I don't know how this weight tracker came up with 356. I assure you I do not weigh this much.
When I started a gluten free diet I weighed 165 lbs. I am now at 159 lbs. Hurray!

Hello: Thanks for your help. I am learning new things everyday, as I make my way on this
gluten-free path. Eating out is a challenge, as we will be heading south for a week. I wrote to the hotel to ask if they could provide gluten free bread, as haven't heard from them. So, I will be taking my own wraps with me, and alot of other gluten free things I think I will use there.
I have started to lose weight and am down 6 lbs. After a month long flare, my colon has finally taken a break. I am feeling a lot better.
I hope this finds you and your family well. Thanks for sharing.

Because of all of my husbands food restrictions beyond just gluten, we have eliminated almost all processed food from our life. Makes it hard to find snacks but I try to stay organized and keep fresh things in the refrigerator. Gluten shows up in so many things like soy sauce or in a lot of creamy sauces in frozen foods. If you go to a restaurant often the french fries are fried in oil that has also been used for fried onion rings or fried mozzarella, which means the french fries are contaminated. Most all Indian dishes are gluten free (except samosas and Naan). Gluten free has helped us to feel better but it has not been an easy road. www.glutenfreediet.ca/ Shelly Case has some good advice on GF life. Good luck on your GF journey.

By cutting out the carbs from your diet, you will notice changes. I slept through the night for the first time in three years, and my metal fog lifted. Plus I know my colon is much happier, I have early stage Crohn's Disease so modifiying my diet plus gluten free living and exercise will my keys to weight loss.
If you are interested in learning more about gluten, read "Wheat Belly", by William Davis, MD.

Thank you for the information. I am reading "Wheat Belly" by William Davis M.D. He has lead me to believe that I will lose weight by eliminating wheat, rye and barley. I see how, after 3 weeks my weight hasn't moved at all! So, because I have a health challenge, I have early stage Crohn's disease I am going to work with a dietitician and find foods that will help with my goal of losing 30 pounds.
I did discover other positive health benefits, I sleep through the night now, for the first time in 3 years and the mental fog I suffered is gone. It is all good, and I think my colon is happier gluten-free, so I will continue to enjoy my gluten free choice.

My husband was diagnosed with Celiac 3.5 years ago. For him it is a serious issue, actually life and death. It took over a year to actually figure out all of the places that gluten hides. We rarely go out to dinner because it is a hassle unless it is a restaurant with a separate gluten free menu. Gluten flours have less fiber and proteins and are much higher in calorie. Gluten bread is very expensive and the size of the slice is much smaller and higher in calories. Almost all processed gluten-free cookies, muffins, breads and frozen foods are higher in sugar and fat than regular gluten items. We have basically adopted a vegan diet with no processed foods at all, with eggs, fresh fish and meats. I would really research it out, unless it is a health issue recommended by a registered dietician or your doctor, it is not necessarily a diet that you lose weight on. Good luck!!
