. It was an awsome thing to be apart of, our club has never won it before in over 30 yrs!

We are kind of a badnews bears team, we play in a local park , bring food to share, etc. We have to sweep our courts before matches, etc. Most come from beautiful country clubs that cater our events, some even have towel boys. They all have coaches, clinics etc. We just all practice together one day a wk. Most are as dedicated to tennis as I am though.

Not sure what I am going to do about the travel issue yet, I think I came up w/a solution we might be able to all live with. Hubs and I drive ourselves and meet the girls in NM, on the date we leave for the caverns, than we can spend a couples days longer and visit w/ Aunt and Uncle alone before we head back. Haven't thrown out this idea yet, just resting it for a little while.

Bonnie- love your comment about vanilla and choc ice cream! How nice to have such a great experience clothes shopping,

Dale- Never thought about relationships being like you mentioned. NO Need= people move on w/their lives and grow. It makes it all so smooth this way. No hurt feelings etc. Thanks for the new and great idea!

Brenda- Great job passing out the reeses. I found a bag of reeses eggs on sale for 99cents and decided hummm I want to try these, OMG they were amazing, i just kept popping them. I tried to share them but noone took any, so guess who ended up eating them all? I don't dare go back and see if they are on sale now!

Fiona, Darlene, Sunny, Cat, Sammi, Mich- Nice to hear from you too! Glad most of you had fun easters, and enjoyed some good food. I am off to work on the challenge, yesterday was Weigh in day, and frankly I forgot, so gotta go do some catch up!

Have a great day all! Life is good, sometimes we need to just slow down and see the roses! Time for a day inside day!

It is getting late and I have to get up to watch Ellee and Gracee in the morning, so this will be a bit short.

Had my appointment with my psychologist this afternoon, and it went well. I am doing better mentally, physically and emotionally.

Bought new shoes today for my trip to Florida. I am just about all set. Looking forward to swimming a lot.

I am pretty sure that I am going to be able to walk some, so I wanted good shoes so I don't cause problems. I have a very high arch, and a narrow foot, and heel. It is difficult for me to buy shoes that I can walk in other than New Balance Athletic shoe.

Tried a new brand that the lady suggested that is made in Israel. they have a much higher arch than any other shoe I have tried, so I do not have to have the arch support in them. Trying the sandals out around the house to make sure they are comfy. I can take them back if they don't work as long as I only wear them inside.

In a couple of days, I will try on the shoes and see how they work. Because of the high arches, my feet pronate in, and it really causes problems with my gate. I still pronate some even with the arch supports, but it is much better.

It makes my walk awkward, and makes me fall more easily. So, I am very careful about shoes.

It was cold but sunny today, so I enjoyed running my errands and such.

Did 30 minutes on the stationary bike, and then did my arm exercises, and my exercises on the inversion table. Feeling pretty good. More hopeful.

God Bless and have a lovely day tomorrow my friends.

Bonnie

Dale,

I will go along with what others think about re-naming the thread for three months. Myself, I think it is a good idea instead of changing every month.

My neighbor Sam and I went for a walk down the hill to Rite Aid to buy half price Easter candy for our exercise today. LoL Coming back we walked all the way to the top of the hill and were sitting beside the road on top of the barrier to rest when the fire department and ambulance came screaming up the hill but kept on going. We thought maybe they would stop for us. LoL Sam's thinking was that if we walk all the way to the top, then we would be going home down hill. It was much easier doing that. Must be a psychological thing. We weren't huffing and puffing when we came in.......

It's another beautiful day that requires shirt sleeves and no jacket.

Michele,

Sorry to hear you are having so much rain. Don't send it our way as we have had our share for a while.

I have been sorting stuff the last few days and in the process have made extra room on my closet shelf and haven't tossed anything out. I found some storage containers were only half full. Now I have three empty plastic totes. Am trying to get the cardboard boxes out of my apartment because I can see what is in the totes.

No MICHELLE, we're still writing in the March thread as far as I can see. I don't know how others feel about my suggestion that we make the threads last over 3 month time slots instead of every month. FIONA pointed out that it can't be by season since her country has the opposite seasons from the U.S., so I'm waiting to hear if it can read: "APRIL, MAY and JUNE" or "Months 4, 5 & 6" and, maybe someone else has a better idea. I think it is just FIONA who starts the new threads.

Meanwhile, you say you're stuck with plenty of rain? As a bike rider, that has to be especially inconvenient for you. Do you wear a slicker or can you manage an umbrella or just how do you handle it when you must be out in lousy weather?

All that work in the garage space yesterday made me want to clean up after myself here today. I've got 2 out of 3 loads of laundry done which will include a change of bed linen into tomorrow cause I've run out of time today. I managed to get a walk in around Wilde Lake with both my dog and Mom's this afternoon. Then there's a Condo Board meeting I'll attend in less than one hour (6:30).

Enough for now. I'm tired.

Fiona,
Shoot, I forgot it's opposite for you. There must be a way other than having a separate thread 12 times a year. April, May, June. How about the three just put together like that?

CAT,
Not everyone celebrates the same traditions. You did what worked for you.

SUNNY,
It is nice that you got together on Saturday. I know how major gatherings wind up being too much effort when family is spread apart and we get older to boot. Traveling is no longer any fun.

BRENDA,
Thanks for hoping my son settles his life somehow and soon. You're right that all this moving around with temporary measures eventually adds up to bigger bucks than what is saved plus, the energy expended is humongous!

The rain was light and I had a rain hat just in case it was needed that I used. The actual moving truck was inside the garage so loading it stayed dry. AND it took all day. In order to be sure things were packed properly and in order, he started a little on Saturday night. I got there before 1pm yesterday with spare boxes and tape in tow then insisted I work on his office space. Once the car was filled up I was free to lend a hand with non weight carrying chores. Even saying, "okay, what's next?" several times helped him refocus. I left at 6pm while he was still loading into the night. Scott came down for a couple of hours to lend a hand, too.

Once I got home my mother was kind enough to share some dinner she had made and it really was appreciated. She eats so healthily, and my body craved her food. Then I unpacked half the stuff in the car. Scott will return to get the trunk boxes that remain there. And though both truckloads were supposed to be completed last night before midnight, Nate called it quits last night, putting off the second load and the towing of two cars for today. (He has motorcycles and lifts and car engines among so many other things!)

But enough about my Easter Sunday exploits. I've finished my mug of coffee and since Nate slept on my couch last night, I shared the pot with him. Time to brew a second mug for us both. The landscapers are out there this morning working on our grounds. I made over 12,000 steps yesterday with all that moving about, and it looks good outside today. Bill paying time! I'll think about this: Maybe I can give him a little more help this afternoon cause today he's alone to load the rest.

Enjoy your Mondays,
Dale

We had roast lamb with all the trimmings etc. It will be left overs for hubby and me tonight as two of the cherubs didn't end up coming so there is plenty.

Hope each of you have a wonderful Easter!!!!!! emoticon

Seems that most families have traditional meals on holidays such as Easter.
We have none here . . . ( for 28 years, I was in a cult/religion that didn't celebrate Easter or eat meat, so the day was pretty much ignored. Yeah, I know, sick! )

This morning, hubby prepared whole wheat waffles topped with fruit sauce (blueberries, blackberries and strawberries) along with pork sausage and eggs. 452 yummy calories made a great big lump in my happy tummy.

Gotta get out there a move it today!!!!

Had a lovely dinner with the family on Saturday, it was nice for all of us to get together. Each year I notice that we talk on the phone but do not do the traveling to meet up. We get along pretty well and it is great when everyone is on best behavior but I do miss the Holliday get togethers. Just a sign of our age and interests and that we live in widely spaced cities. Hope everyone had a great weekend

Dale,

I hope Nate can get things straightened out soon. All this moving of stuff can be very aggravating as well as costly. Maybe the rain will hold off until you are finished.

Happy Easter everyone! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I forgot to step on the scale this morning. And if I remember correctly, my walking minutes were 240 or better for the week. What's on my mind is that Nate is packing up a U-Haul again to get his stuff out of that garage by midnight. The bottom line was that he (and the landlord) didn't agree on the lease. So I'm going down there to at least pack up what I can of his office and take what I can in my car back to Columbia. But we're scheduled for rain at any time, which will make it really 'challenging'.

Happy Easter to all! God Bless.

BRENDA

Hope you enjoyed your walk to Rite Aide. Have a great dinner today, and enjoy your treat you got for yourself.

I am feeling pretty good today, a bit sore from the bike ride, but not bad. Kind of dreary right now, but hoping for some sunshine later.

I am wishing you all a warm and happy Spring! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

MACI,

What conclusion did you reach about your girls' trip. Are you going to go and let DH drive and hang out with uncle or not go at all or go away with DH?

Dale,

I am glad you have Jasmine to hang out with. It is good for both of you.

Our Easter Dinner is at 1. I have the fruit salad almost made. Just have the banana's and apples to slice and add just before serving. Yesterday I walked down the hill to Rite Aid and bought a can of pineapple and a can of mandarin oranges. I don't know what happened that I had none of each in the pantry. I'm using Greek yogurt for the dressing and will add some walnuts too. Some of the food these people make is really scary. LoL

When I went to Rite Aid I also took a stroll down the Easter Candy aisle but didn't buy any. What I did buy was a bag of Reeses assorted mini candy bars and a 12 oz Whitman's Sampler . When I got back I stopped in the Community room and passed out the Reeses to the card players. The rest is in my candy dish. The Whitman's Sampler is mine. It has been probably 20 years since I bought one.

Enjoy the day.

DALE

I totally understand about the teenage years. I was close enough geographically to my nieces that their mom, my mom and I were always the drivers for the cheer leading camps, meets, etc that were in the area of about an hour or so from where we lived. So that was a real advantage. All of the cheer leaders, and the cheer leading coach called the girls mom, mom, my mom grandma, and me Aunt Bonnie. I was so grateful to be able to continue to be a part of their lives in that way.

During the other times of year, I would call them about once a week just to talk to them and let them know I was still in their lives even though they were busy. It really did help.

For many years, from the time they were about 5 years old, I would take them to Cedar Point, a theme park, for their birthday. I think they were 17 when we last went.

My mom started going with us after a few years, and I took her for her mother's day gift. Sometimes we would even get a motel room so we could spend the night. I was very fortunate

Had a good day today. Realized after I posted that I had bought 2 pairs of jeans, and 3 pairs of jean shorts. I will be so cool on my vacation

Had a nice visit with my cousin, and now am home and tired. My knees are stiff from riding the bike, but if it is not raining, I am going out and do it again tomorrow morning.

God Bless my friends

MACI,
No, Jasmine doesn't live nearby. She's a full hour's drive each way, all highways. I agree that they back off when they hit their teens. I expect it. I'm just here to fill in a need she has. When she doesn't need me anymore I'll accept that. It's the way it is with most relationships. If there's no need, people move on with their lives and grow in different ways.

I took another walk once I finished eating with my mother. The play was good and neither of us had had lunch, so at 4:15 we hit a restaurant. What a pleasure to have the time moving toward 6pm and it all bright and warm outside. But because I ate with Mom I don't think Scott will come up with anything to do. It's 8pm and all is quiet.

Enjoy your Easter Sundays,
Dale

I agree with all of you about the trip. Your mom really is being unreasonable. Too bad to spoil it for everyone. If I understand correctly, you and the girls were going to leave Jim at your Uncle's house, right? So sorry you have this issue.

DALE

Glad you are enjoying your visit with Jasmine. I took Ellee to see The Crooks on Thurs and we both really love it. Sorry it was not your cup of tea! We are all different that is for sure. I guess that is why the make Vanilla and Chocolate in ice cream, at least that is what I have always heard!

SAMMI and SUNNY

Thanks for the Easter greetings. You enjoy as well

I have had a really good day. Scotty had to lower the seat on my bike, so I couldn't ride yesterday. I did 30 minutes on the stationary bike, and 8 minutes of a tape from Coach Nicole.

This morning after we got my seat fixed, I rode for a mile or a little more. Was so good to be outside in the sunshine riding.

Went to Catherine's to shop because my jeans are wearing out, and I need clothes for my trip to Florida.

Came home with 4 pairs of jeans, two are capri length, and a couple of pretty tops. I have ordered a few other things on line, so should be all ready for the trip.

My cousin had knee surgery, she came home this week, so I am going to pick up a couple of good salads and take them to her house so we can visit and eat together.

Have a good rest of the day my friends.

Thanks ladies for your comments. I think we are all on the same path. It's funny how sometimes things don't come into perspective until you write it down! Mucho Gracias!

Dale , you sound like you are really enjoying having Jasmine around. How nice for you both. Does she live nearby? Can you make it a reg thing? Better make the memories before she's a teen! The only thing more important than anything is "boys!" at age 13+! I'm sitting here next to Blake (11) he is playing a video game, it feels good just to be near him.

This morn he woke me up saying "Gma, can you give my shoulders a massage?" I said sure what's up, he said I am so tense, my lil sister makes me so angry. I told him to relax tense men have heart attacks, he said "No Gma they drink than have heart attacks" it's sad he knows that, his dad is a big drinker. Oh well thank god he is here to share that w/me.

Today hubs went to the carnival and it was already up and done. We are gonna meet our gkids there and watch them in the jumpies, Oh life is good!

159.5 (skipped dinner last night, and didn't miss it)

Yesterday was great in my book. Jasmine takes out Oliver when she wakes and feeds the animals, then makes herself breakfast. She's 11 so she's old enough to do lots of stuff. So I get up without having to do more than make my normal pot of coffee.

We walked around Centennial Lake together in the late morning, which was just lovely. It left the whole day open from noon on to be productive. Having Jasmine with me motivated me to do a bunch of errands I've put off for ages. Her company makes a difference. We had lunch with Scott at a deli that has a fabulous salad bar, so I loaded up on 'healthy' (!) Early evening my girlfriend joined the 3 of us to see a kids' movie called Croods. I didn't care for it and Jas fell asleep during it. But Scott was pleased with the film. ...Different strokes.

Cynthia is on her way to pick Jasmine up and I'll go to see a play in Baltimore with Mom this afternoon. Tonight I'll do something or other with Scott. It doesn't seem likely that I can get a walk in (though there's a small chance I can take one when I get back).

SAMMI, BONNI, MACI, FIONA, MICHELLE, SUNNY and ALL the others here, I'm sending you each a big hug.

Dale

Maci,

As I see it you don't have a problem. Your mother does. Jim bought you the car for your birthday and he should be able to go and be the driver and hang out with uncle. Your mother is being very unreasonable and it sounds like she doesn't like men. You don't need to make her problem yours. I would leave mom home and go with my husband.

Hi ladies, happy easter wkend! Easter plans are always fun, pool party at my DD;s mobile home park. Complete w/Mexi buffet! Carne Asada BBQ, fun in the pool/jacuzzi all day, easter egg hunt for the kids etc. Looking forward to it!

Tomm hubs is gonna go help set up the easter carnival at our local church. Than we are gonna be w/the gkids enjoying it. Afterwards we are gonna rest!

I cked out afew days, rested, didn't even look at the computer, didn't play tennis a few days, had gkids constantly this wk, baby john (3 mos) and the rest of the babies hung w/me while hubs remodeled my DD;s home a few days, and my DD;s worked. Life was busy but in a good way.

Please read below: I think that after writing it though I may have my answer, I think I may have to skip this event. It will really disappoint my Aunt. (she's been sending me plans for wks) my mom will be pist i am not going, but I just can't support this kind of attitude from my mom. I have seen her do it to many times before, she won't go anywhere w/most of the men in our family. (jim has always been the only exception) She won't stay at her sisters because of her hubs in NM either. Oh well, can't change anyone, have to do what feels right to me.

Hi all, I have been missing in action too! I have a big problem I have been trying to avoid, and I really need some advice... Please help me.

I am going on a trip w/my mom, gdaughter and niece, in June to New Mexico. (my aunt's uncles home) We'll we just bought a new car that seats 7, us girls are planning go for a few days to Carlsbad caverns. My mom rode in my car and said "Great Maci you drive, this car is great for our trip." Here is my delima.... My hubs got really excited that there was enough room for him to drive w/us. He called my Uncle and said "I'm gonna come hang out w/you while the girls are at the Caverns, we can golf, etc." We have always planned to go there for a visit. My Uncle and Aunt were really excited that he was gonna drive us girls, and uncle kenny and him are gonna fish etc.

Well my mom said yes that's gonna be nice having Jim drive us. (that was 2 days ago) Today she tells me that he is not invited to drive there w/us. (He has always gone w/us in the past and it's always been a great time) She says I can choose to go w/out him or not go. She says she wants a girls trip only.

I see both sides: There is girls trips, but I think him staying home w/Uncle while we run off is a girls trip enough. I feel like I would be letting my mom and I would hurting (disrespecting) my husband, if I go w/o him. He has just recently retired and we have always talked about going to NM and have always invited my mom, even though we would rather go alone. My mom has asked us to go on many trips w/us and we never tell her no! even our first trip to Europe for 3 wks we booked already! I could never hurt her like that, now I cannot do the same to my hubs.

I go on girls trips w/friends occasionally, but when I do it's girls only, everywhere. They are not family, we are not taking our car, and they are something that I am invited to by others. he takes guy trips occasionally, to see Nascar, etc. It's going to see family that we both love thats' the issue, somewhere we have been invited to many times, and have always talked about going. What is your take girls??

Info: i see my mom all the time, she is young, only 67, lives by me, and we do lots of things together.

Michele,

You can read about the Nutribullet here: (Just highlight, copy and paste the following link to learm more.) http://www.nutribullet.com/index.php?r=sit
e/faq

I've made a couple drinks and they filled me up. I think this will be good for a quick breakfast or lunch. The texture is different than a smoothie, but it's not bad. Fresh or frozen fruit, veggies and water are the basics. I just got it a day ago, so I've not tried many of the drinks. These unique nutrition-packed beverages should kick start my personal health reform. emoticon

Glad you were able to enjoy your time with your "little one" Can't beat that.

I have a lot of "nieces and nephews" who are not by blood either. Some of them are relatives, and a lot are just kids of friends. We have been in each others lives since their birth in most cases. I love the sound of "Aunt Bonnie".

DARLENE

I don't actually have any children, so as I just said, I am "Aunt Bonnie". The children I babysit for are the children of my twin nieces and their husbands. The two families live side by side, so I am there for whomever needs me that day. I have Gracee and Ellee more than Max and Brielle because Christy and Grisson, parents of the first two, work daytime hours, and into the evening. Angie and Ronnie are a school counselor and a firefighter/ems respectively. So they are both home a lot more either one or the other.

I retired 9 years ago on June 1st, Ellee and Max both turned 9 this winter,Gracee will be 7 on July 2, and Brielle turned 6 on Dec 24th.

Now that they are all 4 in school, I just go a couple of days and get them off of the school bus. Glad because I would miss them if I didn't see them often.

BRENDA

Hope your dinner is a success, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY on Tuesday! Begin celebrating right away! WOO HOO.

Marilyn cleaned the house this morning, Yea! I ad moved the bed around last night to give me more room for the stationary bike. I thing I am going to like it.

Went to the Credit Union, then to Dr Mike for adjustments. He even adjusts my knees. We decided today to do ultra sound and electrical stim on both knees and see if that will help.

MICHELLE

Enjoy that your husband is doing the "cooking" on Easter. I'll bet that cake will be delicious. Have a great time.

Wishing all a lovely Easter weekend, if you celebrate this holiday.

Going out to ride my bike now.

Brenda I hope you have a good time at your Easter celebration. I don'tmuch like ham, either.

Dale, who is "Cynthia"? How good that you can spend so much time with your grandchildren. How was Grandparents' Day?

Darlene, what is "Nutribullet"?

Today is cloudy, dreary looking outside. Tomrrow, Easter, after church we will bbq if it doesn't rain. Tad, my husband is going to make hamburgers & hotdogs on the grill. I have made a traditional lamb cake that my mom always used to make. I have a steel mold that my older sister sent me years ago.

Easter is so early this year and it is going to be close to 70. Usually rains. One year it was on my birthday, April 2nd. We are having an Easter potluck and I am on the clean up committee of two, me and Annette. They asked me to cook the ham but I told them that is not my best thing as I usually burn them. I don't like ham anyway. I signed up to make a fruit salad so there is something I can eat.

I am kitty sitting for Maria, her 13 year old cat named Baby. Baby is staying home so I go in and out to feed and visit with her. Mostly she sleeps on the bed. Maria had to go all the way to Belleview on the other side of Seattle to get a soft lining in her false teeth. Her son picked her up last night and will bring her home tomorrow. He lives closer plus there is no way she can get there from here on the bus in time for her appointment.

Elinor is all moved in now but the phone company screwed up or else Tom forgot to cancel his mom's phone. Elaine's daughter called her yesterday and Vi's phone number (who had the apartment until she died last month) came up on her caller ID. Now neither number works so I will call the phone company later today and see what they say about it.

Have a great weekend everyone. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good morning. I see I didn't get here yesterday but I'm glad to hear about everyone. For those who celebrate, have a wonderful Easter weekend.

JASMINE is here with me this morning. After my meeting Wednesday night CYNTHIA picked me up to go sleep at their house so I'd be able to attend Grandparents' Day at the school. We had a lovely time, taking a picture there of the 3 of us. Then we went out to lunch together and at the last minute JAS was given permission to sleep over. She's reading every word I'm writing right now like a little parrot. We'll go around the lake together with Ollie when I'm done with my coffee and breakfast. Since JAS has a cold coming in I'm not sure yet whether her Mom will be picking her up today instead of tomorrow.

That's it for now,
Dale

Michele, what's it like being in Japan? I've never traveled out of the USA, but I dream of going to other places. Have a wonderful Good Friday and Easter weekend!

Bonnie, like you I babysit my grandchildren ages 4 & 10. My oldest is a precious little boy with DS whom I also homeschool. I love the time I spend with my grandchildren but by the end of the day, I'm exhausted and so happy when their mommy picks them up and takes them home. LOL I've read some on the Nutribullet and I'm excited to see what happens when I use it for one of meals a day. I'll let you know if it works. Have a wonderful Good Friday and Easter Weekend.

DARLENE and LTHOMAS

Welcome to our group. We are all glad to have you. LThomas, I too am a huge fan of The Voice. I think I actually like Usher and Sharika better than Celo and Christina.

The only show I like at least as much if not better is "So You Think You Can Dance". LOVE that show.

MICHELE

We actually are very low on our snowfall totals this winter, a lot of it went right around us. But, it is taking so very long for us to get some lovely sunny and not COLD and WINDY weather.

The kids played with the bubbles and chalk again today, I sat out with them for awhile. but it just became too cold for me so I had to come in the house.

ELIZA

Happy belated birthday. Hope it was very special.

DARLENE

Have never even heard of the Nutribullet. Good luck with using it. Hope it is a help

Had the kids for 3 full days this week, they are on spring break. I am not used to that since they are now all in school. I am bushed tonight! Looking forward to a bit of R & R in the next few days!

God Bless and have a lovely Easter weekend if you celebrate Easter. If not, have a great regular weekend.

emoticon Has anyone ever tried using the NutriBullet? My hubby got us one thinking we could use it to maintain good nutrition as we make our journey for a healthier life. I"m thinking it will come in handy to prepare one of my meals a day. I would love to hear your thoughts on this. emoticon

I also like the warm weather better now as the cold tends to really bother me. I used to love winter!

Another day of swimming. Still trying to get back into the routine of it.

Have a good weekend all!

Darlene, I'm with you --- so ready for warm weather and time spent outside and playing with my plants! The other reason I love the warm is my appetite goes to almost 0. Spent 20 minutes on my recumbent bike. Warming up nicely this morning. Yes!

Dale Hope you had a good time at your g child's house! It's hard to believe that 10 year olds play with iphones! i was stillplaying outside & with dolls when I was that age

Brenda I am like you---I am relatively neat. When we moved from our apt to our house here in Yokohama, I also left the apt cleaner than when I had moved in! I esp like clean bathrooms & a clean kitchen. It's good that E. can now fend for herself. Maybe her anxiety attacks will lessen as she can help herself more?

Sammi, I still can't believe that Fl. gets that cold! I always thought of it as a very warm place, like Az. Good for you for walking, indoors or out!

Darlene, try tracking your food. Evenif you put just 1 candy in your mouth. I started tracking my food on paper, & I couldn't believe how many extra calories i was really consuming! It is working for me.

Today, despite the rain, I will bike ride 40 minutes, uphill one way, to Junko's house (my piano teacher & the leader of the tone chime group) It is only sprinkling, so hopefully, I won't get too wet!

WELCOME NEWBIES!

Okay (sigh), today I am posting mid afternoon instead of in the morning. I met a girlfriend for a sandwich and a visit to catch up on life. She spent 14 days on an Island in Indonesia and was excited to tell me all about it. I walked Wilde Lake yesterday and will do so again today. But that may not fall into place until after I go to the Social Security office nearby. I want a second opinion on some information that was given to me the last time I saw a case worker there.

Today I have 2 12 step meetings to go to and then tonight will get picked up to go to my granddaughter's house (an hour away) to sleep over. They know I like to sleep in the mornings and tomorrow morning Jasmine has a play she's in for "grandparents' day". Then they get out of school at noon and start their spring break. I don't know when I'll be given a lift back home tomorrow but I'd bet money that Jasmine may spend a couple of days and nights with me here. What to do with a 10 year old is tough. She has been playing with my iPhone but that is now off limits to her. She changed my access code without permission and left on a bunch of games instead.

Talk to you again either tomorrow or Friday,
Dale

Happy Wednesday and welcome L. Thomas. What is your first name? You can go to your Spark page and click Edit and sign your name and state where you live and it will be at the bottom of all your posts. It is easier for members to remember your name that way.

The rain came back over night so no sunshine today. At least it isn't very cold.

Michele,

Since we got Elinor's car running I don't have to take her anywhere now. She feels much better since we got her a battery and doesn't have to ask for rides but still has anxiety attacks. She is busy at the other place getting her clothes and whatever else is there. A granddaughter is doing the final cleaning. She is lucky to have all that help. I did my own and it wasn't bad because I keep my place clean all the time. When I move I leave the place cleaner than when I moved in. I still didn't get my deposit back because I had to break my lease to move in here. No big deal.

I have to start tracking my food again, especially since I got my fitbit. Yesterday I ate junk food and the scale told on me this morning! LoL I have only been tracking my fruits and veggies and water so back to the drawing board. Waiting for the day when I will actually get 10,000 steps. So far it has only been 5,000 and that is just walking the halls and stairs here in the building because of so much rain. I only got on the new treadmill once for five minutes. That thing is scary!

Have a great day everyone. Time to grab something for breakfast and head out with Maria to Home Depot.

Welcome Darlene and L.Thomas --- this is a wonderful group of people.

Darlene, have you tried tracking your food yet. When I first joined SP I posted what I ate for a few days and was surprised at the total calories I was eating. It also reminds you of the little bits you grab inbetween meals that you really don't think about. I read labels more now and am eating much better. When I would reach a plateau I would just change things up a bit and finally reached my goals. Actually, I set three goals --- that made it easier for me to reach and keep going to the next.

It was cold when I left for my walk this morning -- 34 --- so we walked inside today. Felt good. Have a most wonderful day Sparklers! Sammi

Good Morning Everyone! I'm trying not to let this snowy weather get me down. Can't wait for sunshine and time outdoors. Recently put an exercise app on my kindle fire. I love being able to do 5-10 minute exercises when I get a break from watching my grandkids. :) My only problem is the scale seems to be going up instead of down. Anyone have any suggestions?

Welcome LThomas! This is a great site.

Brenda, sounds like you have become a chauffeur! Such a wonderful friend you are!

Bonnie, I always bought chalk & bubbles for my kids to play with too! They loved the stuff! Such wonderful memories! You mentioned that winter was long---did you get a lot of snow this year? I have been told there was not a lot in Detroit this year at all. There used to be so much when I was growing up.

Today was so dreary & cold. Hoping tomorrow will be better. I have my piano lesson & tone chime practice tomorrow (Thursday)

Happy Wednesday, all!

The sun came out again today and was in the mid-60's so maybe we will get a spring. I never put winter clothes away as I don't have anywhere to put them so they just stay in the closet.

I'm taking Maria to Home Depot in the morning to pick up a book shelf. She doesn't have a car but takes the bus everywhere. Occasionally she asks for a ride and this is one of them. I don't mind at all.
