Wow, it's been the Michele and Brenda Show, lol! I've had the same experience on one of my teacher threads. I'm glad to see other posts now. I made it through the first 2 days and am so ready for the weekend. I went to a wake tonight for the husband of one of the aerobics instructors at my gym.

Brenda, you've been through so much! It sounds like your first husband had his priorities all mixed up. I'm so very sorry. That's not how it's supposed to be...and he wasn't the 'knight' you needed or he saw himself as...certainly not a K of C inspiration!!! You've gone through a lot and have come through as a much stronger person.

Michele, you have been isolated from what you were used to growing up but it sounds like you've made a good life for yourself in Japan! I love your FB pictures!! I still can't believe you go around on a bike in freezing weather...I was irritated today that my seat didn't heat up as quickly as I'd hoped, lol!

Lots to do this weekend but fun things in the offing!

Leslie, Hello & happy new year to you!

Brenda I wish I livedcloser to you so you could teach me how to sew! I can needlepoint & cross stitch, but I would love to be able to sew.

I bought a new tea kettle today b/c the old one I had had a burnt handle. The handle bent over & I didn't realize it was burning until I saw smoke! The whole house smelled like smoke for an entire day

Have a good weeeknd, all!

Michelle,

Thanks for your email address. I put it in my address book so I won't lose it. Usually I write things on a piece of paper and then misplace it or in a tablet and then can't remember where I put it.

I can't watch 'It's a Wonderful Life' anymore. I have seen it so many times that I could probably recite it from memory. LoL

I was going to do some mending today but never got around to it. I know one lady will be asking me where her nightgown is. She wants me to cut the sleeves off. She bought it at the thrift store so she didn't have a choice about the sleeve length.

I have a facebook page too but never put anything on it, just what people write to me is all that is there.

Brenda between you & a few others, I have made some realfriend here on SP! You are one of the reasons I stay, weight loss or not!

I was feeling rather lonely on Christmas as it's not an official holiday here, so my DH, son Ben had to work My 2nd son, Christopher & my daughter Annie Rose had school. So I stayed home by myself & watched "It's A Wonderful Life" all alone. I think I may know a little how you feel. If you would ever like to, please e-mail me here at home. I'm on e-mail all the time. I have a f.b. site, but I rarely use it.

Here is my address: macbt@qk9.so-net.ne.jp

I check my e-mail a lot, as I get mail mostly from the U.S. which is rright now 14 hours (based on Detroit time) behind Tokyo time.

Michelle,

I was beginning to think this board wasn't working because it has been so quiet on here all day. When I first signed on this morning and came to this board I got a message that said my extensions had blocked the site. ???? Well, after some investigation I found out it was my virus program. I got it unblocked but then no one posted. I was feeling lonely here all alone. LoL

The sun came out and blue skies, temperatures in the mid 40's today. I went downstairs to check my mail and no one was there either. Then Sam called me and told me that there was a casino trip today. I never go because I don't gamble and don't like to eat out much.

Brenda the watch I got has a small square face on it, & the bandis like jewels. I really like it. Different for a change.

Dale, I have been living in japan for 27 years. And yes, the japanese use bikes for transportation, whether it's going to the grocery stores, school etc. It does help keep a lot of the weight off for me.

I lost a filing in my upper tooth. Will have to go to the dentist soon!

Mary, When I was married to my first husband you would not believe how introverted I was in those days so I just took things as they happened and never questioned anything. I thought husbands could do whatever they wanted and I had no say in anything. After five children I finally divorced him after 18 years of marriage and he never could figure out why I left him but it sure hurt his image of himself. He was a skirt chaser and liked the bars better than home life. He died just over two years ago of heart disease and alcoholism.

After three marriages and never finding the Ozzie and Harriet perfect life, I now like living alone and found I don't need a man in my life to make me happy. I always picked the wrong kind looking for the Knight in shining armor to whisk me up and take me into the sunset.........I never found my happily ever after that I read about in those library books.

Bonnie,

It sounds like you have that virus that is going around that lasts for several weeks. Many on the message boards have it and have been coughing so hard their ribs hurt. It is rampant in the Nor' Eastern states and spreading. Check with your pharmacist.

I got the new carbon monoxide alarm and new batteries in the smoke detectors this morning and so far all is quiet. Our manager got everyone all upset because she said the monoxide alarms were going to be plugged in but they aren't. They are battery operated and installed on the wall about two and a half feet from the floor. Jill went down the hall knocking on doors to get them open and the guy just went from one to another "zip, zip" with his battery operated drill and had all the monoxide alarms installed in no time. Then Jeff, the maintenance guy went behind him to do the batteries. It was all done in about an hour. Then they went and did our two sister apartment buildings.

I finally got through all of the posts.

MACI Major congratulations on your new grandson.

I am too tired to answer all of you, but I want to say welcome to the couple of you who have been away, I am glad to see you back.

I had to babysit yesterday and today, all 4 kids Had a good time with them, but now very tired.

Have slept much better the last three nights. I think after getting a few more nights of good sleep, I will be much better. Four nights of not sleeping takes it's toll.

I may have to call the dr tomorrow about this sinus infection. It has been two weeks so I am pretty sure it is now a bacterial infection.

Hoping I will feel better after one more good night of sleep.

God Bless my friends.

Remember, it all goes so much more smoothly if you do it one day at a time.

God Bless and have a great Friday.

Brenda, I can't believe that your husband considered the K of C as more important that you having your daughter! I would have marched him down to confession and made him do all your at-home chores as penance!! Men, 17 kids in the family or not, that's just wrong!! I get tickled at how you do all the sewing for so many. I need to make a bolster pillow for my daughter's nursing chair and will 'channel' you, lol. I hope the new smoke detectors don't yell at you when you turn on the tv....and to top off my day, my garage door didn't work when I got home. Hopefully, it's just the battery!

Dale, just keep doing right things and don't give up. The weight will come off eventually.

Dalia (other Mary, lol!), portion control is my biggest worry, too. I will eat the right things but underestimate how much or go back for more because 'it's healthy.' I seem to always be hungry. I told myself tonight that if I AM hungry I must eat a piece of fruit or a vegetable before I attack anything else!

I hope you're better soon, Marija!

Eliza, it's cold, blustery and may by sleeting tonight in Houston. I can't imagine snow and ice. Stay warm and off the streets if you can.

No water aerobics tonight...too ugly outside. I am really enjoying my Fitbit===it's measuring my steps and I can get WW points for exercise after I calculate it on SP...best of both worlds! School wasn't bad and I have an easy day tomorrow. No tests since many kids are still out of the country. I had 3 out of 16 gone today and my partner had 6-----these parents don't realize how much their children are missing!!

Marija, than you for the encouragement. I didn't do so well today. Ate the right things but my portion control was all off. I have got to get the "mindset" that I will only eat measured things and then that is enough.

I'm wondering if you are getting sick because your vitamin intake is off? Are you taking supplements? I think that if we eat less to lose weight, we may be short changing ourselves in the vitamin/ mineral department.

I really am glad i decided to start checking in with all of you on this spark team. Last year you all gave me encouragement when I would have given up, at least half a dozen times that I can recall right now. (because i know what the triggers were). I shouldn't have neglected to check in the last few months. Then I wouldn't have had to start 4 pounds up. but as they say, it is what it is, and tonight I'm making cauliflower crust pizza. Got the idea from a spark recipe, but as i have to make it gluten free, I substituted a cup of gluten free flour, a tsp of xanthum gum and 2 eggs for all the cheddar cheese in the crust. Not low carb, but probably lower cal, and my son can eat it.

Walking on eggshells, don't know what's happening with my weight or why, I know I don't want to go back. I haven't weighed myself in awhile, I think it has kept me honest - if I don't know I have to be careful!
I am trying to analyze why I keep getting so sick this time of year. Can't get the exercise balance thing down right. It seems to lower my resistance. I am trying to exercise and while I feel fine afterwards I can only maintain it for so long, then get sick and have to restart.
We babysat New Year's Eve, but I was already starting to feel sick so was in bed with the kids by 9:30 p.m.

Maci
You are such an interesting writer, I loved your New Year's wishes. Mucho congrats on your new G'Boy
Is that a Califonria thing, out east they are still looking at "natural" like its the only way. I had my 2 girls "un-natural" - knock me out! My daughter is expecting and she hired a mid-wife, a duenna and the Doctor is only there for back-up. All this happened becasue she had C-section the first time and was not very well cared for by the staff.
I am also hearing that in certain cultures the women is well cared for after the birth of their child and are not supposed to do anything but care for the baby and that the whole family steps up to do the rest. It seems to me that some of the Old Wifes way of doing things is the best
Brenda
That is THE best resolution - to live life to the fullest. If I weren't so busy worrying about everything, I might enjoy what is going on. I know I have a very good life.

Dale,
Yes, I found the fake leather in my closet for the pothead's pouch. It is cut out but haven't sewed it yet. Still thinking about how to put it together. It is basically one of those things that you drape over the arm of your chair to hold the remotes and stuff but only one pouch on the outside. He has a remote that opens the front door of the building.

Your pound heavier is probably just water weight. Keep on walkin' around the lake and soon you will see the pounds drop off.

Lura asked me to cut the sleeves off a flannel nightgown she bought at the thrift store so there is another project to do. I guess my sewing sign is lit. Two dresses waiting to be repaired and a tote bag for Jeanette's little Teddy dog so I need to get busy. She will carry him in the tote. He won't be carrying the tote on his shoulder. LoL

We are getting our batteries changed in our smoke detectors today plus a guy is coming from Seattle to install the carbon monoxide detectors so there will be a lot of coming and goings on here today.

I got my new phone yesterday and it is almost like an I-phone or one of those fancy expensive ones but only cost $50 plus I get triple minutes for the life of the phone. It is a pay as you go. Does everything except do my housework. I won't have a phone with a contract. Something else for me to study.

Michelle,
Riding bikes in the storms is very brave. I would be huddled in for the duration. What kind of watch did you get? I have a Mickey Mouse one and a real pretty Navajo one that I never wear plus a few Timex and a pocket watch.

Maci,
When I was having children we stayed in the hospital for a week and they only brought the babies in a couple times a day. My second one, daughter, my husband dropped me off at the hospital and left for two days to go join the Knight's of Columbus, a Catholic men's group. That was more important to him. He was the oldest of 17 children so a new baby was no big deal to him. My, how times have changed.

Bonnie,
Have you been eating your chicken soup and lots of liquids? Coughs are going around our state too. So far, I have not been sick. Knock on wood........

Mary,
I hope nothing else needs to be replaced in the near future. You have had your share for now. Check in when you can and keep on being a loser...........weight loser, I mean. Because in all other ways you are a winner.

Have a good day everyone, TTYL

Still up a pound. I didn't log in my calories for the last two days and it shows. I walked around Wilde Lake just once yesterday, feeling less energetic. It's in the 30s here which is pretty nippy but doable without inclement conditions.

Good morning to you all.

MARY,
hope getting back to school is pleasant enough. How nice that you only have 2 days right now which eases you in. Good for you getting the scale to drop below that 160 mark.
MACI,
learning about the birthing center is interesting. I didn't know they now have places where the baby is with you 24/7 AND you can get drugs for the delivery.
BRENDA,
it's comforting to know that you have all your needs met without having to go out in bad weather. There are several advantages to living in group settings. (Did you find the leather for the pothead's strap?)
MICHELE,
I guess you are very used to being on a bike for all your transportation. How many years have you been doing this? Does it keep you fit?
BONNIE,
good to hear that your cold is subsiding. What are your plans to exercise this winter?

Enjoy your Thursday,
Dale

Back to work in 40 minutes.....oh, for another 2 weeks, lol! It was a good holiday time, though. I made it through the hard days and have so much to look forward to in the new year. I weighed unofficially today and am back down to 159.2 so I've lost a pound. Hope it stays off til Saturday morning! I read Flowers for Algernon and saw Charlie growing up, too...wonderful both of them!

My son came and did all kinds of chores for me yesterday so my house is back to order. I did have multiple computer isssues last night but I uninstalled a Fitbit 'fix' program that I think messed things up and I'm able to get on the computer this mrning. My son put in new carbon monoxide/smoke detectors, though, and when I turned the tv on this morning it 'yelled' at me about high emissions......it never stops, does it?? Always something!

See you eventually, friends!

Hi Maci, Sammi, Leslie, Eliza, Mamadrisc, Brenda, Mary, Loveaquablue, Dahliagrower, Bonnie, KMiller, Michele, Kathy, Dale, everyone

Maci, he takes his tablets at night while I take mine in the morning. I am just giving to him after tea and he is taking them so he will be back on target soon. I will ring his Mental Health nurse as they don't really keep in touch much as he normally has no problems.
Wonderful news and I can feel your happiness from here!!!

Sammi, sorry to hear the holiday season was not good for you, Roll on 2013 and al the good things it will have in store for you

Leslie good on you. Sounds like just the things I need to do too

Eliza, rather you than me the sales, glad your knee is feeling better.

Brenda good on you for making goals. I am like that too rather than resolutions. Its like I want to achieve things and setting the goal helps me to focus on it to reach it. At least not having to go out you can keep warm inside.

Mary that's the attitude and good on you. We do have so much to be thankful for don't we. If you can't check in here make sure you keep up with your own tracking. Goodness so the fitbits are really water and shock proof!!!!!

Loveaquablue its certainly a key to achieving when you are watching what you eat both for health and weightloss.

DG good to see you back and glad you got your ticker sorted. That snow walking sounds hard work. Good idea re the cake too.

Bonnie I don't think I realised you were claustrophobic. Glad you have managed some sleep. THank you for your prayers for hubby.

KMiller, glad you have come back and good walking, adding a bit each day will get you there.

Michele, thanks for the prayers DH is getting better. Glad you got yourself a treat.

Kathy what a great run. You sounds really enthusiastic. Hope your sister can see the benefits you have being on here and that that will encourage her to join.

Dale the cat sounds funny. Do keep in touch even if its just to let us know what you are up to.

Well hubby went back to work for the new year so that was good. As it was Thursday I met him for lunch and he seems brighter already really.
Had a good day just sorting through things as I don't go back to work until 21st.
Didn't do a walk today but have for two days in a row this week.

Too tired to read the posts, just letting you know that I feel like I am recovering from this cold, or whatever.

Slept pretty well last night.

I weighed in today, 281.8. I will change my tracker tomorrow. I am up a bit over 5 pounds.

God Bless and good night.

Dale, the book you are reading was also a movie called Charley with Cliff Robertson and Claire Bloom -- it didn't have a sci fi flavor at all and was a really good movie -- I saw it when it was first out and a few years ago ordered it from Amazon and watched it again.

Maci, congrats on your new grandson.

It was a tough Christmas and New Year --- hoping for a better January.

Hooray for losing that pound, Tops...and this was a terrible week to not eat too much. congrats!
Maci, I know it will be different when my daughter has her babies, but I didn't know you never got a break---so glad you're able to help your dd. I'll be teaching unless mine has the twins during spring break! I'll take off that day, of course, but will only be able to help after school. I hope you all get a break now and then. What did they name the little guy?

My son backed up all my files on my computer and when I restarted everything I lost my Fitbit sign in place and several others. I downloaded something that 'said' it was a Fitbit help. It froze my computer and it's beeen 2 hours of trying to restore and redo things. I'm SO not techy! But I was able to uninstall that program, thank goodness and now I can get into aol again. Phew...what a mess!

Out for the evening now, friends. Back to work tomorrow.
Hugs to everyone!

HI ladies, just woke up from a snooze in the bathtub. Days are still at a frantic pace here, and I am falling asleep everywhere I stop at. Getting ready to leave again to spend the night at the hospital w/DD, her hubs hasn't changed, bathed, or slept good for the last few days, she is in a birthing ctr and you must do all the caretaking yourself for your baby, she had the C section and is still strapped to the bed. So guess who gets to be the helper??? Yes me. It is a different era, in my day, you had to beg to keep your baby w/you during the day, they only brung them to you to feed.

Plus the births take place right in the same room. And when my DD was in labor, she asked to not be put on so many drugs, because they made her feel weird, I tell the dr, "I had everyone all natural," she looked at me like I just kicked her in the teeth and says "Mam, at this hospital the goal is to have birth w/o pain!, I understand thats different than what your used to" I said "Woah, I was going to say, natural is barbaric and I think the new way is way better, keep doing what your doing" she just laughed, She says she usually has to fight parents because they want their kids to do it w/o drugs.

So with the new ways I guess you have to have a helper. They don't even have a baby viewing room, because the baby never leaves your room. So I am off again in an hr to help for the night. Took my mom to see the baby today, he was so cute, strong and alert.

When I sent the New yrs wishes I had only added a few of my fav spark buddies because I was only responding to those who wrote after my last post soooo her is to a few more of my sparkling friends my wishes for you.

*Mary- My 2013 new yrs wish for you is great success w/your fitbit Zip, along w/better health and a great attitude to boot! (lord make that zipbit indestructable)
*Kathy- I wish for you more spark and treadmill time. Hope to see you sparkin all yr long.
*Sammi_ I wish for you heart health in your home, and lots of warm weather to hold back the munchies.

K, Dalia, Tops, Sunny, Love, Mama and Eliza (of course) I wish you all much blessings and joy for 2012. Plus any other sparklers who have not cked in this yr. We will have a wonderful yr filled w/blessings , I know I got my first one named Lil John the 5th, on New Years Day this yr, this is just the start of a great yr.

*Everyone what is the most wonderful blessing you have experienced or would like to acknowledge this yr so far??? Please ponder and post!

Hi again, Michele! It's only 43 here in Houston right now...so cold and damp today! I love sweet potatoes but I don't really care for tofu. I bought many things at Kroger's and want to get back to all the fruits and veggies that I'd been having now that school is starting again. I just get bogged down with not enough sleep and too much paperwork. I love teaching, but it's the extra stuff that gets in the way!

Dale, I am so lucky that the Zip still zips, lol. Mine doesn't record my sleep. It would probably cause me too much anxiety to know how little I get, lol. Glad you haven't had any problems.

My son helped put all my Christmas things in the garage and rearranged a bunch of things for me. So much better and I can get to them without lifting over my head on a ladder! Hooray!

I still have some school stuff to do so I'm off here now!

Dale thank you for telling me. I somtimes feel like I'm really "out of it" living here in Tokyo! Japan makes so many updated electronic products, & then sends them to other countries. We don't have those things first!

Time for breakfast: tofu, sweet potato& milk. The sweet potatoes here so good!

Have a good Wednesday (or Thursday as it is already here!) everyone!

Maci,
Congratulations on your newest grand baby. How beautiful that it worked out for you guys to be there.

Michele,
A fitbit is a new fangled pedometer that measures more than just the steps you take. I don't wear mine to bed and put it instead on my nightstand. As soon as I'm done in the bathroom it goes right back on the waste of my jeans.

Mary,
Phew on the washing cycle survival. I understand this has happened to mant people. I hope not to ever be one of them. My model does not have a smiley face on it so I don't know if it's as sturdy.

Mary what in the world is a Fitbit Zip"? I'm glad you didn't ruin it. I also get up every morning between 4-5 a.m I love the quiet time! I also think working is better than not working. Keeping busy is what keeps our minds healthy & young!

Brenda one day I wlll be like you & not wear a watch. I am on New years holiday right now & it's so great NOT To have to look at my watch to see what time it is! It is also cold here for us---35 in the a.m. We have no central heating in the houses here, so we definitely have to bundle up!

Maci, congratulations on your new baby! Babies are so much fun, aren't they!

Kathy congrats to you to on your run! I used to be a runner too, before these slipped disks. i wish I could still run, so I love to hear about other's running adventures.

I am off to read my book. It is only 5:51 here. Ahh... the quiet.......

We're neck and neck, Dale---I'd gotten down to 158 but regained 2.2 last week. Here's to continued downward success! It is overwhelming with all the responses, but everyone's so sweet and forgiving!

Brenda, you were brave to do all that driving! It's been dreary since Christmas afternoon here in Houston. Today the high will only be around 45 or so. I think we're supposed to have more rain, too. Dreary for the kids and the teachers! I hate to go back, too...oh, to be retired! i'd love to be a permanent grandmother to the babies but I will need to work at least til I'm 65 and I was 62 on the 26th. Quite a while to go! I promise to drop in whenever I can. This is a fun group!

I did a terrible thing but it has turned out okay after all: my kids gave me a Fitbit Zip for Christmas and I've enjoyed wearing it and recording my progress here, on the the Fitbit site, and on WW. I put it on as soon as I got up this morning (up at 4:20...just couldn't get back to sleep on my LAST DAY OFF!) and started laundry. Then I got ready for water aerobics, threw my nightgown in the laundry----and the Fitbit, too! Didn't realize it and I put it through the dryer, too!! But thank goodness, 6 hours later it's still working! Even the smiley face is there, lol. I am sooo lucky!

Now that this conversation thread has gotten more crowded I don't know if I will keep up here. I may be better off going to the January challenge thread for a smaller group. I've been walking whenever possible and doing well with that. And New Year's Eve was wonderful. I entertained (7 of us) and we feasted from 7:30pm right up until midnight. (I have to drop off a pound tomorrow morning to get back on track.)

I took Oliver in to be groomed this morning so now he looks like the little dog that he is. I had let his hair grow out for a change and he was one big fluff ball. I think my son's cat didn't recognize him cause Sly was chasing Oliver around as soon as we got in. Maybe it was just Oliver's excited energy whizzing around.

I'm almost done reading Flowers for Algernon. I've enjoyed the book and just learned that it was required reading in some schools. (It was first published in 1959 so it's sort of sci fi but has psychology and intelligence as the subject It's about a retarded man who is the subject of an operation to make him intelligent.)

I'm off to finish the novel now. Enjoy your Wednesdays,
Dale

p.s.
Slyboy is getting on my nerves. I have a clock on the wall without a cover on its face that the cat wants to bat with his paws. The second hand drives him crazy, and his fixating on catching it drives me crazy. I tried moving it to another wall but if I can reach it to hang it up, he can reach it by stretching out his body. Grrrrrr.

Babies are so much fun. Another one for you to spoil.

It's very cold this morning, 27 degrees. Cars are crashing all over due to the black ice. I'm glad I don't have to work anymore. I used to drive a mobile catering truck in all kinds of weather and it got pretty hairy many times.

Mary, I hope you find/found a good deal on a new computer. I just have my laptop these days because I can do the same thing on it that I could on the computer and I don't have to sit at a desk. I hate to see you go back to work because we won't hear from you as often. I know you will check in as often as you can.

Michelle, I have several watches but don't wear them anymore. Being retired, I don't need to know what time it is very often. I can always find out on my cell phone if I need to know. I was always on a time schedule and had to know the time.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning! Today is my last day off. I got all the Christmas decorations taken down yesterday and my younger son will come this afternoon to load them back into the rafters til next year. My computer screen is going on my laptop so he'll go with me to see about a replacement. This has been an extremely expensive time off for Christmas: I've had to get a new dishwasher, sink faucet and now computer----starting the year off with new stuff though!

Michele, I'm glad you got something for yourself Even something little can lift your spirits! I still am shaking my head about you biking around the city is below freezing temps!!

Bonnie, I hope you feel better soon.

Hooray, Maci, for the new little one! I know you're just thrilled.

Kathy, it will be wonderful having your sister join SP---and congrats on your good run!

I will go to water aerobics this morning and finish picking things up at home....lesson plans to finish up, too. I will probably go back to dropping in every once in a while....thanks for all the boosts over the holidays!

Good morning and happy new year to everyone! I ran 2.25 miles outside yesterday. They were tough miles, but so worth it. My sister and I are going to try to encourage each other in our exercising goals and I am trying to get her to take the time to track her nutrition on SP. She has not joined, yet. I am hoping she will!

I will be heading to the gym after work today and will check in then! Have a great day, everyone!

I am admitting it! I am not reading any posts today! Just got home w/the best news!

This morning, we called our pregnant daughter to see how she felt , so we could make the decision whether or not to take our other DD , her boyfriend and the gkids to Knott's berry farm (amusement park) well she said she felt great and the baby would be coming another day, we drove the 1.5 hrs to the amusement park, went on 2 rides than got the call, Her water broke and she was on the way to the hospital. We were so estatic, we luckily had taken two cars, and hubs and I happily left and drove strait to the hospital, at 10pm our 5th gbaby was born, and we got to see him right out of the OR, He is darling and the experience was priceless. Em our DD and her hubs john were great to be around all day, We all shared the experience together, hubs and I took off alot during the time so they could have alot of alone time too. We were the ones to take and post pics to all the family, His and hers, send everyone updates all day, etc. oh so much fun.

Till tomm, This yr is starting out fabulous! 2013 is gonna rock! Life is soooo good!

Bonnie, I really hope you are feeling better!

Maci you are so inspiring to me---thank you!

Fiona you are in my daily prayers. Hope your DH is doing better today.

DG good to see you back here! How great you are to have exercised in the snow! I used to do that too, when I lived in Mich. Keep going. One day at a time. You only have today! You can do it just for today, don't you think?

Went to Chinatown with my DD & DH. It was very crowded. I bought myself a new watch, cheap only $10.00. I rarely buy stuff for myself.

Have a good Wednesday all!

Well i did it.
I had to totally reset my goals and when it asked if I really wanted to do that, I said yes. Started all over with height and weight and goals, and put my current weight as my starting weight.

Now the ticker says 0 and that looks awful. I'm going to have to work hard to make it move. I'm hoping that is enough motivation right now to stay on a new health plan.

I had a left over red velvet cake that wasn't eaten yesterday. I cut it in thin slices, individually froze them and then put them back into the cake box and put the whole thing in the freezer. Now if I'm having a craving moment, or if i have company, I can take just one out and put the rest back in the freezer. Hopefully, frozen cake will not call to me. emoticon

Love your exercise idea. For a good cause too. Great job.

FIONA

Prayers for you and your husband.

MICHELE

I love Mexican food. I didn't go to the party because I was just too sick, and worn out from not sleeping.

Put all of my pillows on the bed early in the evening to lean against to watch tv. Don't know what time it was, but fell asleep and awoke when the fireworks were going off at 12:07a.

Put my Cpap on, and worked really hard to not have an anxiety attack, so I could get to sleep. It too me about 30 minutes, but I did make it to sleep and slept about 7 hours. Good start.

Hoping that it is easier tonight. I am claustrophobic, and take antianxiety meds to be able to put the mask on and relax.

After not sleeping for 4 nights in a row, my anxiety was very high. Going to try to get to sleep a bit early as I have to babysit tomorrow morning for Ellee and Gracee at 9:00am.

Mom came over and took me to the grocery. I walked around the store, so I got a bit of exercise.

If this cold is not better by Thursday, I am calling the Dr.

Wishing all of my wonderful friends here a wonderful 2013. I do not make resolutions, because I am working on living my life ONE DAY AT A TIME. Don't need resolutions to do that.

God Bless.

Happy New Year, everyone.
i haven't checked in, in a very long time. Sorry about that. Life's been hectic here.
I'd like to start fresh and reset my tickler to 0 pounds lost, but can't figure out how. Can someone tell me if it's possible?

I have gained back 5 pounds since my vacation to Italy in october. I have just gone to too many parties and get-togethers. I seem to do well when I'm on my own, but do not have enough will power (or won't power) when I'm in a group. Hopefully the worst is over, and I'd like to drop 15 pounds this year. No more than that but just 15 (10 plus what I gained in the last few months) seems like a daunting task. I didn't do so well the latter half of the year but I have a whole new year starting today.

Got some exercise of an unusual kind. There is a lost sheltie, who has been missing for 3 months. With numerous sightings. She is feral now and shies away from everyone who sees her. A whole group combed the park where she is most often found. I found fresh small dog tracks that didn't have human footprints near them, and now the group is going to start setting out food where i found a shelter under a fallen tree. Someone is even going to put a discarded winter coat there.

I didn't go far, and I didn't go fast, but i was in 20 degree weather with almost 2 feet of snow, for an hour and a half. And walking through that snow was hard work. I was exhausted when I got back indoors.

Happy New Year!

Our little party down in the Community Room last night was fun. Select people played board games and the rest of us sat and talked. Too bad we don't have a TV in there so we could watch the New Year's celebrations around the world. Everyone loved my tiny sandwiches. I made 30. There was 8 left over but I gave them away as I have more ham and rye bread here. The snacks were just that: chips and dips, taco chips, salsa, homemade chocolates, tiny sausages and crackers, peanut butter celery, pimento cheese on Ritz crackers and chocolate chip cookies and marshmallow treats, sparkling cider. I ate before I went down so just ate a few taco chips and one cookie and drank my water. By ten I'd tired of visiting and came home to watch the New Year come in but I only lasted until 11:15. I heard a few fireworks go off and went to bed.

The snow is still on the grass and it is foggy this morning. The next few days will warm up to mid 40's and rain.

Does anyone make resolutions these days? I just heard on the morning news that we should make goals instead. I just live my life to the fullest everyday and make (mostly) healthy choices.

This is the first day of the rest of your life. Have a great day.

Happy New Years! 2013 is gonna rock! I am going to keep a good loving attitude this yr (if I have to make it up!) teehee. I am feeling preety blessed right now because last night's new yrs celebration was a blast, and it was over by 9:15! Here's what we did.

2 DD's, 4 gkids, 1 boyfriend (not mine, my DD's) and hubs all had shredded tacos, and rice, played a game, watched and participated in the NY countdown at 9pm, banged pots and pans, kissed everyone, ran outside and did sparklers and cupcakes, and the lil girls sang us Happy New year to you! It all happened from 8:00-9:15. and I was fast asleep by 9:30! It was a perfect night!

*Bonnie- Who knew Havarti chz could be so delicious, I always thought that candy and cakes were my only threats! I am hoping that this email finds you snug and snoring in the new year! My new yrs wish for you, is many nice snuggly sleepy nights!

*Mich- Buffets= my one plate rule! that is when I am trying to be good! teehee. My new yrs wish for you, is a strong healthy body so you can do any type of exercise you love, anytime you want to!

*Brenda- How sweet to make all those lil sandwiches. My gma used to buy those lil rye brds, we used to eat them w/butter and sometimes salami, I loved doing that w/her, Thanks for the great memory, she passed away when I was 12. Oh how I loved her, my fav memories are doing morning tea, shuffleboard and swimming at her mobile home park, with her, and dressing up in all her costume jewelry, she loved the big fake jewels, her slippers were always so costume, loved them. I loved her so much. My New yrs wish for you is that you find all kinds of fun crafts/sewing you love to do this yr.

*Fiona- Idea! Maybe you can have a ritual that is fun and nice for you and hubs to do together, he takes his meds you take your vitamins over morning tea / coffee, you can call it your " Us time" with the intention to use that time taking care of the ones you love. (eachother) Convince him: 2013 will be a much nicer yr for you both if you are both healthier. You can add your gratitude lists, special topics, share a reading, etc. Hubs and I love our Jacuzzi time, it's only 10 min but it's ours. We have it right out our bedroom door. We sneak off all the time, and meet there. My wish for you, is that you and your hubs have a healthy happy year this yr.

For all those I missed, Happy New Years to you, may 2013 bring you all, wealth, health, and joy! Today is the beginning of a new year, let go of all neg crap! It doesn't change it if you don't change your mind about it. Remember the Serenity Prayer! *It's called that for a reason!
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change ( them, it, etc)
Courage to change the things I can (Me!)
and the wisdom to know the difference! (???)

Let's all bring in the new yr w/lots of love and gratitude for everyone and everything around us, and if there are things that grrrrr you just can't like, or change, well then, Ignore them! and live your life around them w/happiness. That's my plan.

~Maci~ Oceanside, CA
*If you don't like something... Change it!

~A special prayer to all~
"May your Neighbors, respect you, Troubles neglect you, Angels protect you, and Heaven accept you!"

Happy New Year
I have had a good day but eaten a bit much. Roll on the rest of the year with me really getting into it all again.
I was a bit down this morning when I discovering hubby has not been taking his antidepressants.
I think we are on to it and will see how we go. We went for a walk the two of us too so here's hoping it can be sorted.
