This is all about making healthy choices so keep fresh veggies on hand ready to eat when you get the munchies. Carrot sticks and celery sticks give you a nice crunch, apples provide sweetness and crunch. It's all about mind over matter. You can still eat in front of the TV as long as it is low or no calorie foods.
Shop the perimeter of the stores where all the fresh foods are. Stay away from the middle aisles where processed foods lurk. Cook from scratch. Batch cook. I live alone so do a lot of that. I buy family size packs of meats and chicken and freeze them into individual portions.
There is so much information here that it takes a while to digest it all. I just pre ordered SP's new book coming out May 7th, The Spark Solution, a 2 Week Diet Program Fast Track program. It sounds interesting and it is only $16.56 plus a free DVD exercise program and some free instruction from Spark Coach.

Thank you ,I do use paper and pencil sometimes, but I am slowly learning. I am trying to track my food and I do great all day until about 7:00 pm then I totally blow it, I start eating out of boredom. I know I have to create a new habit of not eating in front of the tv, but it is a struggle.
Hi, I am Kay from Oklahoma. Don't give up. Just spend some time, prowl around on the site and eventually you will find your way around. If you can just go with the nutrition trackers, and watch some videos, you will learn a lot. The motivation tabs are really good. Go to my spark points under the start tab and it shows you how to earn spark points every day. You know how to post and that was the hardest thing for me to figure out!LOL. There isn't a deadline, so don't let it stress you. It will become fun, before you know it. Move around for fitness, any movement counts on your body, if you are tracking it or not. Don't try to do everything at once, I agree it is overwhelming and a little intimidating. Good Luck!
The choice is mine. I am in charge of me. Live healthy.

Glad you are here...online...even when you don't feel confident in your computer skills. Be sure to check out the videos that explain how to use the site. I found them very helpful as I was learning and trying to use the site to track my food and fitness efforts.

I joined Sparkpeople some time ago, but didn't really use it because I am not very good with computers and couldn't figure out how to use it and it was taking me so much time I just gave up. So once again I am trying with a little more determination , so be patient with me please. I retired last July and have gained about 10 pounds, trying very hard to get it off but it is not wanting to leave. I know that it is because of what I am eating and when, evening snacking. If you have any suggestions feel free to respond .Thanks
