April Goals: Track all calories eaten and try to stay under my limit.
Exercise on my elliptical or walk if the weather is pleasant.
Days when the pain in my hip is too bad for cardio, I will strength train w/weights
Be pleasant and helpful to my family and friends.
Think of 2 things I'm grateful for each day.
Take my fish oil vitamins
Drink 8 glasses of water every day.

I think life is not so much about waiting for the storms to be over, as much as it is, learning how to dance in the rain.

I did my end of month weigh-in and lost "only" 1.5 pounds. Well, it's something!
However, I dropped the ball on the meditation this month.
Yanks, I agree, writing it down (where others can see it) sure helps. Thank you all.

Thursday 28 March:

18/20 days foot exercises (5 minutes)
11/10 days cardio/abs (~70-80 min)
10/10 days strength/stretch (~70-80 min)
11/6 times up the Big Hill
180/300 minutes meditation
28/30 days Atkins way of eating (allowing 1 cheat day)
28/31 days vitamins
1/4 lbs lost (starting weight this month: 180)
12/10 exercise DVDs burned to disc

Twice up the Big Hill today, AND did a bunch of errands on foot. Today the knees weren't too bad! I tried to pay attention to my walking technique (feet and legs), and I guess it helped. Thank you for your kind words. People here have been suggesting various things, including a local healer. I still have a couple of days to figure out what exercises to do next month.
Tomorrow some people are walking to a smaller island at low tide. Wish I could go, but my car is still not working, so I don't know how I would get to the starting point (not even sure how to get there). Maybe it will work out somehow. I live in such a beautiful place, but I tend to get caught up in life's daily round of work, housework, etc.--hate to miss an opportunity like this.
Gee, I never thought of myself as team leader. Sorry if I took over. How about if someone else starts the April thread when the time comes. I'll just stand back and ....
Great to see all the new people on here. Congratulations on finding ways to deal with your challenges, everyone!
Laurie

Hi Team and Welcome to all the new posters in this thread!

Looks like this journal needed updating from last friday up to today...lol. Last Friday was Debbie Sieber's Cardio Scuplt Express (38 minutes...circuit training exercises).

Still away from home so my workout below may vary but here goes:

Mon - P90X Shoulder & Arms
Tue - Cardio
Wed - P90X Chest & Back
Thu - Cardio
Fri - P90X Legs & Back (omit back movements)

I still take Sunday & Saturday as "rest" days.

Mon - Still in Dallas county. Did P90X Shoulders & Arms this morning. Used 5 and 10 pound dumbbells where resistance required.

Tue - Cardio day and I used the Leslie Sansone 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk DVD. I did miles 1, 2, and 5. I averaged a 11.6 minutes per mile and did this for 40 minutes.

Wed - P90X Chest & Back done...first half of DVD (27 minutes). The second half is a repeat of the first half exercises. Basically a workout with pushup variety and I had to improvise the back movements using dumbbells since no pull-up bar.

Thu - Worked out using Leslie Sanson 5 Fat Burning Miles DVD again doing miles 2 & 3 this morning.

Hopefully, I will get to fully update my final stats with regards to my goals set for the month of March. Keep moving those bodies everyone!

Yanks, I run indoor and out, depending on the weather. Last weekend I ran outside and I definately find that harder. Last night I ran on my tm as I usually do when it is cold or dark. I get a high from running that I just don't get from anything else. It's love/hate. Sometimes I just hate the thought of doing it, but then after I am done so happy that I did! I am no natural, but I have been running for a few years, really seriously in the last year, and I am proud of myself for sticking with it and improving. And I noticed last night how strong my legs are starting to look. I was thrilled! Thanks for the input. I am still a novice of events, hence the nerves, but my plan is to put my ipod on and just do my thing. It seems like one song equals a quarter mile for me, so 13 songs should get me through the finish line!!

Thursday March 28th,

Goal to accumulate 600,000 steps--634,260--that's not counting today.

Goal to weigh in @ 157 on the 27th--it was 156 yesterday---I do have a tendency to flux , it depends what type of foods I consume. Any how I was extremely gratified with yesterdays results.

Goal to compete in two events for the month---Done!! Well now I wonder what I'll plan for April, Today I ran for 9.8 miles, so that's two days in a row with long runs, there will be no running tomorrow. The temp was a nice 38degrees the wind was of little coincidence, the hills were there just to make it formidable.

Lisa congratulations, on your running accomplishments , just remember on the 7th to" run within yourself " That's why I call them events and not races . Question are you running outdoors or on a TM, I'm just curious.
Laurie take care of that soreness, look at what bferrel went through. We don't need our team leader going down.

Ran 3 miles last night in 36:20...woohoo! My 5K is next Sunday (a week from Easter) and I am ready. My running partner has a back injury and will not be running. I panicked at first, but then regrouped and talked my son into coming with me. I am stoked!

I have spent these past two weeks focusing on small changes to get my positive groove back. It has been fun, but now to the nitty gritty. April 6th I start my weight loss program thru my insurance and I am ready. Time to get busy and get the weight loss going on!!

Wednesday 27 March:

17/20 days foot exercises (5 minutes)
11/10 days cardio/abs (~70-80 min)
10/10 days strength/stretch (~70-80 min)
9/6 times up the Big Hill
180/300 minutes meditation
27/30 days Atkins way of eating (allowing 1 cheat day)
27/31 days vitamins
1/4 lbs lost (starting weight this month: 180)
12/10 exercise DVDs burned to disc

My knees seem worse, and I have to do lots of errands tomorrow by bus/on foot (no car for the moment). So I don't know what kind of shape I'll be in for exercising for the rest of the month. I'll have to figure out what to do for next month. I need to lose more weight to avoid further knee problems and other problems associated with being overweight. Meanwhile, I'll do my end-of-month weigh-in soon.
Congratulations, Yanks! Have fun celebrating.
Good luck this weekend, everyone. I know there will be temptations for some. Not for me. I don't celebrate any holidays--I find them too stressful!

Wednesday March 27th.

Goal to accumulate 600,000 steps---606,613---In the bank.

Goal to weigh in @ 157 on the 27th---well I weighed in twice this am, the first reading was 157.8, the second reading after a long run (8.9 miles) , and some biking and walking was 156 on the nose. So that's the name of that tune.

Goal to participate in two running events this month --The Go For The Green 5k and the ADPH 5k/hm, both completed.

Well it's been a good month, thanks to all of you for your support, maybe by the end of April I'll be back to my old form. emoticon Now it's time to eat anything that's not tied down!!!!!!!!

I am with you, all of these should be my goals, that late night snacking is stopping me, from reaching my goal. I also need to cut down on Carbs., when I track at the end of the day, it should that too many calories are from carbs. Coffee, needs to be cut down also if I could get down to 3 cups a day, I will be happy. Good luck to all of you who are trying to develop better eating habits.

Sunday March 24th.

Goal to accumulate 550,000 steps in a 30 day period, so far 510, 972---It looks as though this one is in the bag. Lets shoot for 600,000, what do you think?

Goal to weigh in @ 157 on the 27th---

Goal to train for a second event in the month--- Well today I ran at a "good" pace, the race started out at 9am, it was a weird setting, with a major road being closed that's where the
race took place. The weather was okay about 28 degrees at the start it was windy when running south to north. Oh by the way I finished first in my age group with a time slower than last weeks event, that's always a plus. Every event is a plus , just to be able to compete is a blessing!!!!

Hello-

Jumping in at the end of the month here so my goals will be for March & April:

Cut coffee down to 2 cups a day: I love it with flavored cream and am addicted!
Stop eating after 8:00PM: Hubby and I are big on having a snack while watching TV
Work out 4-5 days a week: Make it a priority inspite of my busy day.
Drink Water: Doing much better at this but some days I forget.
Stay in calorie range: If I cut out the late night snacking this should be a "peice of cake"
Hold myself accountable by posting on here every day and tracking every day!

Good Luck to everyone!

10/10 days cardio/abs (~70-80 min)
10/10 days strength/stretch (~70-80 min)
9/6 times up the Big Hill

BSHOSH, you met most of your goals, and the rest will happen too. (BTW, Yanks is a gentleman.)
As my knee was still bothering me, I did a Leslie Sansone walking workout on the mini-trampoline this evening, and then an hour of yoga.

Friday March 22nd,

Goal to train for an event on March 24th---This morning my run was 6.3 miles, today I concentrated on technique, by using the reflection of my shadow. Keeping my arms almost level with my waist and making sure my posture was slightly tilted forward. It was 28 degrees windy & icy. I wonder what it's going to be like when the temp hits 50.

Goal to weigh in @ 157 on the 27th, that's 5 days and counting.

Goal to accumulate 550,000 steps---459,603, only 100,000 more to go.

Pamela , good for you , well at least your new grandson will not be hurting for clothes, seeing as that's # 5, the hand me downs should be plentiful !!!!!!!

Hi Team!! I have been away because of our newest family member being born on March 19th!!! Here is a recap of my week so far:

Mon - Did JM's 30 Day Shred Level 1.It is a new week and I am away from home for the next two (visiting DD and family...awaiting birth of our grand baby).

I brought plenty of workout discs and videos stored on my USB stick, too. It was a JM 30 Day Shred Level 1. This is week 4 of 4 for a rotation. Jillian worked my tail even with 28 minutes to do it...lol!

Tue - No workout because DD delivered our 4th grand son this morning.

Wed - It was CLX Extreme Intervals without the use of the stability ball since DD doesn't own one (visiting with her right now). I just moved my arms as if holding one with some of the moves and it was STILL a great circuit training session.

Thu -With my getting the grand boys to school, I have to get up at 5am to workout before they wake...LOL...whew! This morning I decided to do a 1 mile fast walk indoors (Leslie Sansone's Fast 5 Miles dvd) followed by Debbie Sieber's Slim & Limber dvd.

Keep up the good work everyone and I'll get by here as time allows right now.

Pamela...Central Texas

Thursday March 21st.

Goal to accumulate 550,000 steps within a 30 day period-----432,610, so far.

Goal to weigh in @ 157 on the 27th.

Goal to train for my 2nd event within the month---This AM a run of the neighborhood loop, that's a 4.5 mile jaunt. It was once again cold, and today it was snowing. There was little or no wind, that helped. After my outside run , I hit the gym for some elliptical and bike work. So my whole workout was devoted to cardio. emoticon

Had a "win" on my lunch hour - was out doing power errandizing, trying to get way too much done with too little time, and I grabbed a bag of peanut m & m's and a diet coke on my way thru the checkout line at a store...actually stopped, and realized how I did that so naturally and wasn't even having a sweet craving or anything. The realization of how many times I must do things like that really hit me like brick. I was sorta proud of myself for making the connection, putting it back, moving on and sticking to my food plan for the day. Something is starting to stick. I successfully jerked myself out of auto pilot and joined the team that the healthy me wants to be on!!

Walked my labs last night for an hour in the blizzard. They loved it and I needed it! Sitting all day at work makes me slightly nutz! Anyway, tonite's plan is another walk because I have a meeting later in the evening. Tomorrow night will be another run to meet my weeks goal.

Next weeks goal is to run 3x and to calorie count and stay under 1600. I am upping the bar!

BSHOSH, congratulations on meeting your goal for Wednesday. Woo hoo! Off to a great start.
Maci, good luck getting back on track!
Lisa, congratulations on the run and time. And yes, it's great to learn from each other here.
Thank you, Yanks. Here's hoping the weather will be FAB for your run on Sunday.
This evening I planned to do an entire yoga DVD, but I ran out of steam (patience?) and only made it halfway through. So I made up the time by dancing. I love having lots of options.

Nutron, thank you for letting us know how well you're doing. I'm happy for you.
BFerrell, I'm glad your blip didn't last too long. Good to have you back.
Yanks, have fun preparing for the run.
I'm not feeling energetic today. Just one of those days I guess. I stayed on track foodwise and even did my foot exercises and a hill walk, but no in-home strength or cardio exercises. I helped my brother rake leaves for a few minutes today and realized how weak I am, even though I exercise regularly. Sheesh, how much do leaves weigh?

Good morning! And thank you for the welcome!!

Ran last night on treadmill, 2 miles in 23:15. Was thrilled because I didn't have much time, it was a crazy day after work, so I ran it as fast as I could and got under the 12 minute mile that I have been trying to do! So it was a victory! I will get in two more runs this week.

Saturday March 16th,

Goal to weigh in @ 157 on the 27th.

Goal to accumulate 400,000 steps in the month of March---319,079.

Goal to train for the Go For The Green Run---- Well it was great weather wise @ race time it was 30 degrees, and not windy, no rain or snow. I'm happy to say the I had a decent run, and I had the opportunity to lend an encouraging hand to a fellow runner. She wanted to quit at the two mile point, with a bit of coaxing she kept up with me until there was about 1/4 mile to go. Then I turned on the burners, I had a podium run finishing third in my age group. I'm Blessed!!!! emoticon
